For sorghum popping, I use a large covered skillet (fry pan). ALL kernels get even heat. Minimal shaking necessary.

I love popped sorghum! I use 1/3 cup with 1 or 2 tbsp coconut oil and salt in a covered pot. Shake it during the pop to prevent burning. There will be a good many unpopped kernals, but they are quite edible. I eat it with a spoon. Yum!

Put only a couple kernels in with the oil first . when they pop then the pan is hot enuf . have emuf to make one layer of kernels , start shaking it right away . ive made lots of stovetop popcorn and just learned it has gluten which i am allergic to . so , i was told abt popped sorghum ystrday , which doesnot have gluten . ( i no longer use a microwave for anything ) . thats how i made popcorn , so thats how i will try it when i get the popped sorghum . i will try it plain or with butter . thanks for the video .

@@ruthmcintyre6186 Typical gluten is wheat, barley, and rye. Corn has corn gluten, but it's not the same allergen as that in the other 3 grains I mentioned. Corn can have traces from equipment that also processes those other grains, but otherwise should be totally safe for general gluten intolerance and Celiac.

I went net surfing also and there are quite a few videos on sorghum popping. They tend to use tall stainless steel pots and stir constantly. No lid needed. Some use small amounts of oil or gee. Apparently, sorghum is called ‘jowar’ in places like India and very popular. In one video they heated and soaked the sorghum and then wrapped it in a clean cloth, squeezed out the excess moisture and let it sit overnight. It looked much larger then, so I wonder if it would pop larger but couldn’t tell by the video. After laying it out to dry for 1/2 an hour they dry popped it. It did look good.

When popping on the stove, I've never heard of NOT using oil. You first put about a tablespoon of high heat oil in a large heavy bottom pot with about 3 kernels of whatever you're popping. When the first one pops, add the rest. Shake/move the pot quite often to spread the heat more evenly and to keep them from burning. When popping slows, take the pot off the stove (but keep the lid on), for a couple minutes. Between 70%-90$ will pop. The secret is having a hot pot and sufficient oil (but not too much) when popping the kernels.

Hey! I can't wait to try this. Popcorn is poison for my body too but I love it so damn much. I have a popcorn video on my channel but what I can recommend is to NOT lift up the lid during cooking. You need the high pressure and the steam to pop it. Lift it when the popping slows. What you can also do, and I show this in my video, is to heat up 2-3 tbsp avocado oil on med heat and put 2-3 grains of sourghum. When one pops IMMEDIATELY add the rest of your kernels and cover. Start shaking the pot keeping it on the burner at all times so the heat stays even.
Your channel is seriously inspiring me to share my plant paradox experience. Thanks so much!

I stop the machine once the sorghum starts smoking. I empty and do not use the kernels in the machine. All the sorghum in the bowl is popped and ready to add spices.

I love all the helpful videos you all do so thank you so much! I loved popcorn also as it was my addiction. Thought I was doing good by stove popping my non GMO corn in olive oil but little did I know. I have had much success with a couple of tablespoons of olive oil added when I popped my sorghum. I put it on medium heat and even though all of it did not pop, it was still edible. Kinda like eating tiny popcorn and tiny corn nuts in one! lol It is a nice crunchy snack when we can not have popcorn though. Have to do what we have to do. I enjoyed it though.

When cooking popcorn on the stove top you put a thin layer oil in the bottom of the pan and then add the popcorn. I'm thinking this will be the same for popping sorghum. Also, you must shake the pot the entire time from start until it quits popping. If you prepare you oil seasoned topping ahead of time you can use it to pop your popcorn or sorghum.

The idea is to have a nutritional food source can can be cooked if you don't have electric or say your on solar, hot plates and poppers use much electric, and this had to be cooked on a wood stove or gas. In guessing.

Your ingredients are blocking the view of the food prep. You didn't keep shaking the pot, that's why you burned it. Also, you didn't soak the seeds then thoroughly dry them, before popping.

Great video. I surfed onto this video by happenstance. But I love the family component of this video. But moreso I'll also say that including your "fails" vs perfect results along with your mixed reviews make you and this video 100% authentic by my standards. Thx. Keep posting.
Pivoting, when I was younger B4 microwaves we used this large Dutch oven pot to pop popcorn. We heated vegetable oil, first, B4 adding the kernels.
Most of the kernels would pop. We would get our share of unpopped and ½ popped corns. We eyeballed vs measuring portions which likely contributed to our inconsistent results. Good luck with future vids.

Has anyone tried an air popper?

    • @pkp435
      @pkp435 6 ปีที่แล้ว

I did. It just threw the sorghum kernels out. I heard there are some air poppers that circulate air in a vortex instead of straight up. Supposedly those poppers work with sorghum.

Jesus Christ is the son of God who died and rose three days later and loves all of you. He died for everyone and wants you with Him, to know Him and live for His glory. Come be saved eternally and spend time with Him to know Him. Be saved, free, forgiven, healed, delivered, baptized, whole and let Him show you how He is everything you need.
🕊️💕Live righteous and Holy because He said to and paid for our way to live like Him. Ask anything in His name and the Father will do it amen hallelujah praise God thank you Jesus . 🙏
I lift up everyone's prayers, wants and needs to You Jesus, please pour out blessings. May Your favor, grace and mercy be upon the world. In Jesus name come help us all. You know our needs and everything else about each of us. In Jesus name amen thank you Jesus praise God 🙏
Jesus, Help people to be rooted and grounded in Your love and to obey Your truth. That they are living in the truth being taught by You. That they know Your voice and word. Knowing truth from errors, discernment. 💕
We are ambassadors of Christ. We represent God, when we are seen Jesus should be seen, His ways not ours. We should be living for and showing God, living for His glory. We are to be an example of Jesus for the world to see Him and want to know Him and know Him more. 🙏 🔥
2 Chronicles 7:14 says, if My people humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways I will hear them from heaven and heal their land. 🙏 💖
People need to turn from their wicked ways, Jesus paid for it. That's God stating it in that verse and there are more verses. People need to repent, to be cleansed by His blood and live Holy because He's Holy and righteous because He's righteous. Our God said to stop sinning in many many scriptures and He paid for everyone to be cleansed of sin (Isaiah 53), and to live how He said. He dwells in the Holy temple (your body) and said not to defile the temple. He said to defile the temple is death. He's always serious about everything He said to do. He's just as serious about what He said not to do. We live in obedience to His law, every word if it! He dwells within us all to be with and lead us in His ways. 💕🙏🔥 🕊️
Deuteronomy 28 there are blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience. The whole chapter, and verse 46 is one example of generational curses. These go into the following generations, the 3 and 4th. Our children pay the price for our sin. Stop sinning you are sending consequences to yourself and to your loved ones, children. By God's law you are. If you don't believe me ask Him, in Jesus name may you see and know the truth in it's fullness.
Love your neighbor as you love yourself.
Jesus is worthy of everything He said and paid for, so I implore you to do as God said.
Jesus said If you love me you will obey my commands. Love Him with all your heart, mind, soul and strength.💖🔥🕊️ 🙏
    Praise God 🙏Hallelujah Jesus 🕊️
In Jesus mighty name 🙏🔥🕊️ 💖

    • @DaveHales

You can get it on Amazon or Whole Foods we can also buy it at our local grocery store. You can usually find it by the specialty flours like Almond flour and coconut flour etc.

Well, I guess someone did not get some basic cooking skills class. Hard to watch, you put a few kernels in first to see when they pop, then the rest of the kernels when you know the heat is right. Then you slide the pan over the cooking grate, keeping it on the heat to pop all the kernels. You will need to find a man who can cook....good luck.
