    Good to know I want to grow sorghum for my chickens . My mom however is allergic to corn and misses popcorn so this would be a great alternative

    Wow! Those turned out bigger than I thought they would! I need to consider growing sorghum, I love its versatility and what a great way for us to make the most of our limited space. Thank you for this valuable information Zac!

      Ok, I got interrupted while watching this so missed and had to turn the volume down (Mr. Rain was on the phone) the part where that popcorn wasn't the same thing as the sorghum "popcorn" Hahaha! Either way, I am still very impressed with how versatile this plant is

    So, why not pop the sorghum with the "popcorn" popper?

    I will have to attest that sorghum grows really fast I have some growing down here in Florida I agree with the fact that can be used with chicken feed as well talk about something you can keep around forever and never have to worry about getting seeds from anywhere else has multiple purposes as you're saying the video you're the reason why I bought the season to start with when I originally watch your videos sometime ago.

    Yummy! We grew sorghum, but sadly frost came before it produced seed. We're going to germinate early next time, hopefully get some seeds.

    • @Anamericanhomestead
      @Anamericanhomestead  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, start it early! It should grow up there. As soon as frost danger is over, put it in the ground. For people farther south from Michigan, you can start it later.

    I've been considering raising livestock again using 50% or more fodder. Zach do you think these seeds would be cheap enough to add with the cheapest of grains and legumes to produce a top notch fodder???

    If you preheat the oil and then dump the sorghum there, almost everything will pop wide.

    I try to tell people about this but nobody wants to grow anything anymore I want to live around people that have the same thinking as I do that's really how I judge people anyway... they don't grow anything is because they're not decent people... hey that's what my grandparents always taught me my parents directly...

      Yeah, you basically crush the cane and collect the juice and then boil it down into syrup. You can this consume this syrup the same way you'd consume sugar...OR distill it into rum.
