    I originally had mudflaps similar to the spigens in size and shape. I found they are still not enough. The front mud flaps don't stop much from hitting the rear panel. I ordered the mud flaps from tesla and they provide much more protection. My rear ppf is in rough shape but at least I had it installed right away and can get that replaced vs a lot of paint work.

      crazy. These cars really take a beating without something blocking debris up front.

    • @HalimePatlak
      @HalimePatlak หลายเดือนก่อน

      the factory ones are better keeping debris off paint?

    • @mattk6877
      @mattk6877 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @HalimePatlak I don't know if they are factory per say since the car didn't come with mud flaps. Tesla offers mudflaps in online accessories store. I got the mudflaps from the tesla store and they worked better than other after market ones.

    Nice, these look like a better options thanks. BTW, you're breaking the clips all the time because you're removing them wrong. the phillips head is for removal, not installation, you back it out with the driver first, then use the pop tool.

    I agree, BTG. Those plastic mud flaps do not last . Buy the hard rubber ones.

    I wish this video came out earlier. I recently bought and installed a set of 4 mudflaps from Basenor on my model Y. Hopefully they'll hold up. If they fail, I'll give Spigen a try.

      @BeardedTeslaGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are decent economy ones, but these are going to be my recommendation moving forward. The main thing is get mud flaps ASAP. Then worry about what ones you should or shouldn't have.

    I’ve had a Tesla MY for about a year and 11k miles. So far, very few chips, and none really in the trouble areas you mention. But, the roads here are fairly clean, and I don’t drive in wet conditions very often (no rain, or at least I can avoid it). I have had two tire punctures from nails, but there is a fair number of remodelers in the area. I ordered mud flaps from Tesla, but thought I would not install them since they were fairly ugly and road conditions for me didn’t seem to merit that protection (SoCal).

    Just installed on my 2023 Model Y and it was a breeze even though the 10mm socket was missing. No biggie standard tool in any toolbox.

    I got mine last November and the Maine winter stripped the paint badly - looked like the back of my blue doors had been sandblasted. Tesla did not include PPF or mudflaps - for Maine. Since it was November, it was difficult to add them and I didn't really consider it.
    The paint repair kit did a great job of hiding most of the damage, and I added cheap PPF and decent mudflaps (I happened to get BASENOR and they look pretty solid and are made of reasonably heavy duty plastic).
    IMO Tesla really, really needs to include both PPF and mudflaps in areas that have snow and ice.

      @@BeardedTeslaGuy I took delivery in November 2022 and they didn't for me. Fortunately they aren't super pricey but I wish I could have paid for them up front and had them installed.

      Idaho is one of the places where Tesla provides mud flaps & PPF. My car arrived without mud flaps so my first service call was having them installed for free. I suspect you could have done the same.

  • @androskris

    I bought some of these and the fasteners did not hold the rear mudflap very strong. I was able to pull it out without much force. I ended up returning to Amazon but had to keep 2 fasteners since the oem would not push back in.
    I love spigen cases on my phone and even the center console accessories but was not happy with the mudflaps.

      It's not where you drive, it's Tesla's soft paint. I have been driving cars for 45 years and have never had issues with paint chipping, until tesla. I love the cars. I'm picking up my 3rd tesla, but the paint is the only real issue I have had with my Tesla's.

    Mudflaps don't help. I have PPF on most of my MYP and the PPF is still getting beaten up in less than a year. I think bigger front mud flaps are the answer. I will have to replace the rear PPF on the doors at some point. The plastic is also all pitted as if a sandblaster hit it. The car has 16k miles and i've owned it for 17 months. This is pathetic for a car this new. Tesla needs to use better plastic.

    • @BeardedTeslaGuy

      No Tesla needs to put more layers of paint on the car and let it cure properly, baking the paint will harden it like OEM do.
