Great vid. If you get tired of Diabetic needles, try acupuncture needles. Super sharp hypodermic needles that last really well, and actually perforate smaller than most diabetic needles. My go two for bubbles in anything, and I mean anything hahahah.
Hi Justin, thanks for your referral code. I just bought my MYP in red with white interior. I got a 5100 dollar discount. I’m hoping my timing was right. Seems like there’s no bottom to discounts. Love your videos. Keep ‘em coming !
Looks great! I have to say, this is a bit of an inspiration to maybe try it myself. I had the front clip done on my EV6 (matte grey) and have been thinking about how to protect the rest of the car. This seems like a great way to save money.
Woah! The prices in your area are crazy my dude. A full XPEL stealth matte ppf wrap here is 3600 installed and that’s the average price among most shops here in LA, since everything is so expensive here I was shocked to hear the prices you were quoted! Anyway, I really want to do this. But I’m scared I’ll get so frustrated and give up. I’m pretty handy, but tedious tasks can drive me nuts so I’m kinda on edge about it lol
I have NEVER seen or heard of ANY PPF, let alone XPEL, full car matte wrap for anything close to that. Are you positive that isn't the price for just the partial frontal?
@@BeardedTeslaGuy so after doing some digging I found out that this price is for precut films, so the result will be similiar to this. Found out the higher price point installations use whole PPF sheets for those tucked edges/zero gaps that arent possible with precut films
GREAT JOB! Like others have commented, I don't have the patience so I paid for the clear to be applied on the entire front. Question though, I now have a quarter size white scuff on the front corner of the PPF. How can that be removed? On the paint, you would use a little compound and buff it out but what about PPF?
You can use a light rubbing compound. I would recommend starting with NuFinish first as it doesn't actually have any cutting agents in it. Works pretty well on bare paint so it should work on the PPF too.
Thank You, BTG! I am glad I went on here to check your video. I almost paid $2800 for the full body PFF for my 2023 Model X. I've just ordered the kit and saved $567. Thanks to discounted code that you posted on this video. Can't wait for the product to arrive and start this fun project.
How's the overall look from a far? I see that you did not tuckin the fenders so at least a little bit of the shine shows I would think. Do they sell the kit with extra to tuckin all sides?. The hood obviously always big enough to tuckin.
@@BeardedTeslaGuy for stealth I can understand but to spend thousands on diy clear film just doesn’t make sense to me when I can get any minor chips fixed professionally for a fraction of the price (or even better just buy a paint repair kit for $50) But this is easy for me to say since my m3 didn’t cost like $100k like the s/x.
its so you can clay bar your car if it has contaminants and debris embedded. It will remove, but please read up on clay barring a car before you do it.
Bulk PPF is much harder to install, at least in my experience. And please show me how a non PPF shop buyer can get enough 8mm film to cover an entire Tesla.
Don't you always flip Teslas? Getting ppf seems to make more sense for someone who holds onto the same car for like a decade or so. Even if you get a few paint chips value of your car won't be affected when selling
Ive only flipped the 2020 Y for this 7 seater when it came out and the SR 3 for the LR 3 because the market was stupid back then and didn't cost anything to do it.
I only paid 1k to have the front of my tesla wrapped and they did a great job, those kits are expensive you can order a much cheaper one with top tier products if you shop around. So I am unsure what the benefit of paying 1k for the kit when I can have one installed for that price using industry top tier film. Mine was not 3M but the other brand that was actually rated higher but I forget their name.
What’s ridiculous is my brand new MYP came with swirl marks and scratches everywhere, their paint quality control is horrible but i mean the value of the car vs it’s price kinda lets you turn a blind eye to it
@@BeardedTeslaGuy your a really good DIYer ... There are some cheap dent kits that would fix that easily. Trust me ... I didn't see any major creases so I think you can do it

Thats so awesome! Congrats and thanks for supporting the channel!
After watching this, I think the $6500 I paid to have PPF installed was the best money I’ve ever spent 😂. I am not a do it yourself guy.
It’s not a small amount of work to do
1000% could be possibly setting someone up to wasting $3000 on film. It’s not as easy as the video makes it seam!
If u a do it yourself it’s worth it not everyone can do a oil change or change a tiew
PPF installation is truly and art form. I had my Y done in clear for 5k two years ago and I’m still happy with it.
How much it costs to get it painted all around?

Great work as well as editing BTG! PPF on the rocker panels are a no go right?
thats right. It's plastic trim on the Y. You only put this on the painted surfaces.

PPF is so expensive. Luckily, there is a shop here in Rhode Island that’s XPEL certified that wrapped Teslas for $4,500. Can’t beat that price.
Where at?
That’s the best price I’ve seen for clear for the whole car. So about 2x DIY

$2800? Where you live my boy? I’m getting quotes for 4k
Do you need to change the color on your DMV registration if you do the matte PPF?
Wasn’t it like $1200 for the DIY kit from Drive Protected 24 months ago.
That would have been a different kit. The Matte kit has not been available that long.
no, you may be thinking of a partial kit, maybe the full frontal was (sounds right), but that has come down a bit.
Any latest coupon code for PPF discount? Any trustworthy vendor in Canada?

no gloss shows anywhere (I may have not been absolutely perfect of course) but all edges go all the way to the end, or tuck in with a 1/2 inch lip .
Hey, how did it turn out with u doing it outside? I was considering doing it myself outside
I can’t even put the protective film on my iPhone 🤣🤣🤣
Hahahahahahahaha
How’d you prep?
Do they have small pieces to stealth cover the sensors?
no, and I dont believe you are supposed to do that anyways because it will interfere with the USS
The code doesn't seem to be working in June 2024.
They reduced the price and eliminated all the 20% off codes. There are 5% off codes that work such as TESLAFLEX

we're just ignoring that giant bubble/finger to the right of the cameras on front fenders

not really. It's not that much over cost, certainly less profit margin than the millions of chemical products out there.

It's worth mentioning that the true reason behind Tesla's soft paint is due to California laws not allowing the proper hardener in the paint itself.
