      How do you take apart a dimebucker pickup? I want the magnets out of it for an experiment but I don’t see any screws on it like normal pickups have.

    • @chzzyg2698
      @chzzyg2698 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Haydean06 Once it's apart it's not going back together. Cut the fabric strap around the outside, then cut through the copper wire, then it'll come apart.

    Jon, Seymouir is one righteous Dude! He very graciously contributed a foreword piece for my first book on Guitar Building. Seymour always gave me time when I'd have a question, much like he talks about Phil from Fender doing the same for him. He's passing it along, like a real Craftsman ...

    Its interesting to hear Seymour talk about writing to Fender asking questions about their pickups. There is something very quaint and romantic about it. It recalls my own memories of writing from the UK to Fender asking for schematics, then a month or so later I'd get an A4 envelope back with a letter and the schematics. This is before you could just go online and get amplifier schematics in seconds.

    We offer three kinds of services Good, Fast, and Cheap. you can pick any two.
    1) good and cheap won't be fast

    Seems Seymore Duncan went with number 2 and it was the right choice.

    • @orwellophile
      @orwellophile 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Since all humbuckers are machine wound, and all active pickups are humbuckers, it's not like they have any "soul". Fishman just did away with the copper coils in favor of copper traces on 96 layers of PCB (48 above, 48 below). It such an obvious thing to do, they've been printing antenna coils for ever. I guess it takes an industry as unchanging as this one for no-one to think of it earlier.
      And incase you're wondering, the other part of an active pickup is an op-amp circuit which negates the second pickup from the first and amplifies the output, thus allowing it to use a fraction of the coils otherwise required (no idea how many, or what magnet strength). I can't own active pickups, I'd just pull them apart. :)
