Thank you for the video. I scheduled service today for the differental and transfer case, but I may just decline service and instead have them do my brake flush instead and do the Rear and Transfer gearbox oil change myself.
Basic stuff on this car is pretty straight forward. Only thing I personally would go to the dealership for as of right now is cvt transmission service every 30k but that’s mostly so there is a record of it being done with Mitsubishi.
Hi the fill plug 17mm transfer case to loosen it you have to push upward? (my body position underneath the front of the car, legs facing front and my head facing the rear)
If your wrench/breaker handle is facing to wards the front of the the car yes push up to rotate counter clockwise and loosen but if the wrench handle is facing the rear of the car pull down
What year is your car? And you change the rear differential fluid only on an AWD? Sorry if it’s dumb questions I have a 2018 mit sport but not awd. I’m new to working on my car but want to learn more.
I have a 2017. Correct only on the AWD models. If you have a FWD you will not have a transfer case or a rear differential so no servicing required. If you have the CVT transmission it is recommended to change the trans fluid and filters every 30k (yes there are two, one in the transmission pan and one but the trans cooler below the battery.) I personally go to the dealership for this service but I know a good amount of people do it themselves.
@@Jarred1115 thank you I have a 2018 outlander sport but a base version. I don’t even have fog lights in the front. I wonder if you can make a video or know of a video where I can do the complete installation of them I have the holes but a plastic cover
@@MarianneMatos407 don’t quote me on this but from what I’ve read online you would need a kit with the fogs and the “sub” harness to connect to the factory wiring and the fog lights. If your indicator stalk already has the fog light ring you don’t need to replace that. So you could go OEM or aftermarket. And then you have to activate the lights yourself through a process or have the dealership activate then. Did you wait until the fill port completely stopped dripping new fluid before installing the plug back into the differential/transfer case or did you install the plugs as soon as it started dripping new fluid? Thanks
I personally do not, I’ve gone to the dealership to have it done at 30k and 60k just to have the service preformed at a dealership while I was still under power train warranty. But if you have Facebook look up the group “Mitsubishi Outlander Sport/ RVRIASX Enthusiasts” I know some members do it themselves.
@@B00merBobmy dealer supposedly ordered the pan filter and never called me back to do it I ordered two that it needs and did it the small one was a pain
This video goes over the transfer case and rear differential. I think the front trans axle should be built into the transmission and serviced the same time as part of a transmission service but if I’m being honest I’m not sure.
Okay so the transfer case is 24ft lbs (plus or minus 2ft lbs) for both the drain plug and fill plug and the rear differential is 23ft lbs (plus or minus 2 again) for both the drain and fill plug.

What is the Plug part numbers from Mitsubishi since they strip due to rust
I have a 2015 mitsubishi outlander 4wd . Does have a tranfer case and rear difential like this ? and thanks for this video

Hi, I have a 2013 2WD Outlander Sport. Does my car come with a Transfer case and or Rear Diff?
Yours does not. Only applicable to 4wd variants.
How much gear oil did you put in the transfer case? Or do you fill it til it leaks out?
I believe it is 0.4liters but yes essentially fill until it leaks out.
Thank you🩷

The dealerships do not change the filters (there are two). They will charge up to $400 just for a transmission flush.

whats the torque spec to tighten the plug
I am not certain off the top of my head. I just went for “tight enough”. I will check tomorrow when I can look it up on pro demand.
