Hi, Rahel. I loved your images, my favourite being the cow and calf together and needing nothing and nobody. The cat seems to be thriving. Of course, it is good to see you living so well and with deep self awareness. You're on a very interesting road.
17 days alone sounds glorious. I completely relate to this notion that people can't understand and sometimes even get concerned when I want alone time. For me the hardest part of being alone for 17 days is the 18th 19th and 21st day when I have to adapt to having somebody back in my space. I'm happy to do this for a loved one but it does not minimize the need for the time alone. How amazing for you that you know your boundaries and can hold them and honor your own needs. Amazing. Sorry to hear that you were starting to move into a more anxious and dark space but how wonderful for you to identify that and prioritize what you needed. And it paid off! Thank you for being out in the world sharing and reflecting back at me how I am. You get it, and I get you. As a side note, your cinnamonography often brings me to tears. In a good way you have a really beautiful eye thank you for sharing this part of yourself with us as well. Light and love to you.
Hi Rahel , I love your videos, I live in California but I was born and raised in Madalena until 12 years old. You show the Island beauty through a different lens
Welcome, blessed souls in the healthy and conscious part of youtube. Thank you for another magnificent video Rahel. The end of the year I spent with my wife exactly as you described (only in mainland Portugal) and it is nourishing. So nice to see your channel growing :) Stay safe
Great juggling skills, Rahel ;) Sounds likes you had a most replenishing time, glad to hear that you feel better now. I felt like the musical choices perfectly accompanied the scenic videos. Thanks for candidly sharing your experience, as it inspired me into doing a much needed decluttering of my living space. Cheers
Oh Rahel, I started to write longer answer to you - and then my Internet collapsed hence, this will have to be later.. Take care in your stunningly beautiful home.. Enjoy your alone-ness which is so precious no matter what other people thínk! I walked myself through Santo Antao for the first 2 weeks of the new year and, could have continued still but, as work was calling home in Dublin I had to fly home... On - as you know - yet another "interesting" flight through Lisbon... Next time - another trip to the Azores and more walks and talks to nature (and people) there.. These small islands which I so love.. Take care Rahel and, keep on being true to yourself.. 🌹🌹🌹
Thank you Jette Mae for your kind and encouraging words despite having to start all over - so annoying when that happens. I'm glad you took the time for yourself to start the year in such a beautiful place. I'm going to spend yet another long night at Lisbon airport next week, so I'll be thinking of you 😊 Thank you for your support, I'm sending lots of love your way!
@RahelStadler Thanks dear Rahel and yes, the beginning of a new year was perfect on this wonderful island with lovely people around as well.. Absolutely a perfect start of the year and, I don't think you will ever finish walking there.. I was thinking that I could easily have spent 10mweekscthere instead of the 2 only but, this gives now just a new excuse to "have to" visit again.. A Brazilian friend of mine say, these islands look lime mini-Brazil and, he's not wrong... Sounds as if he'll be going next.. What's the name of your cat? Looks like a good companion.. Time to sleep.. Tomorrow a new week at work starts.. Take care and, enjoy Pico, the cat can it all.. Goodnight from Dublin and I
You are right with your assumption. Obviously it was a scary time in general and I felt so bad for everyone who was locked up in cities and battling with severe health issues but I was so privileged that we were locked up on a beautiful island without any Covid in the beginning and I very, very much enjoyed the quietness and lack of tourism. Though it then was even more difficult to adjust to the flood of people who came then all at once to visit the islands post Covid.
By chance, do you know if University of Azores offers classes in English, or is it primarily Portuguese? I'm considering spending some time out on pico island. I'm a psychology researcher and work primarily with early Buddhist mindfulness practices. It would be wonderful to setup some kind of faculty exchange because, as you see in your own life, the island is quite ideal for extended, silent mindfulness practice.
Thank you! How wonderful that you are from Madalena. I would prefer to not disclose on the Internet in which village I live exactly but I do live on the south coast of Pico.
Dogs are great company! When you have a dog you really don’t need people but being you are an introvert you may prefer a cat, which is not as “needy”. 😊
@klimtkahlo very true. I absolutely agree that a dog would be a great companion and I believe any animal would lighten up my spirit and enrich my life. I would love to have a donkey or a goat some day but it just happened that this cat became my companion at this time in my life and I wouldn't want to have it any other way😊.
I love your orange orchard, the little glimpses of the village and your simple words about being alone. 🙂
Rahel, wie immer so schön!. Danke für den Einblick in dein Leben auf dieser wunderschönen Insel Pico. Pass auf dich auf!
Sounds and looks just perfect to me !
wonderful time alone in this awesome surrounding , and you had good company from your cat, enjoy ! greetings Bart

Beautiful scenery Rahel. By the way at 6:12 there is someone's head to the right of the bare tree watching you😂
I got scared there for a moment, but then I saw what you saw ☺️ thank you for pointing it out, I appreciate you made me aware of a detail I missed.

I bet you enjoyed covid when everything was closed down. I was scared as anyone else but I enjoyed the staying home and the quietness.

I'm surprised you don't have a dog?
Why are you surprised that I don't have a dog?
