    I have a 2015 model and everything cycles through it just fine. I shot a lot of Armscor rounds through it with out any problems. I used CCi and Hornady too.. good results all around

    Thanks for the review. I have had my eye on the PMR-30 for several months now. Seems like they have been able to ring out most of the feed issues people have been experiencing. I just placed an order for one with the guarantee it's a 2018 model.
    With regards to your comments about loading the magazines. People have reported that the loaded brass gets dented by the rim of of the round being inserted and pressed down in to the magazine. The speedloader (in theory) applies even pressure on the already loaded round when it compresses it down in to the magazine. YMMV.
    With that said, it can be a thumb saver if you plan on putting several hundred rounds downrange.

    I just came from the range. My God, I love my gun. Not a single FTF or FTfire when the break in period was done. I kept the 4 mags I have loaded and that helped a lot. The makershot loader helps too to achieve the 30 rnd mark withouth denting the shells.

      I'm hoping once the barrel and lock slide around and get smoothed out maybe it will lessen the amount of shit I get hit in the face with. Still cool but hopefully that goes away

    I've watched maybe 8 videos on the PMR30 and no one else has mentioned getting "peppered in the face" by debris when firing the gun. So it's interesting to hear that this can be a thing, with any ammo you use apparently. I want one of these real bad, regardless of any issues it has, that 30 round mag just sounds too fun.

      Eric Bergfield I wear eye protection but haven’t noticed anything. Some guys did mention that a long time ago.
      If you get one, maglula now makes a mag loader especially for this gun and it works really well. You may want to note that keltec only offers free warranty work to the original purchaser and requires proof so if you have issues with a used one, you’ll have to pay.

      The unburnt powder in the face you shouldn't have that problem so long as you keep the pistol far enough away. I do know that all that 22 magnum powder does not burn off in the PMR barrel. There's no way it can. It seems like it's got one hell of a flash upon discharge. A friend of mine has the CMR version of this. And he loves that thing. He's steadily gets right in the area of 2,000 ft per second. I've read that you can get up to 1500 ft per second with the PMR 30. Either way I mean you get hit with a hornet's nest of 22 magnum I don't care who you are that's a bad fucking day.

      If I'm trying to hit somebody 300 yards away with a pistol.. I imagine I've got some serious fucking problems. That's when the AR-15 comes out. Not that it's impossible to land a 300 yard shot but I mean realistically? No. I mean people do it but they don't do it repeatedly. I watched a guy taking 150 yd shots with this exact firearm and out of that 30 in the magazine he might have landed 10 of them on the target.

  • @NortheastSurvival911
    @NortheastSurvival911 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Releasing or compressing a magazine spring in itself does not wear them out at all. It's the actual movement of them being compressed and released repeatedly that will make them loosen up. You might get a little bit of relief if you leave them loaded for a couple weeks and then release it and reload it again but it's not going to be much. I have had magazines for pistols that I loaded in the 90s I took them out a few months ago and I fired them. They're still just as good as the day I loaded them. So yeah just compressing or releasing and then leaving them like that will not really do anything to them. I'm watching as many of these videos as I can because I'm picking my PMR-30 up probably in another week. I bought a beautiful 300 win mag for hunting season and then the next day I go in the shop to buy ammo for it and I see a PMR 30 and I promised myself if I ever saw one in a gun shop I would buy it. But given that I'm raising four of my five daughters by myself I can't just go buy guns whenever I feel like it. I mean don't get me wrong we have a shitload of firepower here. But we don't have a PMR 30 just yet. They do make an upgrade parts kit for it that I've already ordered. It's my understanding that from the factory the PMR 30 comes with a polymer feed ramp and a couple other pieces that leave a little to be desired. So I just said fuck it I'll spend the extra money replace all the parts and hope that the total investment is worth it in the end. Oh I'm going to be pissed if it's not. That's $650 total that I'll be spending on this. Just for the gun and the parts kit.
    But honestly most people say that once you break them in a couple hundred rounds they're perfectly fine. A lot of people say it's about loading the magazine correctly. Well there's only one way to load a magazine correctly everything else is incorrect. Load it up tap it a few times on your hand elbow or your head whatever.. that way all the bullets get seated and you should have no feeding problems. I hope that your Kel-Tec PMR 30 brings you many years of reliable service.

    • @TargetTime
      @TargetTime  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any firearm is better than none, and anything can be trained enough with. But I would probably suggest away from this for carry. The trigger is insanely light, you touch it shoots. 95% of people who shoot this, I included, jumped the 1st shot. Even after i stressed how light the trigger is.
      22mag is quite impressive on the velocity though for such a tiny package. And this holds 30 of them.
      House gun, camping, woods walk etc. I love it. But idk about anything more stressful than say a snake

    • @NortheastSurvival911
      @NortheastSurvival911 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stopping power doesn't matter if you don't know how to aim. You could have the largest hand cannon on Earth and either miss or not put that bullet in a place where it's going to do massive damage. The 22 magnum has plenty of penetration power. You put two or three in someone's chest it should stop them. I wouldn't recommend carrying a 22 as a personal defense weapon unless your marksmanship skills are top-notch.

    • @TargetTime
      @TargetTime  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is a range gun. I figure if it's weak enough to break after a few Drive fires it's not worth having. Because even if it's not intended for defense weapon It's good to know if you can grab it. Or a if I'm on this side of the house near this safe do I have this loaded and ready inside of it or is this just in the back waiting for a range day and a different gun be up there ready always a plan B

    • @NortheastSurvival911
      @NortheastSurvival911 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah dry firing with this particular setup is not a good idea. I mean if you put snap caps in there that's fine or a spent shell but firing on an empty chamber with a pistol like this.. there's a damn good chance that that firing pin is going right into the breech face. Dry firing a centerfire firearm is a whole another story altogether. When it comes to something like this yeah I definitely wouldn't recommend it. Going to be replacing firing pins real fast quick and in a hurry with too many dry fires on an empty chamber.

    Probably getting peppered from shooting steel so close up

    • @TargetTime
      @TargetTime  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's close? And does it without steel.

    • @NortheastSurvival911
      @NortheastSurvival911 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's unburnt powder. It's not steel it's not the bullet it's not the casing it is quite literally unburnt powder. I mean you don't burn all the powder with a four and a quarter inch barrel. That's why they're such a big flame coming out of the end of it. Now if you put it in the CMR model that's a different story you get a higher velocity and you don't have the problem of getting the little particulates of unburnt powder in the face. But even still I don't see why you would be getting powder in your face like that. I mean coming out of the end of the barrel it should be going in One direction. Away from you.

      Every company it does not matter who they are.. they do not have 100% quality control 100% of the time. Sounds to me like you just got a straight up lemon and I'm fucking amazed that they won't honor the warranty and replace it. If it's nothing that you did to the firearm I'm pretty sure they're obligated under that warranty if in fact it was during the warranty.. to replace it or repair it. I had a problem with a Sig p360. That thing was a piece of shit right out of the box. And I love Sig I really do. I have a lot of their firearms but that one in particular was a shitshow. Failure to feed stove pipes you name it. The fucking recoil spring was incredibly weak. Thankfully I drove my ass right down to Sig with my receipt and the firearm and I had a little face-to-face conversation with them. Fortunately I live in central New Hampshire so Sig Sauer is not that far away. They definitely honored the warranty. It's a little disturbing that Caltech did that to you though. I'm picking mine up in about a week. My PMR 30. I ordered that $250 parts kit. So I'm going to have 650 dumped into this total. And I'm going to be fucking bullshit if this gun doesn't do what it's supposed to do immediately. I mean I'll give it a 200 round break in cuz it's not going to take very long to put 200 rounds through that thing. But if after that I'm having problems.. that's when the phone calls and the emails will begin

    My new PMR30 exploded in my hands with less than 200 rounds fired. Kel Tec knew of this problem and failed to tell the public. They repaired it with all the "New" updates and I had two back to back failure to fires. Sent it back and they did not return all I had paid for the pistol even though it was less than 30 days old and their fault. Terrible customer service. This thing doesn't even make a good rock for self defense. Kel Tec = Junk.
