  • Progress gets thwarted by a defective Starter Motor from Ebay and long wait times on Carb Kits
I decided a shorter video drop now was better than waiting until after Christmas
Hopefully another video of the bodywork progresss next week

Pity about the starter motor, sounds like a bearing to me but you’ll only find out by stripping it down!
Good to see it coming back together 😀

Hi Dave, Yes, that what I suspect. hard to tell from t the video but the starter speeds up a bit once the noise goes away.
We will see what I can work out with the seller and if I can get enough refund to pay to have 1 good starter built form the 2 bad ones, ill do that. They're supposed phone me from the UK tomorrow

Nice to see it coming together and too bad about the starter motor. Really just sounds like bearings and to be honest, id probably just pull them apart and use the best of both. If it's chattering, it can't get to full speed. Btw, a bendix is the sliding engagement assembly usually found in automotive starters. I don't think that bike uses them and usually keeps the starter engaged with a sprag clutch.

Right ! I meant armature I guess, not bendix.
      Thanks Lorne

Remove those 2 long bolts. That cap and spindle comes off and check lubrication. Be careful since there are 2 planet gears that drive the starter spindle.
