3 members of GFriend became VIVIZ and I strongly recommend you watch their Maniac music video and Untie performance video. The visuals and dancing are top tier and the songs really good. The choreography was done by Kany who often works with Beyonce and you can see her influence in the sexy style they embrace for the first time. I am sure you will be very impressed if you react to those 2 videos. The Maniac dance challenge is going viral on Tik Tok with seemingly half of Kpop wanting to dance it with them.
Thank you for reacting to GFRIEND!!! Rough and Navillera are both from 2016 when they were rookies, and Mago is from 2020. So you can really see the change. If you do another Gfriend reaction, I totally recommend their songs Glass Bead (their debut song), Fingertip, and Apple
Gfriend has been inactive for 3 years and they are still in the top 4 female groups with the most music show wins (71 wins). Gfriend comes from such a small company but they were able to compete with other girl groups from big companies and were able to enter the top 5 of 3rd gen girl groups known as TREBLMAYEO (twice, rv, bp, mamamoo, yeojachingu/gfriend)
Gfriend unfortunately disbanded in 2021. It was very sudden/unexpected. The company, Source Music, had pretty much terminated their contracts early because they weren’t making as much money as the company wanted. So the fandom is pretty bitter towards Source Music and HYBE. 3 of the members (Eunha, Sinb, and Umji) made a trio called VIVIZ Members Yuju and Yerin put out solo music And the last member Sowon is currently focusing on acting
Nah, gfriend was doing well. That company was just too greedy, bad management during the pandemic, and at that time they were also more focused on debuting their new gg which they had been preparing since 2019/20.
@@mimbo15116 I didn’t say they weren’t doing well. I said the company wanted more than Gfriend was giving, implying the company was being greedy like you said.
Thanks for reacting to GFriend. If you want to watch any more songs by them I suggest 3 others. Me Gustas Tu is their most famous song and everyone in Korea knows it. It made them famous despite being them being the only group at their unknown bankrupt company. It was the first song to break 100 million streams on the Gaon Chart and the original music video had well over 100 million views on TH-cam before it was deleted after a contractual dispute with the channel where it had been uploaded. Love Whisper has their hardest choreography and can best be appreciated by watching their dance practice. The choreographer was used to working with boy groups, as he usually worked with BTS, so he set the girls a higher bar than any girl group before them. The footwork is so fast with extensive heel and toe moves taken straight from hip hop and a unique twist turn rotation where the body turns first above the waist only and the feet and legs come later. The difficulty level only increases when they perform this with perfect synchronisation and have to always be in the correct position in the formation to the inch, even when they have to hop diagonally backwards to get in position with perfect timing. When they have to sing live at the same time with no lip syncing like many groups, it gets harder still and the bar goes even higher when they perform this live on a music show in a lake of water!!! I doubt that any other group could pull this off. Time for the Moon Night has a dark theme where everyone has died after killing each other or themselves except for Eunha who can now only be reunited with the friends she loved at night in her dreams. So she waits all day when night can reunite them. They didn’t all die at the same time so we have members mourning some already passed in the video and lots of flashbacks of times when they were all alive and so happy together. It is a very confusing video to understand without knowing the extensive lore of their backstory from watching their videos in order which is why I have given you a quick synopsis here. Many members say that it is their favourite song from their entire discography with powerful vocals, orchestral strings and melancholic mood. It relaunched their popularity after it had waned somewhat giving them 10 music show wins.
Cant wait for ur next gfriend reaction, here some recommends, - me gustas tu - time for the moon night - sunrise They music known like an anime vibe that has strings so much, and sometimes like a classical music too
Glad you took the time to react to Gfriend, my favorite kpop group. As you noted, this group was stacked with talent and skill as expressed through its musical and visual instruments. Rough and Navillera may be their most decorated songs in the Kpop world, and Mago, as their farewell comeback, is the best Disco song to me. It's tragic that their journey was stunned prematurely after Mago, but we can continue to enjoy an extensive and exceptional discography. You are quite perceptive about Gfriend's tendency to storytelling. Many of their MVs is a narrative of their underlying message and carry a deep-rooted lore for their followers who enjoy deciphering clues and discovering easter eggs. In addition to personal vibing to the song or hunting for the next visual spectacle, you seem more interested in capturing the full MV experience. Gfriend has more intrigue to offer in case you seek more content. Thanks for the reaction and hope to see you again.
i hope you can also react to viviz! 3 of the members from gfriend are also there. they have 4 title tracks so far which are 'bop bop', 'loveade', 'pull up' and the most recent 'maniac'. but i would also recommend their 'untie' performance video.
Good video! I love your song grouping as you can't really know GFriend unless you know the beginning and not just the Apple & Mago eras. Those three songs really highlight crucial aspects of their journey. Fun Fact: The third song/mv you reviewed, Rough, is themed upon the Japanese animated film The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. If you haven't seen it, it is fun to watch it and look at the mv again. This time travel element features again in the GFriend lore later on. So the move in the chorus where they seem to throw themselves forward is referencing the film (how the character has to leap to activate her time travel), as well as the end formation where they step to the left (the past) as SinB moves her hands in imitation of the hands of a clock forward.
loveeee GFriend! if you continue reacting to them, more songs should be Sunrise, Time for the Moonlight, and maybe some of Yuju/VIVIZ’s songs since that’s a solo member/3member from gfriend in their own careers
Fun fact: the music show wins for the song 'Navillera' are as many as the number if trophies on its MV

•Me Gustas Tu
•Apple
•Love Whisper
•Time for the Moon Night
•Fever

Thanks for checking out gfriend! I'd highly recommend you their song 'Time for the moon night'. Based on your channel name, are you a Nakama? :D
Rough is one of my favourite K-pop songs of all time.
Also, interesting titbit: Dreamcatcher was at one time known as Dark Gfriend
