    I've had a few 95s here in the UK all 22, good rifle excellent engineered as all Weihrauch's are. 95s and 97s best springers can get I'd say.

    I first bought a Beeman R1 back in the 1980's and unfortunately my home was broken into and all my guns were stolen ( including my beloved UZI 9mm ).
    After watching your review and 40 years latter I will order the latest Beeman R9 and get back into Airguns again.

      @@AirgunDetectives Holy crap!! .25!! Was it lobbing the pellets to where you could see the whole length off the pellet trajectory to the target in your scope?!?! Wow......Good call on the upgrade.....Did you go with Vortec or something different like Jim Macari spring kit? Also, are you sporting the Texas Precision Optics brand Sniper brand on that Beeman R9? I've been looking at that brand wondering if I should give them a try or go with the Vector Optics......😕 I usually run Hawke or Primary Arms. Wanting to try something different.

    • @AirgunDetectives
      @AirgunDetectives  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@cornfields-crosshairs4182 I had Jim at Vortek put a custom spring together for me. It shoots a .25 between 600-650 depending on the weight of pellet. Extremely accurate. That added about 100 fps. About 16 FPE. It is actually one of my funnest guns. I can shoot the bottom of shotgun shells at 40 yards. The scope on the R9 is a cheap Chinese made but it is amazing. Glass etched mildot with a lit center dot. Has held zero since day one. Hard to find. I have seen them on ebay for $75.00. Really amazing scope for the price. Nsirius is the brand.

    Love the R9, and it has a Lifetime warranty. I use a Williams Peep FP-AG TK Rear sight. this is a good Rear sight for this gun that will increase the Sight Radius by a Substantial Length, for me this Greatly improves the sights and sight picture of this gun. Accuracy with this Peep sight at 40 yards is very close to shooting with a scope. Love my Hw77K Gen. 2 stock.

    There is ONE negative that many people miss on this fine rifle. The open sights, particularly the rear, are very low. With the comb of the stock being very high, I needed to take a very unorthodox and unnatural hold in order to line it up and fire it. I finally gave in and bought a scope. I'm not much of a scope guy, but there you are. Has anyone else noticed this?

    Great review, love the gun, do you think spring is a better choice than gas piston in break barrel?,

    • @AirgunDetectives
      @AirgunDetectives  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Matt,
      I like the spring models myself if they are properly tuned and lubed. You have options to change out an upgrade those easily and relatively inexpensive. Look at the Vortek kits. I have had a few gas rams fail with no warnings, that's the downside. But, I do have quite a few models with gas rams and I like them as well. I prefer spring piston models if I had to only choose one. The R9 and the HW's are the top Breakbarrels made. Once you shoot these it is very difficult to shoot the others. Instead of purchasing some of the lower level rifles, hold off, save a few extra $ and purchase an Beeman R9. It will be worth the wait I guarantee it. This rifles are simply amazing. My buddy Mike at Flying Dragon Air Rifles can get you the R9 or any of the HW's and he included a full-tune with the price. By far the best deal out there. Tell him I sent you and he'll totally take care of you.😉👍

Although, there are no open sights, you'll have to use a scope. The Sig has plenty of power, easy to cock, not pellet picky, quiet, really nice trigger, accurate and really well built. Look for a sale. Thanks for watching. Keep me posted on what you ultimately purchase and how you like the performance. 👍😉

    It's "Rek-EE-ord", like "am-bee-dex-TREE-us. ;-) It's not necessary to remove the sights since they aren't really visible in the scope. Are those see-through covers you have over the ends of your scope there when you're shooting your chrony shots? My R9 in .177 caliber chronies out to about 940 fps on average with 7.5-8 grain pellets. It turns sparrow-to-starling sized bird pests into vaporized puffs of feathers, I've heard.

    • @AirgunDetectives
      @AirgunDetectives  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can simply tell you...the grouping is the same. I had to play with the distance of the muzzle break on the barrel to achieve the identical grouping as without the muzzle brake. I shot numerous shots with and without. Where you place the brake does make a minor difference in grouping. I spent hours playing with it.

    How does this compare to the sig asp20?

    • @AirgunDetectives
      @AirgunDetectives  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The R9 has less power than the Sig. The R9 is also a spring piston where the Sig has a gas piston. This is a lighter gun. This is fantastic for paper targets and plinking. That is why I have both the Sig and the R9, they are both 5 star guns. Thanks for watching!

    • @EDCandLace
      @EDCandLace 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      R9/HW95 is a far superior gun. The ASP20 is impressive for what it is BUT it is no where near the level of precision of the R9.. The ASP20 is pretty much a 20ftlb gun (the 20 in ASP20) we have tested preproduction versions for SIG close to the final versions.
      The Sig can shoot, and it will put out 20 to 22ftlbs and do so without being so hold sensitive that new to piston gun shooters won't be able to enjoy it.
      The trigger on the ASP is ok but leaves a lot of be desired and the Rekord trigger is as good as it gets in springers (it's truly a match trigger) and that in its self is a huge part of this gun, then you factor in extreme tolerances, a world class barrel, 1.5 to 3 fps standard deviation (after break in).. The list goes on and on (i can just say it's designed and manufactured in Germany... That tells you it's of the highest quality and exacting tolerances )
      The R9 with its pellet of choice is consistently capable of .5 to .75 inch 10 shot groups at 50y.. You talking close to high end PCP accuracy(this is out to 50y... The PCP guns are going to quickly out shoot it as the distance increases) and the Sig will never be capable of 10 shot 50y groups that are sub .75 consistently... The Sig will print 10 shot 50y groups that are in the 1.5 inch range with its preferred diet....again not taking anything away from Sig they built a solid gun for their first attempt at a high performance Springer (gas spring) and came with some solid innovation and did a pretty good job... The HW95/R9 is a 400 dollar gun, the Beech wood stocked ASP20 is 429 and the synthetic is 350... If the Sig was 300 the R9 is way more then 25% more gun for 25% more money. If the wood stocked version of the Sig (i can say 100% in the units we tested the Wood versions shoot better and was less hold sensitive. The gun benefits greatly from the wood stock) was 200 bucks then i would say well maybe the Sig is more gun for the money and that's still a maybe so that tells you just how much more gun the R9 is.
      If i had 500 bucks I could buy the R9 and a Hawke 3-9x40 or I could buy the wood version of the Sig for 200 and the Hawke 3-9x40 for 100 leaving me 200 left over.... I believe I would still go R9 and that would be buying the ASP20 wood version at less then half price and retail for the R9...
      What is your interest in the Sig? Is it the 20 -22ftlbs? Over the 17 to 18ftlbs of the R9? The more tactical looks of the sig vs more traditional R9? If it's power i can assure you that 100% of the time a 17ftlb gun that places the projectile exactly where you want it will put preform a 25ftlb gun that will place the pellet within 1.5 inches of where you want it... At 50y with a ME of 18ftlbs with JSB18.13z that will be about 10.5ftlbs on target and i can consistently put that lead within a .5 inch area that is far more effective then 25ftlbs ME with 18.13s that is 12.5ftlbs on target that will consistently be within 1.25 inch area.. Remember that couple extra ftlbs of ME is nearly nothing at 50y. The R9 will do 18ftlbs with 18.13s and the ASP20 about 21 with 18.13s so 3ftlbs more ME... At 50y that 3ftlbs more energy at the muzzle is only 1ftlb more at the target.
