Thanks for the review. I have one of these and absolutely love it. In .22 there's less muzzle flip, and they really like to be tuned to get rid of the twang, control the recoil, quieten them down and dampen the hold sensitivity a bit (delrin top hat and spring guide, glided piston with delrin bearings added, full fettle, trigger tune.) You can get the pellets through the same hole shot after shot with these 95's with a bit of practice. Lovely gun!
Can you please explain this whole muzzle flip thing please? I wanted to get this in .177 but is there a problem with accuracy due to this thing called muzzle flip? Many thanks. ATB MMMD
@@patrickpirelli7897 Yep I got the .177 and really enjoying it. The cross hairs do jump off target after the shot but the pellets gone where I wanted it to so no problem. ATB MMMD
Been watching your videos for a while now. Always enjoy the talk through as it clear, not rushed and you know what your on about. One thing I noticed and this might be just me. When you cock a break barrel you mentioned about keeping your hand on the barrel, just in case it flys back when inserting a pellet. Since I was knee high to the common grass hopper I was taught to break but not fully cock. Place the pellet in, THEN fully cock when ready to put in the ready position. Other that that I’ve got to say keep these going as they are well informative for all calibre of shooters.
Hi Jan - thanks for the kind words. You're right, the method you describe is another safe way of cocking and loading a break barrel. The only thing to do is make sure you literally break the barrel and don't hold the barrel under tension even a little bit to gain access to the breech. The danger otherwise if your hand slips is that the barrel will snap shut and pinch your fingers. But whatever works for you! Thanks for watching...
Thanks for a comprehensive review. I have two 95s - one in .177 and one in .22 and love them. I've found that a heavier steel moderator (an old Parker Hale in my case) improves their accuracy. I guess that's probably because the additional weight dampens movement of the muzzle better. I managed 4 hits out of 6 shots on a metal knock down target at a measured 87 yards (gun rested on a cushion on a mild, still autumn day) with the .177. Was pretty pleased with that. I also find they are nicer to shoot if you drop the power a little to the low-mid 10 ft lb range. They become smoother and less snappy, especially the .177.
I totally agree, a de-tuned or lower power spring gun has less recoil and lower cocking effort which makes it an easier and nicer gun to shoot. For a .177 to produce the same ftlbs as a .22 the spring in the .177 has to be that bit stronger which makes the .177 more snappy. I generally prefer springers in .22 although the best in my modest collection is an HW77K .177
I have one. It's in 177 and maybe 15 years old? It shoots beautifully with none of the dreaded twang. Just a nice dull clunk as it goes off. Never getting rid of it.
These are cracking rifles I’ve had a 95 for about 10 years now and it’s one of my go to rifles along with the 99s which I bought new just before lockdown for £200 if my memory serves me correct, but prices seemed to have rocketed since!! I do own a couple of weihrauch pcp’s the 110 and the 100s but it’s always nice to go back to my roots by having a wonder with a springer and bringing a rabbit back for the pot.
HW rifles are brilliant, I got my hw 80 .22 in the early 1980s and and used it on several farms clearing out feral pigeons rats and rabbits. I still have that rifle and it would still do that job but it’s me that can’t get around farms these days. Old age and waiting for new knee. Though it is still used on my 20yard range in the back garden along with a HW80 .177 and 2 BSA Ultras. The only thing that spoils it is the price of pellets these days also the good old Eley Wasp’s no longer made, I found that the slightly larger diameter of a UK .22 worked better than the EU .22 in my hw 80.
I read many of these articles and cannot recall one reviewer being able to pronounce the name of the HW, one hears it pronounced whiterock and several other things. Being a fluent German speaker it should be pronounced "Vier- roush. The letter W is never pronounced as W in the German language, but as a V. And the high German meaning translates as "Holy Smoke.
Hi,I have this model, and it’s with out doubt the best break barrel I have had in 47 years of owning air guns, love my Sheridan’s,sharps, but this is the one I pick up for pest work and just for fun...thanks for a good unhyped review.
Good review & nice shooting. I own 3 weihrauch springers at the moment including a .22 hw95 had a problem with barrel flip probably due to the slower speed of a .22 pellet in the barrel so i replaced the whole barrel for a hw98 barrel which completely solved all accuracy problems. Great rifles.
Just bought another today in .22 as l sold my other last year then instantly regretted it, definitely the best break barrel, so accurate and lightweight, these are easily as accurate as the 97.
Great review, I’ve just bought a .22 HW95 after along time away from air gun shooting. I use to own a HW35 as a kid which I really loved. Gutted I sold it!! But HW95 has made up for it. I just like the simplicity of a springer!!!
They do a great job don't they Scott? I have a couple of springers that have been tuned by SFS. Totally transformed my early 80s Webley Vulcan. Thanks for watching.
Hi Richard, weirauch springers are amazing, I want to add one more hw to my collection, I'm torn between this and hw98, I like both, but I'm leaning towards the 98. Great review. Cheers
@@airgunextra Excellent shooting mate, i think that it would better to use a dampa base in order to have a better group for long period of shooting!Of course the hw98 its much better, great review, thanks for all!
Great review - had my HW95L tuned by Paul Short and it shoots beautifully. I love the lighter weight of this rifle and it does just what it says on the tin.
Hi Richard. Great review👍🏻Yes I think weirauch springers are very impressive although I’ve never owned one. Definitely in the future though. Thanks again and Atb👍🏻😀
My Daystate Wolverine is up for sale.......WHY??? Because I can now shoot an 1.5 inch group with my HW95 at 100 yards consistently. Yes it took a lot of practice and concentration and a very light trigger. So yes, my HW95 is every bit as accurate as a PCP. If I wish to take it on a week long fishing trip I also have no concerns with air bottles and all that baggage. HW95 in my opinion is the very best springer ever made. Yep it takes a commitment to practice and learn, once you do it becomes second nature. Um.....er the 97 is its twin, just as accurate, just a bit heavy. Cheers Kit
Great review as ever Rich👍. I had one of these back in the day when they were first released. Stupidly I sold it and had an itch to buy one ever since. Maybe the next one to hide from Mrs. JC😉!!
Once again great video Richard, ive had my 95k 177 for a month now and sandwell tunned , absolutely love it now getting 5 pellets within a 5/10p piece at 30mtrs, the pcp is now put away for the time being, found qys streamlined and domed and hn trophy give good results, atb Mike.
I'm really enjoying the HW95 Richard. I've managed to make an 18mtrs range at home and as a beginner I am getting 10p groups off a seat and tripod, so pretty happy for starters. Practice practice practice ! Air Arms Diablo Field work well, and Bisley Super Field are also pretty good. Thanks for all your help mate. ATB MMMD
Nice vid. Sold a Hw77 with scope for £40 a year ago.....foolish I know. Have a question....why have most makers switched to carbine length barrels? ......Whether it be a springer Pcp or Co2 they are all doing it! I have a theory that a non carbine barrel length within reason is more accurate. I do understand that a longer barrel can increase the muzzle energy. Having said that I think the makers are cutting costs at the expense of accuracy due to ease of keeping UK rifles sub 12 flbs. It also saves on machining and transport if bought in due to weight. Could be an interesting topic for your Vlog!
The shorter barrel gives less chance or time or option for error prior to pellet actually leaving the barrel. So shorter barrel is more accurate overall for most shooters as it reduces the requirement for a perfect hold substantially. Cheers Kit
I was thinking of adding a bayonet to mine, was the only way i could hit anything, gave it to a friend who has being shooting almost 50 years, all air guns types and real guns, he couldn't hit nothing with it, long story short took a full tbt kit with short stroke and heavier moderator to sort, now its bang on, mines in .22 and apparently .177 is far worse, its quite a marmite gun some people get on with them no problems, others it just doest work, glad i finally fixed mine.
Amazing that they don't even fit a top hat. Fitted a TBT kit in mine and it now shoots lovely, no more muzzle flip and smooth as can be. Great rifles. Would love to try a Walther, but am a fan of .20, so HW95 it has to be.
@@robertomartinez1741 I have a 100 too, my only rifles. I missed an 80 in .20 at my local shop a couple of weeks ago - would love to see if the added weight makes it easier to shoot accurately than the 95.
My favorite air rifles are break barrel, aka 'springers' What a pity the only dealer I can find in Canada is almost totally sold out of the Weihrauch inventory. I have been waiting now for more than a year for their new inventory to arrive. I did wonder what these '95's' would be like now I know. Thanks for doing a review on this one. I do hope it would be too long before you do another break barrel rifle review. Thumbs up on this one for sure!
That's too bad Reg. I think supply is a bit of a general issue right now, but hopefully you'll get your rifle soon. And yes, we hope to do a few more springers before too long. Thanks for watching.
Great video , thanks for sharing very informative and enjoyable to watch , I have bought one of these and I'm over the moon with it , ( I put a tbt kit in mine and it transformed it to be very quiet with just the dull thud you mentioned ) Having watched your air arms prosport video I bought one of them too . Outstanding channel thanks again 👍
very good guns but by the right tuning can be made into a truly superb gun.My .22 hw95 was tuned in 2019 and is a pleasure to shoot .5p size groups at up to 45 yards is well within the guns capability. They are set up to produce about 15/16fpe and need to be tuned to our uk sub 12fpe to give their best.Do that and you will love it forever!
How much😱 nahhh i drove up Newcastle yesterday in my camper from Redcar after 6 months travelling Scotland before returning home and bought the Hw95k from bagnells for £376 and amazing really accurate. Before it I bought a BSA lightning GRT XL es from keiths sports in saltburn and returned it after a day, terrible rifle that one. So yes, these days stick to weihrauch as I put pellet on pellet from my camper in pitch black under torch light from new, not sure it's got competition at the price point, the only thing I don't like but Ile get use to is that bloody safety catch that stops me pulling the trigger 😂 thanks for the vid
Great vid , but I don't think I can comment really , the only Springer I've got is a 1974 BSA Mercury .. me old dad bought me back in the day .. certainly wouldn't sell it , and it's nowhere near as accurate as that weirauch , mind ya , never missed much back in the day .. none of those huge scopes either .. open sights the name of the game .. aahhhhh the good ole days .. had a permission over the back of my house .. miles of farmland and even more woodland .. big shopping mall now ( merry hill centre ) .. oh .. and a ( gorra be ) late 50's / early 60's Diana pistol .. been meaning to find it , amid an hundred ton of junk up the attic ... That was my grandad's .. great times ..
Richard Saunders -- 10:10 -- I know this part is about resetting the safety but can an HW rifle be decocked similar to a Diana? Great video by the way! 😉👍
Thanks very much and indeed it can. Re-brake the barrel, hold it down and take a firm grip of the barrel, hold it firmly before pulling the trigger and controlling the spring.
Richard. Great review of a classic. I’ve had a lot of fun shooting springers over last ten years. Currently I’m transitioning to PCP which I’m hoping will be just as enjoyable
I've been in the same point few years ago. Got HW95 and bought AA S400 and after that HW100. I was like "I dont need nothing more, my best rifle". But after time PCP started to be boring and I sold my PCP gear with HW100 and got back to my old HW95
Thank you for the video. Enjoy watching your appearances on the shooting show. I have one of these and use it on my permission for rats, pigeons, rabbits, squirrels. Its a great springer and so glad I did not buy a cheaper springer. If I ever go for a PCP I will purchase a HW 100KT as so impressed with the HW95K. Out of curiosity have you ever tested the ft/lbs through a chronograph for the HW95K with various pellets.
Hi and thanks very much. The HW95 is a great springer, and the HW100KT one of the best PCPs. I put my .22 HW95 through the chrono every now and then and it a consistent 11.3 ft/lbs with 16 grain pellets. I've not tested other pellets to be honest, but I suspect they'd be around the same mark. Thanks for watching.
I've just done similar groups with my HW 100KT, it actually becomes a bit boring, I'm about to collect a new underlever springer HW 57, a rifle I'm going to tune and polish seer and piston. I'm keen to tune out the boiiiiing and see if an HW moderator actually does make a significant difference.
Springers are more of a challenge, but good ones are every bit as capable as PCPs, and much more rewarding when you shoot them well. I'm sure a mod will help your HW57, but - as you point out - most of the noise on a springer is mechanical so I'm sure your work will be rewarded. Enjoy your new rifle...
I have just purchased a HW99S, 50 years after my Airsporter was stolen when I was a teenager, Could you review one? The HW95K looks like it might qualify as the standard by which other springers might be judged.
Hi Robert. There's not a huge difference, and both are excellent and very capable springers. If we can get our hands on a 99S I'll put it through the recording garage!
I have the HW95 little bro, the HW 99s, it is solid but not over heavy. As I use it scoped, I circumcised it. Removing its foresight and made a faux moderator from bits of plumbing, enveloping it in a length of rubber innertube, a heavyweight condom if you like. That bit of extra weight reduced muzzle flip, and just maybe, reduced the twang somewhat. Like Casimodo, I have a hunch, that some of the twang is a consequence of not having absolute control of the inline barrel action. Maybe it's psychosomatic, all I can say is my HW99s shoots and sounds great. However, I would be curious to know if my DIY 'moderator' has any sound deadening effect.
That works fine as long as you don't for some reason forget to cock the rifle and also, on most rifles the breech is exposed, but on some you need to put a bit of pressure on the barrel to fully expose the breech which can result in you pinching your finger if you're not careful. Thanks for watching.
I have just bought a fairly new .177 HW95 model. Lovely gun and seems far more accurate than my mk1 BSA supersport. Would love to get rid of the twang though. I converted my BSA to gas ram, so I’m sure I could fit a modification to the HW95. Any suggestions as to what to purchase?
I think you'd be better served by getting it professionally tuned. I can recommend Lyn Lewington at ARC Tuning. Failing that, you could install a tuning kit yourself - V-Mach or Tinbum would be my recommendation.
Heklo Richard, I was hoping you'd be able to help me with your opinion... Im looking at getting a Weihrauch HW80k or a Weihrauch HW95 Luxus, would you recommend one over the other or have a preference? Thanks, Steve
Hi Steve. Both great rifles, but of the two I think I'd go for an HW80...It's heavier, but that deals with the recoil. If you have the cash left over, get it professionally tuned - I recommend ARC Tuning - and you'll have one of the best break barrels money can buy...
@@airgunextra Thank you so much Richard, I was actually leaning towards the HW80k myself but wanted to know your thoughts. Huge fan of the channel btw. Thanks again!
You're very welcome, and thanks for the encouraging comments. The scope in the video is an MTC Mamba Ultra Lite alphamilitaria.com/shop/mtc-mamba-ultralite/. We also produced a video on some great budget scopes that might be helpful th-cam.com/video/waOLuSpq8qw/w-d-xo.html The main thing is to ensure the scope you buy has adjustable parallax (not fixed parallax). Good luck!
Won't it knock that zoom scope to pieces after a while? Owned something similar as a teenager, but I'd go for a 4x32 if i ever bought another air rifle - it's a short range gun.
Hi Nick. Nope, it hasn't done so far, and its been on an HW77K for the last several months. MTC scopes are pretty good quality and rated for centrefire/rimfire. Never had an issue with them on springers...
@@airgunextra Time on the gun does not mater. How many shots the scope took does. A mag 30 fpe srpinger will break most scoped in under 500 shots. So I paid a bit extra for a Leupold Freedom series 3 x 9 - 33 mm adjustable objective with a lifetime warranty. It lasted almost 5000 shots before I had to send it back for repairs. It needs more now after another 3000 shots. I say nobody makes a scope durable enough for a mag springer. But count your shots to see when yours fails. That little Leupold is a great, and very light scope. But I paid extra, (like $250.00), to have a mill dot retacle put in it, that should be standard IMO. But as long as they keep fixing it, best there is IMO.
Hi does the silencer really work on this springer? Is there any noticeable difference in noise reduction with the silencer screwed on?? Thank You and keep doing these videos...I love 'em!
Hi Raffaele and thanks very much. We're glad you like our videos. Silencers will only ever address noise coming out of the end of the barrel and as most of the noise on a springer/gas ram is mechanical it won't do anything for that. So the answer is 'yes' the silencer reduces muzzle crack but you'll still get noise from the mechanical spring action. However, tuning the HW95 will help.
Hi Richard. I notice that you seem to cradle the front of the rifle in your palm. I seem to find it comfortable to raise the gun in my fingers, not tightly, but a bit like a posh waiter would hold a drinks tray. Is this okay if I maintain consistency? Thanks ATB MMMD
Hi. Yes, of course, whatever works for you. As long as your hold is consistent so the rifle will recoil in the same way each time. Is the 95K still going well for you?
.In my humble oppinion you cannot have a collection without one of these in it We all know the germans make great guns.." .. they always have and the Air rifles are no differant. The 95 is my favorite springer full stop, beautifully made precision thats oozes quality the second you touch it. A must have rifle in your Collection. Buy one u will not be disappointed . Mine was out just yesterday my first shoot since shoulder surgery 7 weeks ago ... No there was no pain afterwards i hope that goes along wsy to say just how well they are made as trust major shoulder injury surgery is very very painfull. If you can shoot well with this , A high end pcp will make you the White Death " . 👍
Hi Richard, just a quick update. My groups are often sub 5p with the 95K now at 20yrds, never far off if not. As you say, they take practice but you can be very accurate with these rifles. I have flicked the heads off a few wooden golf tees at 20yrds too. It's a beautiful gun when you start to bond with it. ATB MMMD
@@derekedgley5074 Hi Derek. Yes, I believe you can buy direct from them. But if you have a preferred RFD they would be able to order for you. It'll be the longest 12 weeks of your life 😂. Let us know if you need a scope to go with it 😉.
I have a HW80 MK I .177 with a Vortek High Output kit in it. How does this HW95L compares to it? I find the HW80 is a too heavy for dragging around and it takes time to learn to shoot it well. I still can't get rid of the 1 on 10 or so flyer due to inconsistency in the shooting cycle on my end. I'm hesitating to buy a HW95L in the hope that it's lighter and a bit more 'forgivable' on a less experienced shooter. Would you recommend the .177 or .22?
Hi Lawrence. The HW95 is indeed lighter than the HW80. As to whether it's more accurate than the HW80 I couldn't say. For sure, its capable of good accuracy, but I don't think I could honestly say it is more capable than the HW80. The extra bulk of the 80 is a factor, but does help with the rifle's recoil. Have you considered a sling?
Hi Richard just out of interest did or was this rifle tuned when you shot it or as i am guessing "out of the box" i have just got one in .22 and there is the twang but in your video i couldnt make it out. I will more than likley put a drop in kit at some point although it is a very accurate rifle off the bat.
Hi. Just about every Weihrauch I've ever shot has been a bit 'twangy' out of the box, but as you say, it doesn't make them less accurate. In fact, the rifle in the video also had a twang but the camera didn't pick it up. I've sometimes noticed that a rifle that seems to twang loudly to you as the shooter isn't anywhere near as bad to someone stood a short distance away. Weihrauchs are great rifles but in terms of firing cycle/noise they nearly always benefit from a tune. I send mine to ARC Tuning and they come back transformed. Very reasonable £-wise too.
I own a Weihrauch HW99S and HW97K both in .177. I find the 97k to be too heavy. I went to Essex Gun in Dagenham to buy a 95K in .22 but they didn't seem too keen in ordering one for me. Is it worth me going for hw95k in .177? I don't drive so I would face problems refilling a PCP.
Hi. Plenty of other gun shops would, I'm sure, be happy to supply you with a .22 HW95K. The 95K is great in .177, but I've always preferred in .22 calibre. It just seems a little more stable. Good luck.
Great review. If you get a regular luxus with a 410mm barrel and add the plug in silencer from weihrauch. Do you get the same résults on the sound ? Is the hw95k a 12 fts energy or 15 ??
Hello Richard . What a beautiful air gun !!! I own 2 HW 77k´s in .177 and .22 . Both in sub 12 configuration (maybe I told it before. can´t remember ) In the country I live there is no power restriction, but any cal. over .177 I need to fill out a firm and send it to the Police department;but no problem ! I´m a good guy !!:)) ... My notice is ; I´v got a air rifle from a good friend of mine and I did not see what brand it is before I removed the BSA scope 4x20 ( very blurry but original ) than I saw it is a BSA Super Meteor( rubber but pat and Monte Carlo stock) from 1967-1969 what I found out so fare. Serial number is ND 8116 Now my question ; can you confirm this after reading ? And what fpe these guns have had when they been produced ??? I shut thru the crony an I´v got 3.6 fpe with a 5.5grain lead free pellet . I think it´s an old(original ) mainspring in it. One last thing: can I switch the old spring with a new "Titan " sub 12 spring? Or ar 10 -12 fpe to much for this " Beauty " ? Oh... it is accurate as hell!! I putt on a red dot on it and up to 35 yds ....lights out! Also with open sights! I want to keep this gun because it´s my " first" Brake barrel after my Haenel Mod. 300 (GDR) wich I´v got from my dad 1975 (8 yrs old) Thanks for your patience and I hope you can help me about the questions I have !!!! Great´s from Norway :))
That sounds like a real find. I'll be honest, I don't know too much about the rifle. But I do know that if you contact John Knibbs International, they will not only be able to give you a lot of information about your rifle, including manufacture date and specs, but also be able to provide you with spare parts. www.airgunspares.com/ Good luck!
Hi I've just brought my first ever springer its a 177 hw 95, im very new to air rifle shooting and was wondering what the average price would be to have it tuned.
Hi Gary. Great choice on a first springer. There are lots of great tuning services. I'd recommend Sandwell Field Sports, but check with them on lead time first. Also, Lyn Lewington air-rifle-tuning.com/v-mach/Fitting_Services.html. Lyn tuned my HW80, fitting V-Mach internals and I cannot praise his work enough. Prices are around £150 upwards depending on what you want done. Good luck!
Thanks very much for that mate , I've not put any more than 50 pellets though yet , not had the weather, been told that you should put atleast 200 through to bed it in first, but love the rifle.
@@garyhaden2390 Yes, a couple of hundred should do it. Did you clean the barrel first? They often come with oil and grease to prevent rusting whilst in storage. A good pull-through will get you up and running. Tuning will certainly get the most from your rifle. An HW95 is a great rifle, a tuned HW95 is something else!
No didn't pull through the barrel, as i said im VERY new, thanks for your time and help i really appreciate it. And i will clean the barrel and certainly will get it tuned, to be honest im liking the break barrel i personal think it's harder to shoot than a pcp and i like that , thanks again 👍
Hi. All those rifles have their following and are fine airguns. The HW97K is obviously and underlever and the others a break barrels. In truth, they are all capable of high degrees of accuracy. The one you choose comes down to budget and which one you like the look and feel of more than the others. The 99S is a lighter than the others and the 98 is considered by some as the updated version of the HW80. Having shot them all though, you won't go far wrong with any of them. As I have said before, between these rifles you can afford to let your heart rule your mind as there is no bad choice.
Thankyou for your detailed reply it is much appreciated......... I've owned lots of airguns from bsa meteor to hw100 ...but having been away from the sport I now find myself only having a love for springers ... the hw90 is a gasram I thought they were no or low maintenance but do they need filling or replacing once again thank you 👍
I've owned a hw99s in 177 for around a year now. Would it be worth upgrading to this rifle? Is this easier to cock than the 99s too? I find mine hard to cock.
Thanks Richard do you recommend the Mamba scope on a rifle which has a fair old kick to it ? Looking for some expert advice been told that scopes can be damaged I have an HW 97K carbine and want a scope thanks again

Hello again .;))) My top notch air rifle about Weihrauch is the HW 98 because of the stock( walnut if available ) The other top air rifle I really !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! want to call my own is the Pro Sport from Air Arms !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You know... what i´v seen about this gun kicks me so hard !!But the price hurts me as well . here in Norway it´s about 1200 british pounds! Crazy prices !!! I put a link to the shop who sell specially Air Arms .Any price you see divide by 10 ...maybe 11 ...so you have english pounds. cheers my friend :)
Hi Jim. As I said in the video, a silencer won't do anything to quieten mechanical noise, but will mute muzzle crack and is quite effective with a tuned springer. Thanks for watching.
I'm torn between this and the Gamo GX40. I love the simplicity of springers and the lack of accessories, however, I do think that the GX40 will be easier to shoot, and therefore more humane if I want to go hunting in future. Your thoughts please? ATB MMMD
Hi MMDD. The HW95 is a great springer, but like all great springers, it needs plenty of practice in order to extract the best from it. The GX40 will be a lot easier to shoot accurately and I agree that it would probably be he best choice for hunting. I saw your other message too. The NP-03 is worth looking at as well (over the NP-02 in my opinion). And whilst there is very little between the GX40 and Phox package, as you say, the scope would be something you'd probably disregard in favour of something better anyway. It would be a toss up between the Phox and the NP-03. There are no wrong choices there and I'd be happy with either for hunting - both legal limit and accurate, but personally I'd probably find myself veering towards the Kral. But if they didn't have any in stock, I'd be more than happy with the Gamo. I hope that helps!
Great review always very informative, I've only been shooting for 3 months, i own a walther rm8 177, and a walther reign also 177, but im due to pick up mt hw 95 177 on Friday can't wait.
Nice review. What is the cocking weight? It looks easy for you! Is it legal in the U.K.? Do you need a license? what about carrying it around? Poor rabbits and pigeons!
Thanks very much. To be honest, I'm not sure what the exact cocking weight is. I can say that it is smooth and easy to cock and a lot lighter than most other break barrels. Air rifles less than 12 ft/lbs do not require a license in most of the UK. The exception is Scotland. And its a lovely light rifle - easy to carry around all day. Thanks for watching.
At 32.8 yards, not bad, but not super impressive either IMO. Try just laying the fore-stock on your palm (don't grab the gun), and before you squeeze the trigger, move the gun away from your cheek and shoulder to as light as a touch as you can. I use my middle finger for the trigger, and steady the gun with my index finger up on the stock to stabilize the gun when squeezing the trigger. (a good trigger helps a lot, but possible to shoot well with a crappy trigger, with practice). I bet you can get that group half that size with out varying cheek and shoulder pressure on the stock. The basic idea is that you can shoot well with any grip, if you can repeat the forces into the stock, shot after shot, day after day, year after year. Zero force, (as little as possible and still be steady), Is the most repeatable. Then you have the scope, (which may not be doing a good job with repeatability), and pellet quality to worry about. As you get used to "zero force" on the stock, and a good pellet that you have proven out, you will be able to tell if your scope is failing.
Hi Gary. We've reviewed both the 77 and 97 on the channel if that helps. Of the two, I prefer the 77 but in truth the only difference between the two is the stock. Either would be an ideal partner for your 95. Good luck!

ATB MMMD
@@MudMaxMetalDetecting nahhh i e just bought this in 177 and it's great £376 from bagnells in Newcastle
@@patrickpirelli7897 Yep I got the .177 and really enjoying it. The cross hairs do jump off target after the shot but the pellets gone where I wanted it to so no problem. ATB MMMD
Why doesn't it come like this in the first place. It's quite an expensive piece.
Thanks very much Laurie. Good tip re the silencer too.
Well said Jonathan. I couldn't agree more.
I wanted an 80 as a kid in them days. Did it get more clangy or smoother after all these years?
Thanks Richard.
Hi,I have this model, and it’s with out doubt the best break barrel I have had in 47 years of owning air guns, love my Sheridan’s,sharps, but this is the one I pick up for pest work and just for fun...thanks for a good unhyped review.
Thanks Ben. It puts a smile on your face doesn't it?
Good review & nice shooting. I own 3 weihrauch springers at the moment including a .22 hw95 had a problem with barrel flip probably due to the slower speed of a .22 pellet in the barrel so i replaced the whole barrel for a hw98 barrel which completely solved all accuracy problems.
Great rifles.
Thanks very much Lawrence. Glad you managed to get your .22 sorted. Good tip too.
Just bought another today in .22 as l sold my other last year then instantly regretted it, definitely the best break barrel, so accurate and lightweight, these are easily as accurate as the 97.
Got to be the best break barrel on sale right now, certainly one of them!
Great review, I’ve just bought a .22 HW95 after along time away from air gun shooting. I use to own a HW35 as a kid which I really loved. Gutted I sold it!! But HW95 has made up for it. I just like the simplicity of a springer!!!
Thanks very much Stewart. They won't let you down!
Great shooting and very informative review. Thanks for sharing this with us. Appreciate your reviews
Thanks very much Rod.
I've got a 177 hw95 ( Sandwell tuned) and it's the best air rifle I've owned 👍
They do a great job don't they Scott? I have a couple of springers that have been tuned by SFS. Totally transformed my early 80s Webley Vulcan. Thanks for watching.
Hi Richard, weirauch springers are amazing, I want to add one more hw to my collection, I'm torn between this and hw98, I like both, but I'm leaning towards the 98. Great review. Cheers
Its a great rifle too...
I've purchased a 98 to add to my 97...it's superb but hard to find as stock in the UK is very limited at the moment
@@airgunextra Excellent shooting mate, i think that it would better to use a dampa base in order to have a better group for long period of shooting!Of course the hw98 its much better, great review, thanks for all!

These are treated as toys in certain us states 😂
Don't get me wrong I know they can be deadly
Great review - had my HW95L tuned by Paul Short and it shoots beautifully. I love the lighter weight of this rifle and it does just what it says on the tin.
Hiya mate.....does the hw 95 have a spring or gas ram system?
He does great work. I'm not surprised it shoots beautifully. Thanks for watching.
Its a springer. The HW90 is the only Weihrauch gas ram and a good one at that.
Hi Richard.
Great review👍🏻Yes I think weirauch springers are very impressive although I’ve never owned one.
Definitely in the future though.
Thanks again and Atb👍🏻😀
You know you want one Justin!
@@airgunextra I do😂
Btw Richard I’ve decided my first brand new pcp is going to be a Ratworks tuned HW100S in .177.👍🏻
@@justingreen9262 Great choice Justin.
Cheers

Great review as ever Rich👍. I had one of these back in the day when they were first released. Stupidly I sold it and had an itch to buy one ever since. Maybe the next one to hide from Mrs. JC😉!!
We've all been there JC! You know the only way is to scratch that itch! Thanks for watching.
Great rifle, I've had 2 myself currently own a rat works tuned hw95 in .177. Little thud and right through the same hole 👍

Very informative review, thanks for posting. I haven't used a springer rifle for years, but I do like the more classic styling of this one.
Thanks very much. Its a real looker. I think the Luxus is worth the extra few quid over the standard HW95. Thanks for watching.
Thanks Mike. SFS do some great work, especially with Weihrauch springers.
For £400 it shouldn't need tuning.
ATB MMMD
Nice shooting MMMD, with any rifle but especially with a springer.
Cheers
Kit
Hi Richard. I just bought one of these today after an exhaustive search for a springer! This video was very helpful with regards my final decision 👍
You've made a great choice, and I'm glad we could help. Thanks for letting us know and enjoy your new rifle.
Fabulous. I have a 98. Is it as good as the 95.
Had it tuned by Tony Wall. West Brom
A true master. Tony has tuned several of my springers. The difference is unbelievable!
I was thinking of adding a bayonet to mine, was the only way i could hit anything, gave it to a friend who has being shooting almost 50 years, all air guns types and real guns, he couldn't hit nothing with it, long story short took a full tbt kit with short stroke and heavier moderator to sort, now its bang on, mines in .22 and apparently .177 is far worse, its quite a marmite gun some people get on with them no problems, others it just doest work, glad i finally fixed mine.
i have a hw 99s and depending on the pellet it is incredibly accurate , they are beautiful guns though and i cant see me ever selling mine
Great rifles David. We're planning on testing one soon...
Amazing that they don't even fit a top hat. Fitted a TBT kit in mine and it now shoots lovely, no more muzzle flip and smooth as can be. Great rifles. Would love to try a Walther, but am a fan of .20, so HW95 it has to be.
Just put tbt in my 95 it's great no more twang and less recoil!
Nice!... I love 20 cal too, I have the HW80 & HW100 in that cal
@@robertomartinez1741 I have a 100 too, my only rifles. I missed an 80 in .20 at my local shop a couple of weeks ago - would love to see if the added weight makes it easier to shoot accurately than the 95.

Loving the show Mr Saunders 👍
Nice to see a brake barrel on the table for a change. Very tidy bit of kit.

Great Shooting got one my self cheers
A real classic there Mark. I wish I still had mine! A a great keepsake from your dad as well.
Richard Saunders -- 10:10 -- I know this part is about resetting the safety but can an HW rifle be decocked similar to a Diana?
Great video by the way! 😉👍
Hello yeah you can de Cock it
Thanks very much and indeed it can.
Thanks very much Ron. Enjoy the journey!
I've been in the same point few years ago. Got HW95 and bought AA S400 and after that HW100. I was like "I dont need nothing more, my best rifle". But after time PCP started to be boring and I sold my PCP gear with HW100 and got back to my old HW95
thats how a quality german rifle should sound like.mein gott going to get one..have a good weekend break good video as always.
Thanks very much. You have a good weekend too.
Can you review the HW98 rifle
On the list Ramon! Thanks for watching.
@@airgunextra That would be great.
Sounds like a great mod Harry.
Try loading the pellet before cocking a break barrel, much safer than holding the barrel with a cocked action 😊👍
That works fine as long as you don't for some reason forget to cock the rifle and also, on most rifles the breech is exposed, but on some you need to put a bit of pressure on the barrel to fully expose the breech which can result in you pinching your finger if you're not careful. Thanks for watching.
I can't decide between a 99S and a 95 luxus, is the 95 a better rifle all round or is it more difficult to shoot?
Incredibly nice 😉👍. Love mine, I have one in 22.
Just bought one £365 brand new from Melbourne guns, hull cartrage marked , absolutely brilliant rifle ,

Hi Richard , used to have one of these in 177 but part exchanged it as I couldn't get it to group , barely 2 inches at 20 yards on a good day 😒
Sorry to hear that Marty.
Best break barrel for me from the air rifles I've shot, I think is the LGV. I like the hw99s and Webley Longbow as well.
Yes, great rifle Jimmy (the LGU too) but unfortunately no longer made :(
Melbourne guns in derbyshire have them for £365, i know I've just bought one in .177 , brilliant rifles, 😁👍

As an extra note with regards to cost of the hw95 vs cost of a equivalent pcp, there's also the cost of filling the pcp to factor in too.
That is true...Good point.
And maintenance costs

Heklo Richard, I was hoping you'd be able to help me with your opinion... Im looking at getting a Weihrauch HW80k or a Weihrauch HW95 Luxus, would you recommend one over the other or have a preference? Thanks, Steve
Hi Steve. Both great rifles, but of the two I think I'd go for an HW80...It's heavier, but that deals with the recoil. If you have the cash left over, get it professionally tuned - I recommend ARC Tuning - and you'll have one of the best break barrels money can buy...

You're very welcome, and thanks for the encouraging comments. The scope in the video is an MTC Mamba Ultra Lite alphamilitaria.com/shop/mtc-mamba-ultralite/. We also produced a video on some great budget scopes that might be helpful th-cam.com/video/waOLuSpq8qw/w-d-xo.html
The main thing is to ensure the scope you buy has adjustable parallax (not fixed parallax).
Great video great detail keep it up mate
Thanks very much Bill.
Very good rifle very useful info

Hi. Yes, of course, whatever works for you. As long as your hold is consistent so the rifle will recoil in the same way each time. Is the 95K still going well for you?

@@airgunextra Many thanks Richard 👍🏻
@@dobbo4596 Any time. Please let us know if there's anything else we can help with.
@@airgunextra TbT kit ordered today , rifle stripped down and all ready for when it arrives 👍🏻
@@dobbo4596 I'm sure you'll notice a big difference. Have fun!
I have a beeman r9 in 22 and can't find a moderator for it anywhere!!!
If its not threaded to accept a silencer I'm sure a good gunsmith would be able to sort it out for a modest outlay. Thanks for watching.
Good luck.
@@airgunextra Thank you for your reply.
Great review. If you get a regular luxus with a 410mm barrel and add the plug in silencer from weihrauch. Do you get the same résults on the sound ? Is the hw95k a 12 fts energy or 15 ??
Hi. The test rifle was sub 12 ft/lbs. Most of the noise from a springer is mechanical noise and a silencer won't do much to address that I'm afraid.
@@airgunextra thanks for your reply. Have you tested the hw50s ? Or hw99 i believe in the uk
@@airgunextra Thanks my friend !!!!!
Walther lgv competition ultra.
Just a shame they're not made anymore...
Hi does this match the 98 and is the 35 lagging behind say the 98 97k 99s 80 thank you 👍
Hi. Its probably a little easier to cock, but not appreciably so I'm afraid...Thanks for watching though.
Thanks Richard do you recommend the Mamba scope on a rifle which has a fair old kick to it ? Looking for some expert advice been told that scopes can be damaged I have an HW 97K carbine and want a scope thanks again
Hi Allan. I use a Mamba Lite 3-12x42 on my HW77k without problem - th-cam.com/video/UuTi2MjmL6w/w-d-xo.html. We're offering £20 off our scopes of you're tempted alphamilitaria.com/brand/mtc/
Wow! You know you have to have one though!
The squirrel /rat/ rabbit /bird dont hear a sound silencers for spring guns ?
@@airgunextra Thanks Richard, great advice buddy ! ATB MMMD
Great review always very informative, I've only been shooting for 3 months, i own a walther rm8 177, and a walther reign also 177, but im due to pick up mt hw 95 177 on Friday can't wait.
Thanks Gary. That's quite a collection you're building!
@@airgunextra yes mate ,got the Bug, always looking out for your reviews on what to buy next, still got so much to learn.
Can you buy 1of these with a walnut stock
Hi Nick. I believe it is 'walnut finish' which makes me think it isn't! That said, it's a nice piece of wood and looks great.
@@airgunextra yeah I know what you mean finished to look like Walnut looks a great gun very well made
Nice review.
Just brought the hw 95, next one is either hw77 or the hw 97kt whats people's opinion please , by the way love the hw95.
Hi Gary. We've reviewed both the 77 and 97 on the channel if that helps. Of the two, I prefer the 77 but in truth the only difference between the two is the stock. Either would be an ideal partner for your 95. Good luck!
@@airgunextra thanks very much for that, i was leaning towards the hw 77 , think you just made up my mind 😀
Just put tape on the guide so the spring is snugh on tbe guide .

I want a quality break barrel with iron sight
Might as well use a sling shot with marbles.
