got to love this hobby. watched a few vids and some great finds. I love all history especially the history below our feet. dig em all the real treasures often don't sound good. best of luck in the new year and thanks for sharing. cheers Nathan
Nice finds! Great vid bro. I subbed ya! I just started a channel myself. Not nearly the success out in my parts of the country, at least not on land. I am going to try some river and lake hunting at some point but still trying to find success on land. Happy Detectin' and Diggin'!
I don't know anything about metal detecting as a matter of fact this is my first ever met dey vid but more impressive to me is that you would go out in the water just to pick up a beer can. What a fine young man! What a great job your parents did.
hey I'm really fascinated by what you do and I always wanted to treasure hunt myself never had the opportunity and now I have saved up a small budget as a beginner can you recommend a metal detector for me I would like to start doing this as a hobby
7:53 Actually there is a way you can beat that. I did it. I found a 1909 wheat penny that is 3 inches in diameter. Yours is a little bit smaller. I beat the king!
Okay, I don't have FB! I would love to get more into metal detecting. I have a basic detector and do it on occasion but want to do more. I am retired military and about sell my house and start traveling and this would be great to get into.
I have never seen that specific one before. So couldn't tell you without researching. I've seen people find the 1 oz copper bullion rounds before. But that thing is a beast! Haha.
If you put the item in your palm when you show it to the camera the focus will pick up ;) Nice video, but it was frustrating that you couldn't properly see what you were talking about!
"selling of the pentagon" In February 1971, CBS broadcast this documentary-an exposé of the use of public funds to promote the Vietnam War. The ensuing controversy became a landmark First Amendment case as it pertained to television news (60 minutes).
I've been wanting to get into metal detecting for about a year now watching all these videos on TH-cam.. I've been collecting coins for a year and a half and have over 50 American coins with silver from working a second job at a over night store and my question is if I get a detector and search for coins will there be a noise or icon on the screen to let you know if it's clad or actually have silver in it.. I live in a house that's almost 100 years old An house has been remodeled and it's nice An huge with a nice size yard.. the thing that makes me excited is that the first owner was a doctor an like I said it's a huge house so I don't know if his practice was here but I think it was an I bet their is a lot of old stuff and coins in my yard and I also live in NC on Roanoke island woo you know that's an old island because of the lost colony history
I lost some gold coins at random spots right in the area you are searching , if you find them for me I'll give you a little reward and I'll be your friend.....
I collect all my change and turn it in for cash after a few months. but before I do I sort through it all and every time I pull out a handful of dimes, quarters, Nickels below 1965. are they that valuable of a find? I noticed in one video you mentioned you had a goal for how much silver you wanted to find in a year, is that just counting metal detecting? because I'll find 50 silvers in 6 months. that's just counting what I actually notice. a lot of the time change builds up in my car and i spend it on coffee without going through it
Nickels are not worth that much in circulated condition.. but the war nickels 42-45 have 35% silver.. Yeah even in 2017 you can find some good coins that are still in circulation.. Keep a eye out and once in a while you find a score! Thanks for watching.
This is the most information I have found on it. This medal was the first of five satirical medals designed by Robert W. Julian, who wrote the standard reference work on U.S. Mint medals. Julian’s political views are skewed to the right more than a little bit, had a great deal of fun poking his medallic stick at the Liberal establishment. In the process, he has enriched our political and medallic heritage. 1,340 medals were struck in bronze
Was it just novelty? It's not an award, right? Sold or given away? I do think I have seen one before, but forgot about it. I just don't understand the why. It seems pointless. Publicity stunt? Have you ever seen the coins that are half the size of normal coins? Quarters, nickels dimes and pennies that are unrealistically small, but their real coins? It reminds me of those. Another pointless novelty. Cool, don't get me wrong, it's actually pretty sweet. But WhY?? =)
Yeah I have a "Nixon Penny and Getting Smaller" in my collection, which is a cheap novelty item. But this medal came in its own display case and I am sure cost a lot to make. Maybe these were handed out to people who donated or spent a lot of volunteer time for what ever group. I am at a end point with only assumptions. If you find out more then that, let me know..
Roller Jones Sure thing, it's the unusual stuff I am passionate about, but who isn't. I scored a mint uncirculated 1980 .50 cent piece last month. It's so clean, I have never seen a Kennedy 2 toned like that. The coin is shiny new, and the head is like a dull flat pewter color. It's extremely different, and I can't imagine they were all made that way. Most are usually dull and somewhat worn. It's not exceptionally old, but I HAD to save it.
Wow.. You got yourself a proof. Those are beautiful coins.. They might have made them in silver that year also that year. Not sure might have to look it up.
I have searched many places previously searched by clubs. 1 in 100 may know how to use a detector. The gentleman that told me I wouldn't find anything was surprised to see the quantity and value of the items I found where 50 had searched 2 days before.
I have been to an auction where a double standard coin exactly like that one sold for $250 dollars. The expert there only valued it at $150 but he wound of getting more for it. And it was in far worse condition to.
i'd love to get into metal detecting myself but sadly the laws in my country make it so that even if i find something on my own land it belongs to the state
They look like dimes or nickels (5c), but you call them 'murks' or 'mercs' - never heard that before. Not surprising as I'm in the UK. What does it refer to? .
Come across your videos by chance. Watched a few and I'm in love with what you find. 😃. Enjoy watching.

That Nixon medal was a cool find. They are on EBay for a few different prices
Keith68Camaro ...
The gear next to the wing nut is a minute wheel from an old clock. Most likely an old Westclox alarm clock.
This was interesting. Do you ever go to Florida, around St.Augustine?
wow! that's really cool find! congrats!
cool video. I really want to get into medal detection. what is a good metal detector to start out with that want break the bank?
A good starter machine would be a Garrett Ace 250 for about $200. And a Garrett pinpointer for $110 ISH. Thanks for watching.
Nice finds! Great vid bro. I subbed ya! I just started a channel myself. Not nearly the success out in my parts of the country, at least not on land. I am going to try some river and lake hunting at some point but still trying to find success on land. Happy Detectin' and Diggin'!
bro how can i start doing this. what kinda metal detector do i need? should i get a Wal-Mart or Home depot metal detector. please help.
I don't know anything about metal detecting as a matter of fact this is my first ever met dey vid but more impressive to me is that you would go out in the water just to pick up a beer can. What a fine young man! What a great job your parents did.
Nixon wasn't a very popular president. I'll bet anything someone chucked that Nixon medallion, LOL!
where about in Mars are y'all at if you don't mind me asking?
that was a presidential commemorative medal you might get a 100 bucks for it.
1977 Nixon "Double Standard" Media Medal, rare - only 1340 issued, 2 1/2", Liberal Press Protest Medal, Medalic Arts Issued.
Tom Stoughton worth around $25 to $ 50.

Thanks man.. Already got the next unbelievable find filmed today.. Still buzzing from it.
I need that wingnut.
hey I'm really fascinated by what you do and I always wanted to treasure hunt myself never had the opportunity and now I have saved up a small budget as a beginner can you recommend a metal detector for me I would like to start doing this as a hobby

I very like your vid
Thanks for watching.
Nice hunt
I would love to do this with a group. Do you have a web site?
I don't have a metal detecting website, but I may open up my coin collecting group on FB soon. Will let you know.
Okay, I don't have FB! I would love to get more into metal detecting. I have a basic detector and do it on occasion but want to do more. I am retired military and about sell my house and start traveling and this would be great to get into.
great video
Thank you.. That gives me motivation to do more for ya. Thanks for watching.
Congrats on the ring run, the medallion, the silver and your ton of clad. 👍
Thanks.. already working on next video :)
9 rings in a week! Crikey, I found two in a year.
Info about the medal new.liveauctioneers.com/item/3168711_rare-1977-nixon-double-standard-media-medal
4 1/2 ounces of bronze? LOL! Sweet find!
Tnx Jon... You are more knowledgeable then me in the collectors world.. Why were these medals handed out? And to who? Any clue?
I have never seen that specific one before. So couldn't tell you without researching. I've seen people find the 1 oz copper bullion rounds before. But that thing is a beast! Haha.
Here's a Nixon medallion that just sold at auction for $30.

Lake chatuge my dads side family from hayesville lol love the mountains
He's not a crook for finding that coin.
Being from Canada I don't know what the "Double standard" is, but love the Nixon medal.
Brian Quilty In a nut shell. Two face back stabber. Lol. Thanks for watching.
can anyone recommend a good quality metal detector??
Hey Roller, how do you get so many permissions ?
I peeped that silver GT back there 😏
hello sir,you know where a good place to go metal detecting? under bleachers at a football field
+Eric Kort I have seen good finds under bleachers before. I love detecting old yards. If you can get permission to do so.
I've been wondering if there is treasure right under my feet every day in alaska
The Nixon medal is pretty cool. Enjoy the vids...thanks.
Thanks for checking them out.
Wow I'm so in shock right now before he said how old the sliver was I thought in my mind and guest it correctly 😲
What do you give people to dig in there yard??
+Jade Hunter depends on the Home owner. Most just enjoy seeing what was under their feet. Some people have no interest in it.
Mars, PA?
I just looked at the coin that he found in like that big one it's worth about 30 bucks.
"selling of the pentagon"
In February 1971, CBS broadcast this documentary-an exposé of the use of public funds to promote the Vietnam War. The ensuing controversy became a landmark First Amendment case as it pertained to television news (60 minutes).
What are you spraying with*?
+Christopher Martinsen water
I have a medal like that with one of the popes on it.
Thats cool... If on the side of the medal has the company name (Medallic Art Co.) It would be made by the same company.
the Richard Nixon medal sold for 30 bucks in perfect shape on a auction site...clean it up it will look awesome...great find
+Matt Terk thanks Matt yeah, I saw that auction when I was looking up info on it. Thanks for watching.
DO NOT clean it too much. Bronze is valued most for the patina given to it by age. Use a metal cleaner on it and you'll ruin it.
.
ProfessorSakharov
O yeah I never clean my finds.. I run them in a sonic cleaner to knock off the dirt.. I love the environmental ageing on the relics.
That protest coin is perfect for today's two faced media .
Went to dig up a beer can and found Richard Nixon!
what does Merck and Rosalie mean
Great video pop over and see us

large bronze looks like a paper weight ?
Believe it is a medal used for a reward.
Looks like a medallion made for a political campaign. I saw 'Nixon' on it, but the initial wasn't right for tricky Dicky.
.
Ah. Later view shows 'Richard' on the other edge, so it was tricky Dicky.
.
looks like the Nobel pirce prize lol
I lost some gold coins at random spots right in the area you are searching , if you find them for me I'll give you a little reward and I'll be your friend.....
Yea right!! LOL. I also have some swamp land I can sell you.
I collect all my change and turn it in for cash after a few months. but before I do I sort through it all and every time I pull out a handful of dimes, quarters, Nickels below 1965. are they that valuable of a find? Roller Jones I do have few 1943 nickles and dimes. 2 1936 buffalo nickles and 2 1945 quarters. I love the hunt!
Roller Jones I got a steel signal that I figured was a bottle cap but I dug anyway. it ended up being a 1943 steel penny. are these rare?
So what is the story on that medal? Obviously, it's not currency, so I would lean towards novelty, but why?
This is the most information I have found on it.

Silver rings probably belongs to a kid, most of them don’t have $$ for gold ( and most likely to loose).
And I put up my first Detecting video!! No gold or silver, but great to have my first!! And I found a GUNNNNNN!!!
But it was just an old kids gun!
Found the Double Standard coin on Ebay for $30. Not a bad find, just not as valuable as one might think.
That is the roman two headed coin
I have searched many places previously searched by clubs. 1 in 100 may know how to use a detector. The gentleman that told me I wouldn't find anything was surprised to see the quantity and value of the items I found where 50 had searched 2 days before.

Hang onto that Medallion it may bring you vast riches in the future, or your Sons future.
O yeah! I love displaying all my finds.. They add up quickly. Thanks for watching.
Roger that..
had one of those. It's a paperweight

RARE 1977 NIXON DOUBLE STANDARD MEDIA MEDAL worth 150 too 250 dollars
Gainesville Ga
Keep all of it
There's white gold to sir it's not junk check that ring again . 😃 🤑🤑
An election coin for Pres. R. Nixon. I would keep it.
having fun gaining off of people's worst losses.hmm unselfish.
It's a merc, and you're a derc
18k is not 'gold plated'. 18k gold is 75% gold mixed with other metals. "Gold plated" is junk.
It says 18k H.G.E. heavy gold electroplate.
Thanks, Roller. You hadn't mentioned 'electroplate'. Clarifies things.
I probably have the dumbest auestion of any what do ou do with your finds
