You are very knowledgeable on your relics, even all covered in dirt and rust and you call them out. Impressive! Your English is very well spoken, thank you for sharing your relic hunts!
The Coughing Captain Well I'm sure your videos are spot on then, and not the work of some hack hack. He gets an A+ for the effort in my book. Perhaps you should try and outdo him with your own channel, but try not to choke up. However I'll stick to watching this one, since the "huge difference" is he's more entertaining to watch. Good luck
It’s remarkable as to how many items are still being found from WW2. That field kitchen was a great find. The leather piece you found, were there some metal pieces in the holes were you found them? Very nice find. You can use the field kitchen for your lunch when you go out exploring lol.
What a relief that you listened to the trusty shovel and took it along as it proved to be useful. The K98 Bayonet Scabbard and massive field kitchen food container were quite the finds. The food container cleaned up nicely. I bet they looked impressive situated side by side in your display cabinet. Thanks for taking us there HH. Yet another successful expedition.
That buckle is from a Y-strap. It was used to attach the combat A frame. The Essentrager (Food carrier) were sometimes called a Thermokubal. Also the leather piece you called a scabbard is a bayonet frog. The scabbard was made of metal and attached thru the hole on that rounded piece.
I love when you find the personal items from the soldiers like the domino. I can imagine the soldiers sitting around playing different games to escape the war for a little while. Am still impressed with the field kitchen. It looked like it was insulated. You had a good a of searching.
This is such an amazing channel. I have been looking for a channel like this for ages. You made my day man thankyou so much. Some amazing finds by the way. You have inspired me to start metal detecting for WWII relics
Thats awesome, where I live in Texas, outside of town is an old abandoned military base from the ww2 era, the name of the town is Gainesville, I am a ww1 and ww2 history buff as well as a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom on the War on Terror. You have some very interesting finds, I wish you happy hunting in all your Ventures. Mabey one day you could check out this old base here in Texas, from what I have seen there are many, many bunkers, silos, and foundations that sit on basically what is now cow grazing land. Good Luck and Hapoy Hunting!
just found your channel and this video... great video, I'm very impressed with your level of expertise knowledge, not many people could identify a shell casing before cleaning it. And what an amazing find with that canister. I'll definitely have to keep an eye on your channel and see what else you uncover.
Cool, just though I'd make a reference to an old Reddit post. Story goes a redditor named KnightOfSunlight posted a pic to r/whatisthisthing of a piece of metal he found metal detecting, unknowing to the fact that it was an italian landmine. It is believed that he accidentally set it off and died, evident from his lack of updates and sudden abandonment of his Reddit account. Call my joke fucked up but I couldn't help but see the connection between the two
That thing you found that you thought was a scabbard is actually a frog. The stud on the metal K98 bayonet scabbard went in through that hole, and then the leather frog attached it to the belt.
I always enjoy your videos, Your english is very good , I grew up in Germany,As I have told you before back in the mid 1950,s Many bunkers and gun emplacements were still in plain sight . Keep up the great work as it is much appreciated and brings back some fond memories.
I typically only equate history with war/violence/death. So, getting this kind of look at it is always pleasant. Especially because relic hunting/discovering is always super fun. Thanks for the videos. :)
Sweet finds bud!!... I'm from New Zealand & I dig up the old Chinese gold mining relics from the 1860s to 1900, so I know the feeling of excitement when finding some thing cool!... Keep it up bro!.. 👍
Actually it's not a scabbard. It is called a bayonet frog. The scabbard has a metal hook that is attached to the scabbard. The metal hook corresponds to the hole in that piece of leather. If you look at a complete K98 bayonet and frog you will see what I mean. Great video once again! ;)
the scabbard you reference is known as a bayonet frog. The sheath/scabbard is made of metal and serialized to match the bayonet while the frog is simply a leather holster meant to connect the sheath/bayonet to the belt of the wearer.
Sir , finding leather , bakkelite etc is just a bi-Product of finding metal Objects. They are just Down there between all the other stuff. Thanks for watching.
Thanks again for an informative video! So many would look at the small, nondescript pieces you find and conclude it as "so much junk". Thank you for researching and knowing what many of these pieces are.

I love the field kitchen find thankyou ! I really like the older videos! I wish I knew how to find more of them ! 👍🏻👍🏻but nothing is as great as seeing you and EE together on great adventures!
All you have to do to find more of them is to go to the WW2HistoryHunter page , look up uploaded videos and you can scroll down and find hundreds. Thanks Mark
Well done again, i recognised the food container, as soon as you lifted it up, and i felt so pleased for you, `i`m curious to know if you have detected there before, and if so, then have your previous finds given you any clues to what happened there. I do know that the field kitchens were usually situated far away from the action, and then the full containers would be driven from them to somewhere close by where they would be carried to the troops by runners. great video, thanks for posting.
