My two kids and I watched this while eating breakfast. 3 yr old boy and 5 yr old girl. They get a kick out of the gold shots and the music. Some dancing happened while the cereal was being eaten.
    It was a bit messy.
    Thanks for the content.

Dan, the secret to moving heavy objects as you get older is to find and harness some 20 year old body builders. Convince them that moving rocks for you is a better work out than the gym and they will PAY you to come do it for you. That way you get the gold and the "gym membership fees" added on top!!! It is called working smarter not harder!

    • @dougbinder2019
      @dougbinder2019 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I got the joke. I would like to pass along that moving big rocks can present issues and dangers. You dont have to spend a ton of money for it, but a better choice of gear is what the 4x4 guys used. Factor 55 makes the best off road recovery gear, but if you are just using it for moving a few boulders, that are plenty of brands that will get the job done. Soft Shackles were invented to eliminate metal parts hitting you in the head. Their are a variety of straps designed to go around boulders and trees which are the ANCHORS to pull a 4x4 out of the mud/ ditch / etc. There is a blanket style anchor that is used for the same application as well as digging a hole, laying the blanket in the hole and filling it with sand. In every situation, the pulley that is attached using a soft shackle, will cut the force required to move a 4x4 or a Boulder BY HALF. You could be next to the boulder you move while pulling the boulder towards the Shackle and pulley. One hack you may need, is using a mountain climbing rope because you can buy those small enough to fit on a come a-long. Everything I mentioned is fairly inexpensive and light to carry. The off road trade shows sell all kinds of this gear.

Use leverage! As a 5’2” female, I figured out how to move a 425 lb boulder from my car down onto the roadway; then up a curb and slope to be positioned exactly where I wanted for installing a mailbox garden, at a church where I was singing. Landscape gardening is sort of a hobby. Just put one shovel under the rock, then shove ANOTHER shovel UNDERNEATH the first. Suddenly you can roll and maneuver the rock. I actually used two boulders in this garden; the other one was only about 325 lb.
If you backpacked in, this won’t work for you; if you packed in with a donkey, however, it would be feasible, or if you drove in and the road was really near the river’s edge.
    Hope this helps!

Dan, I have no idea how you ended up in my list but you did and I watched. What I'm really curious about is are you relying strictly on the density/weight of gold to sink to the bottom of the pan (even the tiny bits) so that you don't wash any of the gold out as you gradually reduce the volume of the gravel?

Scary to think the current state of the Fraser. as of aug 1st there was a landslide that will send a major flood his way. Be interesting to see how much it changes his claim after it settles. Stay Safe Dan.

I’ve often wondered how deep that river is. It’s just amazing how much water you get flowing in that area.

Have you considered leaving a metal pan tub securely fastened somewhere on your claim at a midway point? Probably fill with rain after a while and might save time or your back.

All I heard was the sound of that beautiful river and the sound of you finding gold. Would love to find a little of that here in Georgia USA

    Hi Dan.
    I enjoyed this one.
I have a vial of mercury that was extracted from the Fraser River by an old timer who would save all the mercury he found in a separate container until there was enough worth paying for the gold and mercury to be separated. He said if there's any gold left I can have it. I just want the element specimen.

Dan, you're cool! Stop putting yourself down, please. Your personality is pure fun. I really don't care about gold panning; I love watching you.
Depending on when you filmed this; an inversion machine might help your back. I'm a beekeeper, always lifting heavy beehives, and whenever I stress my back, some working out upside down relieves the pressure.

Exciting !!! Love the way you tackled the boulder moving though it looks dangerous. Go Dan, Go !!! The low back is way too easy to strain , take care. You should have a buddy-system and the pulley system if you want to move boulders like a super-human. Beautiful gold that you worked hard for.

Nice gold Dan! Even my guess was lower than its weigh in! 🧐😳 I also thought that there would be larger flakes since this area had no human touch it. It leads me to a food for thought question: why does gold always show up in the most unbelievable spots and vice versa? 🤔🙄 I applaud you for putting on your gloves to handle the sharp shale, by the way.
Since the Fraser carries flakes and pickers, how close are old mines to Pickerton? That would be an awesome 'tour' around some of them.
I pray that everyone is doing well and I'll see you on your next adventure! Blessings from Alabama ❤️
