    Got myself a a Mayflash F500 and my brother a F300 since they where a good price. Swapped out the buttons and and Sticks with Sanwa parts. Both are sturdy, and still work after 2 or 3 years of use. Nice that it works with everything even if you feel a bit silly plugging another controller into the stick.

    I’m using the Mayflash f500 and I love it personally. Now that the new age of fighting games are coming out I am looking to get a new stick. I’ve had this one for about 5-6 years and it’s done me so much justice as my first stick. From the price to the customizable options I had a lot of fun with this stick and definitely recommend to first time buyers.

    I bought the Mayflash f300 on Amazon last year, my first arcade stick. The stock parts lasted me until a month ago (I was abusing that mf lol) and I swapped everything out for Sanwa parts last week. I don't really have a great frame of reference because this is really the only stick I played on but I think it is great for the price, it works on pretty much anything and its a good place to start getting into doing your own customization/modding. My only complaints are that it is kinda small for my hands, there is no mic plug in (I should have went for the f500 in hindsight) and you have to plug your ps4, ps5 or xbox controller into it to use it on those consoles. A shame that Jwong got burned by a secondhand stick but I think it's unfair to call it a trash stick as a whole because of that.

    Got myself a Snackbox Micro with the heavy metal plate and it's my very first fight "stick". I try not to look into the tech that you can do on a Hitbox, because that's not the reason why I got this thing. The thing I love about it is that it feels comfortable and brings me back to the days when I played Mugen on keyboard. The other extra cool thing about it is that I also play Tetris, so it makes me so much faster. The problem I have with it at the moment is that one of my buttons flies off if I go too ham with it. Strangely enough, it only happens when I play Tetris. Ha ha!
    Main fighting games I play on it are: Melty Blood: Type Lumina, Street Fighter 6, and Killer Instinct.

    • @MrTurtlebird
      @MrTurtlebird ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Had the opposite experience unfortunately. The unit I had was an absolute nightmare to mod and the screws were basically fused to the board so I couldn't change the stick. Insides also felt a bit cramped, but probably not an issue if you're using snap in buttons instead of the screwins that I was trying to install.
      Those issues aside though (and in fairness some were likely just me getting a bad unit, it happens) I do genuinely really like the stick. Out of all the budget arcade sticks I think it's the best out of the box experience by far, and it offers features you don't even see on high end sticks like bluetooth and the included 2.4ghz wireless adapter.

It has metal top and bottom plates for added weight and sturdiness, an acrylic top panel for custom artwork, fully customizable buttons and joystick, and it works across all consoles as long as you have a controller for the console you're trying to play. To take customization a step further, you can always remove the stock pcb and add in a Brooks Universal fighting board to make it work on all consoles without the need for a controller or adapter.

    Justin Wong - Gaming Legend: "Mayflash f300 and f500 are TRASH. I bought a broken one cheap at a garage sale. STRAIGHT TRASH. Buy a good stick, losers."
    that's not what he said, but that's how it feels right now. I've never in my life been more baffled by a TH-cam Personality's take on a product. a product that THEY bought from a cheap garage sale that happened to not work. so for that TRASH CONTROLLER. LOL.
    what is that? I've never seen anything like it, man. I know he's a funny guy and he's a legend (I'm learning about it now - I'm new to fighting games with SF6). but putting the stick most people can afford and have purchased into "TRASH" because his personal choice to get a broken one left him unsatisfied with its quality ...
    does someone like Justin Wong know what their opinions can mean to people for stuff like this? for real - do they realize how much value his opinion carries about a purchase like that?
    I ask because someone who understood that value wouldn't toss their opinions around so flippantly over a whole swathe of their audience's afforded gear.
    based on their own mistake of buying a broken one. that shit is pretty offensive, man, I can't lie. I'm pissed. (obviously, laff.) I don't own a Mayflash, and if I'm being honest now I probably WON'T. the brand's now tarnished, and I was really thinking about the F500 Elite.
    sure I know it's jokes, but not to me. we can't afford the 500 dollar sticks that Justin Wong can. or is sponsored by.

    I have 2 custom f300s and an old 8bitdo that is built from an f300 chassis. They're great universal, small size sticks. The stock parts are fine for the price but I always swap to Sanwa right out the box. I also have a MadCatz TE1 and TE2. The TE has thousands of hours of use, 2 stick and multiple button swaps. Both of the TEs blister my right wrist pretty bad but other than that they are big sturdy reliable sticks. Honestly I'd take any one of these into battle with confidence. Mayflash f300 is a perfect starting point, by the time you get to your second stick it's a full-on lifestyle, so make your first one something relatively inexpensive and versitile. I also highly suggest putting some custom art or button/stick colors to really make it yours.

    I own 14 sticks, including the Victrix Pro and Qanba Dragon. My two favorite sticks are still, 'til this day, my Hori RAP Premium VLXs. Yes, they're big. Yes, they're expensive. And yes, they're hard to find. That stated, nothing else compares to how they feel/perform.

    • @inFamous-VIC
      @inFamous-VIC ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Between the Dragon and the Victrix, which would you keep? I’m wondering which one to get atm, and the weight/travel size/pcb is not an issue for me. I’m leaning on the dragon due to customizations sake and aesthetics

    • @ciscorey6520
      @ciscorey6520 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@inFamous-VIC The Dragon is definitely more customizable and considerably heavier, if you appreciate that aspect. That said, for me at least, the Victrix feels like it performs better. It's a little hard to describe what I mean by this but inputs just feel easier/more accurate. Also, the Victrix top has an angled area at the palms-the flat panel of the Dragon is probably my biggest complaint for it because after hours of play, its edge will feel like it's digging at your palms. So if forced to choose, I'd take the Victrix just for performance and comfort. Honestly, the only gripe I have with the Victrix is where the USB cable plugs into the top. It's not quite as snug as I would expect it to be for a $400 stick.
      Honestly, you really can't lose with either stick though; they're both built like tanks. Good luck!

    • @inFamous-VIC
      @inFamous-VIC ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ciscorey6520 damn. I wish I could know more about that performance aspect aside from the PCB. The palm deal I did see and I’m glad for that ease of use for people.

    • @ciscorey6520
      @ciscorey6520 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@inFamous-VIC Yeah, it's hard to describe. Even if you're using the same JLF levers on all your sticks (I try to fit all my sticks with Sanwa), it's like the hole in the body that's cut out for the lever affects the way it feels. I noticed this right away with my friend's Mayflash F500 Elite. The throw of the stick felt very very different and I suspect it has something to do with the height (and possible width of the hole) of where the plexiglass sits.
      To be perfectly honest, if I'm choosing in order based off of performance, I'm going RAP Premium VLX > RAP Pro Kai (with Sanwa parts) > Victrix > Dragon. Yes, it's crazy to know that I'd rather play with a $150 Kai over a Victrix.

    I have a Mayflash F300, it's really good so far no problems and I've had it for a year. If something happen I plan to change the buttons for sanwas. I definitely recommend it! . Maybe if I changed, I would buy a victrix and that's only because I want it to be fully compatible with PS5.

    The Mayflash F300 is what I currently use and it works really well. It obviously isn’t the best option but it’s affordable and plays just fine. 8/10 in my opinion and I would recommend it to someone with a budget.

    The Mayflash was my first arcade controller! While I would not say it was great by any means it was cheap and got the job done. I now have the Qanba Obsidian so you could say the Mayflash is the gateway stick.

    I have to say while the Snackbox Micro is nice, I have some regrets about buying it as my only stick, since I'm new to the scene. The miniscule buttons at the top floor things like stick press, select and start are super uncomfortable when labbing, where you are going into menus often, hitting select to reset, amd using the R3 and L3 for practice mode shortcuts. The stick is great for normal play and I love every other aspect, but I think it's a drawback worth considering if you're getting a SBM as your only stick.

    Mayflash F300 was my first stick and it served me well. I have transitioned to using a leverless (flatbox) controller, but that's because my wrist would start hurting a bit from rocking the stick all the time. But as said, it served me well for the four years I've had it for. Definitely recommend upgrading the stock parts to Sanwas for longevity and better feel though.

    My next and still current stick was the Hori RAP4 v1. Aside from the lack of touchpad, it still works like a dream.

It's medium sized & gots a good weight to it. I replaced the stock parts with sanwa & bought a mayflash magicboot so I can use it on my ps5 (also makes it function on a ps4/xbox1 without connecting a pad to it). A good budget stick for newcomers. Imo

      well from what i have seen these brands are the most used :
      Qanba
      Mayflash
      Hori
      Madcatz
      And the only ones which are cheap are :
      Qanba Crystal or Qanba Drone (drone costs a little bit less than qanba crystal)
      Hori Fighting Stick Mini (it's very small )
      Mayflash F300 / Mayflash F300 Elite (hearing good reviews from this one)
      of course if you want something better (from the same brands) it will cost you a lot more .

    my first proper fighting game controller was an arcade stick, but that started hurting my hand if i played for prolonged periods of time. i looked into getting a different controller back in 2021, and Got my Self a Snackbox before then in 2023 upgrading to a Hitbox. while the system at first for them can be unintuitive, i cannot recommend lever-less controllers enough. i can play for 4-5 hours at a time without any pain in my hands, when before i would start to feel pain 2.5 hours in with my Arcade stick.

      Sanwa is a different brand of buttons and levers you can buy to replace the default lever and buttons. In my experience, the sanwa parts are worth getting because the lever is tighter and the buttons actuate the input with very little travel. I can't rest my fingers on the buttons without accidentally pressing them, but that's an advantage having that.
      I got the Hori Alpha and replaced the lever and buttons. It cost me around $250 total and a little bit of time to change them out.

    B- Mayflash any, Hitbox, Mixbox, Razer any,

    Honestly any stick can be made better with the right parts.
