Justin has a video on his YT channel where his daughter climbs on his back & grabs his neck as he's trying to play SF against a decent opponent, he starts laughing while telling the little girl to stop "choking" him & that's my personal favorite moment of his!❤
Hes definitely good in front of the camera, though I don't think the GOAT - he's a good commenter unless he talks about himself - he did that a few times during tournies and the players even joked about it - obbviously knows his stuff and is very good, but can be a little too self involved
Shoutouts to Floe (RIP) for possibly being the only western player in that building during Evo 2004 who knew what was about to happen and desperately tried to stop it.
Justin Wongs MVC3 and UMVC3 run is what introduced me to EVO and the FGC. Plus now him explaining whats going on makes those moments even more amazing. Amazing video.
I’m enjoying these types of videos more and more….overtime I’ve became a big justin Wong fan…but I’ve never did the proper research on his history…I took the moment I found out about him and followed him forward…so hearing these stories are always interesting and just makes me more of a fan of justin….the amount of detail he remembers and gives in each match and the mentality or thought process during those moments are incredible
It just goes to show how much top players like Justin and Yipes really care for their craft It isn't just *this made me because I never beat that guy" it's always for the crowd, for the community, for the history That one clip of Yipes crying says it best, "Not gonna front, I really care about y'all"
@@JustJustKen Yes I get it, and it's one of the few FGC terms that I won't agree with since I was in the military. in the Navy Salt means experience in the Sea having tasted so much salt water.
Man, you can see from this video that it is hard to make a living in fighting games, before the socials media era. Shoutouts to Justin Wong. One of the Gods of fighting games for the ages!
the ability to just create new strategies in high pressure situations is insane - its like a whole new level where its not just about perfect play even though you are under pressure its more like high pressure elevates his play even more. Its the same concept of daigos random shoriyuken that gets stronger because its like a final or something and noone expects it. Insane legend this man!
Wow... this guy is so smart during games. No wonder he's so successful. He's incredibly good at adapting to the situations he's presented and throwing the opponent off balance at key moments. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for his opponents, dominating the whole match, only to be surprised at some point and not knowing what the hell happened in the end.
Being from NYC, i was a Chris G fan back then (i know Justin is from NYC, but he lived in LA by then). Man he just choked that match. But it was another legendary comeback from Justin
Woooooo let's see the year is 2005 and this shook the FIGHTING GAME CIRCUIT WORLD!!!! I will never forget watching this on a psp in a movie theater parking lot. The games that were being played at that time was Guilty Gear X2 and Accent Core. Viruta Fighter 3 had a niche following, Capcom vs SNK 2 and Tekken 4 might've been the "last big thing". For the guys around me Justin was "THE BAD GUY" with his TURTLE playstyle in 3rd Strike but he was a MVC2 GOD along with Y!pes and SMOOVE VIPER who were the guys i looked up to. Those were the days. There were many names then and many more now!
"it was something I never practiced , but in my mind I just felt it would work." This my friends is what puts Justin above the rest. To think about that in the moment and lil time to even execute it is truly what makes Justin (Wazzler) God tier
Evo moment 37 wasn't why I started playing street fighter, but it definitely made me lock in and focus on 3s/ sf4 when it came out. Thanks! Using the crappy sticky in store GameStop pads in round 3 of the GameStop tournament was ridiculous, drove through 2 states with 3 fresh controllers just incase, to play on the worst pads GameStop could offer 😂
Justin Wong I feel decades later won that match vs Daigo in evo 2004. You look at my Boy and he just looks so joyous while Daigo looks like he hasn’t aged as gracefully!! Damn life is a long journey
37:20 He definitely not lying bout this statement go back to evo moment #37 when he got parried he was button mashing the whole time during chun li super lol
Don't ever be embarassed about waving the American flag. You made your country proud with that victory and representing your home turf is never cringe.
12:42 - id like to think that jwong just started playing on pad and his friends were like "wtf are you doing?" and he just didnt tell them anything for that whole month 😂
Get a alex valley interview. Hes the reason i can play fighting games. I was like 11 or 12 when cbox live just came out. I bought cvs2 and when i got online i was about to give up, the only reason i remember this story is because my name had power in it and people made fun of my name because it sounded nerdy and auyo generated..and it was. But i was about yo quit and a guy named calipower said "kid dont quit let me show you how to read the move list, how to charge ect..he also told me those guys doing the crazy combos i saw and wanted to do so bad wasnt reall realistic he said those guy where just different lol. Found out 20 urs later who calipower was..i remember him saying he flew to japan to play fighting games and i thought it was a lie because i never heard of a big tournament..turns out he had a manga of him and diago in japan lol. Thanks alex it was nice what did for me.
I’m a fan of Justin Wong especially him playing MVC3. He referenced Jason Wilson and game galaxy where George X and Joshua P that currently works there. They are kids of my wife
4:35 Justin is the GOAT but I want to say for players getting into 3s ken -- raw reaction hitconfirming Ken's 2mk -> shippu is 100% a thing. I didn't believe it for YEARS but it can absolutely be done looking at the health bar or points to confirm. Problem is that it takes a ton of focus and doesn't work well online due to rollbacks causing mis-confirms. I would say personally I can get it 60-70% of the time while never getting it on block. I usually just go for the "situation confirms" as Justin says though since it takes so much effort, lol
Justin not caring bout GameStop tournament vs me it being an obtainable goal to win the whole thing because I didn’t know pro fighting game players existed /😂
Idk if Justin is telling the truth about these miracle comebacks of secret tech that he just did and never practiced or is he saying to build the legacy of wongfactor more or to throw salt on the wounds of his victims😂
He's telling the truth. A lot of people went to the lab after that cr.m vs helmbreaker just to see how consistent it was and i think the overall success rate between everyone was super low
What are your favorite Justin Wong matches and moments?
Evo moment 37, Justin is the ken
Justin has a video on his YT channel where his daughter climbs on his back & grabs his neck as he's trying to play SF against a decent opponent, he starts laughing while telling the little girl to stop "choking" him & that's my personal favorite moment of his!❤
I think FChamp vs Justin was EVO 2014 and not 2015. EVO 2015 was KBR's run on MVC3 I believe. 😀
Justin Wong vs your mom
Texas Showdown 3 J-Wo vs Xecutioner. most ridiculous comeback ever.
Justin is one of the most comfortable in front of a camera of all the gaming GOAT contenders. Makes him a good commentator too.
Hes definitely good in front of the camera, though I don't think the GOAT - he's a good commenter unless he talks about himself - he did that a few times during tournies and the players even joked about it - obbviously knows his stuff and is very good, but can be a little too self involved

Wait actually?! What a goat if that's the case!
@@Dudesickle06 People said Daigo had done the parry in pools. Justin just didn't see it and therefore, going into the match, he thought it impossible.

The looks on ChrisG and Filipino Champ's faces. You can taste the salt through the screen.
I don't know how FGC players made salt a bad thing, Salty means experience in military terms.
@@DDXNinja It's from the bad taste you get in your mouth when you lose.
@@DDXNinja
Angry players are called "salty" because of their 'tears' from losing. It implies that they cried over their loss that they became salty.

SBO really deserved a full docummentary. It's probably one ot the most iconic and unique fighting game tournaments ever
It was essentially what birthed alot of stuff in American fgc including helped birth srk which was the biggest fgc forum worldwide for 2 decades
It really sucks that it's just....gone. It seemed like it was so cool
For us, his comeback against Yipes at EVO 2007 was one of the most important moments in FGC history. For him, it was Sunday.
I don't even play fighting games and I watch the whole video. Good job, and what an interesting person Justin is

Amazing that he’s the MVC2 god but non of those matches he mentions here. But includes 2 humbling losing experience on this list.
Seriously. I was expecting mvc2 Cyclops comeback.
He is the op
Og fucking auto correct lol
This was so entertaining, enlightening and informative, learning about the thought process of a pro like Justice. Keep them coming. Subscribed.
Can’t wait to see the matches that made him right
It's ok buddy someone got it ^_^
“JUSTIN WONGGGGGG” could easily be on this list. #MAHVEL
I can hear it in my head
"OH MY GAWD!"
Umvc3 was the best days for the fgc. I miss seeing these guys fight
Raoh was so salty losing to Justin in the mirror match. He was over doing the celebration for Daigo. I will not forget
Jwong is such a cool dude. I watch his channel all the time
I like Justin, not just bec of what he can do, or what he did, but he seems to be nice and chill

Love that he talks about the epic parry moment even though he didn't come out on top. Respect.
im happy to say i was at one of Justin's matches that made him
I remember that Daigo parry. I didn’t realized that it was against Justin!
Also forgot about Chris G lol…. Does he still play?
I’m surprised the mvc2 match with him and yipes never made it on here , that match was another legendary match
