Have you filed a claim in your backyard yet, Jeff? My compliments to your fantastic nurse, Lila, for your excellent recovery rate! I smashed the big like button, your videos, knock it out of the park every time.
I built something similar years ago using a piece of plastic from a cutting board with circular grooves machined in it, using a lathe, at the bottom of the bucket to catch the heavies. It's great for producing concentrate quickly. An important addition to these type of bucket concentrators to really speed up the process is to make a classifier using a mesh waste paper basket that fits inside the bucket, I cut the solid bottom out of the basket and braze in a piece of perforated steel, this makes a portable concentrator that you can shovel dirt directly into it. One other thing is to bring a water bucket to nestle inside the classifier.
Hey Jeff, I went to HomeDepot to get the parts minus the magnet. I am confused and so was the employee on the 4" coupler flanged on the inside, I believe I found the right 4" to 2" reducer. Could you possibly make a parts list with links to make this complete setup. You have a link to a magnet site, but not pointed to the exact magnet to use. Thanks for your time and keep up the good work.
Gotta include Chest Waders in the cost 😂 My cheapest gold grabber was a triple stack High banker paint roller pan wash box. Used pvc for the frame and small chains for hanging the pans at angles with a 6” River Sluice for the final grab. 😂 Your cheapo wash plant is crazy cool idea! Funny stuff! Nice work Jeff Peace Prospector Tripp
I had this idea just before you made this video and what I found was that it's an extremely effective tool for bulk sampling. I would bring a 12 volt lithium iron phosphate battery and a 2000 gallon per hour pump and then a classifier and a drill and a paint stir. Classify the dirt into the bucket. Get rid of the big rocks and then remove the classifier and use the paint. Stirrer to do the poor mans sluice. It works really well. I'm going to have to go to magnet and build this thing. It's a very handy tool to take into the field.
That is a great idea, brother. What would it take to replace the magnet you have with a plunger magnet. That way instead of having to remove the bolt to extract your magnet, you just pull the plunger magnet out and pull the handle/lever. It's just a thought.
a sandwich baggie around the magnet(in the pvc) just before you put it in tge bottom of the bucket. When you pull out the magnet assembly, it is in the baggie and you can turn it inside out and pull it away from the magnet and you have a baggie of black sands 👍.
Thats awesome Jeff, The who real trick is im getting that much gold in every pan if not more... about a half gram every 2 to 4 buckets, all Im using is a $7.00 pan
Thanks for sharing your build and the advice! While watching your video, I had an idea. I noticed when at Home Depot recently that there is a coupler to attach a hose to PVC etc, maybe attaching the hose to the outside of the bucket via the coupler would help by keeping the sprayer out of the way. I'll build one and see if I can make it work, then share it.
The only thing I can think of to make it better would be a piece of hard plastic on top of the magnet with washer on top to keep the magnetics off the magnet and easier to clean. Great job Jeff and all involved making this happen thanks for sharing see you on the next one 👍🏼👊🏼
@@danbosch- I thought the threads might tear the bag and fall off when you unscrew the magnet loosing the minus 100’s but I agree something would work that would be fast and efficient just not sure what it is
Nice job! Thank You for the video's, knowledge, positive vibe, good energy, not wasting time, and having a great attitude. I have learned a lot from you through your videos. Worth while solid info.
The two-bucket method has been around for a while, while-and-a-half. What I like are your 21st century improvements. Ya sure can do a lot more volume per load with a drill & paint stirrer than ya can stirring with a fat stick. And since the batches were so much less no one considered making a magnet part of the catch. Kewl stuff, youse two!😁
I had a thought of stringing a bunch of those right under a little waterfall and just shoveling all the deep spots in the river into them and let them filter all the goldies for me! What do you think? Would it work? Maybe add an attachment that would cause the water to swirl down and around the sides?
Love this contraption, Brother ! I think you really have something here. Easy prospecting sluice that can go anywhere, including Nome. 👍Better get a patent on it. I'm sure you're gonna start prospecting the entire backyard. Who knows what else you'll find ?
@Jeff cool idea now add a bulge pump with a 90 elbow in the top bucket for use either at a stream or with a containment tub to reuse the water as your mixing and dumping the water. 🤔
With that gold in the ground, It will give you a excellent transfer voltage rate if you do a free energy setup, No need to stay on the grid nowadays. Nice property Jeff.
This was one of the best videos about gold recovery I have seen yet. With a bit of ingenuity this could be made into a system that could be taken to any stream and get rid of panning in the field. I imagine a system of cogs that turn the the energy of the water in the stream into a rotating propellor in the bucket thus getting rid of the drill.
I’m not a prospector but I gave it a thumbs up for watching your excitement while making the video. On a serious note though it sure looks like it’s a lot easier to carry than the alternative.
Just one bucket. Continuously add, twist/shake,remove. At end of day pan out just bottom layer of sand. Could use magnets during process. But the idea is to be able to walk up and down creek with just a few tools collecting as opposed to hauling heavy bucket loads back to sleuce.
Great video Jeff interesting process I'm going to have to watch this one again and again and then proceed to make this contraption thanks for the video Jeff

We can only use hand tools to collect the material in Australia, but once collected we can process it however we like. There are bans on highbankers in some states and dredges in all states, but they are to do with water use or environmental protection laws and nothing to do with the actual fossicking laws. This system should be completely legal in Australia.

Funny your not on the mountain it's your very rich backyard. Assay your back yard lol it's as rich as the drift mine. Good job. Put a plastic cup over the magnet easier cleanup. I'm done. Home depot buckets are 12.5" in diameter. So try a wire pasta colander strainer to fit towards the top for large rocks. The strainers come in many sizes. Remove it after your pour all your dirt in. You could insert it into a cut tapered section from another bucket. Try putting some handles on it like synthetic rope to pull it out. Peace
Mines got a giant ball valve on the bottom. I classify with one of those ones that fits deep in the bucket with the valve closed then hit it with the stirrer. Then i open the valve and hit it again into the catch bucket. I do a 4 to one reduction into a second bucket then a 4 to 1 on that one. Wastes a lot of water but i can really run some dirt.
What if you changed the system a bit and find something like a concrete mixer that feeds as it spins, plum in the water, and angle the bucket at a 45, or whatever angle you find works best, so that you didn’t have to babysit and run a drill? I actually believe the rounded bottom of the concrete mixer might work out better in this scenario. I realize that just seems like too much work when this system works as well as it does but if you figure in the possibility of how much more material it’s likely to run through with much less work then it might be worth the effort depending on how much of this material you have to run. If you ever need any help in about two months, I’ve gotta have knee surgery, I’d be willing to help for free just to gain some knowledge. Love the channel Be Safe out there GOD BLESS YOU ALL
Similar to how I use a concrete mixer clean up the gravel in my yard. Set up a hose pointing into the mixer and just shovel in the gravel, all the mud, weeds and muck just overflows out as a slurry.
Jeff, what you have done is basically build a small scale trommel. I wonder the following. 1. How much more recovery can be had with Jet dry on a large trommel by partially recycling the wash plant water so that the organics are sent to a settling pond. 2. your buddies doing hard rock and a vibrating bed separator with jet dry, how much more effective for the missed fine mesh. 3. add this process to the "tailings" off a larger process to capture the fines. 4. leave the bucket mounted at a 45° angle and let the drill flip out the debris as you add material and water ( or recycle water ). put the capture screen at the bottom edge of the 45 degree bucket. I once saw a large scale Alaska operation ( Cambior ) at Valdez creek AK, wash plant have 1/4 inch classifier bounce all the bigger nuggets into the tailings, and the only reason they had bigger nuggets, is because they were long and tapered and stuck in the screen. Lots of mining in Alaska is stuck in limbo, because the federal government haven't given title to Alaska to vast tracks of land. So if you loose your federal claim, you can't mine under state rules till the federals transfer title. Plus Fish and Game are jerks
I think if you would put a piece of plastic like a sandwich baggy over the magnet you could just pull the magnet out of the bag and all the magnetic stuff would drop out , its a pain to try to get it off the agnet sometimes, great idea though ill be trying that
This was a great vid . I was thinking would one of those sink drain catcher screens work ?? Also could you please tell what the jet dry does ? Thanks and again great vid .
would recommend you put a sandwich baggy around the magnet before inserting it into the bucket bottom. It keeps the magnetite and hematite from getting on it for a bit cleaner magnet. Just a suggestion!😊
IDEA I finally got around to watching this and I loved it BUT here is something you might try. Find a strong ring/toroid type magnet or even stack of ring magnets magnets with any luck you create a strong whirl pool action and just maybe you could have the gold drop right through the middle of the magnetic toroid rings into a catch while the stronger irons stick to the inside of the ring(s). If that works I would use a small glass or plastic pipe with the magnetic fields on the out side so that when you finish you could merely remove the magnetism and let the junk iron fall out to ease with clean up. I would imagine you could do something like that as well with low voltage and make it an electromagnet so you can just switch it off and let the junk fall out.
U and wifey must get a patent on that right away! More money, more gold!! I love watching your videos! I'm disabled so not so much in the business and all the hard work. Its a blast watching you do what you were born to do. I'm the type of person who would love to invest in the things you do. I was a patreon at the very beginning but my wifey said no more, sorry!!! Gosh, all the great gold you are finding now in your mine is awesome!! Through, I do buy numestic gold and silver. I'm hoping someday I'll be able to help out at your mine. I have become a patreon again!! And ya' am gonna wet!!!!
Maybe you can find a way to isolate the magnet with a zip lock baggy to keep it clean. All the material comes off on the baggy, not sticking to the magnet. Another good video.
Instead of tipping the bucket, what about drilling some holes a bit below the top and letting the water and fines drain out there? Sort of like an outside bluebowl.
@@Askjeffwilliams you are a smart feller & not a fart smeller after all! lol i am only kidding sunny Jim keep dem Pants ON! so you know what I am going to say now don't you!
I would consider a shimmy cloth over the magnet for easier removal of the black sand or even a small piece of plexiglass to help keep it separated from magnet for ease of clean up. Yeah it would require a slightly larger hole than existing for accommodations for cloth..no augmentation if using plexiglass.heck even a heat gun to flatten out a piece of plastic soda bottle...or even like peak tea bottle. use the ridges of threads to hold it in place like the screen.
This reminds me of sidewinder sluice in Florence colorado they had or have what thay call the vortex buckets with a concave bottom and a magnet underneath the concave one. I wil send this to theme .
Cover the magnet on the side where the metal collects with a plastic or aluminum cap so when you want to remove the metal from magnet you just turn it cap down over a pan and pull the cap off. All the metal will fall into the pan with a light wipe and the magnet will be perfectly clean every time. Quick and easy. That’s how the magnet devices for picking up nails and metal scraps (tire poppers and foot stabbers) on construction sites.
You could heat the bucket up with a little propane torch where the 4 in hole is just put the fitting on and place a 20 pound Dumble or what ever you have it could weigh a little more on the fitting with the bucket sitting on something just on the edge on the bottom and heat it up around the fitting until it droops down just a little, I would say a half inch or so.
Put some garnet sand in there (it is very heavy) any you would have a heavy layer at the bottom. The garnet is slightly attracted to magnets, at least what I had.
I'm late to the comments but I've always wanted to use an old plastic conical fermenter (*or large funnel glued to bucket) from my homebrewing days in this manner. My idea was to epoxy neodymium magnets all over the sides of the conical part and use a paint stirrer to keep as much in suspension as possible so the magnets catch all the black sands. The bottom has a valve and when you're ready to let it settle, do so and open the valve in to a jar or pan or something and go from there. Not quite and cheap as some buckets though!
Dear and lovely Jeff. I enjoyed the technical and professional work. I have a polymetal mine where gold particles are between 40 and 60 microns. Can I separate the gold particles with your method?

Love the channel
Be Safe out there
GOD BLESS YOU ALL
thanks , really appreciate that
Similar to how I use a concrete mixer clean up the gravel in my yard. Set up a hose pointing into the mixer and just shovel in the gravel, all the mud, weeds and muck just overflows out as a slurry.
Very nice, I live in Hawaii and want to build one just for the fun of it. Great idea!
Plus Fish and Game are jerks
they should have Nuggets traps installed in the washplants
I think you and Lila just invented a very nice, cheap and useful tulls for increase the gold feewer 👍❤️
Thanks so much 😊
I think if you would put a piece of plastic like a sandwich baggy over the magnet you could just pull the magnet out of the bag and all the magnetic stuff would drop out , its a pain to try to get it off the agnet sometimes, great idea though ill be trying that
This was a great vid . I was thinking would one of those sink drain catcher screens work ?? Also could you please tell what the jet dry does ? Thanks and again great vid .
it breaks the surface tension of the water
would recommend you put a sandwich baggy around the magnet before inserting it into the bucket bottom. It keeps the magnetite and hematite from getting on it for a bit cleaner magnet. Just a suggestion!😊
Cool, thanks
Thanks Jeff! Keep the dream alive...
always our pleasure
Awesome design! I’ve used your original bucket/drill hack to save a lot of time.
works every time
You are a sick sick man I love it thanks jeff genius. And behind every good man is a good woman. So you guys are a hell of a team. Thank you both
hahaha thanks
Much as late as I am. SAVE THEM IRON ORES!!!
Editing time. Jeff, you are a gifted Kelt!
thanks
IDEA
I finally got around to watching this and I loved it BUT here is something you might try.
I have all these parts in my garage! Genius!!!
And ya' am gonna wet!!!!
thats great Tim and welcome back my brother ....we know the 5 ounce nuggets are in Lilas Drift
Jeff you have the best channel always trying to make me rich.
thanks .... we ant everyone to fins that Shiney out there
Maybe you can find a way to isolate the magnet with a zip lock baggy to keep it clean. All the material comes off on the baggy, not sticking to the magnet. Another good video.
New to the channel, informative and very entertaining. Earned my sub
thanks , really appreciate that
Instead of tipping the bucket, what about drilling some holes a bit below the top and letting the water and fines drain out there? Sort of like an outside bluebowl.
this was crazy cool!! just goes to show you can get gold if you use the right technique's! what a great vid!
Thanks so much!
@@Askjeffwilliams you are a smart feller & not a fart smeller after all! lol i am only kidding sunny Jim keep dem Pants ON! so you know what I am going to say now don't you!
This is awesome thanks for all your helpful tips and tricks brotha Man you Rock 🤘⚒️✨
Any time!
I would consider a shimmy cloth over the magnet for easier removal of the black sand or even a small piece of plexiglass to help keep it separated from magnet for ease of clean up. Yeah it would require a slightly larger hole than existing for accommodations for cloth..no augmentation if using plexiglass.heck even a heat gun to flatten out a piece of plastic soda bottle...or even like peak tea bottle. use the ridges of threads to hold it in place like the screen.
good idea
well done you two!
This reminds me of sidewinder sluice in Florence colorado they had or have what thay call the vortex buckets with a concave bottom and a magnet underneath the concave one. I wil send this to theme .
cool
That's totally rad, dude.
👍🏻👍🏻 another great video. And hello from Huntsville AL
Hi land of redstone
You're gonna have to start digging your own back yard Jeff. Great video. Good sluice, it caught all the gold and then some.
That’s how the magnet devices for picking up nails and metal scraps (tire poppers and foot stabbers) on construction sites.
good idea
Jeff, please include the promised link for magnet that you used. Thanks for another great video!

Well I'm sure the local water company is loving all the home videos lately. Hope you are feeling better Mr. Jeeeffff
about the same amount of water Golf courses waist, so they love us.
@@AskjeffwilliamsLOL, Lake Mead is empty and Jeff gets the blame.
Can I separate the gold particles with your method?
no , you will need to chemically separate them
I can’t wait for this weather to break! I came across a wash that was almost solid black sand when I was hunting WW2 .50 cal brass this spring and have been dying to sample it. Bears prospecting store is literally 1/4 mile from my house in Lake Havasu!! How lucky I am. Him not so much🤣
dude! It's always cool to see your tips, William's wiggle, Alabama bump! Lol, good stuff!
hahahahhaaaaaa
Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
you betcha
just found your channel. really enjoying it.
Awesome, thank you!
I wonder if you could put a plastic wrap over the magnet?
It would remove all of the magnetics easily.
I am new. Love your 2 videos so far I've seen. What does the jetdry do? Thank you. 💙
Welcome! breaks the surface tension on the water so that ultra fine Gold does not float on it
@Askjeffwilliams thank you Mr. Jeff.
Good job. The biggest problem is to recover gold from concentrates. Any suggestions??
many ways we have done vids on
@@Askjeffwilliams sure.. many ways. All are long process
