    Have some performance cars myself such as Aston GT8, Vantage V12S manual and I have one of these. I love it. A car doesn’t have to be an expensive performance car to be a good car. The Honda gives you emotion, feedback, excellent steering, great seats and the best manual gearbox. Get one of these and you won’t be disappointed😎

  • @maxreimann6734

    Honda are masters of making cars that give you the fizz. I've driven the newer Ferraris and McLarens, and I won't deny the performance they deliver is mind bending, but nothing I've driven puts a smile on my face like the S2000. All the horsepower and torque in the world can't replicate the sheer joy of 9000 revs, a 6 speed manual, and the wind in your hair. Honda is a truly special brand. The day they stop making cars like this will be a sad day for all driving enthusiasts.

    Never owned a Honda but loved the FL5 so much, I bought one(same color)for my wife since she was wanting to get back in a stick shift. This car lives up to expectations, and then some! The front end is razor sharp. So much bite in the corners, even with stock suspension and tires. Its amazing what kinda wizardry Honda engineers pulled off for a FWD turbo hatchback. We'll be keeping this one for a long time!

  • @InLane
    @InLane 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +38

    I have that exact car, glad you liked it as much as I do 😊
    My previous car was a Golf R estate and I have to say I do miss the auto for daily driving around town, and the 4WD for winter. Means the Type R does not get used as much as the Golf did. So I can see why people are favouring that formula, especially if it’s your one and only car.
    But the Type R wins hands down for fun, engagement and feeling ‘special’ when I get out of town.

    • @brettlarbus3970

      I just sold a gt350 and recently drove a GTI as a rental and loved it. I'm torn between golf R and Type R right now. I'm looking for that one do it all car . What's your advice?

    • @InLane
      @InLane หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@brettlarbus3970 It’s a tough call!! They can both do it all, but in different ways!!
      There is no doubt the Golf R is the better all-round daily car. The automatic gearbox is better for around town, the all wheel drive is great for rain and snow, it has more compliant suspension. In real world conditions you will get from A to B faster, it’s rapid!! Space wise it’s equal, although, Golf R is a five seater, the Type R a four seater. The Golf R is also much more subtle, so you can park it anywhere and nobody will look at it twice.
      However, the Golf R is NOT special, the Type R is. Test drive one, it’s unreal. Many have said it feels like a Porsche GT car. The gearbox, steering, engine, brakes are on a different level. It’s a true sports car. The interior is significantly better than the Golf MK 8. It also looks more special on the outside, it’s stunning. And it’s still practical enough, amazing front seats, loads of space in the back, massive boot, all the tech features. It’s currently my only car and I have 2 kids and a dog! It’s a big car, nearly M3 sized. The only drawbacks are that amazing manual gearbox is less suited to commuting in city traffic,…and (for me) a greater concern leaving it parked somewhere because it’s more attention grabbing. That big rear wing etc
      So really do you want the ultimate daily (Golf R), but a bit dull and generic. Or make a couple of minor practical compromises for an all time great everyday sports car. Your call! Depends on what fits your own life.
      Final point on the Golf R. I had the MK7.5 which is great inside and out. The MK8 has the worst infotainment and I don’t like the interior design. They kinda sorted some of it for the MK8.5. Personally I wouldn’t touch a MK8. It would have to be 7.5 or 8.5
      Feel free to ask me any more questions!

    Had loads of hondas over the years. Preludes,S2000's, Civic type r ,etc. Great cars had lots of fun in them over the years. Motorsport heritage means alot and you can feel that little bit in every car,which make it special, different from the rest . Focus RS is already dead, Honda the only one left doing the hot hatch drivers car, maybe Toyota also with the Yaris GR. There is a corolla GR, but that's only available in the US. You should feature more "affordable/down to earth" cars, enjoyed the review.

      As I understand the GR Corolla is an amazing car from TH-camr’s and motor-/car journalists from Canada, the US and Australia where it’s available among other markets except Europe unfortunately. But where it would be priced compared to Honda Civic Type R FL5 and other hot hatches I’m it sure if it were available here. Or if would stand a chance in the competitive hot hatch market here in Europe. It maybe would compete against the GR Yaris or GR86 and eat markets from them and that’s why Toyota don’t bring it to Europe. I wouldn’t mind to see the GR Corolla in European shores though

    My EP3 is a tenth of the price and has the gear change on the dash. Less than a hands width from the steering wheel.
    197bhp and as Chris Harris said, modern hot hatches could learn a lot from it.

    What annoys me with hot hatches and saloons nowadays is how much they cut corners with must haves. Especially when they're supposed to be a car that can "do it all". • @monk3yboy69

      They are almost identical…
      The sedan merely has a slight butt edge to the tail end .
      And by slight , I do mean just there.
      You could be forgiven for thinking the sedan might just be a lift back.
      I prefer a sedan but this wins over being more practical with the hatchback .

    I have a real soft spot for Type R's. Yes it's a bit chavvy but they're just fun and childish... And we all need a little fun!
    Not really a hot hatch any more, and it definitely puts the Civic in a different class of cars compared top previous generations... Noticeably larger with more elegant premium design (and a price tag to reflect that!).
    I wish they offered it with 4WD i.e. FWD with the ability to send power to the rear when it loses traction. Obviously not happening though...
