    when i first reached out to Odin the Allfather, i climbed my local mountain, found a nice open clearing with a table like tree stump then i placed a small glass and poured in some ale as an offering and talked to him, told him why i chose to answer that feeling that was calling out to me. Anyways i alked out of that mountain that day crying for three days..a good cry i felt ...home!

    I'm a Norwegian, and i've always longed after my roots. I live in northern Norway, where we experience dark time and the midnight sun. I've always felt a very strong connection to our celebrations of Sankthans and Yule, as well as my ancestors religion (norse paganism). So i am here to learn more!

    I’ve always been drawn to Norse Paganism ever since I was little, but was always shut down for it because my family is Christian. I was also shut down from it because I’ve never seen anyone that looks like me in the faith. My life has literally been you’re either a Christian or your an atheist because no one around me was anything different. I want to finally listen to the call and study Norse Paganism, but I know it’ll be hard to transition because I was/am a person that would be connected to the Holy Spirit to pray over people and help them. I know it’s not going to be easy to let go of something that’s been drilled into my head, but I need to find out why this faith keeps calling to me. It’s been calling to me for years. And I need to make sense of what I believe. If you have any advice, I would appreciate it, but I believe am ready to start studying Norse Paganism.

    • @mynorsepaganjourney2452
      @mynorsepaganjourney2452  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So my best advice would be to take it day by day. Take your time with it. Study and do some research. Read the lore. Maybe while your doing all that it will come to you and you may then fully understand the reasoning. Also try meditating. That may help you figure somethings out as well.

      I feel ya because to make a long story short, years ago I was a pentecostal preacher in christianity and as an evangelist I traveled across many states and in Canada but some of the things I witnessed first hand wasn't good, like the people being robbed by preacher's and not living the life they said they were living. I don't want to bash christianity but I found out that it wasn't for me so as time went on and two of my son's being Norse Pagan I researched it and in time professed Heathenry (Norse Paganism) as my faith. So that said I just wanted to let you know that you'll find out Norse Paganism is a wonderful life altering journey, hang in there ☺️

      When writing runes, the norse never wrote two similar letters after each other. And they also used younger fuþark while the older proto germanic peoples used elder fuþark.
      So the old norse translation of "hail Odin" , would be "heill Óðinn" with latin letters and "ᚼᛅᛁᛚ᛫ᚬᚦᛁᚾ" in younger fuþark.

    I can proudly say that as of last June, I had decided to finally tell myself that Christianity was never for me, after hearing that I had somehow fit more into paganism then that. I didn't choose which faith or path to pursue first, as I needed to get that phsycological fear that the church had inflicted on me for years out of my head, and open myself up more before I'd fully dig into it. I needed to get myself into the proper mindset before bulging into this new field. I feel that Norse Paganism is mostly calling to me, and now after watching this video, I have a more clear aspect on where to start, as thats always been a struggle for me. thank you for helping me pursue a path I've always had, but never admitted to.

    I have a question: I've left Christianity a few years back but I've been so indoctrinated into it and scarred from it. Are there any tips to unlearn these habits(specifically the fear of pissing off the gods, feeling like I have to be 100% devoted or else I'm unworthy, etc)? I've been trying but I'd appreciate any tips for it while I'm my journeys through norse paganism

      When I left Christianity some years ago I wasn’t fully into into I had already started drifting away from year many years before that. But I would just take it set by step. Get to really know and understand our gods. Learn what kind of offerings they like or what they are a god or goddess of and really feel them and connect with them. I feel like that made it all easier for me.

      Just remember in Christianity we are taught to feel guilt for sinning. So far I have learned in Norse Paganism is that the gods are there to help and guide us and we should not feel guilt for past things. We only learn and grow as we read and study about our gods. Our gods are nit there to makes us feel crappy about things we do but to learn how to make right decisions and keep learning. Our gods are almost like friends and family only with higher power. We respect them and honor them and they do the same back to us. I have only began my journey but it has been amazing so far. Remember to really dig in and understand how we can always honor the gods. I hope this helps

    I have had a few different sources to go to and im glad youre exactly like all of them ive come to.
    Saying what u know. Saying just how personal it is.
    I studied runology for about a year before turning to asatru or norse paganism as ive been following a pagan path since i was a child. As ive come into norse paganism, I think runes as a language are something i know most about. Not even the eddas or stories or legends. They are SUPER powerful spiritually.
    And yeah listen to this man about the vikings TV show lbvs. As a modern thing, which is now recognized federally in the US as a religion its all different. Service to others, integrity, honor, moderation, and happiness means the most to the folk and the faith.
    Im glad to see pagans like you and I subscribed

Earlier today I spoke to Odin and Thor asking for a sign, I said if I was given a sign I would follow them for the rest of my life, and I got my sign so that really just solidified everything for me

    Great stuff brother! Grew up with basic Christianity Sundays every now and then. Only went to Catholic churches when someone got married. Had no clue I wasn't supposed to go up for Communion if I wasn't Catholic, I just followed everyone else. Anyway, got lucked up at 35 and went to Christian services, seemed like a front for most men and claiming that God has saved them from all their bad sins. Didn't stick with that, I studied Catholicism and eventually got baptized, feeling a lot from the saint's from time to time in my life but seems that with all things that have gone on in recent years, and lot of issues throughout time with Catholicism, I just lost that faith. Over the last 10 years, knowing my Scots/Irish lineage, I've done research and have read many things on the Celts. Might as well go to the roots of my lineage and learn. I have been intrigued by the Celtic/Irish/Scottish paganism but feel that i have more of a calling and relationship with the Gods in Norse paganism. so there is my history. I will be doing my research and I know that my true way of life is becoming a Norse pagan. Thank you for the videos that have been so helpful in this journey.

    Great video. I have been a Norse pagan for a year and a few months now. I am reading the Poetic Edda and sources online. I used to be a bible believing Christian, became a Catholic after years of reading the bible and then after a bad experience in a confession it really made me think differently about my faith. Then i started noticing all the hypocrisy in religion, not just Catholicism, but of the Abrahamic faiths in general. And i was also reading and learning most of everything in Christianity, especially Catholicism was mostly pagan to begin with. I always felt way more connected the religion of the vikings, even when i converted to Catholicism because i studied church history and medieval history as well. Something about the norse way i felt strongly connected to it even though it was forbidden to worship "false gods" i felt connected to it anyway. I loved the mythology, the lore, and i always thought the gods were bad ass. So after all that in mind, i am now a Norse pagan.

My uncle embraced it so much and was really in touch with his Norse ancestors but my parents hid it from me (I’m guessing because they consider it terrible (Catholics like ignorance is bliss) so for anyone here who is a Norse pagan with actual Icelandic lineage I would love your opinion on this and if you just can feel your ancestors energy and that feeling I can’t explain.

    This was helpful. I'm trying to find my faith, growing up in a catholic styled household I'm trying to figure out what it is that i believe.
    I agree with Christianity on quite a few points. But I'm not sure if i believe in their idea of a god. Nordic paganism I've always felt a calling to. I have a calling to both Catholicism and Asatru so I'm trying to find a middle ground where I feel comfortable and feel enlightened or informed.
    Thank you for this.

    Hello i have a big question and i hope you can answer me 😅 nevertheless have a nice day. Here ist my question (sorry for my bad Englisch)
    I was Reading a text in the Internet about helheim and there was written that when you go there Hel will come to you and look in youre soul and decide if you are a good or bad human. After that If you are a good human you can go to the hall and drink, play games... But when you are a bad person you wil pushed into a lake where Speers will Go thru you and because you are already dead you will suffer eternally. Well ist that true ?

    • @mynorsepaganjourney2452
      @mynorsepaganjourney2452  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey man first of all thanks for the question! So first of all this journey is all about what you believe to be true. And if you believe that this text you read is true than it is true to you. Because some will agree with you and some won’t. That’s the beauty of all this! Thanks again for the question!

    i grew up in a pagen familey and when i was little my parents would read me story about the gods. I'm 14 now and I'm trying to find a deeper understanding of my religon, but its been really difficult to research because of tik tok and youtube because there's so much information and I've been having trouble knowing what info is actually norse paginism and whats not (you don't know how many teenage girls on tiktok who call themselves norse pagens there are who couldn't tell you a single god's name, but try to teach people how to do "spells" aka putting random herbs in a bottle). I'm so confused but i don't wanna ask my parents, because i don't think they will take me seriously because I'm so young. there are plenty of things i already do, like meditating, giving offerings to the gods, studying runes, connecting with nature, and speaking with the gods, but i want to know more of the history so i can understand more. Dose anyone have any reliable websites or sources i can cheak out?

      When I do my research I fact check every website I read by either looking in books or by finding at least 2 more websites. If they all say the same thing then usually is more truth than not.
