Most religions wouldn’t even bother to ask “is it right for you?” They’d go straight to “this is why it’s right for you”

Cathwulf, that's because truth is exclusive and singular: there can only be one truth, otherwise it would violate the law of non contradiction. Logically, it wouldn't matter if it 'fits in your life, or works for you', the truth is the truth.

    1) You love being outdoors - Yes! Yes! Yes!
2 ) You enjoy observing the seasons change - I love it and I really enjoy eating seasonally!
    3) You believe there is a higher intelligence or force, but you are uncomfortable with the accepted notion of an all powerful, perfect God - Totally! I also think that every living thing on this planet is a piece of that "higher intelligence or force" making each of us divine.
    4) You want a spirituality that embraces the sacred Masculine & the sacred Feminine - Yes, as a woman, honoring the sacred Feminine in addition to the sacred Masculine helps me to love and respect myself.
    5) You have an interest in ancient civilizations - Yes, especially ancient Egypt and India!
    6) You are uncomfortable with the excessive materialism in the world - Yes! The materialism and addiction to screens (phones, computers, VR) totally depress me.

I started researching paganism just randomly last night and it turns out I already always was one. I go for 10 hours walks in the snow outside the city, carve symbols on stones, observe nature and cycles very closely over a long period of time, love astronomy and ancient civilization, study trees/plants/fungi and the physical laws of our universe, learn the habits of local animals, I can interact a little bit better with wild animals than normal people, make sacred places in forests, have close cultural ties to the traditions of my ancestors, value exercise instead of sedentary lifestyle, I am hypnotized by the full moon, I go outside to participate in extreme weather, travel to extreme landscapes, respect the Atlantic Ocean and the Milky Way and have always had trouble explaining this to the people in the big city I live in

@@anushka1257 Well Wicca is a religion that usually involves witchcraft but not always, it depends on the wiccan. There are different branches of Wicca, but most wiccans can agree that Wicca matures us spiritually, that nature is a sacred thing that should be taken care of and respected and that magick is a way of life, and not power. (There are those who seek Wicca for power, they're on the wrong path). There are various gods and goddesses though the general teaching is that all come from a single God and Goddess. For me personally the God and Goddess are present in everything and everyone, therefore, we're all connected and sacred beings not below nor above anyone or anything. Seeking a path of avoidance of harming others and showing kindness is a central teaching that most wiccans can also agree on, especially because our actions will have consequences. I feel Wicca to be a wonderful and enriching experience in my life and both Wicca and Hinduism are more similiar than one would think. 😉

I've been a practicing Pagan since my mid teens (now 53) and you ticked every box and you're right there is so much more to Paganism and it is different for everyone.
Being kind to every creature, the plants, the environment, appreciating the veil morning mist, the rumbling sounds of thunder and the sereness of evening sunsets, the foods we eat, the clothes we wear and the water we bathe in, it's not just about following a calendar and praying to the full moon, being a Pagan comes from the heart and from within your soul, it's inside you.

I think we should be seekers, be willing to learn about the beliefs of others instead of thinking we're right and others are wrong. The Church doesn't accept you, but I know Jesus would. I wish people would do a better job of loving unconditionally like Jesus did. I also love that Paganism respects women, it scares me how much sexism the Christian religion has. I’ve always felt guilty that I haven’t been good enough, always the pressure to be a better Christian and while I do believe it has good things in it, it hasn’t given me purpose or a true spiritual life. It’s just... so much that isn’t working but I’ve been afraid to even look anywhere else. My wife became Norse pagan earlier this year and she just jumped in full force. Things that can be important when considering Paganism is having an open mind and heart. This 'tent' (see John Beckett's book) is huge and I think most / all of us have different views. So having an open heart and mind can allow you to learn people's beliefs without criticism. Another item that can be a flag that Paganism might be right for someone is the strong ability to question. Questioning the standard norms within religion (Judeo-Christian-Islamic) is healthy. If someone frequently has questions that aren't easily answered in their born-faith might find it in a Pagan spirituality or belief system.

I've always felt DEEPLY connected to nature and when I felt stressed or overwhelmed in life I would walk the nature trails and stay quiet sitting next to a large gnarly tree (which I felt drawn to since felt had more wisdom) and listen for wisdom. Luckily, Paganism is diverse and tends to be much more LGBT-friendly (excluding most Volkists) than most forms of Christianity. I'd recommend looking more into Paganism.

There are blogs, forums, videos, and social media groups dedicated to this change. It helps to fill yourself with some or all of them and then take what you can relate to your life! Blessed Be.

Paganism is a beautiful and ancient religion that declined dramatically because it was not forced upon people for the benefits of mens power struggle and obsession with dominating each other.
Paganism is pure and free and open to ones own interpretation of the religion, this makes the religion very unique to each individuals experience of it.
the main and supreme dayety is nature and in particular the seasons and the celestial universe we observe with the sun moon and stars.
I was born a christian but I always worshipped god through nature and I have a deep love and connection for the natural world.
I hope to see an increase in the practice of Paganism because I think the world would be a more peaceful and cleaner place if people appreciated nature and all of its wonders.

Of course modern day Pagans and neo Pagans don't practice the same way it was practiced in ancient times. That doesn't make it any less valid. In some cases, it makes it even better!

A thing to note about pagan gods: I think the important thing to understand is not that they are imperfect (I'm not even sure what perfection means in the pagan worldview), but rather that they are beings who fall above you in nature's hierarchy. As such, it is your place to respect them, but never to judge them.

Yours is definitely one perspective. I’ve considered myself Pagan and have studied its intricate avenues for over 50 years. In my view, the all inclusive Universal Energy, along with the connectiveness and balance of ALL within it, is the perfect Power. I’ve found Truth in all religions and believe that the primal root of all of them stems from that same power. Each one is just a different interpretation of that same power. None wrong or false or incorrect or better than another ....just different. Whatever fills and soothes one’s soul and brings one Peace....ultimately this then brings balance to one’s life and helps one blend into that universal energy.

I’m a pantheist (and possible animist) and I only recently realised that I might be pagan all along. I believe in a spiritual force that’s equivalent to energy in the universe, I see divinity in nature and that we’re all interconnected, and I’m certain that materialism/consumerism is what’s disconnecting us from nature and is separating us as social animals. There’s no “man for himself”, we look out for each other. I thought paganism was exclusively polytheistic, but it’s so much more.

    • @Amora5503
      @Amora5503 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Me too! I just started my pagan journey days ago because I didn't know that neopaganism is different from traditional paganism in the sense that it does mean being polytheistic.
I too see the universe in the same way that you do, pantheism and some animistic traits (I believe everything has its own energy but I don't necessarily believe in the mysticism part of animism)! If I ever worked with gods and goddesses I would just see them as personifications of elements of the universe, nature and life that humans long try to understand. I don't necessarily believe the gods are true human-like powerful beings that look down on us. I see them as humanized elements of the universe, since it's easier to understand outwardly concepts when we humanize them and make them closer to what we know and perceive

    1. Without a doubt.
    2. Yes, although I believe this to just be an extenstion of the last question, if I'm honest.
    3. This is the one where I struggle a bit. I am uncomfortable with the monotheistic notion of god, I'd even go so far as to call it authoritarian, but as far as whether or not a higher power exists, I'm still unsure.
    4. Yes, it would be especially important for me to keep the sacred masculine and feminine equal in my practice because I identify as non-binary. I might even go looking for some genderless deities to worship, but I think sticking to a balance between masculine and feminine should be fine.
    5. Yes, and I have been ever since elementary school.
    6. Yeah. I don't necessarily think that materialism is inherently bad, but it's something that I've never understood, and I loathe the way capitalism teaches people to value it over human life.
I'll definitely consider paganism if I find my current path of secularism to be lacking.

I remember going straight from Mormonism to paganism for like a year. but the stuff I was told growing up as Mormon was really hurting me. So I had to take a step back and really deconstruct my upbringing. I found a few channels on critical thinking Wich really helped me look at my upbringing and at other religions from a different point of view. I then found this one pagan TH-camr who's actually freinds with alot of athiest TH-camrs and ive just been learning about paganism and am realizing that because I jumped from Mormonism into paganism my Mormon upbringing prevented me from really understanding it untill now. I don't really believe in any gods or anything but I do think we are all connected in some way and that connecting with nature is really refreshing and I often feel this draw to the forest and get really depressed if I can't go on hikes for awhile. I've started to feel this really strong draw to learning about the celts, vikings and there mythology probably because that's who my ansesters were. I really feel drawn to Odin but see him more as a symbol rather than someone who actually existed. I can and do relate to every point you made tho Wich is probably why I still have a draw to paganism and if not practicing it at least learning about it.

Scarlet, very good video, very relaxing. Check on all 6. - 1. Being outdoors. 2. Observing nature, the change of Seasons & Holidays. 3. I've been drawn to the Anglo-Saxon, Norse Pantheon, they have been there for me, I also include beliefs like the fae, land spirits, Laars at the cross roads, & so on, from Britain & Ireland, however, the Pantheon I relate to is Anglo-Saxon, Norse. 4. Woden & Frigga are equal as well as women & men. 5. Yes I take a little neo of todays world & reconstruction & place things together too. 6. Getting back to basics & simple living. Suggestions? (AS FOR ME) Keeping a Journal, Book of Shadows, Common Place Book, or even a Grimoire. Paganism is not about HOLLYWOOD & special effects, it is about the natural cycle of things. Eucation & study is key. Keeping things clean is very important. Intention, is very important. Confidence, is very important. Protection, is very important. Bringing things into a persons life or into the lives of others, is very important. Paganism is a vehicle & should never be used for harm. Paganism is not a toy. My path is that of Britain, Ireland & New England: Celtic, Pict, Roman, Anglo-Saxon, Norse. Breathing, meditation, visualization, observation, an open window, fresh air, clean house, well made bed, healthy breakfast with tea, fruit, nuts, berries, grains & a SAFE walk in nature is a good way to heal & start the day. Happy to see kitty's getting better. Have a HappyDay! RD.

I agree on all points but I'm doubting about 4.
I don't believe in a bigger force in the form of gods who have some form of control. I believe in energy, and I'm honouring earth in all it's beauty. I think we all have masculine and feminine energy and think we all should honour both.
    Hard to explain...
Would that be paganism as well, or more my own view?

I know i'm super late, but not all pagans believe in Gods in the mainstream sense of the word, there's many many different forms of 'the divine', one popular one infact being that there is an energy that connects us all much like you say

    Am 5 and 6 definitely.
I've been trying to get back into faith but I heavily indenify more of the greco Roman paganism and christianity.
The Christianity I speak of is the more earlier one's like Augustin, Constantine, and Thomas Aquinas.
I really do believe that the Roman's were a great and honorable people with a great sense of philosophy and politics.
It might condictary to combine Roman paganism with christianity but feels very natural to go in that direction.
It makes no sense to me to shun the more earlier pagan elements of christianity and infuse it with Greco Roman paganism.
    Any advice on this?

This is fascinating. A good video for me to get a general understanding what paganism is and the history behind it. I’ve been fairly agnostic for awhile, but couldn’t deny that there’s just something else out there I can feel it and always have. My grandmother owns land in northern WI and I always say the quote “I took to the woods to loose my mind and find my soul” thanks for the video! Definitely subscribed.

Loving the outdoors: FUCK YEA i love everything nature, its amazing and we should embrace nature for what it has done for us. Also, i love and respect all animals and creatures, even plants. Theyre alive. Respect.
enjoying observing the seasons change: Yes, its hard to embrace the colder seasons since i have SAD disorder, but i love it when it doesnt depress me. I love the subtle changes, as you put it. What i really enjoy is the weather, i fucking love rain, snow, storms, everything. I also kinda believe in reincarnation hehe.
Believeing in a higher Intelligence, uncomfortable believing in a Christian god and ect: I guess, i dont really believe in gods, though i dont NOT believe in them. I like what the ancient gods reperstent. I mostly want to worship the life in everything, and nature. I believe our actions influence our place in this world, and beyond it. So basically yes
The devine feminine/masculine: im nonbinary, so what i view gender as is very fluid. I dont think theres necessarily two, feminine/masculine. But a whole mix of things. Like two drops of ink dropped in water and how they mix, dilute, and and make their own colors. I love that.
I think i want to build my own paganism, take the things i connect with, and transform them into something i enjoy and thrive in.
Uncomfortable with excessive materialism: i think so, coming from a place of poverty, ive always viewed fast fashion, and wasting things as stupid. I want to honour the earth and treat it with respect. I want enough money to live comfortably, thats all i want and i dont need a bunch of money laying around just cause.
Thanks, im really new to paganism, and i think i might be pagan. I love the flexibility of it, other religions are so strict and confiding, it disgusts me ngl. I, of course, respect peoples beliefs though.

I currently identify as a Norse pagan but I also find alot of inspiration in the ancient Chinese text the Tao Te Ching and for me even though I'm a Norse pagan The Tao/The Way is something which resonates with me very much.
