  • During this video I talk about 7 Books that I think any beginner or anyone who seeks more knowledge into Norse Paganism should read. I discuss each book and also discuss reasons why I feel these books are essential for those who are just beginning on their journey. I hope y'all enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed making this video. Thank you!
My name is Anthony and this is My Norse Pagan Journey. I started my journey by honestly a google search years ago about "Norse Mythology". I did countless months/years of research, reading and studying and I found that this was the journey and path for me.
I want the newer and younger Norse Pagans, Heathens and Asatru followers to know that they are not alone in their journey. I thought I was alone when I first started and now I know I am not. There are many of us all around Midgard who are Norse Pagans, Heathens and Asatru followers. So please join me on my journey and we can walk this path together!
If you have any recommendations for videos let me know. Thank You!
Thank you for watching my videos and please like and subscribe so that we together can help spread knowledge.
Thank you for joining me on my adventure!

    My essentials:
    Poetic Edda
Teutonic Mythology by Jacob Grimm (order the 4 volume set straight from Cambridge University is recommended, buying from others cuts out big chunks of it)
    Germania by Tacitus
Myths and Symbols in Pagan Europe by H.R. Ellis Davidson
Grimm's Fairy Tales (very interesting to see how ancient Germanic morals and virtues are transcribed in later eras via these stories, which themselves are also quite old)
Gods and Myths of Northern Europe by H.R. Ellis Davidson
The Northern Dawn by Stephen Flowers
it's no joke when people say this is the religion with homework. We don't have a "bible" so we utilize history, anthropology, archaeology, and cultural studies. This is why I cannot emphasize how important it is for people to read Teutonic Mythology by Jacob Grimm. I'm always saddened to hear how many people have never even heard of it but those who read it deem it as perhaps the most vital work on the subject.

I recently picked up The Way of Fire and Ice and I've been really enjoying it. I'm happy to see others have benefited from reading it, too.

Is the whole havamal in the poetic edda Crawford edition? After the first chapter it goes into Odin's Havamal, is it still worth picking up the stand alone Havamal?

That’s totally up to you. I have both. Just cuz I like having the havamal separate as well

The Havamal is part of the poetic edda, yes?

What order would you suggest reading these to get a better understanding of it for someone just starting their journey?

I read the eddas and Norse mythology first to understand the lore. And then read the rest.

Is the soul of the north only a hard copy? I couldn’t find a digital copy on kindle or Apple Books.

The asatru communities website. You don’t have to be a member to do it either.
