EDIT2: Ah, editing at night isn't that great it seems, the drivers used with the 4080 Super are the "551.86" not "571.86" of course. EDIT: There's a typo on the RTX 4080 Super price on the specifications part! It's around $1130, not $799 obviously! With the RX 7900XTX being $899. Hope you guys enjoy this video, and let me know what you think about these results and my chart :D
@@MakeSh00t Yeah I can notice with my naked eye the difference in 300 and 400 fps too and with all this wattage that my 4090 ti SLI rig can pull I also really need the power savings from the 7800X3D as well.....No but seriously, there isn't a huge difference and if there is one at all it usually is insignificant and you wouldn't notice in gaming. (also 7700x faster for production and workload tasks)
@@docwizi went from a 5700xt so 2070 performance to 7900xt not the xtx and not dissapointed at all its a beast for 1440p gaming. the 20gb vram and 10% faster raster on average compared to 4070ti super it was a no brainer at 699 vs 820 dollars being the cheaper 4070ti super near me.
In my country, every Nvidia model is pricier than AMD with same performance. I knew some people will bought Nvidia because those seller keep saying Nvidia is better than AMD while they got profits by doing this
Here it's around 100 to 300 more depending on the models. If i were to make a purchase right now i'd definitely go for Nvidia, the tech that you can use with those cards is clearly superior to anything AMD has on offer currently. DLSS and better ray tracing performance may not be worth the higher cost to everyone though, depending on the games they play.
US consumer here. I bought the 7900 XT for 1440p (paired with 7800X3D). I like RT, sure, but the only tier I like it at *is* the 4080, since most cards under it seemed kinda disappointing to me for the money, and the 4080 variants were all $500 USD more than my 7900 XT, and I didn't feel the 7900 XTX would really serve my interests/needs at ~$200 more (and the power consumption was a concern at that level). My 7900 XT (Sapphire Pulse) was $700, and the cheapest 4080s (any variant/tier) available were over $1200 at the time of purchase. I know the XTX is supposed to be its competition, but that was around $910, too, since I checked. Still a big price jump in the US to get what I'd want out of Nvidia's features. If you're in a place where Nvidia is actually cheaper, go for it. You really can't go wrong with either company, and I'm not a loyalist. I've owned 3dfx, ATI, AMD, and Nvidia. One odd thing to me is the overwhelming criticism of AMD drivers. Besides a rare issue on the cutting edge, I've never had issues. Though, tuning through Nvidia Profile Inspector at a technical level always seemed easier to me for those that like to tailor-make their settings profiles for various games. I had a lot of success with that in Vindictus (custom Source engine variant) back in the day.
AMD drivers issues are so true as NVIDIA hw or sw problems before expected end of life... it all depends if you get the correct jumps when changing from one make to other, when we could... I've lost real money because AMD's non-sensical issues in a show demo in front of potential clients... total nightmare... the same as having to upgrade a PC because Nvidia drivers started to crash a fully working system after an update... mix and match parts and solve the "issue" for years... RX 6000 was a little too epxensive but much better deal than any RTX 30, 20 or GTX 10... now is just RTX 40 is so much better than RX 7000 only problem being as you say prices and availability... but also driver and source code optimization, to the point NVIDIA has stopped to update some games to free man power to work at most profitable AI tasks and some months after go back to let's fix some new games bugs and optimization and launch some features... is the achiles point of AMD, the sw side, not that it is "bad" or "bad" always, but a lot of times you realize (or can show it yourself with your own code) that AMD products had so much more potential of runing faster and better than they do at day 0 of launch or even some years after... good thing they keep support for years going on and you'll be able to retire the hw when it is truly obsolete or superseeded... but time to time it happens... they manage to survive but they can be deceiving like all the others intel, nvidia, apple,...
4070 Super customer here. RT performance is tremendous with DLSS. I thought I wouldn’t want to use DLSS but that’s because FSR on my previous card sucked. DLSS is not only usable, it’s stupid not to use it. You get a performance uplift of 30-50% without sacrificing visual quality. Not to mention that in Battlefield V and a couple of other games I don’t need DLSS and still get 150 FPS at RT High. My performance with RT in some games is so high that instead of DLSS I use DLAA. DLAA is the new TXAA and some games don’t offer DXAA as DLAA is better at increasing sharpness. And guess what…. AMD cards can’t use DLAA.
where I live the cheapest RTX 4080 super is around 8% more expensive than the cheapest RX 7900XTX (I could find). not insignificant but the RT, DLSS and lower power consumption might be worth it IMO.
@@d4nith3 it is not just about electricity, extra heat meaning your cooling solution will have to work hard to dissipate the extra heat, fans spin faster or the cooler needs to be bigger, also it heats your room - OK in the winter but not so much in the summer.
@@eliadbu The one thing you're missing is the AMD software, you can set per game profiles, undervolt and downclock where it's not needed and keep the 7900xtx well under 200w. From my testing, even at 250w the 7900xtx still performs pretty well, I was able to get it to 250w or less by downclocking from stock 2.5ghz to 2.3ghz. On the upper end, a partner 7900xtx will run around 2.8-2.9ghz with 400w and with tuning will pass 3ghz at 400w. Remember, you can very easily build these profiles on a per game basis in adrenalin.
@@PineyJustice all of that I can do on msi afterburner, which I find myself using more - even when I had AMD card. You can also power limit the RTX 4080 for even lower power consumption. That's the whole point of performance per watt.
@@joniqst It's a pretty solid performance difference. Going from a 6950xt which sat between a 3090 and 3090ti is around a 50% increase going to a 7900xtx. I've got both a 6950xt and a 7900xtx, both sapphire nitro, and it's fair to say that the 7900 gets about the same fps or a bit higher native than the 6950xt gets at the same resolution using FSR, this is the most noticeable change between them, the 7900xtx uses about the same or slightly less power than the 6950xt while having a much beefier cooler so it's dead silent too, which is also nice. Edit, the 24gb of vram is also nice, if I leave blender open in the background, some games would run my 16gb of vram out and cause issues, with 24gb I can run blender and any game, even at 4k without issues.
@@PineyJustice I also went from a 6950xt to a 7900xtx, both Powercolor Red devil's. And my experience is just the same as yours. 30-50% performance uplift, less noise, lower temps, and i suppose about the same powerdraw when you calculate in that the 6000 series under reported the powerdraw.
Just got a 7900 xtx for 589 on Amazon. No joke. It turns out it was a bogus listing but I notified Amazon that I had already sold my previous card on the premise of the deal. Which I had. They honored the price. What a steal! THANK YOU AMAZON. Love a company that actually has integrity

Just to let you know, your OC/undervolt setting for AMD GPU card is become standard/benchmark for most of my country AMD community,, Keep up the amazing work👍
I went from a 3080ti to a 7900xtx a year ago. It's been good for the most part. I didn't think I'd miss cuda, but surprisingly, I use it for work. I think if all you do is game, the AMD card is great, but it's a bit unstable when trying to multitask productivity for work. I think next generation I'll be going back to nvidia, but that will depend on how ridiculous their pricing will become. They're greedier than Apple and nastier than EA.
Looks like SAM does most of the heavy lifting for the XTX. With only SAM enabled and a healthy undervolt that efficiency gap likely narrows quite a bit.
As someone who has been team green all my life and tried out the 7900 XTX for several months now but I'm going to swap out for an RTX 4080 Super. Let me make this simple for people who's deciding which 1 to get. If you play games just for max FPS and don't care about Ray Tracing but also will be fine with using Adrenaline software tool from AMD go with that card there is no downside and you get just as good or better FPS in some situations. If you want to use Ray Tracing at all like in Soul games or play games that can take advantage of DLSS I would go with the 4080 super and that's exactly why I'm switching I use to not care about Ray Tracing because I mostly played competitive games and just wanted max FPS but now I'm getting into other games that I want to look nicer and turn it on like for example Elden Ring but I notice I get hard frame drops below 60 FPS when I use it with 7900 XTX plus I'm not a fan of Adrenaline software although it looks nice I just can't bother with it I tried on several occasion but it made the game feel worse so I just leave everything on default with custom fan curves so my fans stay on with the card. I feel like Nvidia has a lot better optimization in there Nvidia Control Panel. I also didn't like hearing that AMD would be dropping from making high-end GPUs now which leaves me to believe that sometime in the future I won't be getting as good updates geared towards high end graphics but let's hope that's not the case. If you do go with 7900 XTX I highly suggest 'XFX Speedster MERC310 AMD Radeon RX 7900XTX' I've had no issues with the card and it preforms amazing but again I just want to start getting into other games that use Ray Tracing and team red just can't handle it but other than that I've had zero crashes or any issues with the card and my FPS is always solid.
@gamer8622 ray tracing is not good in some games that I played like plague tale or even hellblade etc. I tryed to play rt in my 4070 in with my 2k g7 monitor and that's not for me but is good to have as an option as Fabio told for some games that you just can't turn it off and by the way in that games ray tracing is gorgeous like in AFOP . Short terms 4k max textures is better than ray tracing and for that you need vram which 24 gb is very good
@@gamer8622 true, but at the same time it looks like RT and upscaling are becoming the "meta" as we keep going They keep churning out games that hit certain performance (khm khm the 60 fps reference) ...but with upscaling. For pure gaming right now you should get the 7900 XTX depending on your country's prices. If prices are similar I'd go 4080 super any day because of how close it is in raster while being significantly better in everything else + you won't change it for at least next 2 generations (shouldn't) so the upcoming games which, again, are becoming RT and upscaling heavy, will let you ride it out longer and smoother until you finally get the new one years down the road
AMD was better in that department than NVIDIA on the previous gen while also being cheaper and offering more VRAM on the high end, and still people didn't buy as much...
Here in the UK the price difference is more like £100-130, so the 4080S is more viable here. I recently sold my 1.5y-old XTX and got a new 4080S for an extra £260, which I reckon was worth it for the features, reliability and much better efficiency, plus of course switching from a 1.5y old card to a brand new one. Since I play at 4K, DLSS is extra useful vs. FSR for me.
@@TheMrSatyricon Well having used both for a while now, I think it's worth it, it's not a hypothetical matter as I've tried both now and know for a fact that it was worth it in my case. Even swapping a 1.5y used XTX to a new XTX for £260 would be reasonable, let alone swapping it to a GPU that I'm already feeling a lot of tangible improvements from.
Every case and taste is individual. For me personally, with my gaming preference, the 7900xtx (nitro+) was an absolute no brainer. Happy gaming brother.
I got 4080super 14days ago. I undervolted it to 0.910v/2550mhz+1550memory oc. Power draw is around 200w in 4K(280-320w stock) and performance is same as stock. Crazy good card. Not to mention DLSS/DLAA/DL DSR/Frame gen/RTX HDR/Reflex/RTX super resolution(its pretty good actually for 1080P youtube videos upscale to 4k) features.
@@AncientGameplays if you oc memory to +1550mhz you will get few % more performance and it will offset slower core boost(2700vs2550mhz is 5% slower) so yeah performance will be pretty much same as stock. I tested it in few gmes.
I'm rocking a Merc 310 7900XTX with a 7800X3D with SAM enabled. Just running the AMD "Rage" setting I'm getting 3100+mhz boost clocks and this thing is killing it with games running at 4K Ultra settings. Very happy with the rig.
Those merc cards are awesome and close to the sapphire nitro models however I'm not sure why they decided to add a white backplate this time around when the 6000 series all black was such a sleek look.
Similar rasterization means the 7900 XTX wins out for me. Yes, the 4080 Super is more power efficient, better upscaling and has better RT, but while the efficiency would be nice, I still haven't seen a game to make me care about RT outside of CP2077 and Path Tracing, and with cards this powerful I don't need upscaling at 3440x1440. Where the 7900 XTX wins out is a better software experience, lower price for the same performance, and much more RAM in case I need it at some point. (lots of texture mods running in CP2077 for instance). I also would hate to have to go back to using 3rd party software to undervolt and tune my GPU, as well as losing my beloved Radeon Chill, which helps a great deal in mitigating the lesser power efficiency.

Now they are only a brand company expensive AF😅😅
After experiencing RT in Metro Exodus, I can never go back. Hopefully AMD catches on to nvidia regarding raytracing/ai cores because it is really something else when developers implement raytracing as a core visual element.
In the video the XTX provides a smoother experience (much better 1% lows) than the 4080 in metro Exodus enhanced edition and you're still over 100 fps avg on the XTX
I prefer power limiting my 7900 xtx by 10%, especially since swapping the stock paste for a kyrosheet. Now there's some older games that I can play without the fans ever spinning up because it doesn't go over the 60C threshold.
I undervolted my 4080 super and limited fans on 1325rpm, my PC is out of the room in hallway. And I don't here fans when when I'm playing even with open door to hallway
I OC-ed + UV-ed mine, power limit up to max. Never crosses 50°C, 65 hotspot, no performance loss. Limiting the fps in some titles where high fps doesnt make a difference like BG3 lowers the wattage to insane lvls. Not even sure if the fans spin in that case even..
All influencers don't stress that ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU ACTUALLY PLAY. Most common games, competitive shooters and e-sports, don't give a crap about RT, SS/SR and frame generation/fake frames. Thus, if you want FpS to frag opponents, you go AMD. On top of that, games in which you can add all the above mentioned features are usually SLOW PACED adventures and/or RPGs, thus you can comfortably enable them on an AMD card and enjoy those games. Additionally, a normal person doesn't magnify 100x and slow down 500x to spot marginal differences in image quality. Go AMD, save money, and invest them to buy some other better components. Finally, I still haven't seen Nvidia MCM cards. And don't forget Nvidia secured a better production node at TSMC (that YOU pay).
I did! Went sapphire nitro + xtx > 4090, no regrets, lower latency, higher frame rates, better stability, less heat, less power used, better ai capabilities, better overclocking, better under volting, better software. Worse Linux support, AMD’s one crown

Got one and its still eye candy since day 1. Its the reason I bought a case with a glass panel too for the first time (Fractal torrent grey, fits sooo well)
In most games I slow down my XTX a bit, thus making it use less power. As far as ray tracing is concerned, my guess would be that in a couple years time all present day cards will not be enough and both Nvidia and AMD will get much better ray tracing performance. So buying a 4080 for ray tracing now, may not be a good investment. And FSR vs DLSS, well, for me personally it does not matter because the XTX runs everything I want it to just fine without an upscaler, which is a reason to buy a card like that. So when FSR gets better maybe in the future it will be useful for the XTX, but for now it is kind of irrelevant. Congratulation on the growth of your channel btw. :-)

Waited for years for a worthwhile improvement from Nvidia(gtx 1080) lo and behold found it in Team Reds XTX 7900. Works amazing on my 4k TV + 240hz monitor! From what I have read over the years AMD polishes their cards through driver updates so looking forward to see that monster hardware optimized even further!
Here in Mexico the 7900xtx is insanely cheaper compared to Nvidia chips like the 4070 ti super its the same price for the best amd card, idc about ray tracing tbh and using upscaler methods for comparing a gpu is kinda dumb for me since Native res is king at higher resolutions either upscaler just blurs my games xD thanks for this comparison

If 4080 super had 20 GB of VRAM then it wouldn't have any competition, but taking things as they are right now, 7900 xtx it's the better option for non-RT games, while the 4080 super it's where it shines best.
@@bog2501 You are seeing allocation; not usage (some overlays need to label things better). This has caused a lot of people to have a false belief that they need this much VRAM for gaming. Fabio is correct, it's very likely by the time you need more than 16GB of vram we will all be using different GPU's
You need to get away from Newegg pricing. It's a $100 price difference, not $250. The 4080 Super is $999 at several outlets, just not scammy Newegg. Newegg are kings of scalping GPUs as long as they can. It's pretty sad when even Best Buy has Asus cards in stock for $999 and Newegg is still scalping. This is _exactly_ why I stopped using Newegg for anything years ago. Is it worth it at a $100 difference? I guess that depends on if you care about RT, power consumption, and Nvidia's superior upscaling. Either way both are great cards but still overpriced IMHO.

AMD needs to dial down some watts, I mean when it comes to the RX6000 Series vs RTX3000 series, the 6000 series were sucking less watts and performing the same performance as their counter part, but in this case Nvidia use Uno reverse card here and AMD draws more power on Rx 7000 series against RTX4000 Series 😅
6000 vs 3000 series were using same watts for the same performance ... they were both on the same node 7000 vs 4000 series is a small difference in watts, because AMD is on a 6nm for the packaging and 5nm for the core, so it does an extra 50W (in lower categories) to 100W in higher categories. It's still not double the wattage ... doesn't really matter. You wanna see real power consumption? Look at Arc A770 vs RTX4060. Same performance ~ but 2x Wattage
I’m in a unique situation where I need 2x HDMI 2.1 and AMD (Sapphire) offers that at a much lower price. On the NVIDIA side only ASUS have 2x HDMI 2.1 and not on every model. DP to HDMI converters have some limitations and don’t work that well.
Thanks for your great video. I had seen that's with AMD Radeon FSR 3.1 Was my first I had seen from your Channel. And I must say, this actual Video is the only one I could find in TH-cam. For one comparison with the NVIDIA RTX 4080 Super against the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX. And one direct comparison with the RayTraycing performance, too I must congratulate you for the very good 👍 explanation, in different Games and resolutions.
The OC and SAM gains on the XTX are in some situations game changing lol didnt expect that, Im not the kind of guy to OC my gpu but I might have to take this into consideration for my future purchase thanks for the review
It depends where someone lives I guess, here in CA they are the same price so it becomes a clear choice to choose the 4080 S, I don't think anyone can argue that NVIDIA is better overall.
I liked my 7900xtx raw power, but I found myself wanting more than just raw power as I toggled on RT in more and more games that made a huge difference in visuals which is why I decided to sidestep hope to the 4080 Super. Thankfully I got it for the MSRP $1000 1-day launch. Also, I didn't quite like the high-power draw of the XTX. and with me losing the silicon lottery that didn't help as I then couldn't tame that power draw much in the ways on undervolting without limiting the power limit and losing to much in terms of performance lol. At lease now with the 4080 super my room is a lot more comfortable to game in for a few hours longer temp wise. 😋
What I did with my 4080S is look at the clock speeds it boosts to in Afterburner then try to use the power curve to bring it down as much as possible while staying at the same boost clocks and stability. Then I tweaked up the memory bandwidth to where it was also stable. It keeps a power limit on boost clocks but increases performance.
I'd love an XTX myself but I just can't warrant spending $600+ on a new GPU that doesn't do competent raytracing. It's not 2018 anymore. RT actually matters now. It's not important enough to me that I'd replace a decent GPU for _just_ RT, but when I replace my 3080ti if AMD doesn't step up on it's RT performance I'll be going Nvidia again. I just wish AMD would take it's GPU division as seriously as it does CPUs.
Excellent work as always. However I am confused by the labelling. What does "stock" mean exactly? Does STOCK not also include SAM/ReBar? SAM should be turned on for stock settings but I'm seeing some huge jumps between stock and OC+SAM (ACM, MW2, FH5, etc), jumps which don't exist going between the @3000mhz to the "OC" category. So either the "OC" category has wildly different clocks or SAM was not enabled in stock settings. I would prefer not to have confusing OC tests at all. Since no two GPUs will be stable at the exact same clocks, memory speeds, and voltages these results lack meaning.
Hi @@AncientGameplays , thanks for clarifification. I see a problem with that approach though. Resizable Bar (ReBar, AKA SAM) is enabled by default on most modern motherboards and is utilized by default in AMD drivers. So it seems that is 'stock' for most newer systems. Then we have two categories which are overlocked, and that's not stock. So we don't really have a fully stock configuration here. Which would be stock clocks and SAM enabled. I think it would be best to have stock (with SAM) either added or replacing one of the OC tests.

people saying FSR is junk is people that never used FSR apart from 3 titles and at low res. FSR is inferior, but far from junk (taking off very poor implementations of course). Also, we'll have very soon the first game with FSR 3.1
I was between a 4070 Super and 7900 XTX as it’s only $100 more than the 4070 Super for me… I got the 4070 Super first as I wanted to give it a shot for RT performance. I am honestly very surprised. I am running Battlefield V with RT at 150 FPS and high 1% lows at High settings. If I add DLSS I am over 200 so I run DLAA to sharpen instead at a cost of 30 FPS. It looks lovely. In campaigns I run Frame Gen to get back to 200 FPS with 15ms latency but I get 6ms latency without it in multiplayer… WITH RAY TRACING! And then the big surprise was Cyberpunk 2022. I thought maybe I could run medium with RT on high but definitely not path tracing… I was wrong. I can run path traced RT at high with DLSS and Frame Gen at 90 FPS with 99% lows above 60. It’s actually ridiculously playable. I know so,e people don’t care about RT, I just don’t know why. I think people who feel that way haven’t had enough seat time with an RT experience. Path tracing particularly makes a game like 2077 make sense. It’s so busy graphically that having good lighting and reflections helps the realism immensely.
I’m rocking the 7900xtx and don’t even wanna look back at Nvidia anymore. For the time being as someone who isn’t a big ray tracing fan the xtx is delivering amazing results in both triple a single player games and competitive online games. I play Halo, Valorant, MK1 and League of legends as my main competitive titles and some of my favorite single player games are the souls, Rdr2, Doom eternal, Forbidden West etc… I couldn’t be happier with the performance of this card highly recommend in Europe the xtx the price gap is huge! The 4080super comes about 240€ more expensive than the xtx which is a whole motherboard or an ssd lol😅
I went with a 4080 super, ray tracing is the future, and FSR is way behind DLSS now. I do wish it had more than 16GB of VRAM, but 16GB of VRAM is not at risk of being obsolete even at 4K. Path tracing max Cyberpunk 2077 look so much better, and the reflections are super mind blowing. The 4080 super in the USA only costs a little more, and gives you so much more. If AMD wants to compete this gen they need to drop prices a lot more. The 7900 XTX's power consumption is also pretty concerning, on my rig with a i7-14700f (non K), I only consume a little more than 500watts with my monitor, speakers and computer running cyberpunk 2077. Ada Lovelace is super power efficient
@@AncientGameplays yeah rdna 3's ray tracing performance is definitely better than last gen. At least for path tracing you need frame gen and good upscaling. Unless AMD can do a better job getting devs to use FSR 3 frame gen, then AMD won't be able to do well with path tracing or heavy ray tracing games. For games with light amounts of ray tracing RDNA 3 is fine. But unless the price of the card gets around 700-800$, I don't think AMD is worth it for high end cards, only low end cards this gen they're worth it
I live in an apartment complex that has smart meters for electricity usage. The power collective adds a surcharge if your Kw/hrs. exceed a certain amount. Here in Brazil, the 7900XTX is getting quite a bit cheaper than the 4080 super, but it's still too expensive in my opinion. I'm one of those people who has incredibly unpopular opinions when it comes to graphics cards, and my list of priorites in a GPU are basically reversed from most people here, so when I'm purcashing a GPU, my needs are like this (Upscaling > Ray Tracing > Frame Generation > Rasterization performance). In that scenario, I'm kinda stuck with a 7900XTX that won't really do what I want at all, and will be a waste of money, or an underperforming 4070ti Super vs a 4080 super. It's a lose-lose situation, I guess.
i bought a 4080 last year for the sole reason i wanted to use it for AI, which i use a lot, and AMD was terrible at it at the time. quite honestly, i don't think raytracing is worth it. only game i played with it all the way up was alan wake 2, and i found that game so boring and disappointing that i dropped it 5 hours in and went to play its much superior prequel once again instead. plus the game still looks just as good without it. yeah side by side you'll notice a big difference, but when playing you even forget if you have it on or off
@@AncientGameplays It really is, but it's what I want. I can save a little and get a better GPU, but the 7900XTX just won't cut it for Path Traced Cyberpunk and Path Traced Alan Wake 2. So I'm either saving for a 4070Ti Super or a 4080 Super. Those are my only options. I'm playing at 3440x1440

I spent the extra on the 4080 Super because I wanted better looking DLSS and raytracing as well as lower power consumption overall. I was not looking for 'value' so much in this regard. I also understand that FSR will be getting visual improvements in 3.1 and as it is open to anyone to use it means I can still use it on my 4080 Super in certain scenarios. It's a win win all round even if AMD wins in some games that favour their hardware.
Hey Fabio. First off, thank you. You always respond and show love to your community. Just a quick question. What overlay do you use to record you GPU stats?
I run 2 gaming computers... one in my gaming room and one in my office down stairs... I run both NVIDIA and AMD..once in each...and to be honest... i dont see any difference in game play or graphics..... if u need to RUN BENCHMARKS to see small percentage differences... stop being a fan boi and save the extra money with the Radeon.
Honestly now i'm looking at £50ish difference between the 2 on the low end of the used market i'd rather grab a 4080 with it's dlss and lower power consmption, which should cover that 50 over it's life most likely.
I brought an Asus tuf Rx 7900 xtx oc and love it, friends keep harping on about 4090s but 10% more performance for 50% more cost is just crazy to me 😂😂
It's such a shame that the distributors here in Japan tend to put higher markups on Radeon products. The cheapest 7900XTX currently goes for like only $100 cheaper than the 4080 Super. Hard to pick Radeon cards when the sellers have been sabotaging like this
I have 2 rigs with different purposes. My general gaming rig is set up with the rx6700xt paired w/ Ryzen 5 5600x and my work rig has the 7900GRE paired with a 5800x3d . I appreciate what the 4080 super/ Ti and super Ti are but still miles out of acceptable price range for the gimmicks that will no longer matter if Microsoft actually rolls out the program that has been announced for implementing real ray tracing/ dlss and fsr for all. If I was a streamer with a huge workload I would just suck up the price difference and use the RTX 4080 super (actually I would go for the 4080 Ti Super.) This just is not where majority of pc gamers are or what they need as they would bottleneck themselves for brand instead of intelligently putting that money to a cpu/gpu/psu balance for the best experience in average gaming (1080p and 1440p still.) Nvidia has just become unhinged like the guys at Userbenchmark.
I don't believe MS adding their own raytracing will make any difference since Nvidia utilizes it's hardware to increase RT performance in XeSS and Unreal 5 Luma. I suspect it will do the same with an MS solution unless MS nerf Nvidia RT hardware acceleration.
@@Mopantsu Nvidia RT is a gimmick that is still in it's infancy and poorly implented 3 generations on. The dlss as well unless the user specifically utilises it outside of gaming for specific work as it is also not usable in all games just like RT is not. Brandist will never stop overpaying for a brand name, however it is beyond time to stop giving us superficial accelerators that are neglibile at best and useful in very specific situations and just sell us the hardware we need for what we do at a price that matches performance.
I am at the stage of "looking" for a new GPU. I currently own an RX 6800 XT, I was thinking about an RTX 4070 TI Super 16gb but I think the 4080 Super would be a better choice. Radeon unfortunately discourages me, it takes too much power even after UV it is not a good investment. Electricity is getting more expensive it is already a luxury to have a GPU that takes 100-150W more ! (7900XTX vs 4080S). I'm going back to Nvidia, after so many years. Cheers !
Until ray tracing has such an impact on performance that it will be necessary to use crutches in the form of DLSS and FSR, I don’t need it. I'd rather choose similar raw performance with more video memory (I had a RXT 3070 and I know what I'm talking about) and better components at a lower cost than RTX On. But thanks for the video :)
I just bought MSI RTX 4080 Super Slim. That card is insanely quiet, no coil whine and max temp is 68C. I run some test and in CB2077 ver2.12 built in benchmark 1440p High it scored 148fps avg, 133fps min with 5800x3D and rebar enabled. Havent touched OC/UV yet.
rtx 4080 has alot of sales now iv noticed on prebuilts....prices are dropping. I'll be going with the 4080....I dont have AC in my house, so I'd rather not heat up my room. PLus nvidia is the most well funded company in the world today, the number of software engineers they have vs AMD is leagues apart. DLSS and FG will just keep on improving faster than anything AMD can counter with, its simple numbers. You'll get more in the long run. RTX 4080 will age like fine wine as time goes on, while rx 7900 xtx will stay the way it is for the most part.
Went with the Rtx 4080 super the rx 7900xtx was the exact same price for me. After being on a rog g15 advantage edition laptop 5900x and rx6800m love the new card and even better performance for me since I actually use raytracing in some games😅 and works great with my ultrawide as well. Both of these cards are great but the added data like overclocking is very informative as someone who plans on overclocking it’s shows how much performance is left on the table for either cards great video.
in your previous videos, you actually helped me to go for the 4080 super which i finally got yesterday. i think its just the more modern card compared to the 7900 xtx.
Do you have a 4080S overclock tutorial?i just got the ASUS PROART OC model. Also I have a i5 13600k build and a 7800x3d build, should I leave 7900xtx with x3d CPU and put the 4080S with the i5? Thanks Fabio!!

Yeah, even stores will change (because of models too)
Here, its the same as the OG 4080 which is around $350 to $400 more.

I've had driver issues with most cards I've had, Nvidia and AMD. I've had more ony older Nvidia ones though.

Well i got 7900xtx to play native 4k on max setting, not to use upscale or ray tracing and is doing very good so far.
For real bro. Nvidia leaning on dlss and rt to justify their gouging is crazy
Short terms 4k max textures is better than ray tracing and for that you need vram which 24 gb is very good
@@gamer8622 true, but at the same time it looks like RT and upscaling are becoming the "meta" as we keep going
They keep churning out games that hit certain performance (khm khm the 60 fps reference) ...but with upscaling.
I hope that before the 7900 xtx will be too weak for 4k, AMD will improve FSR enough that I won't have to change the GPU for a long time ;)
@rENEGADE666JEDI the 7900xtx won't be weak in 4k for years to come..its a 4k card...it'll run 4k forever lmao
It’s the power consumption for me. AMD really needs to focus on that for the next gen of cards.

FSR for me.
So you have payed the price of almost middle budget card and think that was worth it? 😂

Not to mention DLSS/DLAA/DL DSR/Frame gen/RTX HDR/Reflex/RTX super resolution(its pretty good actually for 1080P youtube videos upscale to 4k) features.
Performance can't be the same as stock as rhe gpu usually boost to 2700MHz or more, but surely is a great power saving profile
@@AncientGameplays if you oc memory to +1550mhz you will get few % more performance and it will offset slower core boost(2700vs2550mhz is 5% slower) so yeah performance will be pretty much same as stock. I tested it in few gmes.

I also would hate to have to go back to using 3rd party software to undervolt and tune my GPU, as well as losing my beloved Radeon Chill, which helps a great deal in mitigating the lesser power efficiency.
while I also have a 7900xtx, I finally fell in love with this Body Cam game and so far Raytracing is a bare minimum requirement for it :o

@@AMD718 the point is as a general metric, not just metro exodus
I'm rocking 7900xtx, would not go back to nvidia so far tbh

6000 vs 3000 series were using same watts for the same performance ... they were both on the same node
7000 vs 4000 series is a small difference in watts, because AMD is on a 6nm for the packaging and 5nm for the core, so it does an extra 50W (in lower categories) to 100W in higher categories.

Here in germany the price difference ist just 100 bucks, makes no sense to buy the 7900 xtx atm.
A solution to this if you're an over the top enthusiast is to custom loop the entire system!
Stock is full stock, no sam
Hi @@AncientGameplays , thanks for clarifification.
I see a problem with that approach though.
Resizable Bar (ReBar, AKA SAM) is enabled by default on most modern motherboards and is utilized by default in AMD drivers.
So it seems that is 'stock' for most newer systems.
Then we have two categories which are overlocked, and that's not stock.
So we don't really have a fully stock configuration here. Which would be stock clocks and SAM enabled.
I think it would be best to have stock (with SAM) either added or replacing one of the OC tests.
@@NaokiWatanabe Stock settings would be without sam enabled because sam is a feature an add on that some systems enable by default because it's beneficial todo so.

Yes, the 4070 Super is decent in RT as it is close to the 4070Ti as you can run PT IF you run frame gen. As for BF V, ray tracing is super light there

4080 super for better ray tracing
I’m rocking the 7900xtx and don’t even wanna look back at Nvidia anymore.
@@katieadams5860 yes, but amd does ray tracing fairly well, what he doesn't do well is RTX

Hey Fabio. First off, thank you. You always respond and show love to your community. Just a quick question. What overlay do you use to record you GPU stats?
Thanks, its MSI afterburner
I run 2 gaming computers... one in my gaming room and one in my office down stairs... I run both NVIDIA and AMD..once in each...and to be honest... i dont see any difference in game play or graphics..... if u need to RUN BENCHMARKS to see small percentage differences... stop being a fan boi and save the extra money with the Radeon.
Started with 3060 and upgraded to a 4080S from a 6800xt due to amd issues I was experiencing during gaming. No complaints with the 4080 so far
Great to hear, but odd. Never had any breaking issues with my AMD cards
7900xtx because 24gb :)
Honestly now i'm looking at £50ish difference between the 2 on the low end of the used market i'd rather grab a 4080 with it's dlss and lower power consmption, which should cover that 50 over it's life most likely.
My man, i like the way you bench! 💪
Thanks!
You’re the best in the game bro. I hope your opportunities continue to increase
Hard to pick Radeon cards when the sellers have been sabotaging like this
Weird because in my country, Nvidia is pricier. Most budget user will go straight to AMD but rich game will go buy nvidia
for $100 less it is a hard pick unless it is a good model like the Sapphire nitro
If I was a streamer with a huge workload I would just suck up the price difference and use the RTX 4080 super (actually I would go for the 4080 Ti Super.) This just is not where majority of pc gamers are or what they need as they would bottleneck themselves for brand instead of intelligently putting that money to a cpu/gpu/psu balance for the best experience in average gaming (1080p and 1440p still.)
Nvidia has just become unhinged like the guys at Userbenchmark.
Cheers !
Where do you live?
Until ray tracing has such an impact on performance that it will be necessary to use crutches in the form of DLSS and FSR, I don’t need it. I'd rather choose similar raw performance with more video memory (I had a RXT 3070 and I know what I'm talking about) and better components at a lower cost than RTX On. But thanks for the video :)
Thoughts and prayers to all poorly scammed 3070 owners..This GPU is a hit below the belt.
Nice video Fabio! Are you maybe also interested into making a NVIDIA overclocking/UV guide? I liked your AMD guide(s)
I already did some of those, like to for the RTX 3060/3070/4070/4070Ti, so I will do for these as well :D
@@AncientGameplays thanks!
I bet you Jensen will slip In a 4080ti super before the new launch comes out.
in your previous videos, you actually helped me to go for the 4080 super which i finally got yesterday. i think its just the more modern card compared to the 7900 xtx.
Its an amazing card as long as the games arent unsupported by the drivers such as Apex Legends (DX12) or any of the kingdom hearts games.
And don't forget besides gaming the 4080s is the better card for artistic software.
In most scenarios nowadays amd is basically on par, but in others is quite behind
Do you have a 4080S overclock tutorial?i just got the ASUS PROART OC model. Also I have a i5 13600k build and a 7800x3d build, should I leave 7900xtx with x3d CPU and put the 4080S with the i5? Thanks Fabio!!
I believe I do
