@@4doorsmorewhors EA sports WRC looks (at best) same as Dirt Rally 2.0 but it's 5 times more demanding. Seriously, RX 580 can run dr2.0 1080p high 60+ fps all of the time, wrc barely 40 fps average at 1080p low, and it looks like ps3 game. Optimisation is basically performance to graphics ratio.
It's funny when everyone loses their minds over RT. when only 3% of the world really uses it. AMD has been the best choice for gaming for many years. And since the 6000 series, AMD is good for content creation.
Your forgetting about work stations and people that work with editing, AI workflows, research, 3D modeling, and rendering. They wouldn't even bat an eye at amd if they want the best performance for those reasons

Each brand has their upside and downsides. And yet people still fighting that they feel the rightest with their preferences.
@@thesilver7238 you're not wrong but the gap is closing day by day, especially considering the fact that AMD has made it's driver's open source, while Nvidia hired the head of the Linux team that was working on driver compatibility for open source platforms for Nvidia's hardware. Time will tell if that move was as nefarious as a number of people seem to think. however looking at Nvidia's track record which is shady at best i can see why there's speculation. Meanwhile the open source community is free to band together and utilize and improve drivers and ROCm compute efficacy for powerful AMD hardware that outshines Nvidia's raw hardware specs in a number of cases(plz reference the hardware documentation for the 7900XTX vs The 4080 Super (compute units being the most meaningful point of comparison, or translation, to cuda cores)) The tune sung will sound much like a new song altogether, if that gap continues to be bridged at the rate that it is currently.
I hate this year's Nvidia GPU lineup and the company's overall anti-consumer practices, but AMD gotta offer more to be able to compete. In this case, for 60 bucks more I'd still take the 4080 super to have a more efficient card with RT, DLSS and better productivity use cases. Realistically though, both choices seem bad to me. I will skip this year's GPU and wait for the new products from both companies. I hope by that time either NVIDIA will start treating customers like human beings with less egregious pricing in artificially limited cards or AMD will catch up in the software war and provide better value than it does currently.
Unless AMD has an even cheaper price, Nvidia will still sell it more expensive because their R&D costs are huge. Look at DLSS and RT performance, the cost for those two things is not small, and it's worth it. Sadly, many sources say that AMD does not have a product that can compete with Nvidia's high-end GPU in the RTX 5000 generation, even their next most powerful GPU can only compete with the RTX 5070ti. This scenario is really scary, let's imagine that RTX 5060 costs $800 which is terrible.
Sure, but even then 7900 XTX seems like a pretty hard sell at a $1k price tag. The power consumption and lower performance in some scenarios compared to 4080 Super just makes it tough to recommend. And if you are a content creator? Pffft, it's not even a question at that point, especially Blender. $800? $750? I could see it being a viable option, not $1k.
IMO AMD is competitive with Nvidia up to the 7900 GRE level. Especially as at that tier RT just is too hungry to use even the Nvidia equivalent for. For top cards, 4080 or above... Nvidia wins hands down.
@@X_irtz In amazon there are couple of offers, I have been seeing the XFX Speedster MERC310 AMD Radeon RX 7900XTX going low as 620 USD the past 2 weeks
Yes, I think 4080 actually can be better. But I bought 7900xtx with discount for 830 dollars and for the price of 4070ti super it’s definitely better. Plus amd now has CUDA converters (but I don’t care cos I’m not working in blender). There’s no bad GPUs, there’s just bad pricing.
@@X_irtz What people fail to realize is how essential raytracing is becoming. There are quite a few games that run raytracing natively without the option of turning off. The 7900 xtx may have more raw performance, but it's definitely not more optimized.
With the recent drop in pricing, and with more drops probably incoming soon with RX 8000 series a couple months out, been thinking of picking me up a cheap 7900 XTX, can’t beat that rasterized performance.
Im happy with my 4080 none super in 4k. Runs everything smooth ultra 4k and the only difference between a 4090 and 4080 is about 20 to 25 fps. They can keep that extra 25 fps
The super is basically the same card. Actually, if you compare an OC 4080 model to 4080 super reference model they perform within 1% difference, which is just margin of error. The only reason they launched the super was to lower the price and boost the sales with a shiny new SUPER in the name. The only SUPER card that is a real upgrade over the base model is the 4070.
In heavy RT workloads (Alan Wake 2 PT), the 4080S is more than 2x faster than the 7900XTX (24fps vs. 54fps). Nvidia is clearly in a different league when it comes to RT performance.
There are even rumors that their new RT core has 4 times the performance of the current generation, a scenario where even the RTX 5060 can run full RT and still be over 60 fps.
@chien.nguyen. IDK man, I believed in leaks a few years ago, but now I realize most of them are fake. The 4x increase in RT performance sounds too good to be true. I think people would still be happy if the midrange RTX5070 could deliver RTX4090 performance in both raster and RT.
True but the list of games with good rt is at a guess less than 20 and by that I mean looks at ratchet and clank it has rt but it looks worse than global and effectively Half's your FPS because the game was made with global in mind and rt tacked on a good rt game looks and performs better but there's just not that many for my it's just not enough to get my in the green door I want to but the pure rasta power house for the price for me

I think the vram argument loses all meaning at 16gb and above. No way 7900XTX has under 350W. Unless you got the reference model, don't know about those... BUT to even get to 350W, you have to limit the power to -10%, at default Is 390W and on +15% it's 450W. I can't even trust those benchmark's
AMD MBA reference models are indeed 355w. I got one on launch day and it's performing pretty well at that wattage. a good 5% less than what the Nitro+ of a friend ran at with 420w. All RX 7900XTX's also support +15% power limit, even the MBA card included. so you could push 405w through the MBA card still despite it only having 2x 8-pin power, but 355w seems to be the efficiency sweetspot for RX 7900XTX. The FPS seems realistic here from my experience. a 7900XTX on stereoids (so a nitro+ at +15% which is basically 480-500w) will perform closer to a 4090 than to a 4080S. but that's to be expected at that power draw tbf. N31 scales pretty well with power. der8auer did a overclock and the thing could even run at 3.4ghz oc @ 650w just with a regular waterblock mostly stable.
i stay right around 350w running the full Flux.1dev model in comfyUI workflows and i funny think there's anything you can do right now that's more taxing on a GPU than that.

whats your plans on gaming, if you plan on playing fps titles, such a CoD, Overwatch, Valorant, etc. Go for the 7900xtx, it generally beats the 4080 super by quite a lot, on the other hand if you don't like competitive shooters, and want just want to play story games with raytracing go for the 4080 super.
I wouldn’t necessarily consider it “distant”, considering some games can run it pretty well, especially when super optimised for it in a Console. But I do agree, it’s going to be a while before it becomes as “mainstream” as, for example, 4K gaming is now. That was distant only a few years ago. I do think it’s good that we’re pushing for new technology as a community, but I feel as though lighting engines are so good anyway, and with a good developer behind a good game, ray tracing simply makes no real and tangible difference to me. It takes a huge performance hit for not much better visuals.

In general the logic is this: You want RT? you get Nvdia. You play games that dont really use it? You get amd.

Bro in some titles I use radeon chill and set the FPS to 120 and it chills around 350 or less.
My Xfx 7900 xtx pulls 450w easily out of the box. Had to upgrade from an 850watt to a 1000watt
i stay right around 350w running the full Flux.1dev model in comfyUI workflows and i funny think there's anything you can do right now that's more taxing on a GPU than that.

There is literally no reason to pick AMD over Nvidia if the price is the same.
With Nvidia you're losing 5% to 10% raster performance in a few games where AMD cards are favored, but you gain access to DLSS and up to 55% better RT performance.
Let's not forget that with UE5 more than a few games will have some form of RT baked into their lighting system, meaning you can't turn it off completely...that's when you really want an Nvidia card over AMD just for the peace of mind of being able to run them all.
how come there is a 350w air gpu cooler that keeps the gpu around 60c and no 250w air cpu cooler that can keep ip un der 80c :(
Different processors have different heat dissipation characteristics, same cooler may cool radeon gpus better than nvidia regardless of power use.
Gpus have lot larger surface area which increases cooling efficiency. If you want to make you cpu cooler, get some better thermal paste or drop the frequency and voltage

I like AMD and am rocking a XFX Merc Black edition 7900XTX, but what is there to like more about the 7900XTX than the 4090 (except cost)? 4090 has much better RT, same VRAM, DLSS, and much more performance.
