I actually disagree with what most TH-camrs are saying about the coolers. I rather have it be a little over built to keep it cool and quiet while gaming. But that's just my take.
You're not alone. I too prefer extremely quiet graphics cards. Unfortunately I can't get this model because it's too big for my case and I don't want to change my case just for a graphics card so I went with reference.
Where I live, you can’t find a 4080 for less than 1350. I was able to purchase a 7900xtx for 999 on AMDs website. Just be prepared to refresh the website around 9:55 to 10:05 am EST. That’s when they restock. You have about a 30 second Window before they are sold out.
XTX and 4080 should be $800 max. They're literally the next gen 3080 and 6800 XT but you're paying for around 30% better performance for $300-$500 more.
A note on OVERCLOCKING: It takes a lot of effort to dial in the overclocking on high end cards nowadays. You have to undervolt the GPU to stretch out the efficiency curve while slowly bring up the Minimum AND Maximum clocks on AMD GPUs, with trial and error. I had like 2-3% over on my RX 6800 before I started using undervolting, putting in the time and was able eventually to get 8%-11% consistently. I think this is why we are getting different reports on the ASUS TUF 7900XTX OC reviews. Techpowerup seemed to emphasize the undervolt as a necessary part of the overclocking potential, therefore they had good results.
Agreed. GN did a good video on OC'ing RDNA2 a while ago. I used their settings as a starting point for my XFX Merc Black 6900XT, and I get sustained 2560mhz in-game and a nice performance bump. With AMD cards, you have to find the sweet spot for min max clocks, they can't be far apart, only a few hundred megahertz, and leave the VRAM alone and undervolt.
Got the rx 7900xtx at MSRP on launch day in the UK, going from a 1080ti.... yeah the difference is big, very happy with it so far :) need to update the rest of my build next year at some point :')
@Charles M IV Was refreshing the overclockers website just before 2pm and was able to get the powercolor reference card for £1,050 :) Just a lucky boy on the day i guess
Stock lasted 20mins on the OCUK site, not really a case of luck at all, I refreshed the page every couple of mins and watched all stock drop off, but decided to not be spontaneous, waiting to see the partner card reviews come in first, being I build SFF I wanted the biggest cooler for the physical size that will fit my case, unlike the reference card which will always run hotter (as shown in the XTX reviews that dropped on the day), which aren't as well suited to SFF temps wise (as I'm finding with my 3080TI FE).
@@b1gd312 The AMD non-partner cards will run a bit hotter, but if you have adequate cooling and airflow in your case, it'll be fine and non noticeable.
@@charlesmiv3842 Exactly as I said. I have adequate cooling in my case currently, 6x arctic p12's, reference cards will always have worse coolers and smaller heatsinks, something I want to move away from whilst I build SFF
RDNA cards actually gain performance from undervolting. Increase power limit, bump up the gpu and memory clocks a bit, then start lowering the voltage. The card will start to maintain its boost frequencies for longer, as it isn’t bumping against the power limit as much. Apparently people are seeing 10%+ gains of actual in game FPS. Depending on the specific game of course. Benchmarks don’t show much of an improvement at all though.
Since rtx 4080 cost only 100 USD more than 7900XTX here, I don`t see point why wouldn`t you already want go for 4080, it is much cooler, silent and incredibly more efficient with better drivers than 7900XTX
It's a simple choice really, 4090 if you want the best of the best failing that the 4080 if you want Ray tracing performance and the 7900xtx if you don't care much for raytracing
@@martintop2605 exactly snatched a TUF 4080 With like 1420 euros (not cheap) but spoke with a friend of mine and the 7900 will be available around 1300 euros ...so for me those 120 euros for the RT perf and extra features was worth it . i mean MSRP nowadays is a thing of the past tbh
@@Saegan7 good choice mate , as much as i wanted to support amd this time by this prices dont make sense . I get 6800xt 540 Euro in August and is very good card but will upgrade to 4080 bcs im in to simracing (racing games) and Asseto Corsa Competitione its very heavy in VR.
These massive coolers are actually incredible important and very useful since they are able to cool gpu so much ,it is able to stay completely silent even under crazy demanding load compare to previous generation also have No idea why people are so obssesed with cramming such powerful cards and letting them fry in such tiny cases.
Because a mid-tower should be the default in which an average gpu should fit ? I like my full-tower cases as much as the next e-peen-flexing nerd but I can see why not everyone would want one, need one..and god forbid you ever have to move one.
There are definitely needs for big coolers, but companies should consider making smaller coolers as well. If they just simply did that there would be no complaints, like we can still have the full-sized ASUS STRIX but on the side have an ASUS STRIX slim edition. Looks would be the same and can do the same for the TUF and other brands. I think all would be happy then. You get the fat modals if you're into OCing no compromise setups right before water cooling and get the slims for small cases or if they simply just want to run them at stock and be done with the build.
@@Borsecann these kind of people with mid size cases should then stay looking for average older gpus cos these high end gpu are clearly not designed for them
@@forog1 they could but then slimmer versions wold be then much more hotter and louder if they would be forced to do same performance with limited cooling without OC.These with small cases should stick with older gpu and don`t try to fry these high end gpus in them. If they have so muych money to waste on 4080 ,buying new case wouldnýt be that much problem.
@@SonicDestiny You do realize that a mid-tower does not have anything to do with a mid range case right ? Size and quality are 2 separate things. And these gpus not being designed for what most peope use is the entire issue discussed.
Thank you for that video! I have 1440p and 165 Hz monitor with 1KW PSU and ryzen 7900x. RT doesn't really matters to me, so I deffinitly go for radeon rx 7900 xtx :)
I just ordered an MSI 4080 after way too much struggle and back and forth. It largely game down to availability. Going up to a 4090 would have also required a new PSU, so beyond being impossible to find, the cost difference was a bit more for me than most. I was planning on a 7900 XTX with 3 8 pin power adapters, but couldn't find one. The rest of the parts are sitting on a table ready to go together, and I didn't want to spend time indefinitely trying to find a card online, or driving for 5 hours to hope for luck at a microcenter. So early next week I get to finally put a new PC together, and I'm looking forward to it.
I have a 4090 and it's not as much as first communicated, it used less power than the 3090 Ti. If you have a machine running a 3080 curretly I.e. anything 800 watts and over then you do not need a new PSU to run a 4090.
@@dtrjones I'm upgrading from an 8 year old PC with a 980. It caught a nasty case if the bluescreens this spring, and not wanting to play crazy prices for GPUs I tried everything I could to fix it including replacing the PSU. I figured I'd get a new PSU when I built a new machine with the new power connector, but the one I got this spring will support a 4080 so that PSU and some fans are going into the new build. It only has 3 8 pin PCIe cables which is enough for an XTX or 4080,. but not the 4 that the 4090 wants. Even still, I'd pop for the new PSU if I could just buy a 4090. But I want a functioning PC again before break, and I don't want to spend an hour per day indefinitely trying to find a 4090 at MSRP.
Yeah, very similar in Germany. It's actually hilarious how the lesser card (XT) ended up only ~150€ below the lowest priced 4080s on Wednesday or Thursday...
Every available 7900xtx, except the AMD store gamble queue, is more expensive than the available 4080s where I live. If you compare performance per euro even the 4090 looks like a good buy vs 7900xtx.
To give a sense of current pricing: The cheapest available 7900XTX is EUR 1879, the Cheapest 4080 is EUR 1299 and the Cheapest 4090 is EU 2019. Needless to say I'll be buying the 4090.
I'm going AMD this time around. FSR is close enough to DLSS, won't need frame generation to hit my 4k 120hz cap, and ray tracing is still not worth it IMO (after watching numerous comparison videos.)
@@SwingArmCity Ray tracing is nice, problem is it's as you say over-rated and in my personal opinion just a marketing buzzword. It's been a few years too early to be marketed as a feature and only become "important" maybe next generation as more games that use it come out and gpus get powerful enough to use it and be playable without things like dlss/fsr
I got a TUF 4080 OC a couple weeks ago. Yes it's expensive but I sold my 3070Ti for 1/2 the price of the 4080 so the upgrade cost wasn't that bad in my case not to mention availability, good thing the 4080 doesn't sell that well it's relatively easy to find one. If I had to buy the 4080 outright without having sold my other GPU I might have highly considered the 7900XTX, it's too expensive on it's own. I've been using Nvidia cards for over 10 years so I feel more "at home" with Nvidia but this new 7900XTX is no slouch either, you can't go wrong with either card and I'm glad AMD can stick it to Nvidia, competition is always good for us in the end. I'm really happy in the end with my 4080, kinda won at silicon lottery as well, it OCs very nicely almost at 3.1Ghz and my PC holds 1st place in 3dmark Timespy for a 9900k/4080 setup but I don't run it at that speed for everyday tasks/gaming.
@@vladimirdosen6677 I'm using a 12vhpwr 3x8pin adapter from CableMod, works perfectly and clean looking, highly recommend a quality cable and not the crappy adapter the cards ship with. My psu is a Coolermaster M2 Silent Pro 1000w, which is roughly 10 years old.
Lucky you I bought the same card 3 weeks ago and all it did was crash every game I play from the day I got it. Took it back today for a 7900 xt because I got tired of waiting for more stock and I’ve had zero issues and have the same performance and got 600 bucks back. But when the 4080 was working games didn’t see past 55c because the fact it’s an overpriced GPU and they used the same cooler as the 4090.
if you can show the render latency in the overlay in future videos we could get a clearer indication of how responsive it feels in game, usually 2-4 ms is awesome latency, great video as always!
Been watching a guy called BenchmarkBoy, he's got a top end rig with the 7900xtx, 13900k His UHD latency on BF1/Fortnite was between 4-7 RT latency was about 13-15 iirc
@@blondemonk7860 No idea: I've never seen a 4080's input lag statistics from a source I trust I can tell you based off Optimum Tech's "The Lowest Input Lag PC Spec", that it's likely somewhere between 5.3 (4090) and 8.9 (4070ti)
I got an XTX the morning it was released and it's been nothing but problems from the get go. It's all been caused by drivers. On the first day, there was no driver and the one that Adrenalin installed was unstable. Then the real one came out the next day. Guess what happened after I installed it? My computer wouldn't boot any more. I did a clean install and it seemed fine... until it wasn't . I've just about had it and am considering purchasing a 4080.
Likewise i bought amd xtx reference card and was not impressed with the speed and the noise levels. Also AMD drivers seem to have a lot of bloatware. I sent it back and got an Nvidia rtx 4080 for around £150 more and well worth it. Nvidia card just felt like quality product. Works perfect with no messing or beta testing drivers and option of just driver installatiion. Plus its super super quiet.
I ended up getting an ASRock RX 7900 XTX Phantom Gaming OC and yeah, it's a beast (but I have a Server/Supertower case so I don't care). It was an open-box from Newegg for the equivalent of £686. This card is a real stunner and it performs like mad. It has THREE PCI-Express supplementary power connectors so if I ever want to overclock it, there we go. I know better than to buy nVidia and become a part of the problem.
Bf2042 was on tested with 55 fov which is extremely low , most people are on 90 and above on pc , it does impact performance as higher fov means more is rendered on screen.
Team red all the way. I have had nothing but team green gpu sincei had a 980 but no more their pricing anymore is absolutely ludicrous and I want be taken advantage of them.
I'm leaning towards the 7900 XTX simply because there are almost no options on the Nvidia side that would fit in my SFF build. With the 7900 XTX, there are at least a handful that do. And that is enough to sway me towards team red.
in my case the price as well as the performance are what are attracting me . was originally going to go with an 4070ti with my i5-12600k build but the 7900 XTX should be more then fine for it
Also, I have now watched about 12 reviewers on the 4080 vs the 7900xtx, the reviewers all mention price but not one mentioned there is 24gb on the xtx and 16gb on the 4080......
Hello there, i am between 4080 and 7900 xtx. I love story mode games and planning to play games on 2k oled monitor. Do you think in ultra settings with ray tracing enabled. 7900 xtx can sport any game with playable fps? I mean considering 16gb probably won't be enough in 2 years 4080 seems to be a bad investment to me ngl
What I love is that there is competition. There is not only 1 market. 1. So they wont be able to take time to release a new version 2. If there was only one market, they would set there own prices without worrying people would consider other stuffs
The only thing I notice about ray tracing is everything looks wet like it just stopped raining. Idk maybe it's just me but exaggerated wet reflections do nothing for me but lower fps.
I lost my Tuf 4090 OC to a glass of water. Couldn’t afford another 4090 so I got the Tuf 7900xtx because of the 384 bit bus. Need a card to power my Reverb G2. Tried the 4070 ti, lol! 192 memory bus was a joke trying to run Assetto Corsa through my Reverb G2. Hoping for the best.
Have 7900xtx, all current games + Red Dead Redemption 2/Witcher 3, Shadow of War, Call of Duty, Total War Warhammer 3 ultra all on and smoooooth. Can’t complain.
if u only play non demanding multiplayer games just go for the 6800xt and put everything to low and save half the money. If u paying big money for a gpu u obviously want the nextgen tech and raytracing will be in every new game that is released nowdays.
I'm not sure why reviewers aren't comparing encoding and content creation features. AMD has touted the smart access and AV1 encoding. I need to see that vs. Nvidia.
I got a 7900XTX in the hope that they will make up some of the gap on RT with driver updates/FSR 3 and also because Jensen was just too greedy with the 4080. I don't know whether anyone else is having driver timeout crashes playing The Witcher with RT on but hopefully it will all get sorted out soon.
Idk man, buying a GPU in the hopes of unreleased features and driver updates is so low The cost per frame of the 4080 and 7900xtx are extremely similar, the extra 20% for Nvidia is easily justified for the better RT and DLSS without the rest of the advantages Both horrible value imo
Bro first of all fsr is not good enuf. Im expecting fsr frame gen to be not that good either n we dont even know when it’s going to come out. The rt performance is also meh. Everyone is having stuttering in witcher unless u have 4080 n 4090. I didnt encounter any crash on my 4090 but i have heard 3000 se n 6000 se users having such issues. So it’s mostly due to cdpr. But i dont think u can even turn rt on in witcher with that card. I think if 7900xtx didnt release the card, nvidia wud have been forced to drop the price. But after amds release ppl are going in numbers to buy the 4080.
I have had driver timeout issues on the 6800xt for the last year or so, so dont hold your breath on it getting fixed soon. Such a shame as it runs so well when it works properly
@@anuzahyder7185 FSR 2.0 is good enough. And everyone is having issues with the next gen w3 update. Many have reported it crashing and stuttering on even 4090s.
The amount of power draw really disappointed me with AMD because I was so on point to buy the XTX but I just bit the bullet and went with Nvidia's reliability + features.
If GPU developers use more heat pipes and brought the radiator fins closer together they could make a smaller and more compact GPU with cool thermals. As a CPU cooler the Noctua NH-U12A does exactly this and is Noctua's most heat efficient cooler. You are better off with more fins than longer fins, unless you make the significantly longer, but then you are left with something overly bulky and not well put together.
We're 9 months later, so drivers may play a role. But I picked up this card for 900 euros refurbished and with cashback vs 1400 euros for a 4080. Got lucky in the silicon lottery and overclocked properly (it's not hard, just gotta trial and error a lot) and getting a 5-15% fps increase.
If you just play games, nothing else, and if you just want speed without the best visual effects, and if you are planning to buy another graphics card in two to three years the 7900 might save you a few dollars. If you want to use your computer for productivity and creative purposes, if you want to enjoy the most immersive atmosphere (raytracing and DLSS), if you do not want to have to upgrade later because more and more titles come out with raytracing (some possibly required) then you might want to shell out a few more dollars/pounds now.
hi! i'm actually on the fence between these two. i'll be using them for work (architectural renderings and other 3d stuff), and of course gaming. is the 4080 still better despite having less vram? also, if ever i'm on a budget, will the 4070ti be worth it?
Correct me if i am wrong, but i think they took that big chunk of a cooler from Nvidia card and slapped it on AMD card cuz manufacturers are lazy to make custom ones for AMD cards.
Anybody who knows a lot about AMD GPU's. do the work capabilities of AMD cards compare well with the Nvidia equivalent? Even without the CUDA cores in AMD, does AMD still work well in a non-gaming environment. Also, a lot of games that I play support DLSS but not FSR. Can playing games without FSR on a 7900xtx compare to playing games on an Nvidia card with DLSS on? Thanks!
I'm on my Ryzen 3900X still, ordered a 7900 XTX and power supply as i fear my trusty 650 Watts Bequiet Dark Pro 12 will not cut it ;). I will see what AMD announces at CES if and when X3D versions of the Ryzen 7000 CPUs will be released and then see if i upgrade CPU Mainboard and RAM too.
im building in the nr200p max and the tuf cards are just way to big for me to fit in so i went for the hellhound thats msrp and has good cooling for the size these tuf cards are clearly overkill. and are for atx and e atx build. i went for 7900xtx because of the vram price point and rasterization preformance. due to how amd build their driver i can see the 7900xtx being very valuable couple years down the line. im pearing it with a 7800x3d and on a b650e-1 asus mobo with pcie gen 5.0 slot and for ram gonna run 64gb 6000mhz cl30 in expo and nvme 5.0 ssd with 8/9gb speeds
I was wondering if you could try to overclock the rx 7900 xtx Asus tuff model and re run those tests. Tech power up were able to reach 3.2 ghz stable clock on it and saw an improvement of around 15% in cyberpunk. I would really be curious about the result, thank you!
I'm getting an XFX XTX in a week or so and have full intentions of testing a max overclock on it. I'll check out Techpowerups video as you say they had crazy gains.
@@Beefy-Tech It's pretty simple, they raise power to the limit ( which is 20% more ), then they lower the voltage 1% at a time and when they run into issues, they bump it back up a little bit. By having less voltage, the cards higher the clocks. it's really simple, you can do it with Radeon software and MSI after burner
Apparently they are adding their own version of frame generation in a few months.. now will it be as good as dlss 3? Most likely not.. and fsr2 is almost as good as dlss 2 so i mean ur paying less for almost the same which isent necessarily bad.. but if u want to spend $1200+ for the 4080/4090 i respect the power u got but i honestly think that these companies should learn that higher gpu prices should not stand. I mean whenever i finish college and get a decently good job (cyber security) i will prob drop $4000-$5000 on a build, but that might be around when the RTX5000 series/RTX6000 series coming out
I think you made the smarter choice . Both cards are extremely overpriced. The 4080 jumped from the 699$ for the 3080 to 1200$ And the 7900xtx , considering it is in the same tier as the 4080 , with pretty much the same performance, it is really a 7800xt Wich was 640$ for the 6800xt. So it’s also very overpriced. Let’s be honest , at 1000$ you are past the price-performance territory. You are in the “I want the best” territory. And personally, considering how many raytraced games are coming , paying 1000 wich in reality will be around 1200$ because msrp is nowhere to be seen . And having to see your card get wrecked when activating Raytracing. Is annoying As for dlss3 AMD hasn’t said anything but that fsr should come next year. No date , no info. That’s bullshit They also said that the 7900xtx was going to be from 50% to 70% faster than the 6950xt And it ended up being like 35% So … so much for blindly believing them then…
And according to the benchmarks: the 7900 xt is the GOLD STANDARD for mid tier set ups right now. You're not spending over $1k USD on a graphics card and most monitors @ 4k 144hz do not need over 150 frames. The price per frame compared to the RDNA 2 cards is only £.50 more and that's a steal in this current market. Most non competitive, non content creators should jump on that card if they have the money. Your 12400f will play those games around those fps no problem too!
I really do like these reviews on graphics cards because I'm pretty close to pulling all things together to start my build. My question is, have you ever considered getting an Nvidia card directly from Nvidia? They actually seem to have the best price; especially when it comes to the 3090ti and 4080.
I recently tried to get one directly from ASUS and it was a nightmare lmao. Hopefully NVIDIA isn't as bad. (I had 5 orders get cancelled on me during processing) I eventually decided to go through Amazon/Newegg. Got super lucky and found the OC TUF 7900xtx at retail being sold by Amazon!!!
@@Unbreakable245 Actually buy from NVidia? I guess so, it was on their site for purchase when I was looking. I ended up with a 4080 FE from Best Buy in the end.
I bought my 4070 FE directly from Nvidia. I have to confess though that lately I've been using an AMD GPU and I'm very happy with it. Really thinking seriously about picking up the 7900XTX because it seems to be beating the 4080 in a lot of benchmarks.
Cheapest RX 7900 xtx was £1050..I just got a RTX 4080 the other day for £1150. If the 7900 xtx was £250 cheaper I would I have atleast considered it. An extra 100 pounds for a much better stable card overall..much better Ray tracing (nice to have) can use both DLSS & FSR..some games don't have both options (best of both worlds) frame generation is really good for single player games too The worst thing for AMD is drivers the vega 56 and 5700 xt I had where solid performing cards but the drivers where absolutely awful..take too long to mention all the issues I encountered. My first nvidia GPU was a rtx 3080 in 2020..even day one I had zero issues ..with the 5700 xt I had issues with 6+ month's
Vega 56 and 5700 xt drivers were hit or miss.. already used to have GTX 1060 & GTX 1080 cards.. I jumped to RX 6800 in 2020, & sold it & got RX 6800XT in 2021 & it's super stable for me since 2020 to this day The cheery on top is that both 6800 & 6800XT OC well & I got around 8% fps boost (from 2200MHz to 2500MHz) Nvidia cards are good choice, but they charge like 20% more for same performance (raw power) that's why I skipped them 20% is not big deal.. but when we talk about like $1000 , then yeah it's a big of a deal ($1000 Vs $1200)
Those benchmark results try to compare Reference 4080 with AIB 7900xtx or Reference 4080 vs Reference 7900xtx? It would be nice to see Benchmarks of RoG Strix 4080 vs TUF 7900xtx.
I just returned a 7900 XT in favor of a 4080, but if the 7900 XTX was realistically available, I'd probably have gotten one. The 7900 XT seems like a very bad deal, even worse value than the 4080, somehow. I paid about $200 USD more for the 4080 than the 7900 XT.
In Japan, the difference in price between the cheapest 4080 and the cheapest 7900XTX is 120 pounds. At that point, the 4080 is an easy choice over the 7900XTX. But I'll be buying neither because my 3080 12 GB is still enough for 1440p high refresh.
just for the apex bit: you dont need a 7900xtx to run at 1440p 300fps. I was testing my new cpu and old gpu (7950x3d + 2070s) and hit those numbers. albeit, gpu maxed out. cpu was hitting a measly 10% usage. a 3060 + decent midrange cpu will hit 300fps @ 1440p easily. just some info for anyone that may be upgrading soon.
Rastersation multiplayer is my main thing these days. Mainly PUBG tbh. A little Doom Eternal, which looks great without RT anyway. I prefer more frames-per-second than fancy lighting. I just want a card that can fill the frame buffer of my 3440x1440 monitor so I don't see any dips and it's buttery smooth the whole time. Still weighing up if I want to go AMD this time or atick with NVidia. Anything is an upgrade compared to my 1060 6gb ...
As everyone is saying, it comes down to ray tracing for platform gamers like myself; if your multiplayer AMD is the best option because you will be running games at 1440 to get over 120fps that you will want, and raytracing is not a good option. For platform games, there really are only a handful of games that have it, but that is increasing with games like Witcher 3 that are coming out soon. AMD can pull it off, but not like the 4080 and the 4090 beast which sells for no less that $2,000 from what I’ve seen! Given how this card will not be beat for at least a year, I’m Thinking the price will not go down let alone below MSRP making this card not worth the cost for anyone who doesn’t have over 2,000 to shell out for a GPU. Right now xfx is selling the 7090xt for $899, which is surprising for a new GPU considering everything else is selling a good $200 over msrp! Problem is I still cannot find the 7900xtx right now, so I am wondering if that card will come down to its msrp of $999, and if so that would make buying the 7900xt a bad buy; but if it doesn’t, then the 7900xt could be a great option for the lowest cost new high end GPU! The 4080 I do think will drop down from 1,400 to the MSRP of 1,200, but will it drop lower……
The majority of games i play are from 2008-14 so don't use ray tracing. I also do a spot of VR sim racing, would the AMD card be a better shout then? I'm going to be getting more memory and 13th gen 7 series k (if that helps with the answer)...
I have a ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 12GB GDDR6X PCI Express 4.0 Video Card ROG-STRIX-RTX3080-O12G-GAMING would the XTX be better in terms of editing pictures and Videos at 4k?
Got the 4080 for the same price. Glad I went that route. I took a gamble, but read the "tea leaves" and had the 7900XTX truly beat the 4080, AMD would have been marketing it that way.

Do you think 32gb ddr4 3600mhz and 5900x is good enough for 4k with the 7900xtx? Or is the extra 650$ worth it for the 7700x and ddr5 6200mhz and new motherboard
Purely for gaming, it's largely moot. At this moment, if you've got an AM4 motherboard, get the 5800X3D and drop it in. If not? Get the better bargain. 13th gen Intel outperforms Zen4 in pure multithreaded workloads. Downside is that's the end of the line for the Intel socket. Next year the X3D versions of Zen4 will arrive, which will (again, for gaming) likely stomp all over 13th gen. If you can wait three-six months? Probably worth doing.
If you care about Raytracing and DLSS, go with RTX. If you value raw performance and a good amount of VRAM. Go with AMD… And before you write off AMD, just remember that it will have a huge FSR update in spring 2024💯
If these manufacturers are gonna start making cards the size of cinder blocks, they should all come with a GPU brace or support stand. I figure they owe us for charging us these obscene amount of money.
In Romania 7900 XTX is as the same price as RTX 4080, more than 1460 EUR including VAT of 19%. Let's all "celebrate" that both AMD and Nvidia raised the GPU '80 class cards by 300 USD. Nvdia is greedy and AMD fallow the same path. RTX 4080 12 GB should be 4060 Ti and 7900XT should be 7800 XT. Here is not about fanboys is about corporations that want more money. From now '80 class cards becomes a luxury as '90 class cards.
Nvidia needs to put the price down on the 4080 or people will auto choose the 7900xtx I personally don’t care about RT and dlss performance. I do like the NVENC encoder on the Rtx cards but amd amf encoder is looking really good already . If prices doesn’t drop on 4080 I will be going all team red

@@FeartheBoxes will definitely do!
I just got a 4080. I would go for the 7900 XTX if it has more features like dlss and frame generetion
I mean whenever i finish college and get a decently good job (cyber security) i will prob drop $4000-$5000 on a build, but that might be around when the RTX5000 series/RTX6000 series coming out
How much are they?
I wanted a xtx but couldn’t find it anywhere so I just got the 4080 instead😊
I think you made the smarter choice .
Both cards are extremely overpriced.
The 4080 jumped from the 699$ for the 3080 to 1200$
And the 7900xtx , considering it is in the same tier as the 4080 , with pretty much the same performance, it is really a 7800xt
Wich was 640$ for the 6800xt.
Is annoying
As for dlss3 AMD hasn’t said anything but that fsr should come next year.
No date , no info.
That’s bullshit
They also said that the 7900xtx was going to be from 50% to 70% faster than the 6950xt
And it ended up being like 35%
So … so much for blindly believing them then…
I would never buy 4080 if it was 150 bucks or more, more than the XTX
Can you actually?
@@Unbreakable245 Actually buy from NVidia? I guess so, it was on their site for purchase when I was looking. I ended up with a 4080 FE from Best Buy in the end.
I bought my 4070 FE directly from Nvidia. I have to confess though that lately I've been using an AMD GPU and I'm very happy with it. Really thinking seriously about picking up the 7900XTX because it seems to be beating the 4080 in a lot of benchmarks.
WHY FSR 1.0 IF 2.1 CAN USE IN CP2077?
Cheapest RX 7900 xtx was £1050..I just got a RTX 4080 the other day for £1150. If the 7900 xtx was £250 cheaper I would I have atleast considered it.
An extra 100 pounds for a much better stable card overall..much better Ray tracing (nice to have) can use both DLSS & FSR..some games don't have both options (best of both worlds) frame generation is really good for single player games too
The worst thing for AMD is drivers the vega 56 and 5700 xt I had where solid performing cards but the drivers where absolutely awful..take too long to mention all the issues I encountered.
I jumped to RX 6800 in 2020, & sold it & got RX 6800XT in 2021 & it's super stable for me since 2020 to this day
The cheery on top is that both 6800 & 6800XT OC well & I got around 8% fps boost (from 2200MHz to 2500MHz)
Nvidia cards are good choice, but they charge like 20% more for same performance (raw power) that's why I skipped them
20% is not big deal.. but when we talk about like $1000 , then yeah it's a big of a deal ($1000 Vs $1200)
Great video. Being able to buy a higher end card without the ethical issues and price gouging from NVidia is a win in my book.
Those benchmark results try to compare Reference 4080 with AIB 7900xtx or Reference 4080 vs Reference 7900xtx?
It would be nice to see Benchmarks of RoG Strix 4080 vs TUF 7900xtx.
what gpu card would you recommend for MSFS2020 in VR, 7900XTX or 4080 SUPER? Thank you! :D
V sync fixes coil whine, in mw adjust your max menu fps to fix :)
7:10 you sure that's Battlefield V?
Fixed, thanks
Raster performance, which year is it? For me ray tracing performance is deciding factor

I have a asus 1440p 240hz g sync monitor which is better for my monitor rx 7900xtx or rtx 4080
Did you just try to oc while in game?? Aren't you supposed to restart the game?
In Japan, the difference in price between the cheapest 4080 and the cheapest 7900XTX is 120 pounds. At that point, the 4080 is an easy choice over the 7900XTX. But I'll be buying neither because my 3080 12 GB is still enough for 1440p high refresh.
Witcher3 RTX on FPS off.
The price difference was literally 500 euros where I live
4080 is slow compared to 7900xtx , thats why in europe 7900xtx is out of stock plus 250euros different in price is huge
just for the apex bit: you dont need a 7900xtx to run at 1440p 300fps.
Great vid 🙂
Still no Runescape 3 benchmarks. Jagex must have told PC Centric to hold it till the 4090ti release.
What kind of case is that? O11 dynamic?
Great video, but can you pls tell us if they stutters like all rx 6000 series!!!!!!!, Thxs.
RTX is the future. Look how big of a deal it is when RTX came to witcher 3 and portal lol for a $1000 card you better be having these features.
Got the 4080 for the same price. Glad I went that route.
I took a gamble, but read the "tea leaves" and had the 7900XTX truly beat the 4080, AMD would have been marketing it that way.
Its basically a 4080 equivelent and that's what AMD IS marketing as. But it's really what works for you
@@spacemoon56 a month earlier, same price, better ray tracing, better drivers/support, better power efficiency... Yeah, it'll work for me.
@@SticksUWP best of all, you can enjoy new games with all the graphic candies, instead of going everywhere saying RT is gimmick, like we see everywhere :D
Would it make sense to go with a rtx 4080 if for some weird reason they both cost the same in my country?
16:26 yes
Red Team, better performance better price,(the only issue i have is the drivers only)after many years Green Team, its time to chance.
my 6800 non xt will do me @ 1440p for a while longer, good review
Do you think 32gb ddr4 3600mhz and 5900x is good enough for 4k with the 7900xtx? Or is the extra 650$ worth it for the 7700x and ddr5 6200mhz and new motherboard
Yeah should be fine. Monitor refresh rate and types of games you play matters also, but performance increase for $700 is not worth it
should i pair the amd rx7900xtx with intel or amd cpu? purely for gaming. which gives better performance?
Purely for gaming, it's largely moot. At this moment, if you've got an AM4 motherboard, get the 5800X3D and drop it in. If not? Get the better bargain. 13th gen Intel outperforms Zen4 in pure multithreaded workloads. Downside is that's the end of the line for the Intel socket. Next year the X3D versions of Zen4 will arrive, which will (again, for gaming) likely stomp all over 13th gen. If you can wait three-six months? Probably worth doing.
Scalpers already selling the XTX on eBay for 2300€ 😂
At that price point I rather go for the 4090
FRRRRR
What cpu was used ?
I don't know if anyone has ever told you this but you're like a UK Steve from American Dad, love your videos man👍
What Should You Buy? neither of the last gen GPUs
If you care about Raytracing and DLSS, go with RTX. If you value raw performance and a good amount of VRAM. Go with AMD…
And before you write off AMD, just remember that it will have a huge FSR update in spring 2024💯
does anyone know where to buy the asus tuf 7900xtx ? I've been looking for the model but I can't find it anywhere,.
Nvidia doesn't need to do anything, people are going to buy Nvidia regardless.
