Yes the first 6-7 months was a challenge and her son caused most issues, but after a year we worked out those issues. The most important thing is both have to be good truthful people. From my experience as a russian girl, I understood that dating foreigners (for me personally) may seem nice at the moment but after going different ways you start understanding that you had a lot of things about each other that you just couldn’t grasp at the level of being with the person who knows your first language (and by that I mean NOT just knows but grows up speaking that language) and is related to your culture (you just kind of understand each other better that way) Even the phrase “I love you” in english (though I know english very well) doesn’t give me such emotions as the same phrase but in russian. And russian language,in general, it’s like I can express my love for the other person fully and truly emotionally only through russian, not other languages. Of course everything can change but it’s like this for me at the moment :)

I am a multilingual American native speaker of English and am around others like me all the time, and I always say this to my closer friends who never seem to want to date or marry native speakers of English: if you have never been with someone you share a NATIVE language with, you won't ever realize just how much you're missing. Well, well, I am French working in Poland... I've met some Russian ladies there, but would I date a Russian woman ? It depends... it is generality, I know there are exception, but slavic women are very introvert, not talkative like a Latin women. For me it is very important, a woman is dynamic, has passion, shows you what she like, or where she loves to go.
I thought men consider women who are talkative or talk about their desires and preferences as a burden. that is why for example in my country I stopped being communicative with men. they get very uncomfortable when women are showing interest. and I have been told I should behave as if I am not interested and wait for the guy to decide whether he wants to approach. and even after that any "wrong" move from me would scare him and push him away. maybe that is why women in certain areas are the way they are (reserved, introverted, super passive and exhausted by the myriad of requirements from society on how to behave with opposite sex). but I am not from Russia. I am from a neighbour country. I would really want to be myself with men, be open, talkative, make jokes, not be repressed. but if I would try that in a minute I would be judged, criticized and shamed. and devalued by men. and it's very painful. it changed me. one thing is when they say okay, this is just insecure type of men, problem is in them, find normal ones. but when this kind of behaviour is cultural and is a norm for the country it's devastating. whole dating and personal life is screwed. it's full of fakeness and pretentiousness. and hidden meanings. it's really a catastrophe. I took 2 years of Spanish in high school and remember maybe a handful of words and phrases. There's no way I couldn't actually have any sort of a smooth conversation with someone who only knows Spanish.
You would be surprised how fast you would learn spanish if you dated a hispanic girl you liked.

Well, well, I am French working in Poland... I've met some Russian ladies there, but would I date a Russian woman ? It depends... it is generality, I know there are exception, but slavic women are very introvert, not talkative like a Latin women.
For me it is very important, a woman is dynamic, has passion, shows you what she like, or where she loves to go.
I thought men consider women who are talkative or talk about their desires and preferences as a burden. that is why for example in my country I stopped being communicative with men. they get very uncomfortable when women are showing interest. and I have been told I should behave as if I am not interested and wait for the guy to decide whether he wants to approach. and even after that any "wrong" move from me would scare him and push him away. maybe that is why women in certain areas are the way they are (reserved, introverted, super passive and exhausted by the myriad of requirements from society on how to behave with opposite sex). but I am not from Russia. I am from a neighbour country. I would really want to be myself with men, be open, talkative, make jokes, not be repressed. but if I would try that in a minute I would be judged, criticized and shamed. and devalued by men. and it's very painful. it changed me. one thing is when they say okay, this is just insecure type of men, problem is in them, find normal ones. but when this kind of behaviour is cultural and is a norm for the country it's devastating. whole dating and personal life is screwed. it's full of fakeness and pretentiousness. and hidden meanings. it's really a catastrophe.
