Thanks a lot for checking out the video, I'm really nostalgic about WipeOut myself. In an old Reddit thread people complained about the same issue you describe. It was speculated that the game was removed because of licensing issues with the music. Some of the solutions listed were: 1. Look for the game on a console rather than a computer. (This might be what you already did yourself). 2. If it says "Not available for purchase", click the "more" option and the option to purchase the game might appear. 3. In the "PS Plus" tab, see if the game is listed among the games available on the Premium Tier. Then subscribe to the Premium Tier (if you deem it's worth it). I hope one of these options will resolve the issue. You are more than welcome to reply again and tell me how things went, it's useful information for me.
Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it. I tried the above but with no luck. What ended up working in the end was buying a physical copy of the game for PS4 which worked on my PS5. @@AGRacingCentral I played Wipeout in 3rd Person view all my life and expected my times to take a hit in 1st person in VR, but it was so intuitive that my times even slightly improved. Best VR game next to Beat Saber in my opinion.
@AGRacingCentral I've been playing 2. It's difficult, and it took me forever to master Wipeout because of these tutorial videos. I can't find a whole lot for Redout 2
The biggest Achilles heal of the Omega collection is the PS4. PS4 doesn't allow you to load your own music like the PS3 did. I think you need to have them on a separate flash drive and have it play in the background over the menu music. Back in Wipeout HD/Fury, it was so awesome having my own music play seamlessly in Wipeout and have it echo when I go through a tunnel. Apart from that, its darn near perfect. Visually stunning in 4k and fun if you have a VR headset.
I actually didn't know about the music thing, very well worth noting. I agree with the rest of what you said to, it's such a timeless awesome racing game! It's looks and plays really well on the oldest PS4-models too. I haven't had the opportunity to play it in VR but I am very tempted :)
@@AGRacingCentral Wipeout isn't the same without it's classic soundtrack. Since HD/Fury is pretty much Pulse/Pure, its understandable that they couldn't get the license agreements to use the old music on the Omega Collection. The soundtrack they have on the Omega collection is fine, but you can't bet the nostalgia of the early 2000s with what they had on Pulse and Pure. Playing those old soundtracks help bring you back to the days of playing on a PSP 😋. With the new PS VR out, I'm sure you can snag the first generation on the used market for a decent price. I should have a couple videos on my channel without any assists.
This game is awesome. This was one of the first PS4 games I ever got over 2 1/2yrs ago, I’m not good at it but it’s fun and I didn’t even know that Studio Liverpool closed 11yrs ago. We need more fun racing games and less simulation mess. 😤
I completely agree that we need a new Wipeout game! Glad to hear you like Omega Collection, I think it's a timeless classic that can be approached very casually or in a super serious manner. Thanks a lot for your comment!
Not entirely sure how Wipeout and the anime you mentioned relates to each other but regardless, I agree with you. Wipeout Omega Collection is awesome! :)
I have this game and I love it a lot! Im just sad that there is no one to play with. We have Distance & Redout with active community racing everyday but for Wipeout I had 0 sucess of finding people to play with. Still an amazing game.
Hadn't heard about Distance, that game looked really cool! I've heard that the Redout community arrange races even though it can be a little tough to find opponents through random matchmaking. I usually find at least a few lobbies on a regular basis in WipEout Omega Collection though. It might depend on where you live and what time you play of course. I will try to arrange more community races for the game in the future though where you are more than welcome. Thanks for the comment!
PS really dropped the ball with wipeout. When i was a kid and ps2 came out, wipeout was one of those games that acted like a benchmark for what sony currently offered in terms of graphics, sound and physics. They stopped making games that served the purpose of representing sony and i think that was a terrible decision. Wipeout could be huge today if it had a FTP model, tournament competition, 4k/120fps with an emphasis on representing ps5 as a platform
I think you're right. Maybe Sony diverted all their resources to their other profitable IP's. I also remember when Wipeout games were more or less a tech demo for a new PlayStation console! Hopefully we'll see a new game at some point, I'd say that the IP is strong enough. Thank you for your comment!
It sure is! Still played online by people too which is a bit remarkable since the game has no ranking system with rewards to speak of nor dedicated servers. Thank you for commenting!
I've been obsessed with this game since stumbling upon it during the time I had PS Plus to get exposed to new franchises I otherwise wouldn't have tried. I play almost exclusively on PC now but sometimes I dust off my PS4 just for this game. I was trying to see if there was a way to play on PC
I completely agree that this game is worth keeping a PS4 around for. A PC port with cross play would also be amazing, it would introduce Wipeout to a completely new audience. We'll have to keep our fingers crossed :)
Wipeout's one of my favorite racing games of all time. There's just nothing else like it to this day. There's been imitators but they're just not as good
I am inclined to agree :) I would say that some of the games that were inspired by WipEout are worth playing for sure, but like you, I think than none of them are on the same level.
I didn't realise this existed, and assumed it stopped at Wipeout HD Fury. Big reason to get a PS5, but what is the online racing like? I bet there are still races to be had.
How awesome I could help you discover the game! Wipeout Omega Collection is also playable on PS4 and flows really well on the older consoles as well. The game has no matchmaking system for online racing but there are player created lobbies available most nights (European time). It's quite remarkable for such an old game without any online progression system either :)
@@AGRacingCentral I played on the PS3 around 2013 time, but fell out with my real-life friend that I raced with online, and then ended up selling the PS3 to get into PC gaming. I miss it. I will look into getting a PS4/5, as being a huge fan of the 1st wipeout back on the PS1, it would be criminal not to play the latest Wipeout (never too old!). I can see much of it is still the same as HD Fury, but lots of new tracks, which will keep it fun.
I can't say for sure but it's possible that some tracks have been recycled as well as all the teams from Pure with approximately the same stats and looks. If you like Pure, you should really check out Pulse! It's got the same gameplay but with a campaign grid that is a much more fun way to play solo.
@AGRacingCentral I've recognized some tracks from pure in the collection, so that's why I asked. Thanks. I'd like to check out pulse but both my psps don't work, lol.

@@AGRacingCentral Nah, I just used to work with a graphic designer who was Swedish and my boss would say this in a ridiculous accent for fun. It's never left me since. 😁
It should be right there waiting for you in the PlayStation store! It's part of the retro collection on PS Plus Premium but it's also sold at a very reasonable price even when not on sale. I just assumed there is a pier to pier connection like in WipeOut Omega Collection rather than online servers. Didn't get the chance to try it out though but maybe in the future :)
There is no other cornering difficulty even come close to wipeout, and especially the technique, the turbo timing and barrel roll, its the best racing game so far compared to those boring car racing game typical The A+ class difficulty in wipeout 2048 is nuts tho
I completely agree, the depth of the control scheme in Wipeout is incredible! And I also agree regarding what you said about the A+ challenges, I'm still hunting for the elite passes on those :)
Believe me, it has crossed my mind. There's a reason I never say "2023" in the voiceover :p However, I've played the game a lot since this video so I think I have enough new input to make a 2025 version when the time comes.
Since wipeout is no more im amazed more people didnt play redout. Id actually say redout was a better racing game and worth your time if you liked wipeout
I see what you mean but I'd actually say that Wipeout and Redout are too different to be directly compared. I think it's the main reason why the player base didn't migrate and stayed on Omega Collection for online play and so on even though there surely are lots of players that own both games. I Think 34BigThings did the right thing in making Redout its own thing rather than try to emulate F-Zero or Wipeout.
Yeah Redout is it's own thing, I really dislike the 1st Redout because how difficult and different from Wip3out, way more faster paced. Seen gameplay of the 2nd game by a fellow streamer and it's just like the first game but better.
Yeah. Agreed. They are different enough on their own merits but as a AG racer you can probably understand my shallow similarities without getting too deep. Redout is definitely its own beast and can somewhat have a high learning curve but sheer exhilarating speed is really captured on redout I feel. It's more about racing than and combat. Each to their own though totally. I love both and only want to see more AG racers going forward. :)
I'm disappointed that Sony haven't made this playable on the PSVR2! Let's hope it will happen. I'd like to see a new Wipeout title soon, maybe 2097 brought to the PS5 and VR2. Now that would be awesome!
I'm going to be crucified for this, but Redout2 is better than Wipeout. This is coming from a lifelong Wipeout fan. Started with the first Wipeout on PS1 and played them all. Downloaded Redout2 a month ago and it's a Wipeout ripoff /clone done better than any Wipeout. But who are kidding, we are all riding on F-Zero GXs coat tales as it was antigravity racing perfected.
Not at all you are more than welcome to express your opinion! However, I think Redout 2 differs quite a bit from Wipeout, at least as far as AG racing games goes, to not be called a clone, even though the game probably wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Wipeout of course. In extension, this also means that some players may well prefer one franchise over the other. I've actually only played F-Zero GX a little bit but I've only heard good things. However, I also think that the F-Zero style of gameplay is on a completely different end of the spectrum compared to Wipeout and Redout falls somewhere in the middle :)
Well, I obviously don't agree with you :) For die hard F-Zero fans, Wipeout is definitely something different and might not suit those players. You really have to approach it as a different game with completely different gameplay mechanics for starters. You may want to check out Wipeout 2048 that's a part of Omega Collection. That game has way wider tracks than HD or Fury.
I truly hope that Sony remembers the Omega Collection and ports it to the PC like Sony's other first-party titles.
That would be awesome! Definitely a way to draw new players in. Hope someone from Sony read your comment too :)
If Sony port's Wipeout to PC I'd faint lol

I had to order a copy from the UK since none were available in Australia but a few weeks later I am reliving Wipeout again! 😊
@@benjidaniel5595 I'm happy to hear everything worked out for you, be it with a bit of a detour. My best guess is the game might not be available in all regions because of the licensed music, that thing is a minefield nowadays. Thanks a lot for getting back to me and I'm very happy to hear you are enjoying the game!
Yeah, it’s most definitely on PS5. And in 4k🔥
Still got my physical copy from over six years ago. First and only wipeout game I own too.
As much as I am terrible at it. I'm enjoying it...except for the lowest speed class events.
It is a really timeless game, just pure arcade racing fun. While the older games might be worth playing if you can get your hands on them, Omega Collection is definitely the most complete package.
Zone on Sol in VR is easily one of the best gaming experiences I ever had.
I really hope to see another Wipeout on PS5 and PSVR2, even if its just more remakes of classic tracks.
I haven't tried Omega Collection out in in VR but I'm confident it's an awesome experience! The Wipeout franchise seems like the perfect setting for a VR game so we should really keep our fingers crossed. It's at least what would get me to buy the PSVR2 :)
@@AGRacingCentral I played Wipeout in 3rd Person view all my life and expected my times to take a hit in 1st person in VR, but it was so intuitive that my times even slightly improved.
Best VR game next to Beat Saber in my opinion.
Redout is pretty fun. Really hard!
Don't know if you're refeering to Redout 1 or 2 but I guess that they are both quite challenging depending on your assistance settings :)
Well hello there fellow Piranha
This game is awesome. This was one of the first PS4 games I ever got over 2 1/2yrs ago, I’m not good at it but it’s fun and I didn’t even know that Studio Liverpool closed 11yrs ago. We need more fun racing games and less simulation mess. 😤
I completely agree that we need a new Wipeout game! Glad to hear you like Omega Collection, I think it's a timeless classic that can be approached very casually or in a super serious manner. Thanks a lot for your comment!
for me, nothing tops the old physics of 2097 + wipeout 3
Those games hold a very nostalgic value for many players. I'm sure the developers of BallisticNG feels the same as you :D
2024 here, two years after Nijigasaki High School Idol Club Anime Season 2! WipEout Omega Collection is still amazing even seven years after release!
Wait...I own this! I played this a long time ago on our PS4. Well, it's now rocking on our PS5 in 4K!
Cool! Glad you are enjoying Wipeout Omega Collection. It's an great timeless racer and it must look pretty awesome in 4K!
@@AGRacingCentral
Awesome in 4K? That is an understatement. It's more like jaw dropping in 4K@60FPS. Simply incredible!
Fingers crossed when the 30th anniversary hits.
That’s a good point! Not all that long left :)
Definitely a classic.
One of the best VR games, for me. Hope they port it for PSVR2
That would be super awesome! I haven't tried Omega Collection in VR but if I ever by Sony's old VR headset, it will be for this game :)
Wipeout's one of my favorite racing games of all time. There's just nothing else like it to this day. There's been imitators but they're just not as good
I am inclined to agree :) I would say that some of the games that were inspired by WipEout are worth playing for sure, but like you, I think than none of them are on the same level.
I actually play Omega and this IS the Banger of the PlayStation
Agreed! It's such a timeless classic. It's remarkable how good it still looks when compared to other games and how smooth it all flows as well.
@@AGRacingCentral i would like PlayStation remastered omega on ps5 to play in 120 fps and play 2048 ships on wipeout hd
If you can find a PS4 or PS5 for a price you find reasonable, I'm confident Omega Collection won't disappoint you. @@DaveThompsonfairlife4all
I'm a big fan of pure, how much of that game is in this collection, and how much of the entire series is in this collection?
I can't say for sure but it's possible that some tracks have been recycled as well as all the teams from Pure with approximately the same stats and looks. If you like Pure, you should really check out Pulse! It's got the same gameplay but with a campaign grid that is a much more fun way to play solo.
@AGRacingCentral I've recognized some tracks from pure in the collection, so that's why I asked. Thanks.
I'd like to check out pulse but both my psps don't work, lol.
1:36 a moment before disaster…
1:35 no story but lots and lots of lore
Definitely. I really think they should have included it more in the game.
as a fan of wipeout 2097, I tried Omega; all is very nice, ships , levels, grounds... but the old game still matchs better in terms of playability and nervous ships
The older PS1-era Wipeout games certainly has their distinct look and feel that I'm not necessarily saying is better than Omega Collection but it's definitely different so I see what you mean. Something's telling me you already know about BallisticNG but that is probably the perfect game for you :)
Desiiiiiiign! (Best said in a scandinavian accent)
ARe you referring to something I said in the video? Pleas leave a time stamp, you got me curious :)
@@AGRacingCentral Nah, I just used to work with a graphic designer who was Swedish and my boss would say this in a ridiculous accent for fun. It's never left me since. 😁
The Wipeout Platinum Trophy is sick 😡😡😡
I'm sure it is, haven't collected it myself :)
i wish we would have gotten a ps5 title that was just as groundbreaking as the original was. Sad that the studio shut down in 2012.
Yes, I agree. I also long for a sequel but at least we have this timeless awesome title to keep playing a while longer.
How can i get this game on the PS5?
It should be right there waiting for you in the PlayStation store! It's part of the retro collection on PS Plus Premium but it's also sold at a very reasonable price even when not on sale. I've heard some players claim that the game is nowhere to be found in the online store and this might be because of regional copyright problems regarding the game's music. Feel free to let me know if you found the game!
Please release it on PC so Wipeout online goes alive once again!
A PC release would definitely revitalize the online community! We can always keep our fingers crossed :)
it's still available on ps5 store?
It should be but there might be some issues in some regions because of the copyrighted music. You may have to find the game the store, click on the ”…”-icon and select the right version. Feel free to let me know if you find it!
Do they still have multiplayer available to play online?
I just assumed there is a pier to pier connection like in WipeOut Omega Collection rather than online servers. Didn't get the chance to try it out though but maybe in the future :)
There is no other cornering difficulty even come close to wipeout, and especially the technique, the turbo timing and barrel roll, its the best racing game so far compared to those boring car racing game typical
The A+ class difficulty in wipeout 2048 is nuts tho
I completely agree, the depth of the control scheme in Wipeout is incredible! And I also agree regarding what you said about the A+ challenges, I'm still hunting for the elite passes on those :)
They should put this on PC. I don't have a PS4/5
That would be a great idea, I would love to see the player base grow!
You should change the title each year
Believe me, it has crossed my mind.
I may just have to dust off the PS4 pro & fire up Wipeout Omiga.... I've been playing since 2097.
The game is really timeless so I say do it :) And feel free to join any of our online sessions too!
I'm disappointed that Sony haven't made this playable on the PSVR2! Let's hope it will happen.
I'd like to see a new Wipeout title soon, maybe 2097 brought to the PS5 and VR2. Now that would be awesome!
2097 remake should have been made...
That would have been super cool! Let's keep our fingers crossed :)
Wipeout games are unplayable and not fun after a while... The tracks need to be wider
Wipeout on VR is amazing
It may eventually be the reason why I buy a VR headset for PS4. The game looks really awesome in VR!
IT LOOKS LIKE A PS5 GAME. SUBLIME. BEST RACING GAME AVAILABLE
I agree with everything that you just said :)
