BallisticNG is the spiritual successor to the first 3 Wipeouts. It has the option for an immersive cockpit view and a VR mode. Well worth checking out.
@@thegambler9994 There is a mode which can allow you to play with the HD physics. You can enable it by going into the main menu, going into cheats under the extras section and changing the physics mode to 2280 mode.

They better come back. One of my all time favorite racing games that didn't use real cars. Wipeout has always been very immersive for me. I always wished I could Teleport into the game and live in the wipeout universe

One small correction: Wipeout 64 was not the first Wipeout featuring analog controls. Wipeout supported analog controls from its very start on the PlayStation via Namco's NeGcon and racing wheels in general.
@@squills1 Probably not officially, since the controller came out after Wipeout was released (not sure about the second though). But IIRC the 3D controller was detected as a wheel in older games that had wheel support. So, if Wipeout had wheel support, you could use the 3D controller there as well.
The Wipeout series was an experience, it’s one of the few games that truly wowed me. My music interest also expanded thanks to the Wipeout series. My respect to all who participated in the this great series.

SONY told Studio Liverpool AG Racers weren't popular after HD was released, and there were to be no more [must mean USA, as it has always been popular in Europe], but then SONY released the VITA, and told them to make 2048 for it. The Omega packed surprised everyone. Historically SONY has always used Wipeout to demo their new technology, don't be surprised if the same happens with the VR2 release, probably under SONY XDEV with a good deal of help from Firesprite studio, which SONY bought, and was started by the two former heads of Psygnosis/Studio liverpool.
I loved wipeout 3, but we got a rather truncated version in the US. I wish we could get wipeout 3 special edition for PS4/5. How hard could it be, SONY?
For now yes. Unfortunately Sony is too busy “cinematic experiences” to the point where all their games look and play similar. Maybe Sony might make a new Wipeout game for PSVR2 but I doubt they’ll make a conventional Wipeout game anytime soon.
It might not have the same name, but racing games like Wipeout will always exist, because racing futuristic ships will always be fun. I got hooked on the first one back in the 90's.
I mean, at least Sony actually gave you a remake of your best titles. We F-Zero fans got nothing from Nintendo for over twenty years after GX, and then a 99 style Battle Royale based on the original SNES game (which, to be fair, is a lot of fun, but not really what we were wanting). But what really annoys me is that, with games like BalisticNG and Redout 2 on the WipeOut side of AG racing gameplay, and Aero GPX and XF: eXtreme Formula on the F-Zero side, and with the general renaissance the AG racing genre is having, the originators of the genre are completely ignoring all of that and claiming "there's no interest", "no one would buy it", etc. and only producing half-assed "appeasement" titles. It's almost like Sony and Nintendo specifically _want_ the AG racing genre to die off, as though there's something about it they're either afraid of or hate.
WipOut was my first game on ps1. Love this series and its music which got me into Orbital and Leftfield. A new next gen only WipOut would be so awesome, also would love to see a new Extreme-G racing game.
I played wipeout 2097 so much as a kid. I'm still pissed off I didn't get first place on the Spilskinanke track because I missed a turn on the broken segment and the other ship got ahead of me.
I must be so out of touch. I enjoyed Wipeout Fusion so much. Grew up on the original games and thoroughly enjoyed those too, but the upgrade paths on Fusion just ticked all the boxes for me. Stopped playing after Wipeout Pure, then picked up the Omega collection. Been playing that ever since. WipEout won't die, it'll come back some day.
FACTS, i remember taking my friends game and cuz he didn’t play it and I played that game over GT3 for time cuz I was hooked, I played all the others before that and it didn’t feel the same as fusion, it had complex tracks, it was the only wipeout with visuals damage and a repair pit zone too
If you want the first 3 then try BallisticNG and get some track and car mods for it because like every car and track from those 3 were ported and the physics are almost identical. Customization of that game is insane, and it has native support for Windows, Mac, and Linux
Wipeout Fusion has been retconned out of the canon somewhat, with the wierd feel and edgy vibe of the game having an in-universe explaination, thst being corporate meddling and corruption. (Look up the lore for the Wipeout series. Its very fascinating. Temtesh Bay is very infamous in the lore of the series).
I'm still salty at SCEE for killing Studio Liverpool because "line no go up". Hopefully we can get a new, solid WipEout game in the future. Thanks for the awesome video :D
Whoever made that mobile game must be completely removed from gaming, graphic design, music and fashion trends going back to the Y2K look in 2021 and beyond. Not to mention people looking for difficulty in games now, they had an opportunity to make the new “souls like” game for streaming. Total idiots.

Wipeout would thrive today with the upgrade the consoles have now. 120fps would make the game finally feel bloody fast and have great graphics etc. the one thing i wish they would focus on is not only track but like sprint tracks with multiple routes to take to get to the finish line. And also making the game feel more intense and like have a weapon system thats less of a one click destroy vibe but a system of having to master different weapons
I love the Wipeout games. The best experience was the omega collecting on the PS4 and the original PSVR. I would love to play that again on PSVR2. A new Wipeout would be awesome as well........ hopefully worth VR support
WipEout fusion is actually really fun, having a fighting component and not necessarily focusing on the race all the time is rather refreshing, it doesn't feel the same as eliminator but it's unique on it's own way and I kind of get why it got that reputation, but there is no denying that it's fun
Wipeout is a really cool game that I wanted to play a lot after I played Redout, but it just... Is super hard to control, at least for me, which is a shame given how cool it looks to me.
I’m actually kind of glad Wipeout had been laid to rest for a while. I’d rather see it remain loved and enjoyed by a cult following than revived and turned into a live service cash grab. We all know Sony would do it, and we all know that the game’s formula could be translated to a live service setting very easily. I didn't really get into the Wipeout series until Wipeout Pure. After that, it's been probably my favorite futuristic racing game. The graphical style and interface design and atmosphere is just better than anything else out there. The only other game I enjoy in a similar vein is Grip which is like a spiritual successor to Psygnosis' Rollcage games. Not sure if some of the same devs were actually involved with it.
I believe that every PlayStation console had a wipeout game😊. So hopefully this continues. Plus having Wipeout Omega Collection in VR is an amazing experience
I’d say that with the popularity around games like ballistic NG,we’re likely going to see another wipEout in the future. Preferably further in the future,I don’t know why they’re so focused on the pulse era
Wipeout should show people that it is more or less the goal to master the game so you can play at Phantom or Rapier. It’s a totally different game then on Venom speed. And even reviewers show pretty slow and crappy footage.
If it does make a return, I hope they abandon the art and visual directions of WipEout HD/ 2048, and stick with an adaptation of the stylized and simplistic design philosophies of Wip3out-Pulse
I really loved how drifty Wipeout felt compared to F-Zero, and how you could pitch up and down a little like an aircraft. It gave the game a feeling of realism. You had to really master the tracks with each team, and understand when and how to pull every turn. But once you did that, the sense of flow you would get is something no other game has ever achieved. But Pulse made the ships a lot more twitchy, and the magnetic tracks just felt too much like Extreme G. Locking to a track and travelling vertically for 50 storeys is just not Wipeout. And 2048 really lost what made Wipeout feel like Wipeout.
Regarding the magnetic track sections, I think a light hand with them would have been really smart. There were a few places where they allowed for track patterns that weren't otherwise possible, and that was really neat to see. The issue I have with them is that they often got used in places where they didn't add interesting variety to a track and felt more like they were there because the designer wanted to put *something* in a straight. There are several tracks in Pulse that have magnetic whoop-de-doos. Why? It's a straight line and the magnetic track removes the player's agency to try for roll boosts on them.
Wipe0ut is not an annual release title, i would say when a new generation PlayStation console is released, I'm a massive fan of original PlayStation 1 titles which i still own & every other version Xbox etc, it's in my top 10 of all time,
Wipeout HD is the best game of the series. I think Wipeout 3 is the second best. I wish so badly that HD had cockpit view. They could have made it look so cool too.
Honestly a new Wipeout would be something that would make me at least consider a PS5 (assuming they don't port it to PC). Actually scratch that, it would be nice if they made a new Wipeout game period, don't care if it's on PS5 or PC I want a new Wipeout.
I am a hardcore wipeout fan i have played it in every version ever made but hopeing for a new version is just wishfull thinking. we have been asking for a new version for many years and we have been ignored. sony could at least publish a statement telling us one way or the other but all we get is silence.
this might sound like heresy, but for me, Fusion is the best of the original four games. I even like it better than Pure and Pulse. its soundtrack is second only to Wipeout 3 imo. it even introduced Zone mode which became a staple of the franchise ever since (and which I'm sure most who never played it credit Pure for). I know getting rid of the speed classes was controversial, but the customisation options that were available more than made up for it. it made you feel like you were progressing in a competitive world of futuristic racing. I agree that G-Tech was an ugly ship, but that's about the only real criticism I have of the game. its reputation as the black sheep of the saga really doesn't do it justice.
And to think Sony was not capable of doing a "remaster" of the last episode, on PS5..... Sure it's more "bankable" to remake the remake of The last of US on PS5..... Sony is stupid..(well it's boss..)

Unfortunately it uses the Wipeout/W2097/W3 physics, not the Pure/Pulse/HD/2048 physics that Omega Collection uses.

Studio Liverpool is long gone unfortunately. BNG is the closest thing we have on replicating the WipeOut physics, both old and new.

2097 had analog control in the Saturn version with the 3D Control Pad, and on the Playstation version with the Negcon controller.

There were a few places where they allowed for track patterns that weren't otherwise possible, and that was really neat to see. The issue I have with them is that they often got used in places where they didn't add interesting variety to a track and felt more like they were there because the designer wanted to put *something* in a straight. There are several tracks in Pulse that have magnetic whoop-de-doos. Why? It's a straight line and the magnetic track removes the player's agency to try for roll boosts on them.

Wipe0ut is not an annual release title, i would say when a new generation PlayStation console is released, I'm a massive fan of original PlayStation 1 titles which i still own & every other version Xbox etc, it's in my top 10 of all time,

Wipeout HD is the best game of the series. I think Wipeout 3 is the second best. I wish so badly that HD had cockpit view. They could have made it look so cool too.

fast rmx is a fun game but its a bit shallow, it also starts breaking apart at the highest speeds
I just hope the Wipeout series would come back and would be awesome if this series works with other consoles like Xbox, Switch and more

I swear Wipeout, XL and Pure gave me adrenaline all the time. AG System was and still is always favorite. But in time, I've learned to master Quirex.

Honestly a new Wipeout would be something that would make me at least consider a PS5 (assuming they don't port it to PC). Actually scratch that, it would be nice if they made a new Wipeout game period, don't care if it's on PS5 or PC I want a new Wipeout.

I am a hardcore wipeout fan i have played it in every version ever made but hopeing for a new version is just wishfull thinking.
we have been asking for a new version for many years and we have been ignored.

this might sound like heresy, but for me, Fusion is the best of the original four games. I even like it better than Pure and Pulse. its soundtrack is second only to Wipeout 3 imo. it even introduced Zone mode which became a staple of the franchise ever since (and which I'm sure most who never played it credit Pure for). I know getting rid of the speed classes was controversial, but the customisation options that were available more than made up for it. it made you feel like you were progressing in a competitive world of futuristic racing. I agree that G-Tech was an ugly ship, but that's about the only real criticism I have of the game. its reputation as the black sheep of the saga really doesn't do it justice.
