Wipeout HD had issues running in single player, then imagine how much more evident and bigger those issues would be in multiplayer. I finally picked this up long overdue for my recently acquired PS5 and I am simply blown away. The fidelity along with the incredible sense of speed make it one of the most impressive games I’ve seen personally. It looks good enough to be a native PS5 app. and the gameplay is amazing to go along with the insane technical prowess.
"We can't show HDR directly" Umm, TH-cam added HDR support back in November last year. And I can confirm this because when I open an HDR video on my LG TV, it always displays the TV's HDR icon on the top right corner of the screen.
In this case I think they just don't have the capture cards to record it. The only channel I know of with HDR game clips is The HDR Channel, and I have no idea how their method differs from what everyone else is doing.
I assumed the built in recording feature would just crush the tops and bottoms of the luminance range to convert to sRGB, like it does when you take screenshots of HDR games on PS4 Pro. For some reason I've never tried recording a video clip to see if it preserves the HDR data. But if it does preserve all the data? Then it solves that issue!
Some of the former Wipeout developers recently released a new Wipeout-style game called Formula Fusion. It seems to have no marketing budget or word of mouth interest so far, but who knows maybe it will spring to life in the near future?
I'm late to the party, but I'll mention that Formula Fusion was lacklustre at launch, and is being reworked right now under the new name of 'Pacer'. That aside, if you want something truly Wipeout in every way, get BallisticNG, which is genuinely right up with the absolute best of Wipeout. It's amazing.
It could have been fun if you took it a step further, since Wipeout HD is actually a remaster of Wipeout pure and Pulse for the PSP. That would be an even starker comparison lol

VariantAEC all tracks from pulse are in Wipeout HD. A few from pure. HD is made of from those tracks and the same vehicles. The omega collection has all tracks from HD, fury and 2048 if I'm not mistaken.
played it last night and was just mesmurized by the tracks in 2048, all the tracks in this game feel so alive. your so focused on the racing, but you will notice the little details that you find on every corner. Theres so much going on in the background, but its not too distracting. I love the tracks in this game. :)
Thanks for the well done review video. An amazing, amazing, amazing racing experience that shouldn't be missed by anyone with a PS4 and especially PS4 Pro. Also impressive is the very fair price point; only 40 bucks for the compilation. I was so happy to see this game released because like so many other fans, we thought 2008 was the last Wipeout we'd ever see. I'm really hoping the studios responsible for this awesome remaster will consider a Wipeout VR title in the future. How awesome would THAT be?
I'm playing this right now with a Pro hocked up to a 65inch C6V OLED TV and this game offers one of the best image quality i have seen so far and HDR really makes a difference too! And most important its a fun game of couse :3
I actually found that in elimination mode in either HD or Fury, if you turn around and shoot rockets at your opponents the game drops a bunch of FPS briefly
The PS4 Wipeout Collection is also native HDR coded... running on a PS4 Pro on a Sony Bravia X900H at 4K HDR 60fps is just breathtakingly awesome and makes you wonder what would happen if Sony would pull more games from the PSP, PS-Vita, PS1, PS2 and PS3 into either the PS4 Pro or PS5 with this or better style effort would just make a killer lineup for the 3d graphics games alone.
This is the standard all devs should aim for when making PS4 Pro games and or upgrades. WIPEOUT is back at long last and its freaking awesome and beautiful. This old school 90s Playstation 1 gamer is very happy
Have anyone here seeing all clip before judging it? Even it is old games but dev did rework a lot from lightning system, Shadow cast on every objects, to all texture quality, even add more feature such as Ambient Occlusion, screenspace reflection. With almost everything like that, it looks amazing when you actually play it. And the blast improvement also very clear when comparing to ps3 and ps vita version. So it is amazing to see it run stunning in 4K 60fps even in Splitscreen mode. Also remember that WipeOut Omega Collection is a fast to super fast pace game. It will need a nice streamline in everything to run this smoothly. So it is a praise for this dev to optimize very well and still, deliver a very great works in remaking this game.
I have never heard of the developer Clever Beans until now they should be applauded for their fantastic work on this title hope to see them Remaster/Remake future PlayStation titles
Luckly framedrops on the Vita aren't that common compared to PS3, looks like the dynamic resolution does it's job better. Still playing 2048 on my Vita, yes it feels different because of the 30fps but not bad still like it a lot and back then it showed what VIta could do and who knows if Vita succeed more in the west maybe we would get games that would look even better. Will I buy the Omega collection on the PS4? Yes because I never had Wipeout HD Fury, but even then for on the go I keep my 2048 on the Vita. 4k60 splitscreen is impressive. Just played the PS3 version few weeks ago and splitscreen felt like it was running sub 30fps. It was a sharp contrast to the single player. Curious if the dynamic framebuffer was even engaging or just stayed at half horizontal resolution.

Actual real games, like Assasins Creed or Battlefront etc won't have this level of graphics on PoS4. Everything else was a jaggy 30fps ( at best ) ugly texture clusterfuck. Xbox360 dominated in every way, but $ony bought the media and skewered the sales results along with shills like DF overplaying the capabilities of there machines. This might MIGHT be actual real 4k at 60fps, but it will be the first an LAST game on PoS4 that will do this. Everything else is going to look pretty damn weak, ESPECIALLY when next to a TRUE gaming machine like the Scorpio.

Because of myopia I figure I will skip on PSVR for now... and so I was considering then just buying a stock PS4 to be able to experience WipEout Omega Collection (I'm a huge fan who played 2097 & Wip3Out Special Edition to hell and back). Or do you think PS4 Pro is worth the upgrade? I'll want to pretty much buy PS4 for this game alone... and my TV is a 1080p TV anyway. Hence I'm wondering if the 100 € extra for the pro makes a significant difference?
It's not a last gen game at its core, it is even older. Wipeout HD was basicly a remaster of Wipeout Pulse which had been released for the PSP first (and later on the PS2 as well), and even the PSP managed to run the game on 60 fps (!), sure, a lot of the assetts got reworked since then but still worth mentioning, imo.
Oh gawd this looks incredible!! I never were able to play wipeout but hell i'm picking it right now. On PC, Redout is the platform best wipeout racer but compared to THE wipeout - it cannot even compare.
I am confused. I already own it on ps3 and vita do I have to buy it again to play on ps4 or do I get if for free for buying it already. no matter how good it looks if I have to buy it again it is a no go for me.
Just a shame a lot of effects seem to be missing. 2048 is missing all of the smoke trails for the ships and hd is missing weapon effects. For example: triple rockets, instead of leaving some long lasting smoke effects they are now replaced by a flash that disappears really quickly (true for a lot of weapons). Personally i would have much rather seen them implement the dynamic resolution rather than have these effects removed complitely.
It may run at 4K with antialiasing, but I don't personally feel the game looks good. The lack of any material-based lighting, overuse of bloom and overly simple environments make it look like a PS2 era game with high resolution and texture work.

I have little to no doubt that Naughty Dog will create another technological masterpiece,that perhaps may even be a match for many,maybe even most PC games(on a Pro),but it will certainly not destroy them.
I feel like the differences between PS4 and vita are hard to see with this game because my TV screen is 80 inches and my vita screen is only 5. And its also running at double the framerate and 16x the resolution which makes it harder to deliver a hug3 graphical leap
I love my ps4, love my switch, and I love my PC. My nephews love their Xbox one and I love playing it with them. Why does their have to be so much fighting about what's better. Truly none of the options are bad. Some are just more suited to others needs. Not everything has to be for you.

Wipeout is possibly the best racing series in existence. Can't wait to pick this up and play through 2048 at 60 fps.

This gives me hope for some games running at 4k 60fps on Scorpio. The slightly better cpu, huge gpu upgrade and massive RAM upgrade will surely help.

xxnike629xx yeah like all the eggsbox fans were saying ps pro can't do real 4k and here we have native 4k at 60fps it just goes to show it's very possible it's just down to the devs, this is easily one of the best looking games this yr.

[4K] WipEout Omega Collection: PS4/Pro/PS3/Vita - Graphics Comparison + Frame-Rate Test
Because of myopia I figure I will skip on PSVR for now... and so I was considering then just buying a stock PS4 to be able to experience WipEout Omega Collection (I'm a huge fan who played 2097 & Wip3Out Special Edition to hell and back). Or do you think PS4 Pro is worth the upgrade? I'll want to pretty much buy PS4 for this game alone... and my TV is a 1080p TV anyway. Hence I'm wondering if the 100 € extra for the pro makes a significant difference?

It's not a last gen game at its core, it is even older.
Wipeout HD was basicly a remaster of Wipeout Pulse which had been released for the PSP first (and later on the PS2 as well), and even the PSP managed to run the game on 60 fps (!),
sure, a lot of the assetts got reworked since then but still worth mentioning, imo.
Wish they could have included Pulse and even Pure in the collection.
This game is a masterpiece. I hope PS5 supports backwards compatibility so I could play this gem over and over.
Oh gawd this looks incredible!! I never were able to play wipeout but hell i'm picking it right now. On PC, Redout is the platform best wipeout racer but compared to THE wipeout - it cannot even compare.
I am confused. I already own it on ps3 and vita do I have to buy it again to play on ps4 or do I get if for free for buying it already. no matter how good it looks if I have to buy it again it is a no go for me.

Yes, this game runs at 4k60 regardless of resolution on the PS4 Pro (DF confirmed this in a previous video).

Just a shame a lot of effects seem to be missing. 2048 is missing all of the smoke trails for the ships and hd is missing weapon effects. For example: triple rockets, instead of leaving some long lasting smoke effects they are now replaced by a flash that disappears really quickly (true for a lot of weapons). Personally i would have much rather seen them implement the dynamic resolution rather than have these effects removed complitely.

It may run at 4K with antialiasing, but I don't personally feel the game looks good.
The lack of any material-based lighting, overuse of bloom and overly simple environments make it look like a PS2 era game with high resolution and texture work.
got this on ps4 pro with Samsung ks7000 game is simply stunning if you want to show of your ps4 pro this and zero dawn are the games you need.
Zero Dawn is good, but once I saw that water is fake and has no interaction with the player or things walking through it, I couldn't unsee it.

I am quite pleased with my PS4(Not Pro),but even I know that PS4 Pro is no match for a modern gaming PC's.
Scorpio isn't even out yet.
I have little to no doubt that Naughty Dog will create another technological masterpiece,that perhaps may even be a match for many,maybe even most PC games(on a Pro),but it will certainly not destroy them.

I feel like the differences between PS4 and vita are hard to see with this game because my TV screen is 80 inches and my vita screen is only 5. And its also running at double the framerate and 16x the resolution which makes it harder to deliver a hug3 graphical leap
I love my ps4, love my switch, and I love my PC. My nephews love their Xbox one and I love playing it with them. Why does their have to be so much fighting about what's better. Truly none of the options are bad. Some are just more suited to others needs. Not everything has to be for you.
