I tried this yesterday for supper and both my Mom and myself agree that they were the best pork chops that we'd ever eaten and I'm 58 and she's 83. So when we say that they were the best we'd ever eaten that's not to be taken lightly as between the two of us we've eaten a whole hell of a lot of pork chops in our lives. I'm now going to send this video to everyone that I know who likes pork chops and urge them to try it. I'll be making it for years to come. =)

I always coat mine in with some flour and brown them in the cast iron skillet on both sides, then i take them out and add the mushroom gravy, scraping all the goodies off of the bottom of the pan, then I return the pork chops in the pan with the soup and let them cook for about a half hour to 45 mins. and they are delicous that way too.

I just made this tonight, and it turned out really well. So easy. I made a couple of slight changes to the recipe: I used bone-in pork chops because I already had bought them. I used two cans of regular cream of mushroom soup, because that's what I had in my cupboard. And I used fresh mushrooms instead of canned, because I had some to use up. Seasoned with pepper and a small bit of seasoning salt. Go easy with the salt because canned soup is already quite salty. Baked 45 minutes covered, and about another 45 uncovered - until the chops were browning on top and there was a browned 'crust' starting to form on the sauce. The chops were falling off the bone tender. My new favorite recipe.

You just gave me back faith that my chops will come out good❣ I had such thick chops i couldn't help but stuff them. I finely diced one McIntosh apple and added it to Stove top stuffing. I stuffed the pockets of 5 thick chops. I added 3 cans of cream of mushroom soup, 1 can water, one can low sodium chicken broth and 1/2 can of water. Added ground peppercorn and a bit of salt, put pats of butter, put the top on and it went in pre heated 350 oven, but then I put oven up to 400. After 45 mins, the top will come off and I'll put it back for another 45 or so, as you comment you did. Your time frame on how you did your chops, 45 min covered, 45 mins uncovered gave me the faith to think "this should come out alright". Thanks to you and Debbie❣I'll let you know as soon as they-re done🤗

Usually when I bake pork chops I get the thick bone-in ones, which I sear on both sides in a frying pan first. I use the same pan to sautee mushrooms, then mix the mushrooms in with cream of mushroom soup, some water, & a little bit of gravy darkener. I put the pork chops in a baking dish & pour the soup over, cover with foil & cook REAL low, about 250-300°F for about an hr to an hr and a half, keeping them covered the whole time. Real tender & delicious, but for someone who likes their gravy on the thicker side it's too "soupy" for me. I think I'll give this version a try, thanks for posting

Hi Debbie, I have been making the basic smothered pork chop most of my life by just using the flour water and kitchen bouquet method (and that's good too) but I decided to look on the web and see how others made it just to try something different. I am a private C.N.A. and I have a patient that has lost most of his taste bud,(and getting him to like everything is a task) well long story made short, after viewing several videos, I decided to try yours and IT WAS AWESOME!!!!., your recipe made my day easier.

I seasoned & browned them in a frying pan and took them out, and used the amount of water (that you said to mix in with the soups) to pick up the Fond and Brown bits up...then added all that to the soups...and proceeded exactly as you did. WOW, was that ever good. Thanks so much for your great ideas.

Ok Debbie, for my 1st time with Pork chop casserole, I finely diced one McIntosh apple and added it to Stove top stuffing. I had five thick chops, so thick I couldn't resist stuffing them. So I slit them in the middle and stuffed them with that mix. There wasn't much left over, so the remaining stuffing I put between the chops. I'm embarrassed to tell you, 'cause I probably wrecked it with 3 cans of Campbells cream of mushroom. One can of water, one can of chicken broth and 1/2 can of water. I put butter pats, as you did and in a covered corningware casserole it went in a pre heated 350° oven set for 90 minutes. All this time I'm asking Saint Padre Pio, "please make this come out good". Yes, I added the pepper (pepper grinded) and salt. Well, I'll be back to let you know how this came out. I'm going to put oven on 400° right now.
My corningware has the glass top. After 45 mins, I'll take the top off, as you did and put it back in the oven.
I'm going to say my prayers🤗❣

My husband is not a mushroom fan so I think I will substitute the cream of mushroom soup for cream of onion instead, and cover with thin slices of onion. That should make him smile!

I've never seen cream of onion soup.

@@jusssayin480 Hard to find but the only brand I have consistently found is Campbells. I shop at Kroger Market and they have a couple other affiliate chains so they may be available there. I live in Central Arkansas so it shouldn't be too hard to get your hands on. It makes the best gravy by far! IMO.

Seam to me there's a sear or not to sear, but the object here is to cook something good in a little time get a drip on it or cook it your own way .........

butter is way better and way healthier. why the hell would you use margarine? calcium lol

Nick Larsen -because it’s cheaper butter might be better but it’s anywhere from 3-5 dollars and country crock is only 3 bucks and will last you a lot longer. I am a CNA and have to work overtime if I want to cook all fancy with real butter lol

now had they been topped with some thin sliced onions and chopped garlic searing the chops is basic cooking 101 this is lazy cooking right here

    • @DebbieFoodPrepping
      @DebbieFoodPrepping  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Not at all is this lazy cooking. Lol. You don't have to sear them when you cook them in the oven like this. Also, I would not want onions or garlic on my pork chops. Yuck! Remember not everyone likes what you or I like but this is one of my top 10 videos of all times. If you look at the comments you will see that it is quite delicious to most all. Thanks for your comment and have a good night!!!

***** Yeah I saw the comments I also found a video that has all the above in it. Most people are looking for short cuts to cooking not really good food

+swampmammytheone Hmmm, well I would hope that they are looking for shortcuts to really good food, cause that's what I try to do. I have another video of Chicken and Dumplings using biscuits. It is absolutely delicious but the short cut is biscuits for dumplings. It's another of my top 10. I try my best to make foods for my family that is quick AND delicious. Happy New Year!!!

+swampmammytheone - well perhaps you should make a video to show that ... some people don't have lots of time to prep.
