I first had rice with cream of mushroom soup about 50 years ago, when I was a 5 yo kid in Taiwan and my dad, who had served with the US Air Force and visited the US, made it on a family beach trip. I loved it, and when we eventually moved to the US and I learned to cook for myself, I tried making the dish many times and could ever get it to the consistency or taste that I remembered, and my dad and I didn't turn out to be close before he died, and I never asked how he made it and he never made it again from what I remember after that beach trip. I'm a pretty competent home cook these days and even went to chef school for a while before dropping out, and it never occurred to me to use COOKED rice and just mix the cream of mushroom soup in. I've finally learned the secret to one of my earliest and fondest food memories, from that family beach trip into Fulong, Taiwan, 50 years ago. Thank you.
❤
Every time you say, "Shine for Jesus!", I have to smile. You keep your light shining!
This world needs some light.... let's all SHINE!
Let it shine❤❤❤😊😊😊
I am from Savannah, Georgia. MeMe you remind me so much of my grandmother, literally! We always had Sunday dinner at my grandmother's house, just like you! My grandmother is 91 and in a nursing home now. She broke her hip and is no longer mobile! The great thing is she taught me at a young age how to cook just like her. The ingredients are important of course, but the MOST IMPORTANT INGREDIENTS TO MIX IN - IS LOVE AND A GRATEFUL HEART FOR JESUS AND FAMILY! Sending blessings to your family from mine.
You learned the most important thing!! Jesus and family. That is the legacy that matters! Keep on keeping on!
❤❤❤
Southernlady, what do you think about factory farms,do you approve of pigs being forced into gas chambers ?
@@jjradV Where were you going with this? No one discussed this in this topic. Kinda harsh, IMO. Of course that factory farms are cruel, and they shouldn't be, but pick your fights.
Rougebarn, the video is about eating the corpses of pigs.
Since pigs are the star of the show I think it is appropriate to talk about how they suffer in factory farms and slaughter houses.
If you ever heard pigs screaming for their lives trying to escape the gas chamber you would never forget it.
MeMe, firstly can I say you have a beautiful kitchen.
I am from England, & it is wonderful to get meal ideas from different people from all over the world.
As a lover of pork chops I can see this going down very, very well once it is cooked up.
It also inspires me to use other meats like chicken legs or breasts - the possibilities are endless.
Your side dishes could feed an army!
I am from North West England, so we are used to your portion sizes.
MeMe, thank you for sharing your cooking skills, your kitchen and the extra special gift you have - your beautiful accent.
I would listen attentively to you reading the phone book!
God bless MeMe to you & your family and friends.
Thank you.
David.
Wow, England!! It is amazing to me how social media makes the world so small. Thank you for your sweet comment. And thank you for watching. I am sure I would love your accent as well. This dish is one of our family's favorites!!! Give it a try!
I just found her channel today, and she seems so lovely in addition to being a wonderful cook. And yes, I love her traditional southern accent. 🙂
I just came across her channel also and this was such a sweet and kind comment ❤
Lucky family to have such an awesome Meme! That was an amazing spread!
I blessed they are mine!
Blessed family!!! Sweet MiMi!!💕
Looks delicious
“I hate that ya can’t taste this but you’ll just have to make it yourself now”😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤ love this , looks delicious
P
*ALWAYS* shine 4 Jesus!! 🙌🙌🙌
Amen
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah 🙌 🙏 ❤
On rare occasion do I find a channel on TH-cam that is conveying information I feel I need to write down but this is one! I am so glad I found this channel! My great aunt used to make some of these recipes and never left us her recipes. These taste like my childhood! Women like Meme are the backbone of their families and their communities. So much selfless work and dedication. The amount of work and expense for that Sunday buffet, all for the love of family. Thanks so much for these recipes. Now my kids get to enjoy some of the foods my Aunt Nellie made and I grew up on.
I made this last night n my husband loved it. I heard him up in the night sneaking in the fridge eating it. Lol
My goodness that looks more like a homecoming spread than a regular Sunday dinner! Looks delicious ☺️
Way back in the 70’s I made pork chops, or chicken and rice with mushroom or cream of celery soup, didn’t cook any of it in advance, I just put it in the oven right before we left for church, we were back home in a little over an hour and our dinner was ready to serve. I don’t do many casseroles anymore because I just don’t like the taste of any canned soup, and almost every one of my older recipes calls for canned soup. I do remember those casseroles were always so good, and so easy to make.
I have several viewers that make their own "cream of" soups... maybe try making your own so that you can enjoy casseroles again! : )
Agree that canned soups are not as good as using homemade stock with half and half or cream
@@arribaficationwineho32I didn’t know you can make your own
@@lonelysith66 yes, canned cream soups copy sauces made with stock and cream or milk and thickener, veloute sauce is a basis for such. SO much better than canned soups but homemade stock is worth the effort
Hello, how’re you doing?
I just love her accent and her way of explaining her steps…can’t wait to try this recipe. She reminds me of the people from the “greatest generation “ who I deeply admire. My neighbor, who I adored, Ms Emily Highnote passed away a week ago and she was a true Southern Lady like this person. Ms Emily’s nephews write Steel Magnolias and played the part of the preacher in the movie, and Ms Emily had a very small part. I grew up outside of Atlanta and am very proud of my Southern Heritage…thank you for sharing and keeping great memories alive. 😊
Thank you for your sweet comment!
This was neat to read. Rest in peace Ms. Emily, sorry for your loss. ❤
My mom cooked her pork chops with just salt & pepper & then would add mushroom soup to the pan she cooked the chops in & scrape up the brown bits. She would add water rather than the milk & then add the mushroom sauce over the rice with the chop on top & home grown vegetables on the side, so yummy😋
That's the way I was taught as well. When you include the brown bits in the pan with the mushroom soup, it makes the most amazing gravy.
for years my family has made this. We would brown the chops put them in a casserole dish, add the soup and milk and bake. Everyone loved it served over rice.
Hello, how’re you doing?
How're you doing? I Pray this year brings great Happiness, Joy, and Peace to you, and your Household. I pray may the Blessing of the Lord be with you, your words in this video are so amazing, I would love to talk to you. Is John Patrick from Nashville Tennessee, where are you from?
I've cooked mine the same way, so did my mom. I'm going to try it this way especially flouring/frying the chops first.
MeMe is so cute. I no longer have my grandmothers but have plenty of great memories of them. Thank you for placing a smile on my face. God bless you
As a native South Carolinian with family here for many generations it's a pleasure to watch your videos and make your recipes! Every Sunday at your house is Thanksgiving!!
I just came across your channel for the first time, loved it! What a delicious buffet, prepared by such a sweet and loving lady!
Welcome!!
First time for me too came up in my news feed .😊
Me too!
Me too n I fixed her squash n zucchini casserole today n my husband loved it. Sliced up some Ohio river bank tomatoes n he chowed down. You must try it . Making this one tomorrow
Hi Ms Meme! I'm from Atlanta, GA and I recognize a southern sister! I just found your channel and you're so charming and such a pretty kitchen! Did your grandchildren make that colorful platter on the easel? I want to make one with my grandchildren. Also I worry about all the salt that was added to the rice and mushroom soup mixture at the end of mixing. 13:56 The soup has a lot of salt too. I know how I would modify the recipe to be healthier but I just wanted you to be aware for your health. Too much salt causes many health problems such as high blood pressure and heart disease. 🙏❤️
I make chops & rice for my wife very often. We love it. A garden salad included makes it a wonderful meal.
Looks so yummy! I love how you share Jesus too!
Wow! What a Sunday spread. I’m glad I found your channel today. Pork chop casserole ingredients just added to my store list 👍👍
Hope you enjoy... Thank you for watching! Welcome to my kitchen!
Oh MeMe, I just found your channel. As a pastor in North Florida, you have truly blessed my heart. This reminds me of my mama and granny and the Sunday spreads we used to have. THANK YOU!!!
I’m 64 years old. My Mother and all of her family is or was from South Carolina. This is without a doubt the food that I remember. From garden to table. Spectacular food. They never used canned anything. It was always homemade.
Love everything about this! As a South Carolina boy, I am all about the rice, which we grew up eating and love most every day. This is a creative new (for me) dish, so I will definitely have to try it soon. I surely love pork chops too! You are a lovely lady, and your covered dish dinner with all the delectable and abundant sides after church is fabulous, and so much a part of my life growing up that I cherish!
You will love this! Hope you give it a try. Thank you for watching and for your sweet comment!
Oh my goodness, that's what I call a proper Sunday Supper. 😂❤ It's a pleasure to be cooking with you, Ms. Meme and Ms. Gayleen
Wow, I can’t believe your spread! I hope others brought some of this. My Mom used to make these pork chops and now I am going to make them! Thank you!
My Mom used to make this and sometimes used sausage or hamburger patties when money was tight. We loved it all.
That looks yummy. I will be making the pork chops and rice this weekend. Your countertop looks nice with all those plates of delicious food.
A true Southerner. God Bless You!
Nothing like that Southern cooking! All looks really appetizing. 😊
Hope you enjoy😋
Ms. "MeMe", I had no idea you were going to cook so many dishes. I love pork chops and rice like that, and I absolutely love Lemonade Pie. Like your daughter, I, too just retired from teaching. You are such an angel.
Thank you MeMe that looks so delicious!❤ Jesus says no one can snatch us out of his hand, thank you❤
😮 your Sunday Luncheons put my Thanksgiving dinner to shame 😆! The recipe looks simple and delicious 🤤 can’t wait to give it a try 👍🏻😁🙏
Cooking is my "love language"! I am sure your Thanksgiving buffet was delightful. The most important part is who was around your table!
Hello, how’re you doing?
Shout out to Gayleen for her excellent camera work! Everything looks great!
Oh my I made this this today and it was delicious, thank you for sharing, it’s a keeper in my recipe book
Way to go... thanks for watching!
OMG!!! That’s family reunion food!! She expecting half the town! Lucky people. That food looks glorious. God bless her and those hands that prepared that feast! 😋😋😋😋😋
Bless your heart putting out a spread like that. Anyone on the receiving end of that is truly blessed. That’s a lunch fit for a hard working hungry man. Good home cooked food, nourishing to the body. Mighty fine
Cooking is my love language!! And I really love my family. 😂
⭐️SFJ⭐️
Hi, MeMe! I just found you and this is the first video of yours that I watched. You are a delight! I can't wait to make that pork chop and rice meal. And I love the way you shine for Jesus!
Holy smokes ME ME. That is a huge spread of delicious food! I wish you and I were related. I would be over all the time. Really looks fantastic. Thanks for sharing and all your hard work preparing these phenomenal meals for your family, and friends!
Every Sunday!! Cooking is my love language!
Made your rice in the oven today. So easy and so fluffy. I’m making the pork chops and rice later today. I did add sautéed onion and used chicken broth in the rice. Tasted a fork full, yum. Finished the recipe for dinner tonight. It was a hit. So good.
How? Once rice is in pan & water added...do we put top on it? What temperature should the oven be set to? How long is it baked for? Nothing has been said at all about this... :( Thanks if you know and can help....:)
@@vitazgal9933 Yes, you put the top on. Bake at 350 for 1 hour. I was making a lot because of company coming. I used 2 cups of rice, one carton of chicken broth ( the carton held about 4 cups), and ¾ stick of butter. If you are making her pork chop recipe, I also added some sautéed onion to the rice before baking it. I like the flavor of onion in things I make.
@@jeffiebennett7134 🥰 ....Excited...ALL my questions got answered.... As I read...I was...'yes....yes...' I'm going to do that(chicken broth...onion)....You're the BEST..... I'm smiling...and so looking forward to making this...Thanks again...both MeMe....❤...of course.... and you.... Cheers !
Thank you Shine for Jesus ❤☕️🍁🍂🙌
What a beautiful buffet! These bring back family memories! I love all the side dishes! Every single one of them! Thank you MeMe!
Our pleasure!
Love this!! I make my pork chops and rice just like this! Such a good and easy recipe! Thank you for sharing your recipe and your faith❤
My Mother used to make this dish however she didn't pre cook the rice or brown the chops. She put the raw chops right on top of the un cooked rice and mushroom soup mixture. About 20 minutes before taking it out of the oven she would uncover the pan to brown the meat. This also works for Chicken.
Everything looks delicious! Thanks for sharing your recipes with us 💕
Your pork chops and rice looks so delicious along with All the other food. Thank you for sharing!
You are so welcome. Thank you for watching!
Wow! What a great spread! It all looks so delicious! Thank you for letting us into your home, God bless.
Thank you for watching!! : )
Ok that’s on my list of MeMe recipes to prepare. I’m always trying to find something that I can prepare and bake while in church. 3 hours is perfect. By the way, you look so beautiful 😍🥰 Be blessed!
Thank you so much!
Hello, how’re you doing?
You are just the sweetest. I chuckle at the end of your videos...shine for Jesus. Bless your heart.
What a kind hearted thing to do for your family & church members. I will definitely try this recipe for my family of four. Thanks for sharing. May The Creator of Grace continue to bless you forever more.🌸
Thank you!! Blessings to you as well.
I'm from South Carolina also . Love this recipe . You remind me so much of my grandma Bessie and great aunt Annie-Lou.
Great recipe, only thing I do any different, I use Pork Tenderloin instead of bones-in chops. I also add an extra can of mushroom soup spread lightly over the pork again. Always a winner meal. Thanks for sharing! God Bless!
Those pork chops look outstanding
Oh we ALWAYS had “church meat” right after Sunday church!! ☺️ Basically a beef roast, some potatoes, corn & rice with beef gravy on top!! Ohio here & people up here act strange when I say we put gravy on the rice (not sugar)! My grandpa was originally from Charleston SC so I love to say we are Southern!! You do so well on the camera & a great cook!!! ❤🥰
Gravy ALL the way. : ) You are Southern!! thanks for watching!
Mrs. MeMe, I've just started watching your videos, and I just love them. You remind me of my granny. She was always so happy in her kitchen, and she taught me a lot. It's so nice that you allow us into your home to teach an give us smiles. I hope that you have a wonderful week. GOD BLESS!
Thanks so much. Welcome to my kitchen!! God Bless you as well!
Oh my, what a lovely after church dinner. Everything looks perfect. Those eating at your table are blessed beyond measure!!
I am the blessed one!
Did someone NOT go to church in order to prepare the rest of that food, or is it 2:00 in the afternoon by this time😁?
Oh Meme. This just warmed my heart!! What a beautiful Sunday lunch you and your family are having. Have a blessed day. Just discovered you and you have really inspired me.
Welcome to my kitchen!!
I feel so blessed to have seen Mrs. Meme. A southern staple is a together grandma and then some. Praise the Lord. Shine for Jesus for real. Glory!
❤️
Love it - I grew up in N. VA as a kid and yes MeMe reminds me of my grandmother & mother and the Sunday lunch spread…..recipe looks amazing!☺️

You make me miss my grandmother, Sunday's service and the family meal that followed.
I pray your family knows what an absolute blessing you are. I bet they do. ❤
Thanks so much!!🙂❤️🙏🏻
Oh MeMe thank you so much for all you’re delicious recipes, especially the easy ways you cook them. I’ve never thought of cooking everything together in the oven , but it makes perfect sense. God blessings rain down on you and yes ma’am shine for Jesus ❤❤
You are so welcome❤️
Oh my what a spread!! Your chops and rice looks amazing!!
You remind me so much of my mom and grandma! Right down to the pear salad 😊. I have many fond memories of Sunday lunch because of them. I lear to make pork chops this way from them, and rice was always a staple in our household. I’m definitely going to try this recipe out this weekend!
Aren't memories the best!!
God Bless you my Sister! I wish you were in Washington State! Oh I could smell those pork chops with the steam rolling off! Yummy!
Thanks so much!!🙂😋 Thanks for watching and please subscribe.
Made this dish Sunday for my husband and family. It was so delicious and easy to put together. I recently found you on TH-cam and now I watch you every morning. You remind me of my Aunt Florence who always cooked big for her family. 💜
I love your videos! They remind me of simpler times, learning to cook with my grandmother, and Sunday lunches at my grandparents' home in the 1960's. (I'm a retired teacher like your daughter!) Thank you for sharing your recipes and your love of Jesus with us! You're a blessing!
Thank you for your kind words! : )
Hello, how’re you doing?
Hi Ms. MeMe. I am so thrilled that I happened upon your channel. I love baked pork chops, and I love rice. I am so eager to make your recipe. It looks so delicious!!! I have never baked the rice and pork chops together before, but it makse so much sense to do so. Thank you so much for showing us the way that it's done. Bon appetit😊
Welcome to my kitchen!!
I want to come for Sunday lunch! My grandmother would cook just like this on Sundays, and I have wonderful memories of childhood. Three families gathered every Sunday and what a spread we enjoyed. Life happens at the table! I’m so grateful to have your cookbook, MeMe! ❤️🙏❤️
Hope you enjoy it!!
Meme you bring me back in time with all the Southern ladies in my family cooking in the kitchen on Sunday after church. Granny and mom cooked just like you do. Us kids used to pick black berries and granny would make the best pie I had ever eaten ! Her iced tea was super sweet and she always said their is enough sugar in that tea to kill you! Oh I miss those days! Thank you so much meme, God bless you 🙏
Thank you!!🤭🙂❤️
I wish I had family like you. What a spread!
❤️
Me too!
I just found your channel .I love what you're doing and can't wait to view more of your episodes and recipes. GOD BLESS YOU MS MEME.
Welcome!!
You look so pretty in your church outfit! And oh my goodness! That Buffet! It reminds me of my own Mamaw's house on the holidays. You do do this every Sunday? The pork chops and rice look delicious. Thank you for showing the reveal after it comes out of the oven. I want to make this. Now I have to look up your rice baked in the oven recipe. Blessings!
Good simple recipe. And I love dishes I can fix ahead of time.
Thank you for this recipe. I love learning from older SOUTHERN people because you've had lots of practice! Can't wait to make this!
Lots of practice for sure! Thanks for watching!!

That pear salad and lemonade icebox pie made me think of my Granny. Sunday dinners are the best!
Oh what a blessing, Amen. I'm from Australia 🇦🇺 ☺️
OMG, what a delicious looking lunch/feast!
Every Sunday! : )
Oh my! I haven’t sat down to a Sunday meal like that since I was in High School! Sadly, if I were there I’d only be able to have a tiny taste of everything before I got full up! Still, I wouldn’t mind trying!! ❤
My Goodness! I made this tonight for My Wife and I. We are empty nesters so I did 1 and half cups of rice and 3 pork chops. Cooked the rice in the oven like She said! Delicious!! Thank You MeMe!
Hope you enjoy
Love you Meemee! So adorable and just plain Lovely!💗
That looks so good. Thank you for sharing your recipe.
Hope you enjoy
Looks delicious 😋
This is awesome! I haven’t seen a gathering like this in years. I miss my great grandmother so much, she was the one who brought everyone together.
We gather every Sunday after church. 😍
Oh my. What a fabulous feast to sit down with family to enjoy. Especially after Sunday church. I will try your pork chops and rice. It looked so delicious.
Hello from our farm in New Hampshire! Its a rainy day here. Your channel was a bright spot! Thank you for cooking the way my gram did. And my mom would fix pot roast before church. It was ready when we came home. The kitchen smelled amazing! I look forward to following your channel ~ Diane
Welcome to my kitchen!! Aren't memories the best!?
I like to bake my rice in the oven too, it comes out perfect every time.
Wow Meme, what a blessing you are ❤ such a labor of Love . I pray you are appreciated ❤️
That meal looked scrumptious.! It's a lot of work but when it's for loved ones it's always worth the time and effort.
This is the first video of yours that I've watched and I subscribed immediately! You put on quite a spread, MeMe! Did you make all of that?! I bet your house smells so good when you get home from church. You definitely remind me of my grandmother...she loves to cook for her family and the food is always abundant and delicious!❤
