Its been a couple of days trying to figure out exactly what bird is on my balcony garden.
At first I thought it was an olive backed sun bird. But it didn’t make any sense because I know for a fact that sun birds has a different type of nest - one that resembles a hummingbirds nest.
After digging into google I found out that these guys hast been proclaimed extinct. And that is why they do not appear on Singapore native birds list.. however I saw an article that says then ones that are around are those that has been release or escaped from the cages.
Apparently over birding brought these guys to extinction in the wild.
I am so incredibly happy that these couple has chosen my home to be their nesting place. They probably felt it was safe for them to temporarily settle here.
Also I realised that that no matter how close I am to them ( a meter away) they do not seem startled at all. These could be a manifestation of them having been adopted as pets and released to the wild later. Which makes them a little more trusting to humans.
I will be updating you guys on these couples journey.
i cant wait for the hatchlings to arrived..
    Tbc....
