Nice! This right here is exactly why I try to always say that I don’t like something or that it doesn’t work for me, as opposed to screaming at everyone about how it sucks. Lol. This works great for some people. The guy I traded mine to really digs it. I’m psyched any time someone can find what works for them.
Great channel, you put a very intelligent and in depth spin on your subject matter. Too many folks on TH-cam sound more like salespeople than technical reviewers regardless of whether they are being paid for the review or not.
Thanks for the honest feedback I also just bought one. I felt similarly to you, but I guess it was meant for use in a situation where once you’re set, you don’t need to tweak anything anymore.
For the price it’s really hard to beat. I love mine.. sure I wished the software was easier to navigate.. but for the sound you can get out of it.. it’s worth the hassle. My main issue is after you load a sound onto the actual pedal, you can’t just edit it from the software still.. you have to tweak the original and drag it back to the slot in order to make the changes. Like you said their IK captures aren’t great.. go with ToneNet ones.. that’s where it shines. Nice video .. keep up the good work!
Not being able to edit the sound in the software after it’s already on the pedal was a gripe I had too. A couple of the demos I had watched made it seem like you could do that, so I spent forever one day trying to figure that out. I do think ToneNet is the saving grace for this ecosystem. Most of the captures I got sounded good. I’m just not into captures. And thanks! Glad you liked it.
I really think some changes to the ToneX UI to make it more efficient could do wonders for this. And that’s totally possible because all they’d have to do is push out an update. And the captures do sound good. Some of them sound really really good. It just always felt a bit like a chore.
@@BMinusDemos This is the reason why brick that is UAFX Dream 65 and others sell well: no fiddling with apps and finding a good capture. It is as plug and play as it gets and gets you going as quickly as hooking up a couple of patch cables. However, the UA stuff is beyond inflexible.
@quiksilver78 Totally agree. I think that’s where something like the Walrus Audio ACS1 hits a nice sweet spot. It’s not infinitely flexible but it’s not as static as the UA stuff.
Each to their own! :) Agree with software etc. however good luck getting better sounding amp captures for that money anywhere else. 2 of these on a board running stereo amps is the real deal.
I agree with that. I think for me it just comes down to the fact that I don’t like captures. I prefer a decent model with more flexibility over and better sounding static capture. But like I said at the end, if you’re already a fan of capture technology then this is really cool.
As someone who has been switched fully over to the full fat ToneX pedal for a while now, it's the ideal backup rig for me. I use the One for a drive on my board before the big ToneX, but keep my usual favourite couple of amp profiles in it in reserve so if the full size pedal goes down, backup is right there. Plus running off a tiny USB power bank it makes the perfect little mini headphone amp for wandering around the house tucked into a pocket, haha. If you're already in the ToneX ecosystem it's a no brainer addition, but I'd certainly not want it as my only option.
I completely agree about it being a no brainer for those already in that ecosystem. I think if I played live it would have been more viable for me. I know a lot of people that dig it and the guy I traded mine to is a friend and I know he’s been digging it.

I'm a real amp guy, my Mesa Mark V:25 is all I need these days. However, after seeing and trying many of these modelors and capturing units, plugins etc, I think this one is the best bang for your buck, doesn’t sound bad minimal latency that a weaker PC could introduce with plugins (sounds abit digital, like all modeling units) but the average listener or player isn't gonna care about that and at least you don't need to pay almost 3 grand for a Quad Cortex, which sounds really underwhelming for the cost, the Nano Cortex also being stupidly priced for what it is, with promised features that never see the light of day. This at least is reasonably priced, has good features, the IK people are clearly trying to improve the software and hardware with free patches like the new FX patch that lets you have other desired effects in the chain. I just feel like if I needed something compact to model or capture, this works, and they are putting packs from brands like Mesa in which honestly sound good from what Ola Englund showcased. I really like this thing for what it is, does it scratch that real amp itch I have, no, obviously not, its like trying to compare a Ferrari to a Nissan, but, the Nissan will still get yea from point A to B, maybe not with the same overwhelming power and feel, but still gonna be a smooth enough ride for most individuals.
I love that Ferrari/Nissan analogy! For a lot of people it’s all about practicality and a Ferrari just isn’t a practical vehicle for most drivers…no matter how amazing it might be. I think a lot of people think I HATED this but I didn’t. I just wanted to point out some things other people hadn’t, things I didn’t care for.
Thanks a lot for the honest review! This really highlights things that people would run into when actually using this thing. I was considering the ToneX One for bass, but finally ordered the Zoom MS-60B+. I also would like some effects along with amp models, all in a small form-factor, but with infinite knobs and a screen for easy operation. Let's see if it fits my needs, it should arrive tomorrow. Zoom will also release a pedal specifically for impulse response, the MS-80IR+. Sure, you won't get the ToneX ecosystem with it, but easy operation, and the option to use it on battery. And they also have software to program the pedals more easily. Sadly only for iOS... Sometimes having only a few knobs and no screen doesn't mean it's easy to navigate. E. g. the Line 6 POD Express has the same issue with traditional knobs not representing the actual value, and the inconvenience of having to use an alt button to access the EQ.
I bought it to access the capture personally, it is a chore finding the right tone but going through it provides some insight on what to avoid and which to look into further. I would like the acquire the full blown rigs but space is a factor for me unfortunately. For plugins, I go with Neural DSP stuff, eventually I would like to get a modular also, maybe the Fender Tone Master.
I was kind of 50/50 on the Tone Master and then I saw Drain use it live and I was like ok, I’m very interested in this. Space is an issue for me too. And neighbors. I can’t crank an amp even if I had space for it.
I just plugged mine in this week. My birthday was on July 22. My son got it for me. Plugged it in yesterday and could not get input settings with the software. I totally agree with you… I’m a super tech heavy guy working in technology and this just made me insane With the software. Also, there’s so many people here on TH-cam that are just putting up videos that are completely useless…There are no detail videos on instruction how do you even factory reset this thing? THANK YOU 🙏
As a tech guy you know, a poor UI can hurt an otherwise killer product. I never expect perfection from a piece of gear. And I can work with a few quirks from an app/software. But this was just too much to be worth it for me. I never want to be negative, but I always want to be honest about what I’m using. Glad you liked it 👍
I bought mine about a week ago as a backup for my fly-rig which is a Line 6 HX Stomp XL. OMG! I've been going NUTS just trying to navigate my way through this software. I've been at the point of 'pulling the plug' and getting rid of the unit but I'm persevering purely because it's 'only a backup' and it's 'so damn portable'. I'm a veteran Fractal user since 2007 (still use my AxeFXIII for local gigs). The Fractal and Line 6 editing ecosystem leaves IK M in the dust. I REALLY hope they shortly release a software update which addresses the numerous issues otherwise...
It’s a shame to have something like this that’s so convenient for so many people and the thing holding it back is the user interface. For people who use any of the ToneX boxes I would love to see the UI fixed. But IK have always had terrible software. Even Amplitube sucked functionally.
I agree with most of the comments here in that I like to ToneX One for what it is and the price. I dunno..maybe if this is a pain in the arse stay away from things like the Helix etc. but it's pretty simple here. I had the full pedal for a while on my main board before I got ToneX One to take with a Boss Katana 100 for small gigs/practice/jams, etc. rather that ripping the larger ToneX box off my board every time I do those things and the sound and convenience alone is worth the small amount of coin I paid for it. It also works great as a stomp for say a TS808 or Blues/Overdrive (and having that flexibility of choice) into another amp model like an AC30 or a Twin/Super reverb, Tweed, Mesa etc. on the big pedal through a 2x2x12 stereo setup with a 1x1x12 center channel with independent effects when I take out the whole enchilada...to an...enchilada show...or something. Anyway...pretty killer here. Appreciate the video though. Cheers, bud.
I factored in the amount Id have to apend on a GPU for my PC to do my own Tonex captures in less than a weeks processing time, and decided to buy a Quad Cortex instead.. captured my Plexi, very happy.
Yes this! I originally planned to get a used Hyundai Sonata from my local dealership, but after factoring in how much I would spend on gas and drive train repairs, I decided to get a cybertruck instead. Very happy👍
nice honest review, do you think the full pedal version would would be significantly better ? im not intrested in making captures, just trying to have a variety of nice amp tones and options for home recording
Thanks! From everything I’ve heard the full sized pedal is easier to use. Much like an amp you have user facing controls as opposed to a bunch of alternate or hidden functions. From what I understand the bigger pedal doesn’t have stereo out. For something that size it just doesn’t make sense to me that it doesn’t have stereo outputs.
I haven’t had the problems you described, but you presented them in a reasonable way. The IK models are fine to me, but I’ve had better luck with Amalgam models - e.g., the Hiwatt is especially good. It’s to be expected that users will need to put some time into finding and tweaking their favorite tones, but in my experience, it hasn’t been any more difficult than working with other digital gear. Thanks for the vid.
So True. I ordered, it came and returned back in day. Cons 1. Software is extremely bad. 2. Hiss or static issue in pedal with earphones, additional pedals and computer is irritating. 3. Not able to find proper sound and not having realtime update of sound between Hardware and Software is bad. Pros 1. Small form factor Moreover, every single video out there speaks about how great the pedal is, but most of the TH-camrs are using their own IRs or provided by IK, which ultimately sounds good in the mix. They don’t speak about the cons this pedal has. It is frustrating for musicians who are on budget and buy the product, later on returning it back.! The day IK makes the software better, I might go back and buy it.
@@BMinusDemos I´ve had Tonex one and IR2 at the same time. Preferred Tonex one. Much better reverbs and more flexible than IR2. You´re stuck with 11 fixed amps on IR2 and personally I only liked two of them. Thats why I stayed with Tonex one. Software is annoying but once you´ve found a couple of captures you like: place them on tonex one and enjoy.
@MrBossei While I didn’t HATE the IR2 I did dislike it enough that I didn’t even keep it long enough to do a video on it like I did the ToneX One. I was super disappointed because I really liked the Katana and I kept hearing it was some of the same sounds. I’ve considered revisiting the ToneX software when it gets the effects update.
Any half decent multi effects unit or moderate modeller is the way to go if your'e tired of lugging around heavier gear is the way to go in most situations, at least you can tweak it on the fly too in most instances.
If I played love and was looking for a real ampless rig solution I think I’d probably end up going either HX Stomp or Walrus ACS1. I prefer the ACS1 sounds, but the HX could cover my modulation, delay, reverb and even my tuner. So it’s always a balance. What works best for the given situation.
How are you doing? All good? :) I bought Tonex One and I'm not able to configure the pedal's global equalization to make a "Low Cut - High Cut" in the Frequency Range. To limit the speaker frequencies.. Could you help me? Thanks
I haven’t had the chance to try it yet. But I want to. It does seem super straightforward. I used to have the Boss Katana and the amp models in the IR-2. I loved the Katana and the amp models it had.
@@BMinusDemosI'm interested to try the IR-2 in the efx loop of my HX Stomp. Some different amps and cabs choices; but also a way to take some load off the HX Stomp for super-effecty things.
I wad ready to sell mine but then I tried it with a 3rd party IR and WOW!!! Yes the software sucks, but turn off the cab sim and use an IR and its AWESOME!
Maybe it's just you. The Tonex One is an amazing tool. Especially for your average guitarist, it allows us to have literally thousands of amps for a few 100 bucks. Sonething we'd never have access to in the past. Like all things in life, there's a learning curve. Once learned it is pretty easy, everything has nuance. I've sold my other amps and now play through Studio Monitors with a Sub. If I gig, I'll get a Fender FR10.
Agreed. I jumped on because of the price point thinking it would be an absolute steal for what you get. It just wasn’t for me. I have a new amp solution for next week’s video that I am super psyched about!
I don't like it either, pretty much agreed with anything you said, and i like my M-Vave Blackbox way better. Most starting higher gain Amps sound really harsh on the trebles and mids, basses sound very good though, but the trebles have a coarse rattle in them, they only go away if you pair it with a overdrive or distortion in the profile. and yeah, like you also said, it just does not pair with my other fx pedals, the sound gets screwed. i also hate the software, it keeps messing with my volumes, and the clean amps are just not clean, they keep being dirty. And again like you said, the free tonex software is extremely limited to maybe max 40 captures, and only 10 sound good. And the real dealbreaker for me was when i found out you can only have a Amp+OD+Cab in it, and that's it. Kinda wished i'd saw your vid before i bought it, but i can still send it back, so i will tomorrow.
Iam getting hot on this thing. Sounds great in videos. and there are a lot of options. I like to play with sounds but i dont want a toy. for the sounds sake i tried downloading the pc app, tone x cs aaaand i hate the software so much and the sounds in the free one arent nice. I wasnt there in the software. Ill give it another try since Iam looking for a convenient way for jamming with friends but i think ill stick to preamp pedals in this case
@@BMinusDemos and the ui is most important for me, i am not a big fan ofadjusting my „amps“ with a mouse. Iam more of a touch screen guy in this regard. I dont get the feeling all is bad from your video but i have seen the points u make and know what i dont like. Iam on the fence and i think i should try it out to know if it fit my needs. But the dread of setting it up turns me down
I see what you're saying, but I think the problem is you're trying to use the tonex in order to acquire tones from amps you don't own. And then on top of it, you're not getting the sound that you want from the captures. Many, on the other hand already have tube amps and they use the toneex in order to capture their rig. This is how I use it. Most people I know that gig with it use it the same way.
To me this is what’s so interesting about gear. Its use case varies so much. I know about a dozen people using either this or the big guy regularly. None of them own the amps they’re using in ToneX. In fact, in a couple of cases the guys don’t own a single amp. Even among demoers on here it’s probably a 50/50 split. Ultimately, the sounds aren’t nearly as bad as the UI. Both the physical UI of the One and the app’s UI are definitely the worst I’ve ever used. I can’t think of one that’s worse. Now, I’m sure I could’ve gotten used to it but I never found a sound I liked enough that it was worth the effort.
I'll never capture ANYTHING. I have the big pedal version ..... for me it's a GAME CHANGER! Who needs to capture their amps? Only vintage amp owners/ collectors .... right? BUT 80% of their customers are like ME, right? My software experience has been smooth .... so far. Forget the phone app .... learn to use the panel controls. Phone controls are not reliable, don't depend on them. My big version of the pedal is midi controllable, too. Thanks B Minus!
Despite not really vibing with the One I still really want to give the big guy a try. I think people think I hated the One, but I didn’t. It just wasn’t for me.
I’ve taught guitar bass and keys for 31 years, produced 20 albums……..and worked music retail since 92. The idea that anyone could legitimately gripe about Tonex (or Kemper, or line 6, etc) is hilarious to me. I could load two captures in a Tonex One (my favorite is a glassy clean to AC/DC Astoria capture along with the same amp dimed with a tube screamer) and play a club or arena with nothing but that, a single pedal that could fit in my pocket comfortably. Put one in the loop of an HX Effects? You’ve got more horsepower than an 80s rig with three fridge sized racks. We should all have 5 of them.
My “gripe” is the user interface. Since I don’t play live the UI is 95% of how I interact with it. And captures are just so limiting really. However, if I played in a band and was looking for a specific and consistent tone I do think it’s something I’d like. It just doesn’t serve what I need.
@@BMinusDemosyou're trying to compare Tonocracy (a plugin for mixing) with a pedal meant for live playing...🤔 This doesn't make any sense. If you wanna just us Tonex as a plugin, you don't need the physical pedal to use it.
nope. I’m comparing the quality of sounds and easy of use in a completely free plugin to the quality of sounds and ease of use of a plugin and its physical counterpart from a global brand. The ToneX one doesn’t make the sounds. It just allows you to take the sounds from the plugin and make them a little more portable, and subsequently more flexible in a live setting. And tonocracy is t a mixing suite. It’s a guitar rig plugin like AmpHub from STL, Helix Native, Two Notes Genome, Softube Amp Room or any of the other IK products. These two products certainly have their differences but they are definitely worth being compared and contrasted.
@@BMinusDemos I believed captures were “limiting” also. In theory, they SEEMED limiting as they are a snapshot of a rig at a singular moment in time. However, what I e learned in PRACTICE (NOT theory) it that they are NOT limiting. When I buy a capture set from someone like tone junkie, the amp is captured in every way a typical user would possibly set the amp up. I really feel like I OWN a Marshall Astoria because of the capture pack I purchased. Sure, if I had the real amp I could use some weird extreme setting and get a different sound that I don’t currently have access to, but come on. Would I ever actually do that? No. I have been a DIE HARD line user since 2005. Tonex has won me over.
It's a workflow that defnitely takes getting used to Now i use it for bass amps and as a great IR loader after the new Zoom MS-60B+ I have ToneX MAX in my DAW to demo models and create presets. I use the standalone librarian to move presets to the pedal I do NOT use it as an audio interface I have an RME Babyface Pro for an interface I didn't like the UI either, now i'm flying with it Sadly, the librarian does NOT run on iOS Probably never will I love ToneX One now
It really works for a lot of people. I ended up trading this to a friend of mine and to the best of my knowledge he’s really digging it. I’m not a bass player and so I don’t have a lot of specific tones I’m looking for, so it actually would’ve worked fine for me in bass as well. I could’ve found one sound and just never touched the software again lol
Yeah i agree that the software and workflow is designed terribly. Not to mention the input gain issues with changing it depending on the guitar. I dont agree that "its not great." Its one of those things where its amazing at some things and terrible at others. Once you have explored all your captures and they are all downloaded, just leave it. I love it and i think its brilliant despite the issues, now that i have all the sounds i would ever want on it. I havent had to tinker with it too much once i got my sounds. The sound quality as it relates to other products is just far superior, even products over 1000. The software will get better over time. But averaging the problems it has versus the pros is not an accurate picture of the product.
It works really well for some. I traded it to a buddy and he really digs it. But captures just aren’t my thing. I keep trying but just haven’t been able to get them to fit in my workflow. As I said, that’s not saying they’re bad, they just don’t work for me. But I keep trying. Maybe one day I’ll find one that changes my mind.
@rethinktone I’m not super picky with authenticity. Many of these amps I haven’t played in years or maybe have never played. It’s be like me judging the authenticity of food type I’ve never had. I just don’t have the knowledge base to make that call. But what I can judge is whether or not I enjoy playing it. That’s always my primary focus. I never ask “is this perfect”, I ask “do I like this”.
@BMinusDemos yeah I haven't played a real marshal plexi. But I played the hx stomp version of it and I was not a fan of the sound. It felt lifeless. But if you haven't run into that issue makes your life way easier. I have to configure my hx effects with my tonex through midi, which is super annoying.
It’s like I said, it’s all about preference. I think the capture technology is probably this things strongest aspect…I just don’t like captures. Also someone like Pete goes for a VERY different than I would ever use. But this is true for analog gear as well. Some guitar players dream of owning a Dumble. For me, its only value would be that I could sell it and buy something I’d actually use lol. ToneX isn’t bad (although the user interface is pretty rough), it just isn’t for me.
I promise you, my personal harder tones are already eating most of the known types for a snack... a couple of them have been in touch asking for the how did I achieve such, they know I'm their wet dream come true if I revealed it.
The inability to tweak properly from the get go was an absolute no brainer, like you mentioned the captures being availed themselves are just too hit and miss even from a same amp, it's cumbersome and not streamlined and besides if you can't develop a personalised tone as a player, then you've become a sheeple is all.
Where captures would make sense for me is if I played in a band and the only thing I needed was the album tones. Then this is actually a really good option. The minor adjustability would help you sleep a consistent sound from venue to venue without drastically changing your tone. But not everyone is in that scenario.
@@BMinusDemos I like the 'signature sounding tones' of lots of the usual suspects most times, but for me replicating such is a just downright cheesy in most instances, I'm more old school in that regard and any tone in my ears instead ought to be personalised to fit the player and their playing style as first cab off the ramp in all circumstances....particularly when live gigging.
@LIKEFUNK By signature tones do you mean the baked in presets? These are a straight miss on every single piece of gear I’ve used. It’s usually an AC/DC, a Clapton, GNR, Hendrix, etc. Rarely is it anything even remotely useable for me.
@@BMinusDemos I mean the presets themselves as standard from the factory eprom are not generic as a whole, they are toned as best they can only to lure the buyer into the game they are playing, they already know most of the market they are aiming at are not astute enough to sense the matter of achieving great standard default-building block tone, their entire market is aimed at suckering the unexperienced into going for 'idol' or idolatry wanna-be type examples is all.
I agree with this. I genuinely appreciate what it represents. And I actually like that not every company approaches digital amp solutions in the same way. That gives people the flexibility to find what works for them, just like with physical gear. I do think that just like with any other piece of technology, poor UI can be the biggest hurdle even for good tech.
@@alfianbanjaransari4096 being able to load as many captures as you want, having a screen, being able to quickly and easily adjust parameters, etc. There's no difference in sound, but the Tonex one is just so much more difficult to use.
you told the bad side of this pedal thank you. im not a computer guy and digital really doesnt work for me ive had tubes and analog gear since 1978 and im not very good with the digtal stuff. I like digital gear i have a pod go which is great in no amp siuations, but this sounds like something i really dont want thanks again
@11:20. Nothing inspiring? The profiles are 100% representation of a particular rig (DI amp, amp+cab, booster+amp+cab, etc etc) But, if you never played a real rig, then you don't know how it supposed to sound in the first place. What amazes me is this: people not understanding the reason behind having a pedal like this - for $180 you'll have 2 of your own amps captured (or a capture you like that was made by someone else) , and then play on stage with it. This isn't an amp modeler, it's a pedal to load your profiled amps, not to spend hours playing with knobs like you're doing it with a modeler.
I’m relatively new to modelers. Just the last couple of years. I’ve owned a bunch of stuff over the years. Tube and solid state. Head/cab and combos. And this thing is way more than just a way to play your profiles on stage. Another huge component is using it as an interface. It’s not a one dimensional piece of gear. And it just doesn’t hit on all fronts. Nothing does. But also, I don’t know if you noticed but I didn’t say this sucks. I said I didn’t really like it and that it’s not for me. But I’m not on here to gargle these brands. I highlighted some things that a lot of the paid reviews weren’t addressing. If it works for you that’s awesome. It just wasn’t for me.
Junk, bought one brand new. Paid for. Didn't open it for a couple months. Didn't have a computer.. I go online to register it and get the software and was denied said it was alrwady registered. Don't buy this junk it's a door stop for me. Sits there useless. It's thee larger pedal. No response fro IKEA to help me with it. It came brand new from a well known online store. It isn't transferable you buy bit you own it and if someone ourates your serial number your screwed and stuck with a door stop.. I cannot say enough bad about IKEA and their lack of support and help. They don't care they got their money... You don't matter.
This is 1000% not correct. I get being upset because it didn’t work right for you but what you’re saying isn’t true. I had the same issue with the serial number. All it took was a couple of emails to IK (not IKEA - that might be your issue, lol) and it was fixed. And I mention this in the review. I didn’t keep this. I traded it to a friend. He had the same issue at first. But again, a couple of emails with IK support and it was all fixed. I literally hate everything about this comment. Being so viciously negative because you can’t figure out how to get something to work is a MAJOR thumbs down. This is a common issue and should’ve been solved by IK long ago. But this energy ain’t it.

A lot of times for me simplicity wins over endless options. I definitely appreciate the simplicity of the Zoom stuff.
A very good review !
Keep it up !
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 👍
I bought it to access the capture personally, it is a chore finding the right tone but going through it provides some insight on what to avoid and which to look into further.
I totally agree with you…
I’m a super tech heavy guy working in technology and this just made me insane With the software.
Very happy👍
@@HububkiFilms Did you factor in how large the dent to your credibility will be?
nice honest review, do you think the full pedal version would would be significantly better ? im not intrested in making captures, just trying to have a variety of nice amp tones and options for home recording
@@BMinusDemos yea i agree, for having so many functions not having stereo out is disappointing.
I did like the Amalgam Hiwatt. And it liked some of Kyle Bull’s stuff too.
So True.
I ordered, it came and returned back in day.
Cons
1. Software is extremely bad.
2. Hiss or static issue in pedal with earphones, additional pedals and computer is irritating.
3. Not able to find proper sound and not having realtime update of sound between Hardware and Software is bad.
Pros
1. Small form factor
Moreover, every single video out there speaks about how great the pedal is, but most of the TH-camrs are using their own IRs or provided by IK, which ultimately sounds good in the mix.
They don’t speak about the cons this pedal has.
It is frustrating for musicians who are on budget and buy the product, later on returning it back.!
The day IK makes the software better, I might go back and buy it.
I think for a few dollars more the Boss IR2 might be a better option. I’m looking to get my hands on one right now and give it a shot.
Thanks
Unfortunately isn’t something I have any experience with and I didn’t keep it long enough to figure out things like that. Sorry.
What about the Boss IR-2? Have you tried it?
It seems much more straightforward and to the point for a single pedal doing amps and sims.
What’s your go-to third party IRs? I’ve always really liked Own Hammer but there’s so much good stuff out there
@@BMinusDemos celestion!
The full size one has rave reviews I don’t see why this needed to be a thing
Agreed. I jumped on because of the price point thinking it would be an absolute steal for what you get. It just wasn’t for me. I have a new amp solution for next week’s video that I am super psyched about!
Because the big version will not fit in the top left corner of my primary pedal board.
Size and price.
I know there have been some updates that a lot of people like but it still just isn’t my thing.
I love mine for live, going in the fx loop of the hx stomp, but the software is absolutely horrendous.
It definitely isn’t bad. I don’t like it. And it’s not for me. But it doesn’t suck. Well, the UI definitely sucks. But otherwise it’s fine.
Any device with presets and/or multiple functions per knob should have endless encoders as mandatory requirement by law.
@@BMinusDemos the big guy is legit😋
But…as I said 37 times, this isn’t bad. It just isn’t for me. With something like Tonocracy which is 100% free, ToneX just doesn’t make sense for me.
@@BMinusDemosyou're trying to compare Tonocracy (a plugin for mixing) with a pedal meant for live playing...🤔
This doesn't make any sense.
Thanks for your honest opinion. Many influencers are sponsored and therefore there demos are skewed. Thanks again.
That’s always my goal. I never want to trash something, but if it doesn’t work for me I want to talk about why and hopefully that helps others 👍
It's a workflow that defnitely takes getting used to
Now i use it for bass amps and as a great IR loader after the new Zoom MS-60B+
I have ToneX MAX in my DAW to demo models and create presets.
I use the standalone librarian to move presets to the pedal
I do NOT use it as an audio interface
I have an RME Babyface Pro for an interface
I didn't like the UI either, now i'm flying with it
Sadly, the librarian does NOT run on iOS
Probably never will
I love ToneX One now
It really works for a lot of people.
@BMinusDemos yeah if you're not picky with authenticity I can see why modelers and plugins would be better.
Ive got a fat American bulldog right next to me.
Don’t have a reason not to believe you, Tho I wonder why someone like Pete Thorn is adding one of this to his board and that dude knows tone.
Made it to end of intro and totally agree! The software and setup is terrible.
Lol this thing is a marvel of technology, would have to be pretty jaded not to appreciate that
I agree with this. I genuinely appreciate what it represents. And I actually like that not every company approaches digital amp solutions in the same way. That gives people the flexibility to find what works for them, just like with physical gear. I do think that just like with any other piece of technology, poor UI can be the biggest hurdle even for good tech.
Full size pedal is just so much better, in my experience.
Why so if I may ask?
@@alfianbanjaransari4096 being able to load as many captures as you want, having a screen, being able to quickly and easily adjust parameters, etc.
There's no difference in sound, but the Tonex one is just so much more difficult to use.

@11:20. Nothing inspiring? The profiles are 100% representation of a particular rig (DI amp, amp+cab, booster+amp+cab, etc etc)
But, if you never played a real rig, then you don't know how it supposed to sound in the first place.
You'll only be playing someone else's a.i. snapshot...give it a very wide miss.
I had one and returned it. The software is bad to deal with. It was cumbersome. I spent more time fiddling than playing and that's never good.
