Jamie Thomas is a super nice dude. Back in 2010 Zero had a demo where I live in Kansas. I got to the demo early, so my friends won’t have to rush to get me and my wheelchair out of the car. We parked in the accessible parking space and the Zero van was parked right next us. I had brought a board to the demo with the intention of having Jamie sign it, but that plan changed once Jamie saw the board. I had a “Chomp On This” Zero board I’d had since 2002 and Jamie’s face lit up when I showed it to him. “You have a Chomp board?… I don’t even have one of those!… would you be down for a trade?” is what he said to me. I had something Jamie, the owner of the brand didn’t even have and I have visions of boxes of shoes, cloths and boards coming my way, but I decided not to be greedy and traded the Chomp deck for a shirt for me and my friends and a tour board. Not the best trade ever, but I’m happy with it. After I found my spot at the demo, Jamie brought me some pizza and pop and then asked to see the tour board I got in the trade. He signed it and then walked away with it. I was like “WTF?”. About an hour later, Jamie brought back my tour board and it had been signed by the entire team. I couldn’t believe Jamie spent all that time doing something that nice for me. I spent the rest of the demo hanging out and talking shit with Dane Burman, Elissa Steamer and Tommy Sandoval. It was the best day ever. Two days later I was in a coma and when I came too, Jamie when check up on me through Instagram.
Another cool thing is my Chomp board (the one I traded to Jamie) was taken all over the country as part of Zero’s 20th. anniversary tour/art show. I was pretty stoked seeing my board on display and enjoyed by other Skateboard Nerds like myself. Zero came to Kansas City on that tour. Unfortunately I couldn’t go because I was recovering from my second coma. I need to ask Jamie not to come to Kansas anymore, I’m tired of being in comas. Haha!

About 20 years ago, I bought a Zero board and it snapped within a few days. I was big into gaps at the time and I was pretty upset that it broke so quickly. Being an angry teenager...I sent the board to Zero and sent a letter complaining about the quality. Jamie signed a board, "Barry, you need to work on your landings. - J.T." and sent it to me within a few days. I was blown away. Like an idiot, I skated it right away and didn't save it, but to this day I appreciate the personal touch he put into customer satisfaction.

@@JustTooManyPuppies it’s honestly one of my most cherished memories from a time period where skateboarding pros were exploding onto the scene, new companies being formed, and guys like J.T. And Ed Templeton really built the industry up to incredible heights. Ah, the late 90’s and early 2000’s man, it was amazing to be a teenager at the time.

He ollied the biggest double set of stairs at a school next to Belconnen skatepark. Absolutely no run-up and he nailed it first or second go. As far as Zero boards go though: I once bought that three bloody skulls deck when I was about 14, and snapped it doing an ollie over a bush in some parking lot. lol, I know it probably wasn't the board's fault (same thing happened to an Element deck of mine [bigger ollie though]), but I still see it as some kind of bad juju and keep away from that company when buying future boards.
"Dying to Live" was my first introduction to Zero, outside of the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series, and what an awesome video it was! John Rattray, Ryan Smith, Chris Cole, and Jamie Thomas' parts were mind blowing.

    - I recently rewatched Ride the Sky. Which was an absolute favorite growing up. And I honestly think it’s one of the most underrated videos ever made. Chris Coles part above reproach. Tommy Guns is amazing. Billy Marks is a favorite. Rewatch it my friend.
And to your remark on it not being tech..
Chris coles first trick is a back 180 nose grind switch big heel flip out.

I remember your old channel! Used to watch it back in 2007. I was a big fan of Rodney Mullen (still am) and I wanted to learn how to do freestyle tricks, E.G. Walk the Dog. So your channel's trick tips were helpful. I wonder if I wrote a comment with my old channel.

One thing they should of put in there was just like toy machine zero and fallen lost quite a bit of pros right before fallen closed it's doors as well

Looking at the Garage Days Collection, the question that begs is, "What the fuck happened to skateboard graphics?!" They used to be so gnarly; nowadays graphics are fucking lame, like they should be hanging on the wall at the Contemporary Museum of Boredom. Now I can look through hundreds of decks over several skateshops and only find a few of them somewhat interesting, and every skater is just riding a boring logo deck, like BAKER, or some other tablecloth of a graphic - yeah, that'll motivate me to kickflip a 10-stair or nut myself on a handrail.
