2022 2023 2024 Subaru WRX VB Brake Pads Brake Rotors Brake Kits
In this video we review the brakes on the 2022 and newer VB WRX and discuss options for upgrading them. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
Definitely interested in the results of the Z32 caliper testing 👍
Same.
Glad to see this, I've been trying to figure out my VB's brake situation for a while now!
Ken dropping knowledge again. The man knows brakes.
Came across this randomly and I'm so glad I did I can't wait to see what packages you will offer to upgrade the vb brakes
Definitely interested in this, can’t afford to drop 3k on a kit rn
This is super interesting for the daily driver folks that want a better caliper experience with upgraded pads without paying $3-5k for a BBK.
Where can I get the brackets for the z32 calipers
When i saw this 1:40 pad/design implementation it spoke to me "probably weak master/management/balance/feel" idk when theres aspects of "cheaping out" it always means almost an instant/out of the box upgrade/necessity post purchase....esp if you already had come from a high performance/background WRX heading into that generation...or others. What i find hard to understand is that subaru has a cult following and aspects of reliability on the road from a performance/predictability standpoint which is why im surprised they cheaped out on the brakes for this gen wrx and even the BRZ...into something that necessitates new lines/fluid/pads at the least....and BBK/rotors and master at most to be ideal. The implications of brake falure or a lack of consistency/expectation yields on the road/under harsh conditions....would generally YIELD the opposite of the following/industry standard subaru has layed out for their customers/consumers. Even right down to sti/transmission/gear swaps etc for the true purists/enthusiasts that seek the true ceiling of what subaru's potential/can offer. Even now offering "collectable trim" packages that offer brembos XD as like a near 10,000$ premium factory/at signing. Is pretty insulting to their heritage. VS proving theyre out to "compete" with modern "industry" standards and consumer/index oriented metrics....and platforms. VS standing on the principle of being able to offer a flat/boxer platform with would be reliability and calculated/expectations of performance....esp under harsh/hard driving conditions.
only thing that would have made this better would links to purchase the items to upgrade. but thaks!
We will add them ASAP. Upgrade kits are 99% done - just need hardware. Thx for watching
Damn Ken, getting finer with age! Nice video!
Would you please add to the description the calipers and rotors detailed information and where to get them online? Seems like a reasonable priced upgrade 🙏👏.. would you say this brakes equivalent to the va sti ?
Cant wait to see what you have coming up! This channel is a gem thanks!
Yes, finally, an option for a daily. I've been waiting for this. Bring the next video please🙏
This is exactly what ive been looking for looking forward to seeing your result an what you come up with cause the stock brakes suck an i need to figure out something before i tune the car
LOL, funny this video just came out the day I'm painting my 4pot/2pot 2007 wrx brakes for my 04 forester. Can't wait to see what you guys think of the upgrade!
Hey is there anyway you could provide some more information on how to adapt the larger brake calipers from the Nissan z32 to the VB WRX
Very interesting video quick question. what's the bracket part number or name that you are gonna use for the nissan 4 piston calipers in this video? i would like to try this on my vb wrx
We'll have it on our site in the next few days
Please do the z32 brakes!!!!!
Thanks for the history lesson and it gave me a much better understanding on the stock brakes. I'm new to the WRX and car modding in general. I feel the stock brakes are too soft, with very little feel/control. What would you recommend for me, as I would never track or autocross the car, just weekday commuting and weekend spirited driving on some back-roads? Thanks!
There are some decent brake pad options that can help quite a bit dpending on your tolerance for brake dust and noise. Pedal response is improved but yes they will still be a bit soft. We're going to do the caliper upgrade very soon to hopefully help with that
For specific advice please contact us via email to info@knsbrakes.com
@KNSBrakes do you have an update as to when the upgraded z32 caliper and hardwares parts are going to be available on your site? Thanks in advance. Mainly looking for the Z32 caliper adapters
I just need to confirm fitment this week and order hardware so within a week
@@knsbrakes608 ok thanks...looking forward to this
Excellent knowledge! Subscribed 😊
More info on the z32 caliper where can we get the bracket can we see a short install ? Thanks for the knowledge !
Will you guys be doing any testing on the new TR knuckles to see if it opens up more options without using a weird rotor?
I just put raybestos coated rotors and akebono proact pads on my wifes crv, and those brakes feel WAY better than whatever crap came on my new vb. Embarrassing! LOL
The Subaru 4 pots upfront. You mentioned they were not very good. Were you referring to the 2015 to 2017 STI 4 pots when you said that? (As that's the route I was going to go on my VB, just hadn't worked out rotors yet or any spacers needed etc. not opposed to having a bigger rotor setuo if you offered it. I don't like doing the hib drilling stuff like witj Cadillac calipers. .i was also looking at things like alfa 6 pots + 4 pots (adapter needed obviously).
I was talking about the Subaru 4 pots from the 2006 WRX (and older JDM WRX's) They go on that older small rotor so not much use on track. Still a good rally set up though.
@@knsbrakes608 Yeah, fantastic for under smaller rally rims :) The part that's causing issues with VB's in particular seems to be the different spacing setup of the disks, meaning you likely will require spacers with STI 2015 to 2017 Fronts, or with STI 2018 to 2021 fronts. Potentially even needing a spacer behind the disk to align it correctly with the caliper :(
I did the z32 upgrade. I'm wondering can you put 30 mm VA rotors instead of the 28mm vb ones?
The rotor offset is differnt so you cannot.
Any idea when that bracket will be available?
Same rear rotors as a Legacy GT? I just happen to have an extra set of rears (KNS653) for my 2006. Does that fit or is it 2010+ Legacy?
Def interested in a reliable safe option thats not 3k
What are the part numbers for those calipers from Rock Auto? I'd like to purchase them all if they're $150/each remanufactured. $600 for calipers, $900 for the DBA rotor kit with Hawk pads, and I have the G2 enamel paint kit in my garage = so for $1,500 I can get a mini BBK? I'm sold. What are the part numbers please?
I looked them up by car. 91 300ZX Turbo - make sure you get the AL ones, and 2006 WRX rear
@knsbrakes608 YOUR TELLING ME THERES NO BETTER BANG FOR YOUR BUCK CALIPERS OUT THERE THAT ARE NOT 30+ YEARS OLD? I MEAN I BOUGHT A Z32 BRAKE UPGRADE FOR MY 240SX BACK IN 2007..I FIGURED SOMETHING BETTER WOULD BE OUT BY NOW FOR COMPARABLE PRICING..EITHER WAY I NEED BETTER BRAKES SUBARU DROPPING MORE BALLS THAN NBA CHEERLEADERS.
@@beaches2mountains230 30+ years old design doesn't bother me. Functional engineering design doesn't age out imo. Factor in the simple fact that this is the easiest caliper only upgrade. Is it the best available 30 years later? No, and we're not pretending it is. But... if I'm replacing my OEM pads anyway, but keeping my OEM rotors (which is my exact situation at the moment) and I'm not interested in spending $3k+ on a BBK for all four corners.... I could be convinced to upgrade the calipers at the same time for another $500 total. And it's less than that at current RA prices shipped. So yeah I would love to do this.
why did they make the pad smaller but keep the rotor the same size on the new wrx? oof. the current WRX is such a let down in so many ways.
I don't see it on the site I want to order this
Coming soon - I have a reace weekend first.
The stock brakes are really bad. The car is too quick not to have better stopping power.
I changed the brake pads to EBC red stuff and got way too much squealing for a dialy driver.
So I bought a vented and slotted rotor with brake pads, and the brake pedal feel is much improved with better stopping power. Plus there's no squealing.
If i had enough money I would have bought a big brake kit, with new lines, rotors and pads, but my kit is sufficient for now. Hopefully the TR brakes will be a direct fitment/upgrade!
