I gotta say my expectations were really low after watching the video. It just looked so simple. Yet I gotta say it was refreshing and I was pleasantly surprised to see such lucid instructions. I saved precious 500 rs that some technician was gonna charge me for it. Kudos Acer Support 👍
This is an unusually clear instructional video. It will really help when my recently order Acer laptop arrives. Particularly value the section on how to install your OS on the M.2 drive.
I upgraded my Acer Nitro 5 yesterday with an M.2 NvMe SSD, thanks to your step by step tutorial. However, two things as stated in the video did not happen during my upgrading process: 1. After installing the SSD onto the laptop, i went into bios to set the boot priority (as stated @4:12) only the bootable USB stick showed up and the new M.2 drive did not show up in the boot priority order. However I clicked enter and I was able to install window onto new M.2 NvMe SSD. 2. After installing windows onto my M.2 NvMe SSD, windows was not able to able to detect the hard disk I had removed during the upgrading process. The hard disk also was not showing in disk management. However, I was able to fix the issue by going to device manager and then onto other devices and under that my hard disk was visible with a (!) sign. I right clicked on it and selected update driver. Windows updated the driver. After that went into disk management. At the bottom part the hard disk was visible. I Right click on the hard disk and selected new simple volume, and assigned a drive letter and voila the hard disk was up and running. I made this post to help anyone who is looking to upgrade or may have faced similar issues during the upgrade process. Hope this helps and thanks to acer for the video. Cheers guys ✌
mine acer swift 3 sf315-51g 128gb ssd/1tb hdd i want to upgrade my ssd ,i am confusing whether my laptop support m2 nvme or not help me plz i tried every where regarding this issue ,i even call customer care nothing worked
Thanks so much for this comment! Saved my upgrade. I was not sure what to do, had the same issue (SSD undetected) and just pressed enter. Works perfect!
May I ask you a question? When changin the HDD for a M.2, I have to format the hdd? I read somewhere that the computer can't process thw two units if both have windows installed.
I thought that my Acer was good only to throw it out the window, but after installing SSD NVMe following this video everything changed. No more 100% disck/CPU issue. Thank you, Guys. Awesome.
Hi, do you know if acer aspire e15 e5-576-34kz support this upgrade? I have a screw in place there but someone told me my laptop don't support this upgrade so do you know?
Just did this, seems to work fine. If anyone is trying to do this just know that when you get the m.2 sata ssd, the port on the laptop may look like it is a nvme drive instead of sata. Your data m.2 drive will still be fine, you may have to put a bit of force when installing the drive, you should hear a click. The laptop will recognise the drive in the boot order. Thanks for the video.
Very well done. It takes a while but it’s the only way of replacing the hard drive for a ssd etc . Unfortunately I had to watch a few others with their absolute 100% failure methods before I found this one that is clearly explained and 100% bloody works . 👍👍👍🤗
This model laptop uses sata M.2 so it wont be faster than a 2.5 ssd. You can see at 3:15 the M.2 ssd has 2 notches in it. So I dont think an NVME ssd would even fit and if it did would not get the NVME speeds. It would still be much faster than the HDD. I was hoping to find that information in this video but found it elsewhere. Nice instructional video. I have heard the screw is usually not installed in most models so anyone planning on doing this will probably need a screw to hold the M.2 ssd.
Wow, one of the most informative vids I have seen. Not rushed through as if even novices like me is expected to understand. This wa calm, collected and clear. I am now a subscriber.

Thanks Acer a local pc fixer wanted $200 to do this exactly. the laptop was slow from get go , got in '17. and he felt the HD hard drive was the issue. Followed this vid to t and walla! I purchased aGEN 4 500 GB M2 SSD drive which was probaly going to be better than shop would use.
Bro, the storage used on your hard disk must be lower than the 256gb . I hve this same problem before, what I do is clear up my hard disk until it reaches 100gb by transferring it somewhere else. The point here is that, if your ssd is 256 gb, your hard disk storage used must be lower than 256gb
I followed this instructions exactly, and the new SSD is working fine. I also finally figured out how to then reinstall and access the original hard drive. It now shows up as a D drive. However, all the data files I had on the original hard drive are not there anymore, particularly thousands of photos I had. All that appears on the original hard drive are various Windows and Program files. Anythoughts ?
Can u please a video on how to physically clean this unit. I want to clean my laptop's fan and renew it's thermal paste but I don't know how to remove things safely.
Guys i encountered a problem..i did how it was demonstrated in this video..but then my ssd is working fine..but hdd is showing in bios but not on windows..Any clue?..Thanks in advance
I am following step by step your instruction, but after the "Delete all" option is selected, it start running the process and after 1% is complete a message appears saying "there is a problem resseting your pc. no changes were made". Any clue of what could be the problem?
I have the same computer and this is exactly what I'm trying to do. Can I use this method or do I need to create and download Windows Media creation tool? Then transfer on a USB thumb drive and then install it that way? The computer is brand new. I don't have anything on it yet.
Followed every step but File explorer cannot detect old hdd. It doesnt show up on disk management nor on device manager. But it does show up on bios with “Windows Boot Manager” on the left side, same as yours.
What type( m.2 or nvme m.2 ) of ssd will support my Acer aspire 5 A515-52G-51RM Please reply. As you are the manufacturer so you should know about it's features
Nice and an informative video but I got a problem here. My pc can recognise the new ssd memory(if I go to >> my pc I can see both of these memories: hdd and the new ssd) but it doesn't appear in the boot priority list . So, when I'm trying to install my windows from the flash, the installation fails.
You have to take out your old HDD, plug in the USB windows drive. Boot the USB drive, for me, I had to delete everything on my ssd, then it allowed me to install Windows on it.
Will the files in the hdd stay if removed? I mean, will they not be deleted? Coz I plan on transferring everything there before removing it hoping they will stay and can be used once installed back

From my little experienced, brand does not matter as long as u get both of the ram with the same speed. If u add a higher speed ram (e.g 2666Mhz), it will not get to it full potential if ur existing ram is 2400Mhz. The new ram will operate at only 2400MHz
