I have both of these drills , I’ve always used milwaukee but i came across the skil drills and picked them up, the 12v impact is an absolutely great drill , lots of power for a 12v and the halo light is awesome for visibility. Just the fact that its being compared to a Milwaukee fuel tool lets you know it is a great product

Glad that SKIL continues to improve with every generation of their tools. Another plus for me is the SKIL, like most other 12v platforms is they stand-up on even 2Ah battery pack, the same as DeWalt, MAKITA, Hilti...

The Skil won because it uses a heavier lower RPM hammer. This is why the torque delivery is more immediate. If your working on your car, the Skil's hammer is best for loosening bolts. If driving screws into wood, the higher RPM of the M12 is the better option for those users.

I came across a set of these skil tools at lowes last night while I was looking for an oscillating tool. The whole set, impact, drill, multitool, speaker and light was only $100, and it came with two 2.0 amp batteries and a charger. I think I did good.
That deal is great. Bought it myself a couple years ago.

I know Jack squat about drills and a lady at Lowe’s recommended Skil to me. I was skeptical because I’d never heard of them and thought it might be a cheap import that would break down, but she said it was good and had a lot of power.
I was blown away by this drill! It’s awesome! The halo light is great and it’s just way beyond what I thought. If it’s being compared to Milwaukee, they’re doing something right!

Interesting test - great job, very thorough. However, I have one quibble. I don't really care how much power the drill is drawing from the battery. I care if it has the torque, RPM and power to get the job done. I own both Skil and Milwaukee tools. I own the Milwaukee 12V impact that you have tested, at it will take lug nuts off my truck that have been torqued to 112 ft-lbs. It also was faster than Skil in your screw test. While I am impressed with the Skil in your tests, I really only care about real-world performance. I am skeptical that the Skil will put out more torque than the Milwaukee. The Milwaukee M12 impact is a beast - it has a shocking amount of raw power and speed. And the speed of the tool is important to me in the real world, even if there is only a slight difference, that the M12 is faster.
It's easy to do non-real-world tests and claim a winner, and I get it; the Skill is $20.00 cheaper. But I would like to see if the Skill can take lug nuts torqued to 112 ft-lbs off my truck. Or if it can loosen the 19 mm bolts on the upper and lower control arms of my truck. I KNOW the M12 impact can do it because I just replaced the suspension on my truck and I had to loosen the front shock control arms in order to be able to get the old shocks out and the new Eibach 2.0 coil-over shocks in.
Still, you did a great job in this video, and I upvoted you - you deserve a world of credit for the high quality of this video. Skil makes great tools. Their Skil 77 worm-drive saws are legendary, and for two decades, they were THE saw that framing professionals used to frame buildings. So, I am not surprised that this Skil impact competes well with the Milwaukee M12. Both are high-quality tools.
Great video. I love the test setups. A few questions, the Skil has a lower RPM, does that translate to more torque compared to the Milwaukee based on these results? If the job is torque limited Skil has the win. If it is speed limited Milwaukee has the win. Does that seem correct?
Also use =ROUND(NUMBER,1) for all your calculations when the numbers are small. It will make your chart easier to read and make for better comparison. Keep up the great work!

Love skil as they make some quality tools that punch above their price point…been using a skil 10 inch table saw with zero complaints (minor) especially for a saw I paid 250 for, but I bought into m12 and m18 before skill started to expand. I think skill is a great choice for a home owner diy, and maybe some trades too. I think their warranty is good as well and they stand behind it

Don't get people confused this is the gen 2 12v skil the first version was gs4bage the new skil 12v are some the most comfortable tools I've used
I have a lot of Milwaukee tools and also a lot of skil tools. Both are the best of power tools.
Well, I have the M12 FUEL hex driver. I keep it at home cause it's more useful to my hobby(Woodworking)than my profession(a heavy duty body repair man.).
It's not unusable, but it's Max RPM is a bit too much for small fasteners when you ideally want to keep all your pieces in same zip code. Using one of the reduced speed settings does help, but even at full strength, it doesn't quite have the umth I'm used. I do indeed LOVE the small package but for a 12v hex driver to replace my old reliable 18v hex driver, I truly want less RPMs and more balls. I'm also a bit of tool slut, so I don't care so much for which platform the replacement for my current brushed 18v RYOBI hex driver comes from, nor am I concerned with whether it's a 12v, 18v, or whatever. I'm already also on Milwaukee M18 platform as well, that does carry some weight in the decision, but if the tool comes a battery and a charger for less coin than I can get an M18 FUEL, then I'm more than a little curious.😎🤓🤠
The torque test Channel on TH-cam is always complaining about how their Milwaukee M12 and 18s are always burning up during their tests

What is the endurance of these machines in the real world? I mean, are they rugged or broken after two weeks on the job site?

AH makes no diff in torque unless the batts are depleted. Amp hours is like how much fuel you have in your fuel tank not your engine hp. The small diff you see in 100psi is the voltage drop. If add a tesla 200ah battery at 12v it wont make more torque than your fully charged 4ah.
What's the point of having a 12-volt tool if you still have a big ass battery hanging off of the bottom? That is what I think and if I need more power I use a full-sized 18v or 24V tool. The whole point of using a 12-volt is to save space and have the ability to get in tight spots. So I stick with the cylinder-shaped batteries for my 12-volt tools.

The only point for me is that i can set it down on a flat surface and have it easily grabbed up for use when i am in a tight spot which is the whole point of me owning 12v drivers. I love the form factor of the milwaukee but sometimes have a small space on a ladder or inside a cabinet that a stand up driver really becomes stupidly convenient. I cant have them hanging off my belt. The guy that also responded to this comment said for him he has less fatigue on the balanced battery setup for his smaller than average hands.
My buddy bought a skill half inch impact last week. It wouldn't even loosen lug nuts on his Ford Focus. He returned it, and bought a Harbor Freight "Hercules". It even beats the Milwaukee in power.
What skil has over Milwaukee is that they got tools that Milwaukee does not have yet.

They do not, that’s ridiculous! You obviously don’t have a clue what tools Milwaukee has or doesn’t have. They only thing that Skill 12 volt tools have over Milwaukee is a feature…not even a tool. It’s the battery power port, enabling the battery to act as a power bank.
Okay, let’s get started…. What tools does skill have targeting verticals, e.g. automotive, woodworking, metal working, plumbing, electrical, lighting, laser level, inspection cameras
What you get from Skil is a base product offering of drills and saws. What you won’t find are any of the specialty tools and in most cases the performance you will find with Milwaukee.
Did you even watch the video? You obviously didn’t because he addresses the expansive Milwaukee tool lineup.
@@martylucas8557 I did and I own both lines. I know how extensive the m12 line is, but every now and then they are missing a key tool you wish they had or improved on. Would love m12 to have a right angle impact driver or a brushless nailer palm that is more compact. Just these tools alone have saved me a lot pain in construction. The best part about them is that they are inexpensive to own.

Who buys 12 volt?
I just bought a slew of M12 drills, drivers, a multi tool, recip saw, jigsaw and a couple M18 tools as well. There is VERY little difference in power and speed between the 2 platforms, I tested with drilling and driving 1/2" lags in a 4x4. M12 is SOLID and I am extremely happy with them. The M18 tools I purchased were only because they were not offered in the M12 platform (RO sander, compact router, and the M18 blower is actually way better than the 12 volt)
A few years ago I was like naaaaa that Milwaukee stuff ya know ya buy one for life soooo why not butttt with Parkside in the game, ESPECIALLY their Performance selection Then these realtive cheap Skill gear, I mean ...... I feel sorry for the Milwaukee people, I mean you buy 2 times 3 times as much for what ? So that MIlwaukee stuff better holds on for life cauzeee for those prices ? Noooooo certainly not, I can do the same work with Parkside stuff 60 bucks for 150 Isaacs a meter and with a bettery and acharger 100 bucks soooo folks stop being the 2001 generation and stop pumping up brands and people and other stuff that is not worth pumping up if it is GOOD stuffffffff go ahead pump it up as much as you can but if it is not...... why as a group jumping on it like the VERY stupid I phones what is that about ????? Huh ??????????????? Any idea ????????????
