I would of been proud of that piece of meat. I bet 90% of youtubers wouldn't have published a video if they arent happy with results. Love the fact that you did. Shows the real person you are. Love your channel thank you
Thank you Ryan!!! Ya I was pretty pissed but hey this is real life and this type of crap happens to everyone, no need to hide it!!! hahaha I appreciate the kind words Ryan!! Have a great Memorial Weekend!!
Heck ya Arnie!!! You know after I started editing this video I realized it wasn't off that bad but the redemption video I did on the Santa Maria kicked this ones tail!!! hahaha You will like that LSG, Chris does a fantastic job and builds some really nice pits!! I got a couple coming in the spring again and I can't wait until they get here!! Thanks for coming over and checking out my video brother!!! I really appreciate you leaving that comment!! If you got anymore questions about the LSG feel free ask!!! Enjoy that new pit!!!!!
I’ve watched hundreds of grilling videos and you’re the only one I’ve seen who admits when he overcooked something. Props for the honesty. That’s worth a like and sub to me.
That looked perfect to me. Really nice color on the outside and extremely juicy! OK, maybe you didn't have wall to wall pink but this is exactly how I like my prime rib. 🤘
Hey, I think you knocked it out of the park, especially doing that over open fire on a rotisserie! I would have been very happy with those results! Come on man, it was bleeding like a stuck hog, LOL 🤣🐖
Hey thanks Rus! The big reason why I feel it was a fail #! I wanted more pink and #2 I made a huge mistake and after only double checking the cook with my MK4 I quit and kind of trusted that the Meater was just running hotter. For only being the second time I used that #2 pencil I should have check a couple more times. But it certainly was tasty and tender!! Ya that board looked like a crime scene with all that pink juice!!! hahahaha Like always bro I appreciate you watching!! Have a great weekend Rus!!!
This is the best "fail" video I have ever seen man! Loved every second of this video, from the editing to the cook, great job buddy! I can't wait to see your version of "perfect" Haha!!
Heck ya man this pit is so much fun to cook on!!! I am using it this weekend and doing 40 pounds of beef on it!! Tri Tip, Picanha and a Rib Roast! Always a great time!! Thanks for watching and have fun with yours!!
Hey thanks Tommy!! It was a fail to me because mainly I forget to double check that temp that late into the cook. i did 3 times earlier but assumed it was still ok. Second I planned to crush this one and it got away. Now the meat was great but just a little overdone for my liking!! So I failed----hahaha Thanks for watching and tell your better half I appreciate her watching with you!!
This is a perfect reason why we always test before the big cook. And this was not a fail. This was a good learning experience. I would still eat that prime rib as it looked perfect to me (I prefer mine that shade of medium rare).
You are so correct Fred!! Now I filmed this one because I really didn't want to film on Memorial weekend but now looks like I got a redemption video to make!!! hahaha I will say it was packed with flavor and still very tender, I just wanted it a little less done! Thanks for watching brother and have a great weekend!!
Thanks Greg!! It certainly got a passing grade, I was mainly crabby because the Meater was off 15 degrees. Wow bro I feel honored I gave you a little inspiration!!! Hope to see you do this on your Sunterra one of these days!! Thanks for watching brother!!
I'm on the floor dead from laughing when you said the meater was in the road waiting to get run over!! Ricer your fail is a Tuesday for me! LOL Looks great and the grill is calling my name! Great video!
Thanks Reggie!! I was just hyper because of the temp difference but it was still very tasty and the family was happy but the next one this weekend will be better!!!!! Thanks for watching brother!!!
Thanks Mike!!! Yes this pit is a blast brother!! Tomorrow I am cooking up some pork ribs on it and Monday doing that Prime I talked about in this video! Have a great Memorial Day weekend brother!
Like you always say "Hail Ya Brother" Thanks again for the B&B bro and I was very happy how long it lasted in the LSG with live fire open air cooking!! I still have a fan that blows on it when I am not recording so there is still a lot of air flow!! Thanks for watching brother and have a great weekend!!
The editing is very appreciated Rizer! Not just a point and shoot video. B Rolls, trick shots, voiceovers, background music vs voice auto ducking mixing is superb.
Thank you Haniel!!! I do not get these types of comments much but I am happy you noticed the work that I put in to my content. Obviously I try to improve on every video I make but there does get to be a limit because TH-cam is just a hobby for me!! hahaha I do enjoy making videos though because I love BBQ and I enjoy editing, so a win for me!!! Thanks for watching brother and I really appreciate the nice comment!!!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ No problem bro. Production is what I do, that's why I notice the efforts behind it. Not sure if you recognize the name but I helped Greg mix your BBQ Central American Idol Season 2 entry a couple of months back.

Great video Ricer! The funny thing is my family would still think that's undercooked. LOL Dude that spit rod is THICK! Epic cook and excellent editing man.
Hahahah ya my wife and my youngest were like dad you are crazy, "this prime is great even if you didn't nail it, so fussy dad"! hahaha Just so weird that the Meater read higher when I started and then swung 25 degrees in the opposite direction. Ugh I am still grumpy!!! hahaha Thanks for watching Andrew and I appreciate you pointing out the edits!! The fire starter scene was experimenting by using as many cheesy effects as I could tolerate!!! hahaha
That is a very hard choice for sure! But if you grill more than smoke meats this is a great choice!! I love this pit and it is a lot of fun to run!! The rotisserie makes this pit even better!! I will say get this first and then start saving for the offset!! Thanks for watching!
It was a very fun cook but ugh that probe still pisses me off!!! Over halfway through the cook it was reading 10 degrees higher than my MK4 so i was happy with that so i had a cushion for filming but man I pulled a rookie move by trusting it through the rest of the cook. Oh well redemption video coming up soon!!! hahaha No cover just the slope of the roof draws the smoke up and then out. At first start up it is a n eye burner in there but in 30 minutes when the pit is hot it burns nice a clean. Ya my wife thinks I am crazy but until I get some of my addition finished this is where I can film for now with this pit. Thanks for watching!!
WOW,,, Jeff, I know you were very disappointed with this BUT that is how me and my wife love ours. At least you learned something from the cook and got to learn that Sant Maria
AHHH...Life in the fast lane of YouTubing!! You know Ricer..... I had a flat tire this week on my truck, checked it out and I swear what I found stuck in the tire was a Meater probe that someone else had thrown in the damn road too! Bet you had some great sandwiches bud. That rotisserie is awesome....and if you have to vent to someone....who else better than Rus to get it off your chest with!! Man...your videos rock. Heck ya Rob and good know other people are throwing their Meaters out in the street also, just sorry you ran one over!!! ha ha It wasn't terrible but I was just pissed because I know better, when you get a new probe you got to double check it more until you get to trust it!! Dang thank you Rob!! That truly means a lot to me bro!! Just trying to push myself and get better every video!! I appreciate your strong vote of confidence!!
Thanks Brain!! I was just pissed because the Meater overshot my cook and I got complacent and didn't double check later in the cook!! Oh well, there is always next time!!
Good advice on not trusting one device! I love my Meater Block and I think it does a great job but I do check most cooks with my Thermapen to be sure! Nice cook all said though!
Ya bro my heart sank when I checked with my MK4 because I instantly remembered if I double checked it 30 mins ago I would have seen the issue then!! ugh rookie move for sure!! Thanks for watching brother!
Haha man that rotisserie sword is unreal! Honestly it didn’t look too bad, I love rare medium rare but sometimes that happens. I don’t trust any one thermometer either, instinct and experience gets ya there. Awesome honest video brother!
Hahahaha ya you can easily hang a whole hog on that spit!!! Ya just a little overdone and more crabby I overshot my target but hey this weekend I will pay more attention for sure!! Thanks for watching brother and talk to you soon!!
It just was off the mark but still tasted dang good! My "redemption" prime rib video I nailed it but I went old school thermometer!! Thanks for watching!!
I buy everything based on reviews. Some said this was hard to put together th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt some guy said 2 hours and 2 beers later. I didn't drink beer like I was going to. I didn't feel like going to the store. I'm assuming I would have had at least 3. I took my time. Stepped outside for a cigarette break a couple times but all in all it was about a 3 hour project for me but it wasn't like it was difficult or anything . Only pictures but everything is pretty organized and labeled although I didn't see any #s on the actual pieces like it shows in the diagrams. Only the screws were labeled. On the cardboard part of the packaging on the back side. I put it together in my living room too. It wasn't supposed to rain today but it's Michigan and I couldn't wait so I put it together in my living room. Without beer but beer would definitely have made it more fun that's for sure. I'm giving this a 5 for easy assembly. I'll update after it stops raining when I can take it out of my living room and cook some food on it. Hope this helps at least for people who think they can't put this together because I did and you can too . And there are extra screws. I got nervous and immediately came here to see if others had the same experience and they have. You're not doing it wrong. There will be extra screws. Be patient. Don't rush it. Drink beer. Happy assembling
Good video. Ive made the same mistake over live fire, You got anxious towards the end and stoked the fire with more wood and the already 100 degree internal beef temp rose dramatically in just a few minutes. We do inded learn very quickly.
OMG Ricer, you should have just packed that prime rib up right then and there and shipped it overnight to me 😂 It may not have been the perfect temp, but it still looked good to me!😋 Cheers brother 🍻
Hahahaha ya after I saw the footage I felt a little better but I was crazy hyper when I saw I was off 15 degrees. The prior checks the dumb thing was running 10 degrees hotter than my MK4 then in about an hour to goes 15 over?!?!?!? Hahahaha oh well not a complete loss and it certainly was packed with flavor!!! Thanks for watching bro!!!
That prime rib looked mouth watering good as it was going round and round. At least you caught it before it was well done so that's not a terrible loss. On a bright note, you just took first place in the Meater toss. Think that would be qualifying for the Olympics if it becomes a sport, so there's that.
Hahahaha ya Troy plenty of good things to take away from this cook. Even us old farts make mistakes. The big deal was it was running hotter the first 2 or 3 times I checked it and then somehow it went backwards 25 degrees towards the end of the cook?!?!? Thanks for watching brother!!
Hey thanks Eric for joining the Nation brother!! I am a Maniac also, been watching Justin for a few years now!! Fantastic fella and the same guy you see in the videos!! We have been become great friends and I call him my TH-cam dad!!!! hahahaha He calls me coach!!! ha ha I have cooked a lot of prime and I can usually pull it at the right time but ugh that Meater placement must have been the issue!?!?! Anyways I crushed the redemption video but Justin was right I like to cook prime rib!! Paying for it though is well hmmm not fun!!!!! hahaha Thanks for leaving a comment!!
Jeff apparently I didn't see this back when you posted it. I know this because I see I didn't comment. Boy howdy THATS a big giveaway 😁. I did see Justin's video when he got his and decided to check yours out again. But I'm glad I did. Anyway I never purchased the meater thermometer. I never felt I could trust them. I believe the thermapen is the way to go on a open grill like the Santa Maria because you only need to stop the rotisserie for a few quick probes, it's still over the heat so nothing lost unlike a covered grill or smoker. And it still looked pretty darn good considering it was a first rotisserie cook on a new cooker. Always remember all cookers are like a great woman. NEVER take them for granted. Mistress BBQ doesn't like being taken for granted and she will let you know of her disapproval. You sir lucked out. Anyway I was surprised you didn't get brassero. FYI, getting my channel started isn't the ONLY thing I have been wanting and meaning to get done. I have really wanted to get one of these big bad boys. I just saw Chris do a update on their Santa Maria and really like some of the things they have done. So this proves sometimes procrastination isn't always a bad thing. Hey gotta go, have a great day. 😁🔥👍🌤🍻
Thanks!!!! It was still very tasty but just a tad overdone for my liking!!! Can't win them all but still one of the funnest cooks I have done!!! I appreciate you watching and Happy New Year!!!
Thanks Dash!! I was just pissed because the Meater was off but wait for the next one coming real soon, I think I nailed it!!!Thanks for watching brother!!
Ya David I do these expensive cooks typically because of the TH-cam channel. But nothing better than a cold beer or a couple cold beers on a Friday night!! Thanks for watching brother!!!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ the way I see it it's much fun me watching you doing these expensive cooks so I can learn something in the future when I get a chance some day. Funny I'm a welder and sometimes I make those pits and smokers but we're not always banking times are hard with the ways things are changing but that won't stop me not to buy me a prime and make it for family and friends well very little friend's that is but still family of course and yes I'm enjoying a few modelos on a great Friday. Plus helps me a lil with my depression and stress. Well keep them videos coming ill be watching. Cheers.
Hey David, keep that chin up brother!! Just keep grinding away bro!! Fingers crossed things take another turn in the right direction but never stop the push for better things! I appreciate you watching dude and I am glad you enjoy my videos!! I basically have 2 jobs and last night I was up until 4am to get this video all edited so i could post it today. No rest for the wicked I guess!! Have a great weekend bro!!!
These Santa Maria style grills look like a lot of fun but I don't know if I trust using that....do you have to stay out there with it at all times to keep the birds and what not away from your food?
This is my favorite pit to cook on because you test your skills and takes practice learning how to control fire and heat. This is not a set it and forget it pit but man you certainly get some incredible favors! The heat will keep the critters away but hey birds aren't afraid of taking a dump on Biden so maybe they would nose drive my Santa Maria too? hahaha
@@DeadBrokeBBQ I sure would like to play around with one of them....especially to do a rotisserie prime rib roast like that one you did recently. I suppose I'd have to have a pavillion to keep my bird bomber fears in check LOL. I recently discovered your channel and am hooked, loving the content bro!
Ricer, i was on the speakeasy last week and heard your frustration with the Meater. Question do you know if the ambient temp was above 500 degrees? I fried one in the past due to that.
No I do not think I got it that hot. Maybe one spike up to around 300ish max. I will test it again. I did move it because when I inserted it in the first location when I tested it was over so I repositioned it and then it was temping a little higher so I felt good that I had a good cushion so I was shocked it went 15 above in around an hour or so. Oh well good practice run and the rest of the family was happy with it!! hahaha Thanks for watching!
Ya Rusty 15 over is not my style either. but oh well I will get it next time!! Ya I always strip down a standing rib roast to help build that crust!! Thanks for watching brother and talk to you Sunday Night!!!!
I like the different levels of doneness inside the meat. It brings a complexity of flavor. I get it that most people might prefer a uniform pink. When cooking such a large meat without an enclosure, the outside layer is expected to cook more. One can cook it in a smoker first then move it to the Santa Maria rotisserie to get the charcoal sear and some fat smoke. Best of both worlds, and the inside will be somewhat more uniformly cooked..
Ya it was ok but I do not usually cook prime that done unless I am doing it for someone else. Oh well, lesson learned!! ha ha The Rotisserie is made by OneGrill BBQ Supplies, well that is what the plate says on it. Very beefy and that spit is huge!! That certainly could handle a whole hog cook!! Thanks for watching and have a great weekend!!
Thats really odd. I've owned a Meater for a year or so, and used it several times. I've never gotten an incorrect reading from it. Looking back on it do you know what caused that bad reading?
I was very pleased with it! I have a hard time getting B&B in my area. A couple of the stores that carry seem to always be out of the briquettes!! Thanks for watching!
Thank you Paul!!! I was mainly pissed that my meater failed on the actual internal temp and I made a rookie move by not double checking that towards the end of the cook, plus I am pretty fussy when it comes to a medium rare!!! hahaha But it certainly had an awesome flavor profile and wasn't as bad as it could have been for sure!! I appreciate you leaving a comment and glad you enjoyed the video!!

Good advice on not trusting one device! I love my Meater Block and I think it does a great job but I do check most cooks with my Thermapen to be sure!
Nice cook all said though!
Where ya getting the red oak
We have red oak trees here in Wisconsin, probably a tad different than Cali Red Oak but still a fantastic flavor!!! Thanks for watching!!
I don’t have plans for this memorial day what time
Early afternoon!!! Hahaha Thanks for watching Scott!! Have a great week I will talk to you soon brother!!
What is the model number and brand on the actual rotisserie box?
There is no model number on it sorry. All I can tell you is that it is OneGrill BBQ Products. with a huge spit!! Thanks for watching!
I have also learned this lesson, my probe went bad and you never know when that’s going to happen.
Ya bro my heart sank when I checked with my MK4 because I instantly remembered if I double checked it 30 mins ago I would have seen the issue then!! ugh rookie move for sure!! Thanks for watching brother!
Good food sir
Thank you very much!!!
that grill is perfection... ima make one
Heck ya!!! These pits are awesome!! Thanks for watching!
I don't know but that thing, when you were slicing it, looked pretty damn good!
Thanks for watching!!!! Glad you enjoyed the video!!
Good video. Ive made the same mistake over live fire, You got anxious towards the end and stoked the fire with more wood and the already 100 degree internal beef temp rose dramatically in just a few minutes. We do inded learn very quickly.
yep, thanks for watching!!!
Looked dam good to me! Nice 👍
Thanks Robert!!! The redemption video I did was exactly the way I like it!! I appreciate you watching!!
In need one of these for my Santa Maria as soon as I cange out the grill grate dam rust 🤦🏿♂️
This is an awesome feature for a Santa Maria pit for sure!! Thanks for watching!!
Looks super good to me. I really want a Santa Maria grill
Thanks!
Looks good to me. I know the feeling when striving for perfection though. New subscriber sent by baby back maniac
Was not a fail, I would be thrilled with that outcome!!!!
Thanks Paul!! I was hyper because I overshot my temp but I will get it next time forsure!! Thanks for watching brother!! Have a great week!!
Man that was a great cook bro.
Thanks Mike!!! Just a tad over for me to be perfect but still dang good!
Lol, that’s terrible..😂😂…looked fantastic to me bud, great video..👍
Thanks but my redemption prime rib video I cooked it exactly how I like it!
Bro that shit was fire. Dont sell yourself short on it. Never apologize for an awesome prime on the spit.....
Thanks!!!! It was still very tasty but just a tad overdone for my liking!!! Can't win them all but still one of the funnest cooks I have done!!! I appreciate you watching and Happy New Year!!!
Yeah you went a touch over but it looks delicious. I bought a rotisserie for my 22" Weber kettle so I'll have to give prime rib a try.
Heck ya brother!! It was still good but my redemption was spot on!! Glad I ran a test run first!! Thanks for watching!!
Dude... you Sir are WAY too hard on yourself. That roast looked phenomenal.
Thanks Dash!! I was just pissed because the Meater was off but wait for the next one coming real soon, I think I nailed it!!!Thanks for watching brother!!
LOVE the rotisserie! From La Crosse Wis.
It is a great feature!! I was just down in La Crosse earlier this month for State Track. Love the bluffs!!!
Where can I get a rotisserie system that size for my grill ?
Here is one that I am familiar with amzn.to/3IByJQd and you can see if you can buy one at www.lonestargrillz.com thanks for watching!!
Bruh that's perfect for me
Thanks Cory!! The redemption prime was perfect though for my liking!! Thanks for watching!!
The meat might have been a little over but still looked good, know for next time. Is that the pricey rotisserie kit from LSG?
Well to add this option to the Santa Maria it is $500 but it certainly is a beefy rig!! It is made by OneGrill BBQ Products. Thanks for watching!!
just like the name says dead broke bbq im broke cant afford a prime but i sure can afford and corona and could enjoy one just now. that looked good
Ya David I do these expensive cooks typically because of the TH-cam channel.
Hi Ricer, I am looking to purchase the Santa Maria from LSG, does the rotisserie move up and down with the wheel?
Mine does not but I think the newer version does. Just double check with them when you are ordering it. Enjoy the new pit!!
Thanks brother and I appreciate you watching!!
That thing is perfect
Thanks brother!! I was pissed at the Meater but it was still decent! My redemption video I crush it!! Thanks for watching!!
That is how I want my PR...perfection
My wife loves prime rib over brisket so this video is my way in to get a santa maria lol
Heck ya!!! I love mine!
Did the grill come with the rotisserie? Looking for a link... Thanks! Nice video!
Yes it came with the pit from Lone Star Grillz. Here is a link on amazon of the same that I got. amzn.to/3yAXrMH thanks for wtaching!
Where can i get one of those rotisseries?
Lone Star Grillz. Thanks for watching!
Dude rights now
Thanks!!
Definitely a little over but still edible. Love the trim!
Ya Rusty 15 over is not my style either. but oh well I will get it next time!! Ya I always strip down a standing rib roast to help build that crust!! Thanks for watching brother and talk to you Sunday Night!!!!
Looked perfect to me
Thanks!!! It was decent but a tad overdone for my liking!!! Thanks for watching!!
that looks perfect to me bro
Thanks Brian!! Just a tad overdone for our liking here but we were still happy to eat it!!!
I like the different levels of doneness inside the meat. It brings a complexity of flavor. I get it that most people might prefer a uniform pink. When cooking such a large meat without an enclosure,
the outside layer is expected to cook more. One can cook it in a smoker first then move it to the Santa Maria rotisserie to get the charcoal sear and some fat smoke. Best of both worlds, and
the inside will be somewhat more uniformly cooked..
Ya my family and I want ours bumper to bumper pink medium rare. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video! Don’t worry not a fail in my book, but we are own critics 😂 what’s the name of the rotisserie that you used thank you
Ya it was ok but I do not usually cook prime that done unless I am doing it for someone else. Oh well, lesson learned!! ha ha The Rotisserie is made by OneGrill BBQ Supplies, well that is what the plate says on it. Very beefy and that spit is huge!! That certainly could handle a whole hog cook!! Thanks for watching and have a great weekend!!
looks perfect to me
Thanks brother and I appreciate you leaving a comment!
Thats really odd. I've owned a Meater for a year or so, and used it several times. I've never gotten an incorrect reading from it. Looking back on it do you know what caused that bad reading?
The way it was put in maybe? Turning straight up and down might have thrown it out of whack?!?!?! It has done better since this cook though!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ still came out looking great. That redemption one was money though. Banged my head trying to break through my screen for a bite
How much does the rotisserie cost?
Not sure but I think for this model it is around $500. Thanks for watching!
b and b is the best
I was very pleased with it! I have a hard time getting B&B in my area. A couple of the stores that carry seem to always be out of the briquettes!! Thanks for watching!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ It is all around Houston. They even sell the Pellets for my Traeger. They work great and about 5 dollars cheaper.
Disappointed!??? My brother, that looked like a perfectly cooked prime rib...and it looked delicious! That's the best dang fail I've ever seen.
