The main thing I love about this channel is how connected you are with life. When you catch a fish you are so thankful for the meat it provided for you. I wish more people, along with myself could step back and be grateful for all aspects of life. I find alot of times we all get wrapped up in ourselves and forget to appreciate life.
Feeling small in the expanse of nature (both in time and place) helps you better understand our insignificance except to our loved ones and community. We need to be good to each other because it's all we have 👍
When I was about Emma's age I had a friend whose family took us both camping and trout fishing. I learned a lot from them and it was the perfect experience for both of us. When I got older I continued to go back to the place where we spent our summers. I started to take my son there when he was 5. He now takes both of his boys there too. Trickle down works! I've now been going there for 52 years and it's still magic. I hope your kids do the same when their time comes. Our family is very close because of it.

I have never seen anyone skin a trout so perfectly! I’m with you, I love the skin, but sometimes you need to skin them. They are such beautiful color like salmon! They would be amazing cured in salt and sugar and then lightly smoked, maybe on a bagel toasted on the Firebox!❤
That sounds simply delicious!! Skinning the trout like this works so great. Yes, the trout are delicious here and nothing beats a fresh trout cooked on the Firebox.

Huge fan of your videos! You have motivated me to get my family and I out to enjoy the outdoors. We have gone out on few fishing trips and have a few camping trips with family and friends planned for this summer. I even ordered the whole shebang from your website. I ordered the Ultimate Firebox kit with a deep cowboy dish for myself, wife and kids. Even ordered the cooking utensils like the spork tongs and collapsible spatula. All of the items I ordered are really good quality. My only suggestion is to make the pan holder spring loaded. It will feel better in the hand and make it easier to use, just a suggestion. Keep up the family trip videos, they motivated me to get out and live life with mine. Great Job!

All this hit home. My dad was the camping cook on our camping trips, w/ the exception of the firebox stove, I prefer camping meals over “hot coal” 😋😋 never heard of the firebox but I think I’m gonna invest in one. From one father to another good job!

BTW, what kind of sad individual down votes videos like these? I know of no other designer/ engineer/ producer and retailer who provides such a comprehensive, video instruction manual, for his products, as Steve - the designer and producer of the Firebox Stove. As a proud owner (and very satisfied customer) of a Gen2 5", with all of the accessories, I still have an itchy trigger finger on the Nano Overkill...How about a demo video explaining the differences/ intended uses/ what accessories goes best with.../ all of the stove combos in your inventory? Keep up the good work.

Yes, why not? Although, for me in mostly lowland Europe, the potential appeal of the overkill kit lies in its modularity. Take the original nano on a day hike for when you may want to brew up some coffee or soup...and add the overkill attachment for overnight camping and more serious, wood only cooking (the original nano would serve both needs with an alcohol burner, of course). Steve, you used to do videos explaining your engineering/ design philosophy with the original firebox. You occasionally revisit this - when you explain the cross feed ports on the Gen2s, for example. It would be nice to see you do a table top video explaining all of your product designs, how you came upon them, how you modified them and maybe a 'how to make the right choice for you' segment at the end? All the best to you and your family.
Easy way that I have found to skin the fish is to bend the head backwards and break the neck and pull towards the tail. The skin will come right off. Love your video's and the family interaction....

You are right about that. My youngest is 38 now and he still talks about the backpacking trips we made into high mountain lakes, building rafts to paddle, sleeping in hammocks, and even the sunburns. Fond memories every one.

@@marcosarg1 I buy them from the grocery store in the dehydrated potato section they are called Hungry Jack and they come in a carton which is also used for rehydrating them unless you do it in the pan like I do sometimes.

A good cooler helps too and lots of Coleman ice packs
The eggs do not need to be kept cold! The meat starts frozen and is insulated.

You are right about that. My youngest is 38 now and he still talks about the backpacking trips we made into high mountain lakes, building rafts to paddle, sleeping in hammocks, and even the sunburns. Fond memories every one.

Lol, yeah. I've tried a lot of different dehydrated potatoes and he's hungry Jack hashbrowns work by far the best!
@@marcosarg1 I buy them from the grocery store in the dehydrated potato section they are called Hungry Jack and they come in a carton which is also used for rehydrating them unless you do it in the pan like I do sometimes.

They certainly look like it. I am no mushroom expert but I read a lot and they look like but I could be wrong.
