    Congrats! I have over 20,000 KMS on my Himalayan ( a 2021 purchase) but at the age of 76 I was not seeking a crotch rocket, just a bike that will go anywhere. And on Vancouver Island there a hundreds of miles of logging roads to explore. Happy riding to you.

    Congratulations. Great you took the Himalayan. I'have the black euro 5 type. But it had to be lowered for me since my inseem is about 70cm. Hope you're have as much fun on it as I have. Looking forward to your videos. Grts Danny

    Congrats Charlie! Perfect choice! B roads, off roads and no roads is where this bike shines. Roger is already changing things for you, beginning with that entry gate. 😄Eager to see what you both can do together. Happy riding 🏍 👍

    Well done, that's a good choice and you'll have lots of fun with Roger. I'm not a fan of the exhaust and of noisy pipes in general, they make the ride tiring and attract negative attention from the non-motorcycling community. You can always change it.

    • @restdayrider

    I thought you would Charlie, good call, well proven bike thanks to Noraly . Not sure if you'll learn to live with the noisier can. Was tempted to do the same with my XL1000 but felt the ride was more important than the sound . Enjoy the horizons on the Himmy 😊 .

    • @restdayrider

      Thank you Mar, I have kept the baffles so that may reduce it if I can't tollerate it. 🤣

    Can't believe you tried to take that brick pillar down with a RUBBER mallet. It was a joke, right? Too late to tell you now, but a lump hammer was the correct tool, and not a sledge hammer. The lump hammer would have allowed you to save the bricks and then take enough of the lower section of the wall down as well to rebuild the pillar so you could fit double gates.
    If you go down that road i would strongly suggest you get a proper bricklayer, it would be money well spent. Some jobs are best left to the experts.
    Himalayan is a good bike, i have the winter camo model. Keep a check on the battery, they tend to go flat quick, especially in the winter.

    • @restdayrider
      @restdayrider  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sadly, no joke, I am actually that naieve, however, if you saw to the end of the blog, help did arrive with proper tools, and a brickie is booked to finish the job off. 😊

  • @johnbiddal5951
    @johnbiddal5951 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    Shrewd choice Charlie. I'm sure that in a couple of months if not weeks you and Roger will be inseparable. Unlike that dodgy hammer you used on the brickwork, Roger is the ideal tool for the job you have lined up for him...😄👍

    @billcotton1551 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    As an adult, the closest thing to being a kid on Christmas morning again is getting a new bike. Can't go wrong with the Himi, congrats Charlie! PS you needed a sledgehammer.

P.S. If you ever want to drop a wall in future get a metal hamer or better still a hammer drill but it was funny to watch "not for you" but for us it was just great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take care ride safe and keep these vids coming if you can !!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi ya Charlie, luv the bike, I thought you might go for this model. The pans are excellent just what you need. However, the name Roger!!! I'm not sure about that. It could, and I say this respectfully, have strange interpretations, but it's your bike you name it as you deem fit. Enjoy Charlie, I wish you the best and look forward to more vlogs.

    Lovely bike with some sensible mods but I’m pleased you’re not my neighbour as that loud pipe would become tiresome and likely does nothing for its performance - enjoy

    • @restdayrider
      @restdayrider  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I won't be revving it on the drive, I do like my neighbours. 😊 The mods do seem to make a notable difference from when I test rode the same bike, definitely quicker response and more 'go' at the top end of the speed limit . 😊

    • @lestersmyth692
      @lestersmyth692 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The iridium spark plug and higher flow air filter make a significant difference to the Himi performance wise, not so sure about the pipe. Just make sure you wear earplugs more so on a long run as the racket will become tiresome . Just my humble opinion of course 👍

An excellent idea and I have used them since fitting an aftermarket pipe to my RE Classic 500 and just all the time on my Moto Guzzi Griso 1200. Foam earplugs like I used when I worked in a press shop are great, really cheap and save your hearing. I wouldn’t ride without them now 😀👍

    Comment #2.
    If you are slightly short in the inside leg, have a look at Daytona Lady Boots. They have a 6cm heel hidden inside them.
    My eldest daughter is 5'2". An extra 6cm inside leg makes an enormous difference. She couldn't ride without them, yet the design allows her to flat foot her bike comfortably.
    Just corrected that, 6cm. Inches would be bloody rediculess,

Also, where you were riding home, there are loads of green lanes, that's what the guys you saw at the side of the road were up to.... but you already knew that and are reading this saying "I know that!". So Roger is your choice. Shame the Honda CB500x was too big but they do come with a price tag. I prefer the Scram but it would be worth a test ride on the new Hunter, if you get a chance.😊

      @restdayrider  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll test ride that and the 650 Meteor when that arrives. 😊

    I had a feeling that you would go for the Himalayan, once the few faults were sorted then it was to good a deal to miss. Just be really careful with the off road thing and, remember you haven't got a support crew following you🤔. Oh yeah, always keep your phone with you in case the worst happens! 🤕.

    Be interesting to see a standard Himi compared to your one and what impact the mods have. What's the vibration like? Does it feel a lot more powerful than your Meteor?

    • @restdayrider
      @restdayrider  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Graham, the vibration seems to be negligible on first ride and I do believe the mods have made a difference to the throttle pick up and the lower end acceleration.

    p.s. your channel is also so motivating for women wanting to get into biking. Such a shame that most bikes are made for the hight most men. Also there's less choice of equipment to wear - as I found out trying to buy equipment for my wife.

    • @restdayrider
      @restdayrider  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Ian, and I absolutely agree about the kit, it's a struggle to find stuff in shops and have to go on line, then you don't get to try stuff on. 😐

    i enjoy watching your videos but i just had to let you know a rubber mallet is not a hammer, and you needed a metal mallet and the bricks will just pop off..anyway keep up the good work.

    I can relate with the height and issues buying a motorcycle. I have had many cruisers and decided to go for an adventure bike, I settled on the CFMOTO 700 CLX Adventure bike and had to get the seat 5cm cut down, now its perfect. Happy riding

    Is it a noticeable difference in power, going from a 350 to the 411?

    Love your intro. I too looked at the CB500 and also the Bonneville T120 before buying My Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 dressed in the sexy Baker Express colors. I like how you made sure you got the right bike for you. Side note I recently uncrated 15 Scram 411s. I like you brother, bigger hammer ⚒️👍 Thanks for such fun content.

    Totally not surprised by your choice, without doubt the right machine for you, in your price range and that superb RE luggage included that would have cost you a fortune to buy for the Scram that is if Enfield had made it available. I had suggested a Benelli 502 TRK that would have been well within your budget but I suspect as with the Honda too tall. Fantastic, well chuffed for you Charlie, by the way if you think your friend is weird you haven't met my friends 😂😂😂
