I have 2 subs and 2 tops everything is Harbinger. Talk about a great sound. Whoever disses this speaker is just a snobbish person. I've heard various name brands such as QSC EV Mackie and others. Believe me those Harbinger 12s are really really good. I plan on buying 2 more
I have a pair of the Harbinger MLS1000s, and a single MLS900 system. The MLS900 system is fine for ceremony or cocktail hour. The MLS1000s really stand out for parties and weddings though! The 10" subs in this system is amazing for a 10" and exceeded my expectations. I heard the S12 at the Guitar Center last year, and it is impressive for the price, and size that it is.
If I didn't already have a pair of the Mackie Thump Gos, I might have gone with the MLS systems and just added a Jackery or equivalent to make it portable.
I have a similar situation, but with the 18’s. The 2318s and the VS18. Yes, they are basically the same subs, but with a little difference in functionality. This is basically a hack with buying Harbinger. All of their current lineup will likely perform the same as the previous lineup (2019/2020), but with newer features. I plan on getting one of these 12 inch subs soon, for smaller gigs.
Also, I have been using Harbinger exclusively in my sound rigs for 4 years now. I have owned many other brands before, but this has been the best for what I do. And I’m not just djing with these. I’m an audio engineer, and I have been using these for concerts, conferences, corporate events, you name it. They have never failed on me, and I always get compliments about the sound quality. A lot of djs like to talk bad about these speakers, and they usually don’t have experience with these modern Harbinger equipment. They feel like a brand is going to make them better. I would even go out to say that as far as what you can go into a Guitar Center store and buy on the floor, this is some of the best stuff you can buy, considering the price and what it can do. Not that QSC, EV, or JBL isn’t good, but Harbinger is just as good (and sometimes better), for 1/3 the price!
I am just starting to plan a PA system for tailgating and other similar small get togethers… as a result I have stumbled on your video here. I don’t really understand PA setups at all, so I’d be trying to just DIY and self learn my way through it. Having said that… your statement of connecting a Mackie Thump Go (battery powered) to these 110 powered subwoofers… either S12 or VS12. This caught my attention because I have already been price shopping the Mackie equipment. How would that work exactly ? Just the Mackie Thump Go “THRU” port would cable over to the subwoofer ? If so what cable type and ports would be used on the subwoofer ?
@ thanks for the reply. 🙌 Another quick question the Mackie THRU port XLR over to the VS12 amp setup. On the amp does it matter which XLR input to use ? Seems like there are two options XLR Input 1 and XLR Input 2
I am just about to order a VS12 and I am in the same situation as you were. I have an S12 and yes the specs look the same except if you look at the manual of both near the end, the S12 lists the amp and speaker at 4 Ohm while the VS12 list them at 8 Ohms. I would be surprised Harbinger would have moved to a 8 Ohm amp/speaker, which my limited understanding would result in a more expensive setup except if there were reliability issues with the S12 setup. Maybe this is the reason for the price hike? I wrote to Harbinger customer support asking about this reported difference. I have had my S12 for a couple of years and don't use it often. It has been a good performer for small bar/outdoor shows.
I didn't notice that difference. I'll have to take another look at the manual. I've had great experiences with both speakers while DJing small events. You won't be disappointed with the VS12.
Hey logistical Styles, I wonder how the RT25 and VS12 would sound paired together. I am very curious. You can get an RT25 right now for $69 at Guitar Center.
If you are daisy chaining them they won't be in stereo. You would need to connect an XLR out of the Link output on your TX308 and into the input on the Sub. If you want to add a second sub in stereo then you will need to do the same thing with your other TX308.
Hey bud~ nice review! I see that you have two of these subs, do you think just one of these is enough for outdoor gigs? I already have 2 JBL EON612's for my speakers, and just want to add a sub.
I watched this whole video just to hear if you thought they actually sounded any different from one another and nothing…. 😂 Specs don’t mean anything as you have found.

I agree. These are great subs. I'll be using them this weekend at a small wedding reception with the Mackie Thump Gos

The vs12 amp is getting warmer and its a 4 ohm. But they sound good.

Yes, I agree. These are pretty good speakers and I don't let the name brand influence me. If it works then it works.

Yes, I come out of the THRU port on the MAckie using an XLR cable into the Sub's XLR input.

Thnx for the info, great video, and nice shirt, have that same shirt 😆

@@logisticalstyles Thanks. I did order a VS12.

That might be an interesting combo. My Mackie Thump Go has an 8” woofer and it sounds great with the VS12.
I got my next subwoofer its a vari s12. But how do i connect 2 subwoofer in stereo. That my problem.

The vs 12 plays litte bit harder but The amp is getting warmer then the s12

I've done some events with just one sub but I really like having two.
What size battery pack are you using to power these for the 3 and half hours you mentioned?
It's discontinued but this is the one I use. amzn.to/4eOfAcy
are the simons for drums only? can you use it for dj.
@@StuartRauol you can use them to DJ with. They are the same exact sub.
Those are advertised wrong if they are s12s labeled on there is vs12 not S12, smh
😅😊😊
