As I sit here in 2024 this song has such a deeper meaning. My grandpa, and Nana who were Conway fans are now gone. The house with the tin roof I listened to rain on has been torn down. I lost a child, and that night it rained within my heart. I wish I could go back to those carefree, little girl days with family, tin roofs, and none of the loss that comes as we become the elders. On a brighter note maybe my grandpa, and Nana are holding my baby listening to Conway somewhere far better than here. Where all is peace, love, and music. 😊
I loved your comment❤I’m reading with tears falling down my face…I too want so much to go back to being a little 5 year old girl at my grandparents house. God bless you and you’re right. Your grandparents are holding and loving your baby. You’ll see them one day😊❤
My husband passed in 2008 listening to this song. Praying for you and me. May the Light find us again. In my last decade and not sure ywhat your future holds. Find and peace peace.
Sending you a huge hug, I shed some tears for you as I sit here and listen to this song and the rain on our tin roof. Everyone should have the experience of rain on a tin roof. I am happy you had that. Take care.
Sadly, this was the last trac Conway ever did. Legendary performance by everyone involved in this project, truly giants in the industry and this record and the documentary film are one of the best examples of american music.
I'm sitting here in 2022 looking at the state of our world, country and today's country music. I go to these videos to unplug for a few minutes. This video in particular, shows we all can have common ground, what pure talent looks like, but most of all, love and respect. Thank you Sam and Conway.
This version of rainy night in Georgia. Just stop you dead in your tracks, and how can you not cry listening to this, You could see the camaraderie and fun, Sam. And conway we're heading 😢😢😢
First time I've heard this rendition and now I can't stop playing it. Makes you wanna sit in the back of a dimly lit barroom and just think. GREAT job by two GREAT artists! Rest in peace Conway.

A truly beautiful rendition of a truly beautiful song, Conway rightfully pays tribute to Brooke Benton, who made the song famous. I'd like to pay tribute to it's author, Tony Joe White. A fantastic performer too. Thanks Tony. R.I.P
I thought I'd researched everything there was about this beautiful gift of music, but I honestly thought Brooke Benton had written both the music and the lyrics. I'll have to chase down the lead on Tony Joe White....
There are still country stars who emulate his example. Conway will never truly pass, so long as people remember his music, and attempt to produce TRUE country music; with soul, passion, and emotion. Real country music either makes you smile, or it makes you wanna cry.
Reading the comments on these 2 artists proves there is still a lot of heart and soul with good understanding without the fluff and no substance i see far to often in todays society
Tony Joe White is now gone, but his music lives on. This may be one of the greatest songs ever written. When over 100 artists record your song, artists from every era and genre, every ethnicity and from all over the world, you know you wrote a great one. RIP Tony Joe White.
This is one of those songs that make you dream... What you lost, what you wish you'd done different, just dreaming of better, maybe. I have the CD Country and Soul, a compilation of duets like this, with songs like "i fall to pieces" Aaron Neville and Trisha Yearwood, which is amazing! But this song with legends Conway and Sam just tore me up inside... And on rainy nights, it's often playing in my room, solace in my solitude... Rest well Conway.
Will never be another Conway Twitty I was so lucky to see him perform so many times and I attended his funeral and other memorials for him----My heart still aches when I hear these songs!!!
Unfortunately, the artists totally failed to interpret the emotional tone of the song. It's about a guy who is so down on his luck and alone that he's living on boxcars, and these fools are laughing and joking about the rain, and singing in crazy high-pitched and loud tones. Thank God Brook Benton had an ability to interpret a song.
This Masterpiece shows the very close kinship between C&W and R&B. The two genres are very much "kissin' cousins," if you will. And these two Legends showcase it to perfection. Many thanks and so much appreciation to these fine Gentlemen. Rest In Paradise, Mr. Conway Twitty...

Listen to the deep countrt of Conway, the blues of Sam, and the rythm of both combined. Um um um. One of the best duet songs of all time. Brings back a lot of memories of my youth. Just a good, laid back, relaxing, and reminiscent kinda song.
The year escapes my memory, 83 or 84, Conway was performing in Jacksonville, FL at Metro Park. I happened to be backstage, courtesy of friends and met him as we were both getting something to eat. Popeye's Chicken catered the event. We sat together, talked, ate, laughed. He finished just before I did and asked if I wanted seconds because he was getting them. I said yes and he asked me to get us another beer and meet him back at the table. Who would have thought???? It was priceless!!
I'm not much of a country fan but I really can appreciate Conway Twitty's talent. He and Sam Moore sure did a number on this. As fine a version as anyone's done.
I’m sitting here listening to this song ,miss you Conway and Sam ❤who’s listening to this beautiful song in 2024?
Two honeymooners in OK are!
I listen to this song as often as I can.
Listening to calm myself from the cares of this crazy world. Going back in time to a simpler day if only for a moment with Conway 🙏

Legends! Harald Jenkins super great, Sam too. No words. 25 years ago and I still listen.
Listen to the deep countrt of Conway, the blues of Sam, and the rythm of both combined. Um um um. One of the best duet songs of all time. Brings back a lot of memories of my youth. Just a good, laid back, relaxing, and reminiscent kinda song.
so beautiful ...tears now :'(
The year escapes my memory, 83 or 84, Conway was performing in Jacksonville, FL at Metro Park.
He and
Sam Moore sure did a number on this. As fine a version as anyone's done.
Brook Benton and Conway Twitty. Just can't beat them! Awesome!
