45 years ago or 45 minutes ago Stevie Nicks gets your heart pumping and puts a big smile on your face.....presence personified to the 10th power.....simply stunning performer.....
@J Domes Coke is just a tool. I don't know if she was on that at that show, but a lot of people were in that time period, and you could not give any amount of cocaine to a random person and reasonably expect something comparable to a Stevie Nicks show. You could possibly find a talented person who would have a hard time performing while stone cold sober, but it doesn't work the other way. "I said what's so great about cocaine? He said 'it intensifies your personality.' I said 'What if you're an a$$hole?'" - Bill Cosby [wording approximate]
The stars lined up for me when this song came out. I was 17 and just about to go and serve my country. I was stationed on the USS Dwight D Eisenhower, a nuclear carrier and for some reason the ships on board tv system got MTV, which was basically brand new at the time. And they played a lot of Edge of 17. And I fell in love with Stevie. We were out in the middle of Atlantic ocean dealing with Iran and we spent 94 days straight off of Lebanon. This was before women were allowed on the ships. And to have this new entertainment which every young man loved... well it was a special time. Still to this day my knees buckle when I hear Stevie's voice. She made a fan for life.
I love it! What a story… thank you for taking me there.. a nostalgic yet epic moment in your life. I remember in the MTV days watching her videos in awe.. so beautiful and talented.. we witnessed legends in the making as we rocked out to them.. Thank you for your service my brother in arms. USAF vet here.. 🇺🇸
She's used the same two ladies on background vocals since the very start of her solo career. They record with her on every song and they've performed with her on every concert tour. You will notice that on every song Stevie records, she layers her own voice in the background several times over in different octaves and harmonies. She is a master at molding her voice and singing background on just about every song she records. Obviously, while live in concert, she cannot do that. So, those amazing ladies (Sharon Celani & Lori Perry) do an outstanding job on background vocals during Stevie's concerts.

Best performance by a female rocker. The voice needs no further accolades. The music deserves all the praise it ever received. For me it's in her eyes where there is no pretence, where her authenticity, where all her life experiences come alive.
This is definitely up there in the very best, but there's a very specific live performance of her singing Rhiannon from the mid 70s I cant find anymore and the last five minutes of the song are just her absolutely tearing it the fuck up, whipping around like crazy, electrified, belting out the lyrics so hard her voice cracks and ending in one of the most incredible vocal holds I've ever heard. Unreal
Lots of folks here talking about getting chills or goosebumps when Stevie Nicks sings. I am not alone. I get chills. Such an amazing voice, presence and beauty.
Man, I can’t believe Stevie Nicks is 72 yo. It blows my mind that the best talent in music are as old as my earliest memories of my grandparents. Talk about a generation gap. Wow!
It makes me happy to know that Rock & Roll is alive and well in the youth of today. All you need now is a daily dose of The Beatles and Led Zeppelin. Keep Rockin'
@@jimi.joplin7287 it makes me sad that rock isn't the same though. the 70s were different. we may still have rock, alive and well, but music like this isn't made as often anymore. present day rock that has this sound is rare to find :(( bring the 70s back!!!! the 90s killed it!!!

I love Stevie the most of any female rocker! But congrats and 100% deserved long overdue induction to Rock and Roll HOF. Congrats PAt Benatar!! Pats resume is so deep compared to many of her peers. Pat Benatar had: HEARTBREAKER, HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT, LOVE IS A BATTLEFIELD, WE BELONG, INVINCIBLE. YOU BETTER RUN (2nd song ever played on MTV btw), and TREAT ME RIGHT. I would say only Heart and Stevie Nicks can claim as many iconic hits. Heart had Crazy on you, Alone, Barricuda, Magic Man. Stevie had Edge of seventeen, Dreams, Gold Dust Woman, I cant wait, Landslide. All amazing songs by imo the 3 greatest female rockers of all time!!! PAT BENATAR, HEART (Wilson sisters), and STEVIE NICKS!

Stevie, I call her Nicky, is one of my favourite singers in the World. Since The Fleetwood Mac established, her voice was the signature, concerning their forever sound and melodies..
@@jarmolahti143 Her style was the perfect match to Christine McVie's slower, high pitched songs. Just an awesome group of musicians that found each other at he perfect time!
First saw Stevie with Fleetwood Mac on their 1977 tour. She performed a Mac classic, "Hypnotized" in her trademark black dress and top hat. The crowd, me included, was truly "hypnotized" by her amazing talent. I still can't hear that song without recalling that incredible performance.

@@terrihart2133 wadddddddddddaayyyy
This riff is probably the high point of Waddys playing career, or at least his signature moment in all his years playing that song. Just pure energy to be that consistent in beat/rhythm.
@@victorkreitner754 In a way that kinda sucks for Waddy, he did so much great work over the years.
Stevie Nicks has the vocal and HYPNOTIC range of a Classical Siren.
You know she's sang that song a thousand times, but she still puts so much passion into it
It almost brings her to orgasm towards the end
Your comment reminded me of Robert Plant having to sing Stairway to Heaven a thousand times or more, yeah I grew up in the 70's!
Love the thump behind here
You are correct. She is a one off. Regards Staffordshire england XXX

I'm still in love with her ! Such a talented lady ! 😊👍
45 years ago or 45 minutes ago Stevie Nicks gets your heart pumping and puts a big smile on your face.....presence personified to the 10th power.....simply stunning performer.....
It was probably all the cocaine! I love Stevie but lets be real.
Fantástica!!

Every now and then you come across a comment like this that you don't want to end. All the best.

What a class act. You can see it on her face how grateful she is and how touched she was by the flowers and gifts.
Well, yeah but she was also a raging coke addict lol

That back up singer and Stevies's voices sound amazing together!!
Back up singer is her sister.
Sister in law
the back up singer on the 5 minute-ish mark is not her sister in law Lori, it's Sharona, Sharon Celani.
Who ever. The ladies singing back up are incredible
The whole song from the guitar, to the singers to the drums and bass. It's just mesmerizing!

Best performance by a female rocker. The voice needs no further accolades. The music deserves all the praise it ever received. For me it's in her eyes where there is no pretence, where her authenticity, where all her life experiences come alive.
One of the best, don't forget Heart, Joan Jett, Cindy Lauper, The Breeders and Varuca Salt.
Unreal
@@orbitalbutt6757 I think I've seen that once too. Keep waiting for it to pop up again. I recall it being outside in daylight.
Tbh it’s the only female singer I love to listen too
Let's not forget the original female rockers out here either like Sister Rosetta Tharpe. But this performance is phenomenal.
Stevie is a living goddess ~ She is ageless, and her music will still touch hearts and be alive and loved in 1000 years. 🌈❣
