My father died in 2013 at the age of 91. He was an incredible man and a wonderful father. Last month (Feb, 2015) I found an old tape cassette in his house. I brought it to a transfer studio to see what was on it and when they popped it in the player, like a gift from heaven, what I hear is my father singing Seven Spanish Angels. I was stunned and started to cry. He only sang the chorus, but he did so clearly and beautifully (with no accompaniment). I had never heard the song before so when I came home I immediately googled it and found this video. Thank you so much for posting..... my father must have loved this song and after listening to it I'm not surprised. What a treasure. I believe this was a message to me that he is in heaven.
Marlene Pedersen May your Father Rest In Peace.. I would only give my right arm to have a recording of my dads voice, even though he couldn't sing. Make sure you treasure that recording for the rest of your life and pass it down to his grandkids and so on and so forth. I'm sorry for your loss..Love from Ireland. XxX

My dad never said the words White man, Black, or any race ever, our own relatives made fun of us, saying we were raised White, because we didn’t get raised in Black culture”. He raised us knowing the Bible and his verse he quoted when things got tough was Romans 8:28 And we know all things work together for good to those who love G-d, to those who are called according to His purpose. They don't necessarily mix because of their styles/temperaments...but man do they make music. Willie is so in the music, and he does it his way that he doesn't pick up Ray's cues when they are offered, but then he catches them and SOARS with that voice. So damn beautiful, Ray and Willie.

At 16, my grandfather fell head over heels in love with a beautiful, dark-haired girl from Mexico, and they were married. 52 years, 4 children and 12 grandkids later, once a week or so, he would still break out his guitar and sing this song to her. Not to show off but to impress the girl he had been trying to impress basically his entire life. It will be 4 years in december since he passed, and I still catch my grandma playing Seven Spanish Angels as loud as it will go with tears in her eyes. If i can be half the man he was, then I'll be doing just fine. Love you, Pepaw.

I saw Willie around 1978 in Georgia with my oldest brother. A wonderful memory for me. A fight broke out just ahead of me, when the man rated back his elbow caught me in the mouth and busted my lip. I fell and big brother pulled me out from the bottom of the pile . Willie sent his personal security guy to check on me. I was bleeding but fine. Autographed tee shirt and I was on my way. My mom's funeral was yesterday and this was one of her all time favorite songs. I played it at the funeral and now it's the day after and I'm now reminiscing on her and her life. Thank you Willie and Ray. I appreciate this. Thanks
My husband recently passed away. I didn't explore much country music back in the day. But this is absolutely a beautiful song. Felt the power of God and was in tears when they were singing together at the end
As amazing as Willie Nelson is, you can tell he is just in awe of the master that was Ray Charles. Everyone should be! The man has some of the best musicality in history!
This duet is absolutely and utterly captivating. Regardless of Willie and Ray being such legends, there's something very ordinary, normal and relatable about them. Gosh, how I wish I'd be in the audience this day. 🇦🇺❤
I like the movie "Ray" Great portrayal of his life, and no matter how down he ever got, all the hurdles he had to jump, and the difficulties of people doing him wrong, friends who bugged out on him, and thise who profited off him, he always keep his head, went forward and made legendary groundbreaking advances in music, and civil rights for everybody
These two very special but different people coming together and sharing their passion for music together is really moving. Watching them feed off of each other gave me goosebumps!!!
The only reason I put in race was because in the 60's blacks were still considered inferior and getting into country music was a rarity for them. Shows how good he was. Sorry if I offended anyone.
Yes I agree with uou Sue Smith I'm an R&B fan but I love all kinds of music and country m usic Willy and Ray char les are the greatest an d I love this song.
My husband, Joe, loved this song so much. Every morning we’d sit on our back porch drinking our coffee and he’d ask me to play Seven Spanish Angels on my phone. He’s gone now and every now and then I play this and think about how much I miss this precious man. ❤️ Thank you Willie and Ray!

For my taste, two of the greatest vocalists of all time. Ray sang every word as if he lived it and a piece of his soul lingered on every verse. Then there's Willie. The style, the tone, and a delivery like no other. This is a gem for the ages...
I feel the same way about Ray and Willie. This song was written for the 2 of them to sing. They do a wonderful job. I get chills when I listen. One of my favorites ever
Lord knows this is a beautiful song.! A friend I dated years ago recently passed away. I ran across this song, not knowing it would minister to me as I grieved his passing. He was a beautiful soul. Now the seven spanish angels have taken him home.
I like how reserved Willie is. .. And this song speaks volume to everyone, " young, old, black or white ". This song is epic. Give plus signs to all the good comments. I understand them all. ;) And I love Ray's laugh. God Bless you all that have commented and resonated..I think Ray died few weeks after Reagan died.

I like Willie but he has got to be the most nasal singer I’ve ever heard. Sounds like someone is squeezing his nose when he sings, especially after Ray sings with his smooth voice.
It makes me Smile everytime I hear these two great men singing together. A Black Man and a White Man singing together with no political issues. Just singing and sharing great music with Everyone. Miss those Days
my momma asked to hear this song before she left us, never even listened to Willie much, but this song has so much memory of my Mother, Margaret Elizabeth Barten (Bloom). Rest In Peace Mom. We Love You Always and Forever.
Thinking about mom and missing her so much! listening to some of her favorite songs and came across your post. This was one of her all time favorites 💕
You, got it 👍I couldn't have said it better, I totally agree!!! Aren't, they tariffic,,together? It's a great song 🎵 and, it really touches,me right in my heart..
Just a different breed of musicians back then. They didnt just sing great but were also phenomenal storytellers. That story telling aspect is missing in today's mainstream music.
I remember when my papa was passing and we had all gathered and someone played this song on their guitar. That was his last night alive. I’m so glad it was a last happy memory. One of my favourite songs because of it
I dedicate this song to Larry Mosley who died on July 12, 2016 as the result of an automobile accident which occurred two weeks earlier. Larry, good guy, heart of gold, helpful to all he crossed paths with, was a rugged individualist who grew up in the rough and tumble world of north central California. He loved Country and Western music, his home and family. The story of this song could very well be Larry's story and therefore, it is dedicated to him and his loving wife. May peace be with you, Larry. R.I.P.
This was my grandfather's favorite song, and the song they played at his funeral almost 10 years ago. he shared a lot of the same qualities your friend did. The memory of great men doesn't die easy.

I show my kids that there's something better. Music to them is an accessory--listen while you do something else--to me, it's a whole body experience, demanding my full attention.
These old songs will move you to tears because there is so much soul in them. These songs are so well written that you can visualize scenes from a movie in them based on the story which is being told. They tug at you and always get your full attention. You even wish that you could travel back in time to meet these legends. RIP Ray. 🙏🙏
How anyone doesn’t love Willie is beyond me. My dad absolutely adored him and I lost my dad in March. My dad was half Spanish and we had this at his funeral 💔💔
Willie was/is so much more than just a musician, but one of the greatest human beings ever to be in thee industry, Ray as well. These men have done so much for music and entertainment that they really should be revered for the way they paved together and individually.
This is one of the greatest songs ever recorded. If you ever felt there was something wrong with the world, this is a shining beacon for everything that is right.
Sadly, I can't seem to pull up out of this pain. Thanks to those warm wishes. Love is such a heavy toll in our lives but the weight is unimaginable when the entire load is on the shoulders of the surviving spouse..
This is one of the greatest songs of the modern era. It has everything... Spirituality, an allusion to the impermanence of life and the strength of love, the inspiration of unity, and a soulful and almost surreal musical delivery. I think you choose not to like a song like this because you refuse to admit the power it has over you. It's truly philosophical, which is difficult to find these days.
I pray to God to give you a lot of beautiful days, and I hope God bless you to have a great day today, So where are you originally from Shannon 😊? I'm from Overbrook
I honestly believe my wife is an angel. God bless her we've been married for 22 years and I can't tell you how many dark places in life she's pulled me out of. If you ever read this Christina you are and always will be the love 💕 for me.. love you babe😎
seems like this music which you can feel the emotions from the very first note, has been pushed aside by the music industry. they would rather have negative, disgusting, meaningless music pushed on the people. think about if this type of music was mainstream again
This is THE most underrated song for both Ray Charles and Willie Nelson. Their talents blended perfectly.

As amazing as Willie Nelson is, you can tell he is just in awe of the master that was Ray Charles. Everyone should be! The man has some of the best musicality in history!
Yeah, Ray Charles was amazing.
Check out this video. Three masters, and again you can see Willie's love and admiration for Ray. th-cam.com/video/2UW4ELmVD9M/w-d-xo.html
Michael,
RAY CHARLES was my 1RST CONCERT EVER , IT WAS 1976, I WAS 9.
PRETTY COOL
LOVE BOTH RAY AND WILLIE .
THANKS FOR POSTING,

Exactly!...
100% agree. Both are icons in the music industry to say the least
If it's possible to love people who you've never met, I love these two.
This duet is absolutely and utterly captivating. Regardless of Willie and Ray being such legends, there's something very ordinary, normal and relatable about them. Gosh, how I wish I'd be in the audience this day. 🇦🇺❤
Yes, the closeups, you can see every pore. And you can hear every quiver in their voices. We really see the humans here.
Really, it just feels like 2 friends just sat down and jammed
this is because they are normal people outside of their music industry lives
That makes 2 of us ! Sue Byles, and Claudia Heinowski
This is a typical Willie Nelson ballad with an excellent addition...Ray! Nothing beats its.
Ray Charles was one of a kind; His voice was a story of hard times. His piano playing was one of my favorite's.
I like the movie "Ray"
Great portrayal of his life, and no matter how down he ever got, all the hurdles he had to jump, and the difficulties of people doing him wrong, friends who bugged out on him, and thise who profited off him, he always keep his head, went forward and made legendary groundbreaking advances in music, and civil rights for everybody

A man born with a welth of talent . Has ernd his place in the history book of America's most talented musicians God blessed willy Nelson
I remember, your charm isn't so charming . I don't remember what happened
What happened ? Why were we fighting? I don't remember. Was it only one day?
A black blind American and and an abandoned boy who speaks English making a record in the sixties shows how good the music is
Maybe one day. People will make comment.without putting a race .and just comment on the person.
The only reason I put in race was because in the 60's blacks were still considered inferior and getting into country music was a rarity for them. Shows how good he was. Sorry if I offended anyone.
how good the music once "WAS " !

Two humans together regardless of their differences make them one of the greatest songs ever. Why can't WE all do this today.
Stop looking at your differences. Look at what you have in common. We all have something common.
We are NOT different is the key. We are all the same at our core.
As
Yes we all need to get together in this crisis. I hope the American people can pull together and make it a great nation!
And let's not forget that being different is okay, too.

For my taste, two of the greatest vocalists of all time. Ray sang every word as if he lived it and a piece of his soul lingered on every verse. Then there's Willie. The style, the tone, and a delivery like no other. This is a gem for the ages...

This is one of the greatest songs of the modern era. It has everything... Spirituality, an allusion to the impermanence of life and the strength of love, the inspiration of unity, and a soulful and almost surreal musical delivery.
