- In 1971, Loretta Lynn began a professional partnership with Conway Twitty. As a duo, Lynn and Twitty had five consecutive No. 1 hits between 1971 and 1975, including "After the Fire Is Gone" (1971), which won them a Grammy award, "Lead Me On" (1971), "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man" (1973), "As Soon as I Hang Up the Phone" (1974), and "Feelins'" (1974). For four consecutive years, 1972-1975, Lynn and Twitty were named the "Vocal Duo of the Year" by the Country Music Association. The Academy of Country Music named them the "Best Vocal Duet" in 1971, 1974, 1975 and 1976. The American Music awards selected them as the "Favorite Country Duo" in 1975, 1976 and 1977. The fan-voted Music City News readers voted them the No. 1 duet every year between 1971 and 1981, inclusive. In addition to their five No. 1 singles, they had seven other Top 10 hits between 1976 and 1981.

My mom fell on the ice in the parking lot of the KFC right in front of Conway Twitty. He was kind enough to help her back to her feet. You could say that she fell for him that day.

Conway was a gentleman who cared for other people's feelings. I bet the lady that fell on ice, felt like falling again after she saw that it was Conway who helped her up. Loretta said that Doolittle wouldn't let her do sing with anyone except Conway. She said that they were buddies and that Doo would tell Conway jokes all the time. I think that Conway and Loretta was the best duet couple there was. Rest in peace Conway and Loretta.

I had a driver who took me to medical appointments out of town. He was older. He and his wife used to drive a lot of stars who performed in Saskatchewan.
Conway was late for a performance in Regina.
Security stupidly wouldn’t let her car pass.
Conway asked how far to the venue? It was a couple minutes walking. He and the others thanked her kindly, piled out and walked.
My friend picked him up after.
They chatted and actually hung out a little at his hotel.
