Oh and also I'm quite pissed off at Lexus Canada because they are in stock in the US and dealers tell me 2 years wait in Canada. This is ridiculous. Paper launch. I'll stick to Germans...

Regarding the hybrid, globally it’s been announced that the GX hybrid will have the same hybrid max powertrain as the Land Cruiser. And since the 250 series Land Cruiser and Lexus GX is the same, it’s safe to say that the same hybrid powertrain will be in the GX for the North American market.
Great review guys! Silly rollerskate 22s don't belong on this at any trim. If you're not going to do a lot of off or backroading, I'd split the difference with the trail model's 18s and put 20s on this luxury trim. That'll get you back some compliance you're not feeling with the reviewed model's overly firm ride, make whatever limited "softroading" you do-do better, look more the part with taller sidewall rubber IMO, and probably ensure longer tire and wheel life as well. You may not set any new Nürburgring track records, but you're not doing that sort of thing anyway with this - hopefully!
These low profile tires are the biggest con job put over the vehicle buying public. As far as handling goes, when formula 1 cars went from 13 inch wheels to 18 inch, lap times got slower....
I inquired about getting a GX here in New Brunswick, I will have to wait 12-15 months out as they have pre sold the few they will receive.... Guess I'll pass with the CDN pricing so high, See what the NEW US Government will do on imports and duties in January...
I do not know about Canada but here in Nor Cal with the lack of available dealerships an GX550 units the only place you will find the LC similar in price to the 550 is online. Once out in the real world you will quickly find out that most Toyo dealerships are marking the LC above MSRP but because there are a lot more Toyo dealerships you can find a few that do not do this. As for the Lexus dealerships it's always a 5k bump but sometimes a 10k bump above MSRP to snag a 550.
Andrea, its not going to be the 3.4 TTV6 hybrid, because the LX will get it. Plus, it isnt the flagship like the LX is. The Land Cruiser sharing the same platform as the GX will most likely mean the 2.4 turbo hybrid will be likely.
What a good looking vehicle in and out. I love how much Lexus put into making the GX tough and capable. Price aside, this is my favourite SUV to hit the market in recent years.
Having a hard time between the 2025 GX and Defender 110 v8…I know the Lexus is supreme in most categories but I am blown away by the Defender’s body and interior design
I have a Land Cruiser. The hood flex is real. It’s probably the same with the GX. You have to accept it if you like the styling. Large, flat panels without any curvature WILL flex. It’s not a quality problem, it’s a style tradeoff.
@dlj1285 Everytime I see a nice newly redesigned car on the road, I feel like going to the dealership and doing a test drive. But then I'm like, oh hold on now - you wanna get car jacked or have it stolen? No you don't! So I stick to my paid off 2017 Acura. I think they just secretly love the car theft personally. More theft means more sales. It’s shameful.
I waited for the GX to come out, it’s cool on the outside but the interior is very bland, I was really underwhelmed, needs more color… I’m now looking at the gmc sierra Denali ultimate which actually is much nicer inside…..and I wasn’t initially even thinking about a pickup.. but I can get a 6.2 l v8… I was quite shocked at how nice the gmc is.. leather much nicer… heated seats much better… I may be a convert to gmc!

Wow! I Love you two!!🖖 I am on the fence between the Landcruiser and the GX. It helps to get real world impressions and feedback about the vehicles you review. I noticed that the Landcruiser has a larger Inverter. Is it for AC delivery?

Surprised that they don’t get the mpg over 25 yet or closer to 30 with the hybrid version. GMC / Chevrolet has achieved getting over 20 mpg in a non-hybrid engine that still produces over 300 hp and over 400 ft of torque from a 4 cylinder engine.

I own it for a while , the overland + its a very good car, however I don’t know how they made it with such a small fuel tank, it doesn’t get to 300 miles and its really annoying its not about the economy, but its just way too small
The models with the adaptive variable suspension are better but it still has a more truck-like feel. Our test model did not have the adaptive variable suspension but we have driven a model with it.
Massaging seat option is nice, it’s a Lexus after all. But no electric heated windscreen and only optional heated steering wheel? In Canada? C’mon Lexus.
That GX is absolutely beautiful!

The GX550 interior although looks fancier but seems to be of cheaper material than the LC interior.
