After taking about an hour to get the air bag off. (You really have to push on it to get it to unclip) I kind of wish I just changed out the column because after changing the solenoid my steering wheel still don’t lock. I changed the steering rack but keep it straight the whole time. I’m really hoping it’s not something with the computer. No lights on. Just wheel won’t lock. Any ideas?
I separated my lolumn after the steering wheel pulling on it while trying to line it back up after pulling dash out to replace door actuator for ac and defrost I push it all the way I. And it isn’t catching Spins freely Any idea what I’m doing wrong? Thanks!

The locking mechanism behind the ignition is probably worn out.
They removed the column lock in 2003 or something close to that. There is no column lock on the last gen GM.

Sounds like a broken clock spring
@@kelleyevans5290 was the grooves in the column- needed a press. new clock spring.
