Love those Carlyle ratchets! Their push button design on the locking flex heads is amazing! Almost zero play when it locks up. Haven't tried the gearwrench ratchets yet, but I love Gearwrench impact sockets!!! Also, I always thought papa was pronounced "pah-pah" and not "p'pah"...then again I'm wrong a lot! LOL
I have that same Carlyle ratchet. Great tool for sure, I also have the locking flex head 3/8" and three of the 1/4" ones. They are all really good as long as you don't go crazy with lubing them.
Great video - been thinking about the Olsa you showed - seems handy. Glad you had this video...you made some valid points with numerous sizing options.
I am a fan of my extendable handle ratchets, I have a 1/2" drive HF and a 3/8" Stanley that I find really useful. Both were $20 each. I am not a fan of Matco ratchets at all. I hate mine, have no real clue why but at a higher price than my SO daily use which I find to be worth every overpriced penny. I took the Matcos home and they live in the back of the home tool box.
Finally got a 1/2 long handle fixed head ratchet that I like. Been hard trying to find a brand that I like and fixed head. I walked into a Napa a town over from me and found a older R12LQR on sale hiding in the back for 28 bucks. Just has a standard chrome grip, 48 tooth but it's long without being ridiculous. Only gripe is it is quick release but I guess I haven't really had a issue yet with a quick release on my other ratchets. I'll just have to keep an eye out for sales and mayby I will get my 1/2 ratchets to be all standard detent.
I like the size of the grip on my Gearwrench 1/2” XP120 flex head. I have the Tekton 1/2” 90 tooth 24” long and I Plasti Diped the grip to try to make it a little bigger. In my opinion it’s not fat enough. It’s a little bigger diameter than the shaft with very little palm swell. Also just picked up the Icon 1/2” 90 tooth.
I am looking to get a comfort grip 1/2 ratchet. That Carlyle looks really nice. Do you know if they make a flexhead with that length ratchet? I agree with you on the torque wrench price. I think I paid around 60 for the one I have. I haven't had any issues yet
Great to hear and ya I know they make flex head and locking flex head and I believe they do have one in that length but I'll have to look it up to make sure
You can turn the Pittsburgh breaker bars into long handled flex ratchets with the Pittsburgh ratchet heads. Seems like a fun and inexpensive project to me.
@@TonyTheTechnician love to hear how it is. Going into the diesel field and been looking at substitutes for snap on mainly. Just picked up two tekton 3/8 ratchets and they're a lot nicer than I thought they'd be. Planning on getting a bunch especially usa made stuff soon. Probably bring it all to the home box once I upgrade what I need at work when it comes

good review. I have two long handle blackhawk ratchets need to replace them with the 1/2 long handle tekton for a fine gear head.
Thanks and ya I'm about to pick up the 1/2 Dr as well
Wish the carlyle was non locking flexhead.
Where's the far superior SHL80 at Tony? 🤔🤔
No snap on 1/2 Dr here. I only have snap on in 1/4 and 3/8

@@paulbeach7129 Hey do you know if they still make those ratchet heads? I couldn't find them.
No tekton in half inch?
No not yet. About to pick up the long boy. I got the long 3/8 and love it so figure I might as well get the 1/2 as well
