You could literally of made the S9 out of gold but the note 8 would still be the first choice of most people. All round best bit of phone tech ever made.

I wouldn't, if I were you! You should at least wait for the Note 9, if in fact you're the type who likes to keep up with technology. But your Note 8 could very well take you into the next year or 2, before it would really be considered outdated. Well, at least that's my take on it! It just seem like it's an amazing phone, based upon what I've been hearing from reviewers and owners. I own a S8 +, and I am so madly in love with that phone. So, I can imagine the Note 8 being even better. Good luck and enjoy your wonderful phone!

I love my Note 8 but I really wonder why people are so obsessed with camera quality.
Coding in Flow because camera quality is a big factor and very important to a lot of people. Especially since phones are generally the main camera for most people.
I have a nice camera with a couple lenses. But there are little to no choices for a good bright aperture on mine. And what is there is very expensive. More than I paid for the camera.
In terms of hardware and software use the phone is light users ahead in ease of use and convenience. And features.
Plus even my s7 edge focused far quicker and handled dynamic range better.
And was better in majority of low light scenarios
All these things have been greatly improved in the S9.
Even variable aperture. Improved quality and light intake is something I look forward to

@Changsu Siris Woo Yes, its bezels are slimmed down at the top and the bottom. It weighs a bit more and is a little thicker but that stuff isn't noticeable.
Everybody always wait 2 years befor you get a new phone especially when you have a note.

I always hear the fingerprint sensor placement of the S8/Note 8 to be a bad thing compared to just putting it in the center like the S9 did, but being left-handed it's a total dream. Super easy to unlock and my case has a little bump between the sensor and cam so never get the cam smudged either. Will be keeping the Note 8 for a long while or at least until a real game-changer device comes out.
What does it matter if you're left or right handed? You can use any finger for the sensor.
Bil Defillipo you are right. You can use any finger. But for a leftie having the sensor on the left side you can do it way easier and unlock quick. For a right handed human it can be done but it is quite the stretch to get there, and may not be doable unless u have large hands. Look up the reviews on the placement, it's nothing but complaints to where Samsung put it in center.
it doesn't matter being left or right handed when using the note 8 it's how you hold your phone the idea is to hold the note 8 center in your palm for the finger print scanner not from the bottom and stretch your finger across to reach it

Currently using the Note 8. I think I'm going to use it as my daily driver until the next Note 9 / 10 release. For switch to the "S" series maybe not worth it for me since the note series have more ability to do all my daily task & more productive.

Why nobody talk about Spen being very useful while editing photos. Once I was so frustrated editing photos on my LG V20 that i try to use regular pen with no ink 4 precision editing. However it doesn't work.

I have a Note 4. loved every moment with it, but it's seen better days and it's time for something new. I liked the functionality of the S pen and definitly used it. but not on a everyday base. Should I get the s9+ now? Get the note 8? Or try to make it until august to get the note 9?
If you have to have the S pen, get the note 8, and if you have no problem waiting until August i would suggest you do that, otherwise the s9+ is a great phone perfecting the 8/+, if you are upgrading right now i would go for the s9+ tbh (coming from a iphone 8 plus user)

My question is, with HDR and extremely fast shutter speeds, what's the actual benefit of having a lens that's 2.4 over one that's 1.5?
Aside of sharpness being increased on the edges of the frame at 2.4 and more of the frame is in focus, but given the extremely small size of the sensor, the difference in most conditions is negligible. Now say if it was to close down to... f/8 or f/11 then I'd see a huge advantage when it comes to video so an ND filter isn't required to shoot cinematic motion video at 1/48th @ 24fps during the day. Also another benefit is long exposures while using a tripod. But at just under 2 stops of light loss for shots that are generally good in bright light, kinda makes no sense to me having an aperture of 2.4.
I will never trade in my note for an s9+ just for the camera and the sound. Nop not happening. I happen to like my note the way it is, huge screen and an sPen and plus I don't have any problems reaching the fingerprint scensor.

Yo you made a good choice regardless. Note 8 specs are extremely well and this is only 10% better. We hold our own with a more squared design and the S Pen features. I have had mine since December and loving it more and more everyday!
IMHO you did not really missed anything big. I personally think that n8 is still better than the s9.
Rafael Carpy If you bought it for the S pen then be happy as it is much more useful than the changes they put on the s9 (unless you really want to hace the 960fps mode)

I don't know how people complain about the fingerprint sensor on the note 8. Don't get me wrong it's in a weird place but once you understand where it's at I do it with ease. I love my note 8. Note 9 sounds good but unless it's something big I'm not gonna upgrade until the note 10 maybe or 11

Dudan Victor note8 has an amazing built in camera. Pretty much the same as s9. Dual speakers? Note 8 has stereo. Which is not bad at all.
송준현 note 8 has one single little speaker that cannot even come close to the quality of the s9 and yea note 8 has a good camera but it can't record 4k at 60 fps, not capable of 960 fps super slow either, wich are some important improvements over the note 8. The processor is 30% more powerful, So...yea....
Dudan Victor ive watched the comaprison video between note 8 and s9. There is a difference of course but still doesnt mean that note 8 has a terrible speaker. I still belive that note 8 is better than s9. 30% better processing speed? Bro we are talking about miliseconds here...having a device about 0.5seconds faster is really nothing..at least note 8 has a stylus. They really need to stop releasing these at different times of the year. They're a little too close together to have those who just purchased the Note have their $1000 device be topped. Do away with the S and S+ models and just release two phones... One S model and a larger model with the Note functionality.
