I'm using a Galaxy S7 Edge. The performance of my phone is rubbish. It lags like crazy even when doing simple basic tasks. Thinking to get a Galaxy Note 8. So my question is how's the performance of Note 8 now in January of 2021?
@@shekharswarnakar5592 When you wait as long as you/we do to upgrade a phone, it's best to get the newest best thing out at the time so you can have a good experience for a long time. My Note 8 is still performing great and never lags, I even sometimes have like 30+ windows open in Google with no issue. But the phone is almost 4 years old, it's time is unfortunately coming.

It's not that big of a deal, honestly. Putting a dbrand skin on a phone doesn't make it any better than it really is. In my honest opinion, the skins look really nice, but if the phone is bad I don't see why the reviewer would lie to anyone if they were only sponsored by dbrand.

As usual great job overall, like the categories and the systematic way you present the phone. At this point I would suggest creating sub-categories and scores for example for display and performance, and have an overall score of the phone with possibly extra points for unique features like this one. Dunno just to make it easier to compare between Alf this featured and competitors imo.

I've had the Note 8 for a week now and I have had zero problems with the battery life. Never had to charge it before I went to sleep at night.

I know me either. I believe a lot of people just need every single app to notify them. Some people are on FB all day and still need it to notify them on everything like they are customer support center for their friends!
I turned most things off because notifications create a false sense of urgency on the mind. My phone lasts the whole day and I text, browse the web, listen to music, etc...at work. I just have my financial accounts, text voicemail, and messages notify me. Everything else I check when I get good and ready.

I remember when this was my dream phone because of the drawing ability. Just a quick question, does anyone use this to draw artwork? or do you just take notes?
UltimateArtistT when I had my note 4 I used to just doodle on it. I loved having the pen and different brushes and colors. It was all good until it accidentally went through a cycle in the washer.
I used to have an Note 4 for short animations and quick sketches. Note styluses don't have very high pressure sensitivity, but has quick responsive rate to make up for the loss.
The only major issue I had with the phone was it can't handle extensive sessions with drawing/animation. This became the main cause of toasting the Note's motherboard.

That's how progress work. Back in the day, smartphones were still in its earlier stage, where each company is looking to find its own form. When they got it, they'll stick to it and improve on that until it hits a plateau. So no, it's impossible to expect extreme improvement nowadays on smartphones, because the technology for it is pretty much almost hitting the ceiling by now.
I'm not saying that we will stuck with this technology forever. But if we want a new revolution, it'll be in a different form, not a smartphone we generally know nowadays.

Was...then it started freezing randomly, needing manual resets, and restarting randomly. Sadly, I've had mine since around November 2017 and have used it daily so it's probably on its last legs. Battery doesn't hold as well as it once did. Screen isn't as receptive to touch as it once was and other issues. I've done factory reset in the past year, wiped everything off the phone, and anything else I could do. The Note 8 was a solid phone. Nearly 4 years of use. If the phone still received Android software updates I'd almost just buy a new one.

watching this in 2023, I really miss the pressure-sensitive home button. That was such a cool and useful feature that I really miss on my newer device now. Looking back at things, I feel like Samsung really has regressed in some areas, and doesn't much listen to their audience these days.
So it's either spend $1000 on a note 8 or iPhone X. I used to be a android user but now I'm apple user but if I were to spend $1000 on a phone I'd get the note 8 so I can get most use out of it.

Own Alrizqi I wouldn't know as I haven't played with the note 8 at all. But I do have the s8 plus upgraded from the store and the battery just annihalates the s6 which is fine for me.

The audio sounds still sound premier and loud enough but in terms of battery you will need to stay only in FHD+ mode for a longer life.. but those aren't things to worry about a smartphone like this

Got this phone on day 1. Have been using it for college. It performs the same if not better than my iPhone 7+ (battery-wise). Maybe in pure raw screen-on time it lacks in battery life, but I have the resolution maxed (although not the brightness) and play games in my time between classes. So mileage may vary. Also I must note (haha) that most applications I use have their background set to black (including my keyboard background), thus the amoled display eats less power. the stylus is priceless to jot down quick stuff before class ends when the teacher goes "oh and by the way pop quiz tomorrow" or something similar.

Zender Zagato, I've been using my note 4 for note taking in college for most of my freshman year and all of my sophomore year (so far) and I prefer it much more than traditional note taking. You get to take notes directly on the lecture slides (if they're provided), so you spend less time copying and more time listening and taking important side notes. You also get the experience of writing stuff down which supposedly helps with remembering it. I think the only upgrade I could make from what I currently do is buy a Surface Pro (screen real estate and easier file transfer), but that'd be adding another expensive device I need to keep track of.
Yeah the only thing is the screen size, I feel for notes I would still like something more tablet size and closer to that good ol' A4 paper.

My battery in my note 8 is a thousand times better than what my note 5 was. And the back fingerprint scanner is more natural to me because that's where my finger be when I pick it up.

Great video the Samsung note 8 is actually perfect for work purposes especially when you work a lot with your cell phone. I had the note 4 for a long time and didn't get the note 5 because there was no sd card feature. And my note 7 order was cancelled, but I just got the note 8 and works pretty well. With the split screen feature it's just amazing.

iPhone user here… the Samsung Note phones are easily the best phones I’ve ever seen. And that’s a lot coming from me.
Hardware like that running Stock Android or iOS would be such a blessing. Not saying Samsungs software sucks, it does have its own amazing features but simplicity is everything these days.
Actually have you used the Note 8 yet? If not which I suspect you would find it is extremely optimised now, quite light and after hating touchwiz etc have no issues at all with this version, also the memory management is superb especially with 6gb ram.

In all the speed tests I've seen against an iPhone 7 it's always hot on its heal in the first lap but then as soon as it comes to reopening the app the note and s8 has to reload the app all again whilst the iPhone has it stored in ram. Nowadays the lag is hardly there, just shit ram mangament.

Love my S7 edge .. but man do I miss my spen :/
S8 plus and note 8 might have similar specs but now that so much time has passed, the 6gb ram on note 8 keeps it performing smoother, where s8 plus with 4gb ram now feels slower.
This is my sister's current phone, she upgraded from the s6 edge plus and she loves it.
As always, amazing review! I'll be getting my hands on the Note 8 shortly, so this video definitely helped me get an idea of what to expect.
All I'm saying is the Pixel 2 better have a headphone jack.
